Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 vs Audi SQ7 Super SUVs w/ Tiff Needell

[Music] now Paul when you invited me out today you promised me hundreds of horsepower in a couple of modern supercars these are not super cows they're not super cars but they got lots and lots of horsepower over a thousand combined power between the two cars and they are best sports cars their sports utility vehicles I suppose in a way they are the super car SUVs and this is what people are buying more than real Supercuts SUVs a real talking point to the moment everybody's getting into the market as you very well know and these cars are very similar tip they both got v8s have both got twin turbo v8 they're both from Germany they both got a top speed of 155 miles an hour but there's a big difference between these two cars which is then yeah oh that's a diesel it is it is a diesel means I'll have to drive the Mercedes because I can't be seen in the dirty diesel you'll be amazed of this because of the Euro six emissions yeah the new standards this is a very very clean diesel engine as they all have to be now because of the new emissions I have to me I don't do feel a bit guilty hammering Diesel's they have them change them and they've completely clean now yeah and it's still that image of all the disasters means people aren't buying them honestly I can't tell you how impressed I am with this car I've driven it a lot and it's quite it's not quiet it's a diesel I love to talk that starts on your diesel you know you're gonna eat those words smoke or pour out of the exhausts are you ready or what how are you drums it's quite impressive yes sure it's not bad is it yes smell clean but still can't drive its diesel I'm a petrol it I know it's a pitch but I can't be seen in the diesel do me a favor start that up because this is known for us pops and crackles listen to this look this is proper sound sounds exactly the same until what I do like with Mercedes though is this little low reverse Drive little gear leaver well know when I'm driving you're out where you going waiting for me right away for you honestly [Music] Oh tips not hanging up how is he my goodness he knows a rose that's my excuse chief talks about power all the time but for me it's about the talk the talk of the car this thing has got absolutely bags of torque six hundred and sixty-four foot-pounds of torque at 1,000 revs so you get zero turbo lag in this car right let's start with the basics 577 horsepower 561 pounds-feet of torque what more could anyone want I'm sure Paul that we've banging on about how he's got more torque than the Mercedes he doesn't need power well pal its power that gets this to 62 in just 4.1 seconds I don't care how much talk you've got you nearly a second slower 262 and the interesting thing here obviously the cars are what 20,000 pounds difference what I'm keen to know is whether this Mercedes is worth the extra 20 grand but obviously just but that it's worth quite a bit this car costs about seven one thousand pounds newer shade under this actual cars got about twenty thousand pounds worth of extras one of them is the electromechanical active roll stabilization that's a bit of a mouthful but what that allows you to do is corner very very flat so it takes the corners flatter and smoother so that much will come through right well the panoramic roof as well which I love on the car and then a few other bits and pieces as well as pretty much got everything on it the refinement is beautiful love their refinement in Audi's I think they're absolutely killing it at the moment I love the screen the view that you can have now with this digital dashboard so I can really mix it up and have whatever I want on there I want to have a map on there I want to have my favorite radio station or indeed just a big rev counter in front of me oh I love that view screen now the one thing you noticed when you got a firm suspension is actually how a firm seat suits that sort of suspension and these Mercedes seats really do hold every bit of your back in the lumbar area nice field of the steering wheel pretty much round where's that Howie I'm sure we'll have it stupid chopped off the bottom which is cheapest we need to turn the wheel a lot its round flat round flat and a white how do you do that trademarks that go fake the car is absolutely rock-solid it feels like a car value significantly more than it is it's a huge amount of car for the money for 70,000 pounds I know that sounds a lot of money for a car in a lot of people's view but when you consider this is effectively close your ears Bentley but effectively a been take it for double the money if you realize how good value for money this is the only thing you got to live with with yourself is can I handle diesel but you know you would never ever think of this as a diesel car it doesn't sound like a diesel doesn't smell like a diesel and it certainly doesn't perform like a diesel the more I drive this Mercedes this funny feeling between the performance underneath with sports suspension and firm through the potholes and rats and cornering fast accelerating this rather nice car interior I know it's got a flashy car bird of fire but - you may be relaxing car to city then sometimes I feel like what even softer suspension to enjoy more comfortable pleasant ride some of these cars have all the sports pluses they don't have a comfort plus if you only can have one car to live with for the rest of your life you could go a lot worse than choosing this you've got a huge boot you've got bags of power you're high up you got every single gizmo an electronic driver aids you can ever wish for it's an incredibly incredibly good car so much so I'm gonna get tipped to have a gurney see if I don't know how you're getting on that but you really have to have a go in this car it's pool it's a diesel it's a diesel it's a diesel it's a diesel but chip how can you make an opinion without even driving it you wouldn't even know as a diesel like trust me you just you have to drive it even if it's just for one mile I think you'd be really impressed with this car well I know it smells nice I'm impressed so far but but I can't believe it's better to driver this Merc the Midlands great you know it kind of suits your very young exuberant lifestyle but um this this to me just ticks every single box you've got to try it but how well does it cope with the offroad look here's me up a hurdler I've been around here before I'm gonna go off-road here and here we go look how well the Mercedes and off-road also just driving through a puddle in style yes but did you out a bit cope alright with that deep water you still have to try this car on these roads please for me alright alright I'll try the car if you insist I'll try [Music] [Applause] [Music] what can you tell me better then what do you think I can't hear you tell that noise of its the way isn't it it's do you know no now it's sounding a bit rattling now no it's not noisy it's is your scar on your scars not on is it I tell me engine off you see these will people just leave there's runny like lorry drivers do you see the certain etiquette of petrol drivers we turn our edges off I think you're gonna like it I like what Paul does for seating positions but like sitting on top of a stepladder here gives a bit of small isn't it yes I don't know what he's doing here the whole dashboard it's a Sat Nav now I've never seen that before you can't drive like that with a dashboard full of a map displaces it's got it directional I was at my North facings I was a boy scout I loved the radio in this out Paul thought you've got a map for a dashboard I've got no speed I don't know what I'm doing I'm trying to follow map there's a dashboard that's ridiculous however get rid of that okay so on the steering wheel control there's a button called view if you press view and then arrow left the right you've got a whole host of different views you can have oh yeah I put it now and I've got speed out right and I made a Larkin there now my way okay I'm happy now I'm happy now I've got a rev counter and a speedo in the middle of dashboard where it shouldn't be I've also got a real washed white game which I don't know how to switch off cuz when you get a new car you really should do this learning before you drive anywhere I apologize for mine it was here me made me jump into this car I didn't really want to drive it so we left miss Sadie's mg dearly 63s 4matic Franky that's a mouthful we're driving this car in sports class which halting gear nicely and you get some lovely sounds from there from the exhaust as well right my settings are set 2nd gear for our thousand revs 44 mouths there and we punch the throttle and it's it's it's very impressive maybe that talked that ball keeps talking about actually works pretty well Tama Diesel's always miss raves over a red light here of 5000 rpm that seems so low but this is a for a more impressive car if we extra half a while I do the same ease Wow you build some fantastic engines the engines in the exhaust notes on Mercedes v8 even now they've got between servers absolutely spectacular I'm such a big fan I'm such a big fan of good sounding engines fantastic it never ever get speaking of good sounds I haven't even turned it on but this car has got banging awesome all the way through I love that lots of the cars are doing now with Audi and Mercedes and others are following suits as well but that's a really nice option extra my superior quality seats heads-up display 40 mile an hour limit 435 miles an hour so we're good boy am i think that Mercedes is a much nicer place to be sitting but I have to say this car does everything pretty much as well as the Mercedes does 420 thousand pounds less and yes it's a diesel but yes that talk doesn't make it an easy car to accelerate with it's not quite as quick as the AMG Mercedes so what did you think this turn it down it's quite good isn't it you can't hear it's a diesel at all that I now know it's like clean diesel little things in there going to the hard steering wheel it's horrible to criticize small things if you don't get such brilliant cars it's little things actually got what I don't like what about these wing mirrors you variant paint them was ugly and I don't like the steering wheels like I do like the interior of the Mercedes AMG own that that cockpit section with the carbon fiber is pretty spectacular this is more space-age the cockpit the the digital dashboard and the big displays and every facet you get used to that trouble running tested cough short you can criticize you know whereas the sat-nav er where's the settings because once you own the car from a you know straightaway where they are but it was harder to get used to the the Audi systems whereas that's quite easily lay there logical but there's one thing I know about your Luc go on you got that battery system whereas the Mercedes has a voluminous boot look and it's a nice low low just best of all look under here look see Oh more space look a hook oh my yeah I can't believe it whereas in your Audi this is a problem of your 48 volts just just touch just touch and tap we don't need any of this pulling up my life a similar boot a higher floor but underneath what have you got technology and where's the hook technology I don't need a hook you I'm not paying twenty five thousand extra for a foot you've got batteries technology and look have you got this what what what Oh zum wohl seats as easy as that look at that oh no that's a game changer now I don't know what to do that's pretty cool is it who needs to hook when you got rear seats like that that is actually pretty cool isn't that brilliant and seven seats are so important and the kids out for parties cinema trips and then simple as it was to it but up is it simple to put it down is it as simple to put your let me now finish the assembly not a bit of cardboard it's a beautiful piece of felt finished beautifully let's go what do you think summary clean diesel engine does more March the gallon I should be buying the Audi I'm a petrol head boy I'm sorry if you let me 20 grand so I can I just have to have that I can't be image thing some money no Jay you would seriously get the mg I have never bought a diesel 20 years ago I told the world that diesels pollute towns and everywhere for global warming killed co2 I've refused to own a diesel so I paid a fortune over 20 years by not having a more economical vehicle I'm a perch late don't argue with me it's not logical oh you know getting 20 grand come on petrol I convinced you yet to convince you yet no jugs [Music]
