can you get the perfect print and cut on the Cameo 5 I think you can and I'm going to share all of my tips and tricks in this video here today I'm going to put a link to a cheat sheet in the description below it'll list all of the steps you need to take now these tips and tricks will work on any silhouette machine but this one is specifically for Cameo 5 hi I'm Brenda Lambert I'm a TJC license instructor for silhouette you found your way to silhouette 6s I do hope that you're going to join our little Community we would absolutely love to have you now if everyone is ready to make some stickers with laminate and without let's do this let's get our page set up I have it set to letter size here but I'm going to switch the O orientation over to Portrait then I'm going to set silhouette Studio to half of the page and and I'm going to bring on my sticker bundle for the other half of the page and change the view to large icon so I can see what's what there we go I am just going to select the ones I want and bring them on to my mat and of course we have to have the drink coffee and make stuff now that I have a good selection I'm going to bring silhouette Studio back to the full page going to head over to the third tab of the page setup and turn on the registration marks going to grab all of the stickers that I just pulled on and Center them so I can shrink them down a bit and fit more on the page when you're going through and organizing your stickers you want to make sure that you're going to have enough room for the offset in between the stickers and along the border and that you keep your hashed areas clear so now we can select all of these head over to the offset panel offset and that is way too thick let's bring that down and when everything looks good I'm going to go ahead select all of that and just group it together head over to the send panel and now you can see that the these came in with a cut line originally and then we made the offset so there are two cut lines here I do believe let's see if we can zoom in on one and tell for sure yes fit to page let's try cut Edge that turned off the inside cut line which is exactly what we wanted let's fit the page go back to design for just a minute and get ready to print check out the print preview if that looks good then go ahead and click print here it's going to bring up your dialogue box you're going to want to choose your printer and let's look at preference for just a minute here you can see that I have my document size set to 8 1/2 by 11 in that's a standard letter size I'm going to cancel this for just a minute and you can see here I do have my media set to letter size as well another option that you have way down at the bottom is printer so this way you know that it matches your printer settings that's one of the most important steps in printing cut is that the settings in silhouette Studio match the settings for your printer I printed off one sheet and I wasn't completely thrilled with the colors that printed they're a little bit Bland so I'm going to come on over to the image effects panel and I'm going to head over to the third tab that's contrast brightness and saturation and I'm going toing bring the saturation up you can see the colors changing on the screen as I pull that over I'm going to click apply and now I'm going to print a second sheet here you can see the difference in the color you want to make sure that your printed page is facing the same way as it was in the software this Square should always be in the upper left hand corner then you're going to take the corner of your paper and you are going to place it so that it just covers the top grid on the cutting mat not too far but you don't want that top grid showing as it can interfere with reading the registration marks you want to line your mat up just to the right of the guide and load the mat in now with the Cameo 4 I always close the lid I haven't had to do that with the Cameo 5 yet but if I run into any issues with reading the registration marks that's going to be one of the first things that I try these machines do not require any outside light to read the registration marks properly and if you have too much outside light it can throw Shadows or create glare and then throw your cut off so let's see how this goes [Music] I chose sticker paper white in the software that gives me a blade depth of two a force of 14 one pass and a speed of eight let's go ahead and check the cut on these before we unload the machine that looks like it cut nicely that is a kiss cut it's not a die cut that means that the backing remains whole and just the stickers are cut if you want to do a die cut with these I would suggest bumping the blade up to a three and do a second pass but the settings definitely depend on your machine and your material so you have to try out different settings for what you are trying to accomplish so here is the first set it looks pretty accurate none of them seem to have went off the rails I'm going to take this one as a win now the second sheet is the one that I turned up the saturation on you can see there are quite a bit more vibrant and I'm going to go ahead and put some holographic laminate on this one now I am going to say before I do this that this is kind of an experiment with the Cameo 4 I always cut out the corners so that my registration marks were not covered the sensor on the Cameo 5 is supposed to be more advanced I just want to see if it's going to be able to read the marks through this holographic laminate or not then we're going to to repeat the process we're going to cover the top line of the Grid on our cutting mat with the top left hand corner of our paper get that pressed down real good into the machine it goes now since this does have laminate on it I am going to bump my blade up by one I'm going to leave everything else the same and see how that goes might have to [Music] adjust I can see straight away that the cuts are not lined up I'm going to go ahead and print another sheet and see how that goes you know what let let's check the cuts on this first we'll use the emergency stop feature here to use the emergency stop you just push the onof button quickly and then you can eject the mat it did cut through I think I would do another pass personally a they didn't come off as easily as I'd like but you can see how far off the cut is on these so now what I'm going to do is I am going to print another sheet and when I set the laminate down I am going to leave the registration marks uncovered I'm going to cut the corners off of the laminate sheet before I set it down okay while that other sheet is printing out I'm going to go ahead and prepare my laminate since I have a copy of the sticker sheet that is no go I'm going to use that as a template to cut the corners off of the other piece of laminate now you can see that the registration marks are not going to be covered by the laminate that's exactly what we wanted I am going to turn off the overhead light I am going to put a second pass on for the software and we can try again fingers crossed and hit that like button if you really want this to work [Music] out okay that was two failed attempts let's close the lid [Music] okay it is having no part of this laminate I thought that that would be far enough away see if we can't take a little bit more off here that once this laminate is down it's very hard to get back up we might have to sacrifice this first sticker here it's not reading the first registration Mark which leads me to believe we need to keep the laminate all the way out of the hashed area because that is the area that the sensor Works within I'm going to try to cut it as close as I can to this sticker but I think we're going to lose this first one [Music] it is moving on to the second registration Mark which is a good sign and it appears to be cutting in the right spot okay they have cut well let's unload and check it out we just barely managed to get the entire sticker in there we did not lose it so that's awesome the cut is accurate I'm going to grab a different one here so we can see let's take this one this is from the page with the laminate where we uncovered the registration marks and made sure to leave the hashed area clear now this page is the one that we had the registration marks covered we ended up cutting them out for a guide and that was the cut result let's grab the original with no laminate hopefully all of that information was helpful to you if it was please hit the thumbs up button it helps me out a ton and it pushes the video out into the YouTube universe so other Crafters can find it as well now if you are in the mood to stick around on YouTube go ahead and catch this video next otherwise go create something amazing and I will see you in the next video
