MEGA OFF ROAD STEWART & STEVENSON M1078

hey overland travel adventures we got a special surprise check out what logan brought over to the house [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right logan give us a tour all right so this is a 2004 stuart and stevenson m1078 um with uh all of the non-essentials like air conditioning cup holders and usb chargers um where did you get it how much you pay for this thing give us the what the about 27 000 uh and i picked it up in st louis missouri and just drove home st louis from midwest military equipment all right okay and yeah that's a plug for you guys yeah exactly um look at that spare tire yeah weighs about 400 pounds not bad as it sits right now does it have some kind of lift or something yeah so it's all it's on this is a crane right here um just pull this out and you can lower the spare tire tilt the cab it's all arrow over hydraulics you can actually suck the suspension down uh for loading it on a c130 or c17 because you're gonna be doing that yeah i mean southwest airlines or in the garage if you really needed to you get it in the garage probably not now what's the horsepower uh 225 so be careful um i do not know the torque um diesel engine right yeah it's a caterpillar 3126 probably double that almost yeah probably um less than say like a modern f250 that's probably rocking a whole lot more power 52 gallons of uh super expensive liquefied dinosaurs and then uh everything's uh designed to be stored in the truck so these lily just come straight off and uh gets stored here in these um bins hold on so you're you're a marine yes never owned one of these no so because you didn't ride in one of these is that what you wanted uh no so in the marine corps we have big boy trucks so this is a two and a half ton uh cargo capacity and in the marine corps we use seven tons so much much bigger trucks much bigger trucks um but yeah so it's designed so that these all come down this will get stored right here with our stakes and you can turn this into a full flatbed with two people in about five minutes but keep the doors and everything yep just store it in there yep it all sales and stuff the only thing it doesn't is the the seat configuration so if it's gonna be used for cargo then um these would be kept out of the truck and the truck would just roll with just the shorter doors wow and then we do have a cargo cover for it that we'll put some branding on for marketing purposes and then this lifting eye here and then this one pops out and then that's what they use for uh like either taking on like creating it on or off ships or with helicopters yep so it comes out of both sides pins up and then uh goes over the top it does have its own ladder on board and then uh they did i'm working on that so help me out knew some um so person to ask yeah right it's kind of busy wow so okay so how does the ladder work through the ladder uh the ladder just comes straight up prior planning [Music] wow then you pull the pin this drops down and then there's some other pins in here so there's the actual cargo units that they put on top of this for like offices and that kind of stuff so is that fan thing back there that's air conditioning yep so that was the add-on yeah that's why it looks brand new yeah that's brand new so the air conditioning is actually from a marine corps truck so the marine corps does use a similar version of this but they use a 6x6 version for launching missiles called the highmars um and with that there's a metal shielding that goes over all the windows for launching so it doesn't shatter to the windows and so when they have all the shields down it would get a little hot in a giant metal box in the middle of the desert so they gave them air conditioning so the air conditioner is actually out of a marine corps truck doesn't that fall down when you go up there's a little pit no let's put him so there's a little like top kind of like turn type thing yep so it is capable for a turret um it's it's uh basically got the solid top on it right now but in the army they would unbolt that and then put a turret ring on and then the turret sits inside the turret ring but you can't have the turret and the air conditioning what are these things are your official neighbor so these are first my understanding is first one is for the truck second one's for the trailer and the third one is for the ctis i can air up and deflate tires on the floor the power sold out uh it's just a normal because it has air brakes so just like in any other semi it's attached you tear them down it fills it back up out of push button nice so you can see it actually hooks up on the tire here so this is the ctis valving here oh what's ctis uh central tire inflation system so you can raise and lower tire pressure yeah just by pushing a button seating for three sitting for three normally there's a baby seat right here um so this is a ccis so you have highway cross country sand and then like emergency or run flat um would be like in a combat situation for the military members um and the emergency just constantly uh pushes air to all tires and they run flat all right i'm sorry the emergency will push air to a single tire and the run flat will push air to all the tires constantly so if you're getting shot and these all have um run flats in them so even if i lost the tire a bunch of damage uh so it's got like a solid polymer core that would you'd still be able to drive on um the cup holders are not stock those are added aftermarket um and then uh yeah stuff like that in the jeep right yeah so it's usb chargers just a 12 volt you have another 12 volt down there um oh there's the midwest military equipment there's your plaque yep stewart and stevens it's the u.s version of like the unimog right or something that's very similar to that yeah oh god what is this a turret style uh sunroof it would be a turret uh when overseas yeah went overseas well you never know what current state might be used here storage back there so that's all for um that's a radio tray over there so all your comms would be on that side and then there's a box underneath here that has just a tool box for anything that the driver would need um yeah are we gonna go for ryan absolutely let's do it it's funny you would come on garbage day because it's like driving a garbage truck yeah my wife [Music] you have a backup camera yeah you just when you run over something and it squeaks and you stop just leave before the lawyers get here oh my gosh what a trip all right we're rolling it's a little bit smoother than a garbage truck yeah it's not bad maybe smoother once the out here and you drove this from st louis to california yes sir wow how was that that's a wednesday morning we got back on a saturday how many miles did you get on your tank what's your range uh i don't know because i was stopping more than the range yeah so i came back 50 instead of 70. just for the views wow that's even got a lap belt for the back there right here really nice wow super practical the air conditioning works pretty darn well yeah not good right i know and they installed all of this right so this is just to be a flat panel and they just unplug it normally it has heat oh i see so make sure you don't freeze that but heat strokes even though all we do is combat in the desert anymore so just never mind that no no all right let's do a little walk around and check out some of the details of this beast there's air conditioning just walk around this thing again it's like it's just a total i mean trip i mean it's a military vehicle like you've seen these things before but uh to have one in the hands of a civilian to go play with and we're here at califab showing uh chase uh what logan's done super cool just can't stop
