hi everyone welcome back to my channel realm of words and pages and today i will be showing you my very ambitious tbr for the month of may so there was someone in the booktube community who decided that their goal was to read 30 bucks in 30 days i can't think of her name right now nor the name of her channel but i'll put a link down below so this tbr pile that i made was actually inspired by that goal um her goal to be able to read 30 books in 30 days am i going to try to attempt to read 30 books in 30 days no but i do have 25 books in my list and some of them are very hefty so i am going to go ahead and dive into these books because there are a lot of them and i don't want to take up any more of your time so the first books that i'm going to show you i am not even going to summarize them any longer because they are actually a rollover from my tbr back in march and also in april my tbr list that i made for april i did not religiously followed it i was able to finish my number of books that i wanted to do which was you know 10 and i just decided to swap books because i like again i'm a mood reader so i wanted to go and use the books that i was not able to touch uh for the month of april to go ahead and roll it over for the month of may and there was also one certain book that i was not able to finish in march um that i was supposed to have rolled over for the month of april but i did not even get a chance to really read it so i am rolling it over uh to its second month for you know the month of may so the first three books that are rollovers for from the month of april are from blood and ash by jennifer l armentrout uh the second one is love and luck by jenna evans welch the third one i felt so sad because i really wanted to get through this book uh for april but i just i did not want to force myself to read it if i was not in the mood but it is evan winter's the rage of dragons and the book that i am rolling over for its second month running would be the house of leaves by mark z danielski i'm not rereading this i am almost done but it's not done so i want to finish it for this month of may so these next two books in this tbr pile are actually my middle grade read for this coming month of may and the first one is called the iron trial by holly black and cassandra clare and this is the first book in the magisterium series this is the story of this young boy named callum who was not supposed to pass the iron trials because his dad forbid it um and it's just going to put his life in danger but ultimately he could not fail it he failed at failing the iron trials and so now he has to go to the magisterium where he learns that you know magic can be both good and sinister and so i have been collecting this books the series for such a long time it's just now that i am going to be able to read it so i am very excited for this the second book that i have in my middle grade read pile is of course exile by ooh that is very shiny and very okay you go exile by shannon messenger and this is book two in the keeper of the lost cities where we continue to follow the life of sophie who discovered that she was very she was telepathic and she was befriended by this boy named uh fitz who is also telepathic just like her and she was taken to this school for magic where she learns her abilities but then from there she is is more like a middle grade harry potter where she's learning that there are things at work that can be either both evil and good and so now you know i'm guessing that every single year every single book there is a mystery that she needs to solve which will eventually be part of a much bigger picture in the end the next three books that i have are part of my i want to say my why a contemporary slash fiction i don't know what kind of genre i'm going to try to put them in but the first one was actually from my previous haul and it is called the patron saints of nothing by randy reby rebay but this is the story of this young man named jay reguero who is so excited to be starting his life in you know university of michigan and all he had to do was just relax throughout the entire summer so that he can be fully prepared uh to go to a much higher education only to find out and discover that he had been called to go back to the philippines because his cousin had died and this was is part of this bigger drug war that is happening in the philippines and so now he must come to an understanding of what had happened to his cousin's life and from there he goes back to the philippines and he essentially realized that there's probably so many other things that he didn't know about his family his cousin and he's trying to come to terms uh on whatever had happened the next book that i have is a why a romance it is called spain or shine and this is by michelle jalen and this is part of the sas series uh students across the 70s i'm going to remember that one of these days but this is the story of elena who's always been casted in the shadow of her siblings and she wants to break away from that so she decided to go to take one semester overseas in europe go to spain live her life only to discover a cute boy and also discovers that she does have a voice she does have a purpose and she does not have to walk beneath or under the shadow of her siblings so this is again once again the whole point of the sass series is a short cheeky love story of and also self-discovery so we're going to spain this month the next book that i have falls in the why a romance slash fiction and it is the story of the museum of us by tara wilson red this follows a young girl named sadie who got into an accident she all has she does have a best friend she has a very loving boyfriend but in her in the hospital she calls out a different name a a different name of you know a guy and now everyone's trying to wonder who this guy is i think that's what this story is about but it is it goes through that part of our um humanity our character where we have that comfort person made up person that we build up in our mind and that's basically what sadie's going through she has this one person secret person imaginary friend i guess that she keeps with her wherever she goes and when she feels like as if she's under attack this certain person named george is her go-to person the next set of books that i'm going to show you are my why a sci-fi and fantasy reads that i'm going to tackle for the month of may and the first one is actually going to be a reread in this illuminae by amie kaufman and jay kristoff um i am going to try to finish the trilogy for this year but i can't remember really what happened uh detail-wise i'm going to reread this so i can get to the other two books but this is the story of these two corporations who's fighting over this little tiny planet and it doesn't matter how they get it but they're ignoring that there are also inhabitants that are still there and we have these two main characters who are both exes and they're trying to uh what they call that they're trying to evacuate everyone from this uh this planet before it blows up and from their uh adventure uh ensues and this book as you all know if you've never heard of the illuminae files this actually has um the way they did uh write this book is through little mediums of uh personal emails um announcements and um transcript uh different file transcripts so it's not like it's uh an entire narrative where you see you're so used to so that's why i like um i really like this first book i remember really liking it um when i first read it so i am excited to reread it again because after this book i am going to jump to the second one which is gemina and this is book two in the illuminae file series um and so it's going to happen this month guys i am going to read the first and the second book so that i can finally finish off this entire trilogy this year the next book that i have is called crave by tracy wolfe first seeing this it looks like it is more of a the twilight series hopefully it's not as painful but i'm guessing has something to do with vampires and mythical creatures so all i know is that it does happen all takes place somewhere in the pacific northwest i believe or at least somewhere nearby near the pacific northwest and i hope it is not a cheap retelling or or more like a you know like a vampirish vampire-ish um following of the twilight uh novel so i'm not really gonna go through the whole synopsis of this because i really want to be surprised um i know that the second book and the third book are out and that's why i want to go ahead and tackle this this month next book in this pile is thunderhead by neil schusterman this is the second book in the scythe trilogy as you all know scythe is all about this world where they've pretty much defeated death everyone is so healthy everyone has been pretty much everyone cannot die and in order for them to curb the population over population there are these beings these revered uh individuals called the scythes where they get to choose morally uh who they would kill so that they can keep the over popular you know the population uh under check but within the the society of size there are also those who just kill for the sake of killing and for the enjoyment of killing which should not happen um and so we follow these characters the main characters who are trying to be sites and from there they discover that there is also that grim darkness that oversees this revered society disrevered individuals of size and scythe and they are trying to figure out how to defeat that and while trying to stay alive and not get themselves killed the next one that i have is called an enchantment of ravens by margaret rogerson this is the story of this young girl named isabelle who loves to paint and the i'm gonna i want to see the because they call the fair folks i'm thinking they're the elves uh they come to her to get themselves painted because they cannot create anything because they're so delicate and they just i guess they don't have the talent for it so what she does one day is that she decided to follow on a summon by the prince of the fairfolk name brooke and he painted him but there was a flaw in the painting where his weakness was pretty much exploited and so now he decided to take her into his plan to stand trial for this crime only to discover that he is now fighting for his throne and so isabel and rook must come together work together in order for rook to be able to get his throne back and in turn throughout this entire journey we don't know they might have fallen in love so which is also against the rule of the fair folk so i it's it's a very short book and i have been meaning to read this for such a long time and now it's time the next one that i have is called the thief and by megan whalen turner and this is book one in the queen's thief novel series um this is a story of this boy named jen who has the ability the talent the skill to be able to steal whatever he set his mind on and that caught the eye of the queen and so the queen i had asked him to not really ask but more like demanded and ordered commanded him to steal the certain artifact this treasure and from there he goes on with this rag tag of people where they decide to pull this heist i have been wanting to start this again i'm still looking for book two um but i want to go ahead and start this because i know that i have pretty much all the books i think all the way to book six except for the second book so it is a short read and that's why i am putting it here on this tbr since i do have 25 books to read for this month next book that i have on this list i am just so excited because i've just finished watching the eighth episode uh a beautiful episode of season one of shadow and bone and it is king of scars by leigh bardugo and it this i mean this is all nikolai that's all i have to say so if you don't know who nikolai is read shadow and bone and then go ahead and read uh six of crows and crooked kingdom but i am going to go ahead and start this because i want to read the second book which is rule of wolves last book in my why a fantasy is of course the autonomy by trevor allen forest i don't know anything about this i don't want to know anything about it i want to go into this book blindly so that i can be surprised i have high expectations of this book because this is one of the books that i've been wanting to get for such a long time ever since it was it was released last year i believe september or august but i did have i did do a book unboxing of this thing and it is very hefty it's very thick but i believe the way it's written uh the writing inside is not that bad so i have been i'm excited to read this so i'm probably going to do a vlog a reading vlog when i i see i you know i start reading this moving on to romance my first book in this genre is of course don't you forget about me by barry mcfarlane as you all know i already read um if i've never if i never met you and i really did enjoy that so i decided i'm going to have a fluffy fun read uh for this month of may and it's going to be this book where we followed the story of georgina who caught her boyfriend cheating on hers and i believe they both work in the same place so she decided to quit and she enters a different job as a bartender only to find out that she is now going to be working with this man named lucas who she used to have a crush on the sad part is that lucas does not remember her so if this is anything like if i never met you if yeah if i never met you i'm sure i'm going to enjoy it i just love quirky romances and especially something like this where the guy doesn't remember her i think it's going to be cute and it's going to be very hilarious next book that i have i'm not even going to say anything anymore about this because again i just want to be surprised when i read this and also when i watch the adaptation to screen and it is bridgeton by julia quinn and this is the duke and i uh i don't know anything pretty much about this all i know it is it's a historical romance um and i've been meaning to watch the netflix series and i can't watch it because i decided i'm going to read this book first the next two books that i have are pretty much my horror slash thriller as you all know i i read uh home before dark and that's one of the book that pretty much killed my tbr but i wanted to dive in again in horror books and thriller and so the first book here would be riley sager's lock every door where we have this girl or this young lady named jules who started working and this i believe it's in like an apartment complex and she befriends everyone until suddenly one of the the tenants that she befriended disappeared and then she finds out the things weird things are happening inside this building and as you all know i love anything with a building and paranormal activities and weird things that are happening and mysteries and yes so this is going to be keeping me off my seat and uh i'm not going to be able to sleep the next book that i have i'm very excited because i'm going to be reading this book for the very first time and it's stephen king's the shining and in the simpsons they call it the shining i was just watching a parody of this the other day and i just i couldn't stop laughing about it but this is the story of this family who uh i i believe they were hired to take care of this hotel i think it's a hotel and there's just this this history of i guess like the father uh murdering the family or something like that but i have been wanting to read this for such a long time because i believe from what everyone has been saying this was king's uh most like the his scariest uh i don't know let me know uh down below if this you know that's in fact true but i have been wanting to read this for such a long time because every single time i would see clips and you know clips of the movie which i have not seen either i just want to dive into the book and so now i finally have my own copy and like i said every single time that i would try to borrow this book way way back then i would get to the first chapter and then something will happen in my schedule and then i'll have to return it back and so now i have my own copy and it's going to happen you guys this may one way or the other if i fail all 24 books this will be the only book that i will definitely read almost there you guys only four more books to go and we are now in the adult fantasy world and the first one that i am going to tackle this month when it comes to the series would be or the genre would be the sort of cayenne by emma wong this is a standalone i think that's what i believe uh as an um a standalone book and it is a theanite war story and from what i gathered this has something to do with uh being let's say ninja or summer samurai samurai so it does focus on japanese historical events and it deals with following this young boy who from an early age begins to train as a warrior and a mother's uh i i guess a mother's love for her son in a way i don't know but i don't want i i just want to get there's a lot of books this month i don't want to know anything about the synopsis i don't want anything i don't want to know anything about the book because i just want to be surprised when i read it and this is going to be one of those books and i know someone made a comment and one when i think i hauled this book someone made a comment that they lived in japan and i believe they also read this book and she wants to share yeah they want to see hear my um my take about this book once i'm done because as you all know i also live in japan for a very long time um and so i think at least for the month of may i'm going to religiously try to do a vlog every single week and this is going to be in those uh one of those vlogs next book that i have in this category is called every heart a doorway by shannon mcguire and this is a story of these kids who are in i believe in this school but then they also have access to these magical places whichever they set their mind to but then the moment that they come back to the real world of course they are changed and they're trying to get themselves uh to return to these uh make-believe world um but things happen when this a certain person arrives in uh their school and you know bad things happen so i really don't know anything about this book um except for what it says on the synopsis and it's a very thin book and that's why i i got it and i have some of the books in the series and like the iron trials by cassandra clare i want to go ahead and start this this year the next book that i have second to the last book that i have is called the black sun by rebecca rowan horse this has gotten so many approval ratings when it comes to uh here in the booktube community all i know is that this has something to do with this captain of the ship and she decides she's actually a an outcast of her people and she is trying to get from point a to point b uh and trying to deliver this person serapio something like that and they say that he's harmless but of course whenever you say something like that about someone it's not really true and i'm i'm i don't know and i think this is based on a south american folklore legend so this is going to be more of my diversity read along with uh randy rebuy's a patron saints of of nothing and yeah again diversity read that's what i've been wanting to do and get into for this year i know that i'm not going to be disappointed about this book because pretty much most of the booktubers that i follow really like this book so hopefully fingers crossed that i like it too and the very last book that i have i'm so excited for this one is called the royal assassin by robin hobb you guys as the assassins apprentice uh the first one that i got you know for the month of april's tbr i really enjoyed that i was really afraid to even really invest in the illustrated version because i heard that you know most the people that i know said that you just need to get past the farseer trilogy because you need that world building you need to be able to get the backstories that you can move on uh to pretty much the next series written by robin hobbs but it's not as good like it's very slow but when i got to reading the assassin's apprentice i really liked it i really loved the pacing i really loved the world building i loved how i mean the exposition of everything the way she described the world and how fitz was you know how she was reared from when he was a boy to how he was trained to become an in an assassin i really liked that the journey that he had to make and if that's what people are saying that you know it was taking too much time it was too slow then by all means keep at it you know i i don't mind it because the way robin hobb just the way she writes it was oh it was reminiscent of lorded rings and uh the chronicles of narnia and i love the way those were written so i am very excited to finally get to this book and if i finish it for this month hopefully i will be able to get to assassin's crest for the month of june so that's it you guys 25 books in 31 days i think yes 31 days for the month of may and am i going to try to kill myself on reading these books no but am i going to try harder to be able to read all of these books yes i am going to do my best to not deviate from the books that i have just shown you i am going to be again once again i'm going to try to do a weekend vlog every single week for the month of may let's see how well i do with that and also i'm going to try to do a mid-month wrap-up so that i'm hoping 25 bucks i yeah i i really hope that by the middle of may that i finish at least 13 uh books and hopefully those are the big ones the the hefty books that i've shown but thank you so much for watching this video if you would like to see more bookish contents like this please hit like subscribe and also hit that bell icon so that you can get notified whenever
