yo what's up guys and welcome back to another video today i'm gonna be doing a review on the matco master tap and die set the part number is one two four m a t d s you can pick this up off the truck for a 500 bucks um you can definitely find it online for cheaper matco is just a bunch of rebranded stuff so online this is probably like a three hundred two to three hundred dollar set so you can either get it off the truck make payments on it for 500 bucks or get it online for two to three hundred bucks i will try to find it online i'll put the link for at least this set from matco in the description if you guys want to go check it out i'll try to find the rebranded version of it to put that down there as well just in case somebody wants to just buy it out right but i'm just doing a review on it just because well one it's an expensive tool to where i feel like again i would want to review on this before i went out and actually bought it and this video is just going to show you what comes in this kit and i'm going to give you guys a little explanation on how often i've used it so don't mind me i'm going to be in and out of here trying to turn this thing so inside the kit so this is the inside of the kit so over here you have all your taps dies these how you're going to measure your threads you got a little screwdriver and then on this portion so with the 81 piece all you're going to get is this over here with the 124 piece you'll get all these drill bits as well and they come in a little case you get a bunch of drill bits all for the price of everything so all these drill bits here you get some extractors down here on the bottom and you get a bunch of drill bits and you get three each in the drill bits two of the smaller ones uh you get two here and two here three here and then three for the rest of them four there they give you some odd numbers which is weird i don't know why they just didn't give you three um in total so you get a bunch of drill bits some extractors on like a little plastic case uh it kind of doesn't fit like once you take it out putting it back in there it tends not to like to close or fit you just kind of gotta shove it in there but you get a ratcheting mechanism for actually putting your dies in so you take this piece right here you throw that in there you throw your die in here and you tighten it up with the screw it keeps it in place you back it out put a new die in then you can reverse which direction it goes with the handle like i said drafting and that's mainly why i bought it because it was one of the better to me this is one of the best tap and die kits that you can get out on the market right now you have your little chucks to put your taps in a small truck and a big check now the only problem i've had with this set uh for for me is i mainly bought this because of messing up lug nuts and some other kind of bolts and stuff but i do not use this as often as i thought i would was going to along with that some of these taps don't go big enough to where it doesn't fit all threads like m12 you have an m12 tap but that's the highest that it goes and you got but the highest thread that it's going to go is m12 now if you're looking for m14 that's a whole different kit completely [Music] and i would say personally if you're working in like a shop like firestone or meineke or mavis or anything like that personally i would say don't buy this it's not worth it if you're working at a dealership or a specialty shop to where people are gonna come in with broken bolts and broken stuff that you're gonna have to fix yes this might be worth it in the end it's not bad to have on hand just in case something does happen because then now you have the means to fix it but if you're just doing suspension breaks stuff like that don't get this kit get the smaller kit either the 81 piece or buy the the actual kit for um re-tapping and re-threading lug nuts and axle nuts because if you're working in those shops those are probably the most common things that are going to get buggered up um other than that you're not going to be i mean you're not going to be rethreading anything crazy this is what comes in the kit to me it was not worth the 500 i spent on it it's this i mean the the the added money was for the drill bits and the extractors so if you really need those then spend the extra money if you don't actually need the extractors the drill bits just get the 81 piece tap and die set same exact thing except it doesn't have the extractors or the drill bits and if you're literally just using this one time go and buy the cheapest set you can because well maybe not the cheapest set you can but a cheap set just because you won't need this in your everyday at-home life but if you're a professional and you do run into broken bolts and strip threads quite a bit this will come in handy this has saved me with drain plugs oil pans not saved me but i've saved other people with this kit for drain plugs oil pans putting in oversized drain plugs and stuff like that i've also saved myself with m12 sized studs that's my opinion on this kit if you guys enjoyed please leave a like if you guys have any different opinions please leave them in the comment section below and if you know of a better tap and die set let me know put in the comment section i'm sure somebody's going to be able to use that thank you guys for watching and peace out
