Think our current laws are fine, wouldn't want them relaxed though like the individuals in the video.
YouTube Comment section seems full of Americans though - so the response is how you can imagine.
Would have preferred a different presenter in all fairness, he didn't quite seem up to the task of taking on the topic.
I used to go to my local target range fortnightly, grew up around rural shotgun owners and enjoyed target shooting. Nobody would advertise the fact that they owned firearms for not only the public reaction but because it makes them a target to criminals.
I wouldn't mind the allowance of automatic variations of firearms but not handguns. I'd love to fire a handgun that wasn't modified to be a target shooter (long back arm and barrel) or black powder though the increased ownership of easier to conceal firearms i don't support.
It's a sticky topic but the current laws leaves a fairly acceptable means of owning a firearm as a tool or as a leisure pursuit.
I've fired guns before and it was cool, and if I ever visit the states I'd totally check out a gun range, but I don't really feel the need to ever own one to protect myself and my family.
I suppose I can feel thankful for that.
I'd not be averse to the idea of having handguns available at the range and the ability to store one there with an appropriate licence. I think 'guns for self defence' is bollocks, but I don't know why responsible adults aren't able to use them in the proper setting.
I don't really understand this argument that there is no need for guns and it is therefore okay to completely ban them at the expense of everyone that enjoys sport shooting. If that was a good reason then we should ban a lot more stuff. We have a real ban happy culture I guess.
I used to shoot handguns at the range.
Then Dunblane happened and anyone who liked guns was now a paedophile mentalist.
I had 2 airguns from the age of 7, great fun
You do know there are more guns in the country than there are in the city? farmers'mums
It sucks how firearms enthusiasts here are treated worse than deviants, Britain's laws are fucking awful for sport shooters. Norway has had the best balance out of any European country so far as it doesn't ban handguns but still has rigid rules about club membership.
The presenter for the video wasn't very good, they need someone with a better understanding of the topic as a whole and the editing shows how slanted viewpoint wise it was. Especially with the ominous music and slow-mo shots of people holding shotguns.
I'm likely making plans to leave because of how shitty things are regarding gun rights here, as well as civil liberties as a whole.
EDIT: The biggest gripe about laws here isn't the rules with safe storage and licensing but more arbitrary restrictions on weapon types which aren't backed up by overwhelming evidence and sound policy discussion but more by hysteria and kneejerk reactions.
