WEEK. WE HAVE A LIVE LOOK RIGHT NOW ON I-80 THROUGH THE DONNER LAKE AREA. THERE IS SOME GOOD SNOW BUILD UP ON THE SIDES OF THE ROADS, BUT THE ROADS ARE CLEAR. A CHAINS ARE ACTUALLY REQUIRED ON I-80 GOING THROUGH KINGVALE ALL THE WAY THROUGH TRUCKEE. CURRENTLY AND CHECK THIS OUT THIS WINTER. WARNING FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. IT SAYS FROM THURSDAY TO SUNDAY, THE SIERRA COULD SEE ANYWHERE FROM 5 TO 12FT OF SNOW IN PLACES ABOVE 5000FT. THERE EXPECTING WHITEOUT CONDITIONS. SO TRAVEL WILL BE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE DURING THAT TIME FRAME. NOW WE CHECK IN WITH DREW TUMA, WHO IS TRACKING THE LATEST FOR US. HEY, DREW. >> YEAH. GOOD MORNING. AND IT'S NOT JUST THE HIGHEST PEAKS. WE'RE REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT. IT'S ALSO THE BASIN ITSELF. PLACES LIKE TAHOE CITY, HOME WOOD. WE'RE TALKING FEET OF SNOW COMING FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. SO WE HAVE A WINTER STORM. WATCH UP RIGHT NOW. THIS WILL GET TURNED INTO A WINTER STORM WARNING. I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF AT SOME POINT WE HAVE A BLIZZARD WARNING BECAUSE THE WINDS ARE GOING TO BE STRONG, THE SNOW IS GOING TO BE HEAVY, AND AGAIN, JUST LIKE JULIAN MENTIONED, 5 TO 12FT OF SNOW ABOVE 5000FT. BUT IT WILL START TO LOWER THAT SNOW LEVEL BY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY DOWN TO 3000FT. SO WE'RE ALSO TALKING SIGNIFICANT SNOW FOR THE FOOTHILLS. A LIVE LOOK AT TAHOE RIGHT NOW IT'S LOOKING LOVELY. IF YOU'RE TRYING TO GO THERE TODAY OR EVEN TOMORROW, YOU HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING THERE. EVEN ON THURSDAY, IT'S JUST LIGHT SNOW THAT WILL FALL AHEAD OF THE MAIN SYSTEM THAT WILL BRING JUST HEAVY SNOW. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. DO NOT TRY TO TRAVEL TO TAHOE. WE'RE TALKING SNOW RATES 2 TO 3IN PER HOUR. THE KIND OF STORM WHERE WE COULD SEE CLOSURES ON OUR INTERSTATES AND HIGHWAYS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, BECAUSE IT'S FALLING SO HEAVY THEY CAN'T CLEAR IT FAST ENOUGH. HERE'S A LOOK AT THE SNOW FORECAST. I MEAN, THIS IS JUST VERY IMPRESSIVE. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SOME AREAS. OUR HIGHEST PEAK. YOU LOOK AT DONNER. YOU LOOK AT KIRKWOOD. WE'RE APPROACHING 100IN OF SNOW. EVEN THREE INCHES AT PLACERVILLE IS IMPRESSIVE BECAUSE PLACERVILLE IS RIGHT AROUND 1700 FEET IN ELEVATION. SO IT'S NOT ALL THAT COMMON THAT WE SEE SNOW THAT LOW. WE'RE GOING
