MASSIVE BOOK HAUL 📚

apparently the key to happiness is to go to a bookstore buy a bunch of books and have zero regrets if there's one thing i'm good at it's book shopping if anybody wants me to bookshop for them hand over the credit card hand it over welcome back to my channel today i'm bringing you a book haul sponsored by disney book group i unhauled like six books recently which apparently was enough for me to be like well if i got rid of six books that means i can buy triple the amount i just can't help myself well i can but i don't and i wouldn't have it any other way i'm not gonna bore you with a lengthy intro let's skip to the good part books books and books and books and books and books first up here i've got ballad and dagger an outlaw saints novel by danielle jose alder this story follows mateo whose island homeland disappeared into the sea 16 years ago who vanished gone all the survivors escaped to new york and mateo now resides in brooklyn here he dreams of getting the attention of local music legend gurvel and showing him his piano skills skills for days piano skills got them skills did anyone else play an instrument as a child but ended up giving up on it and now lives a life with regret because that's me the night he gets the chance to finally meet his icon his legend his dream the evil that sank his homeland island decides to show up to the party and ruin everything and his life is completely altered when he witnesses a murder by someone he knows right before his very eyes when you think you know someone but they commit a murder right before your very eyes and you're like i don't know you but i do know you did this really just happened yes it did just really happen please don't let me be next on your hit list i'm gonna walk away ever so slowly now matteo finds himself in this ancient battle and ends up unraveling this magic within him the magic that in some way links him to the killer now that is a struggle if i ever heard one on one hand you're like wow i'm a magic boy but on the other hand you're like i'm links to an evil murderer oh no a literal double-edged sword or in this case a double-edged dagger dagger dagger dagger i know what my future looks like it's this book for breakfast lunch and dinner until i'm done no crumbs left this is the first young adult book in the rick riordan presents imprint and i hope that it opens up the door to more y a under this imprint because we need it can you imagine if one day we end up getting adult books under the rick riordan imprint now that is something that i absolutely need this is the first book in a duology titled the outlaw saints duology and it sounds like an epic adventure of wild proportions with an urban fantasy backdrop and lots of magic mystery and mayhem threaded throughout it i've actually been wanting to read books by this author for a long time daniel jose older he's not a stranger to urban fantasy which is why i'm pumped he's written a few in the past i've also heard him speak on several author panels and i always leave them just feeling his like fiery burning passion for writing and books and i'm excited to see his fiery magical writing skills unfold in this book i always love a magical book set in the streets of new york because i feel like new york is already in some ways a bit of a magical place and then adding like actual magic like that combination always a brilliant move rumor has it people who read this book are given 10 years of good luck i might have just made that rumor up no i definitely just made that rumor up why do i do these things can we talk for a second about how many books are now under the rick riordan presents imprint it's booming and thriving and i've fallen incredibly behind i'm drowning over here reader overboard i repeat reader overboard next up i picked up firekeeper's daughter which i just realized it has like a little tagline here keep the secret live the lie earn your truth intense in this book we follow donis who is never quite fit in both in her hometown and on the ojibwe reservation her dreams of working in medicine are put on hold when tragedy hits her family and she must take care of her mom when donis witnesses a murder that in some way involves the boy that she's seeing she quickly finds herself in the middle of a criminal investigation wait the way this sounds similar to ballad and dagger just without the magic what a cowinky thing i was about to go off on this book on a rant because i thought this wasn't a sticker and it was a part of the book but it's a sticker the way that was so easy get off me get off me get off i there we go i hate stickers on books stickiness on my book is a no-go i know they gotta do it but i don't want it keep the stickies to your selfies this is one of those books where i see it everywhere everywhere i look there this book is it seems like everyone has it it's always facing out in the bookstore which is a sign of a buzzy book let me tell you but i've yet to hear anyone talk about what makes it a popping book so i'm gonna pop into the book and see what's popping that just made me sound like such a dad what's poppin kids just call me daddy the reader from now on i think i'm gonna vomit let's stick to jesse i'm intrigued by the murder mystery element of this book and i'm interested to see how her booth thing gets involved the way i just realized my book has a tear that makes me sad you can't even really see it but i can see it that's what matters next up i got a far wilder magic in this book our main character margaret teams up with a boy named weston to take on the half moon hunt tihala is the last living mythical creature and whoever is able to kill it will earn fame fortune and unlock an ancient magical secret i feel like i'd not be able to participate in this because i'd see the magical creature and just be like you are my pet now i am keeping you forever i love you i'm sure the holla is dangerous though and that's why they're killing it at least i hope that's the case margaret is hoping that winning this competition will finally give her the chance to bring her mother home this book can walk into my life and walk all over me i'll allow it you know what i haven't read in a minute a y a book with a competition element and you know what sounds so fun right now why a book with a competition element in some ways it feels like a why a throwback because back in the day ew why do i keep making myself sound so old back in the day back in the heart of y a every ya book had some kind of competition threaded throughout it sure it might be overdone but it's also heck and fun and that's something that i would like to partake in sign me up for the competition i've been wanting needing begging for a book to just come in and just like deliver some kind of like fairy tale vibes and i'm gonna get on my hands and knees and plead that this book delivers that please oh please oh please i'm desperate next up i got girls of paper and fire i know i'm late to the party but there's no such thing as being late to a book party i'm ready to celebrate in this book every year eight girls are chosen to be paper girls to serve the king but this year there's a ninth and instead of paper she's made of fire earl is about to come through and burn this place down burn into the ground burn baby burn alexa play the chorus of fire by bts this is one of those books where i keep getting items related to this book in illumicrate boxes and i just gotta know what's going on i feel like there's a secret society that i haven't been inducted to and i'm here i'm ready to go through the ceremony and sell my soul to the dark side i'm giving you my soul girls of paper and fire do with it as you please i just need to know where i stand with this book i gotta know i feel like this has to be one of those books that i've been sleeping on i'm really good at calling y'all on sleeping on books that i want you to read but here i've been sleeping on this book don't worry i'm waking up y'all i hate the snooze button too many times i'm done with my extra five minutes of sleep wakey wakey it's a sapphic y a fantasy and it just hit me how in the mood i am for y a fantasy right now clearly i need some adventure some top-notch characters and some easy breezy beautiful young adult books if i don't read this book this year then i should have to sell my entire book collection it ain't gonna happen next up i picked up the lending library this story follows a woman named dodie who decides that she is going to open up her own little lending library in her sun room after the town's library closes indefinitely she decides that she is going to make her own little library this is a romance book but like maybe my opinions on romance books have changed maybe i've had a change of heart maybe i had a whirlwind romance of my own that changed my perspective false i did not have a whirlwind romance recently but i've been a lot more open to the idea of romance books recently maybe i've progressed as a human being whoever my life author is wrote a plot twist in my reading life chapter and things have taken a twist i do like the idea of a bookish-styled romance that's something that intrigues me quite a bit because if i'm falling in love i want books involved or nothing at all next up i picked up a pale view of hills this is kazu ishiguro's first novel his debut novel it follows a woman who is dealing with the recent passing of her daughter due to suicide we follow her as she reflects on the past and her friendships and all these relationships that have had an impact on her in some kind of way i just feel like this book is going to have me melting into a pot of sadness i've been wanting to give this author's books a try for a while now and i just felt like starting with the debut would be a good place to start seeing where he started and potentially catching up to where he is now that is if i like his books or if i feel like his books are for me because there is potential for me to hate this one and be like never mind no thank you i know his most notable book has never let me go but this is where i'm starting i've never even heard anyone talk about this book so that'll be kind of nice to go into this one without any expectations this one just sounds like it has all my favorite book elements thrown into a blender and blended up so i can't wait to drink up this book smoothie next up i picked up a thousand steps in tonight this story follows myoko i don't know if that's the correct pronunciation i looked up the pronunciation around google and i found nothing so i'm sorry if i'm wrong she lives in a realm where gods monsters and humans co-exist one day she's cursed and gurley begins to transform into a demon with a deadly touch imagine waking up one day and instead of having bed head you realize that you're transforming into a demon cute what do you know another why a fantasy that i'm excited to let my eyeballs dig into it's the way i didn't even realize how many ya fantasies i had picked up recently until i started filming this video like i even have some more coming up clearly i'm in a very specific reading mood i honestly just feel like this book is gonna be a lot of fun like of course it's gonna be like very serious the girl is turning into a freaking demon but i'm ready for the chaos i'm ready for the thrilling adventure where this character is just trying to figure out her life as a demon honestly why a fantasies are cracked on consistently but are rarely given the respect for being mood boosters slump cures and feels inducing greatness next up i got all my rage by saba tahir i want to snap a picture of this book and send it to one of my friends and just be like this book title made me think of you because you're all my rage every bit of it heart heart heart history follows sal who is doing everything he can to run and protect his family's motel after his father's passing and his mother's rapid health decline i just know this is gonna be a book where after i read it i'm gonna need a hug it has two elements that set my heart on fire with love one is the power of family and doing everything that you can for them and two the power of friendship and how important friendships can be during little life hiccups this is saba tahir's first contemporary story outside of the an ember in the ashes series and i just know that saba is gonna have me running for the tissues with this one snot grenades are gonna be shooting at my nostrils my eyes will be a full-on tear storm and my heart will probably be ripped in two can't wait for it next up i've got an arrow to the moon this is romeo and juliet meets chinese mythology in it we follow hunter and luna who are both navigating their family's enmity and secrets everything around them might be falling apart but they have each other and their love for one another i was not ready for this book i feel like there's been like no promotion for it like i remember hearing about it and then suddenly like five days before it came out i was like oh crap emily xrpin has a new book coming out gotta pre-order it gotta secure the book i loved the astonishing color rip after by emily xrpan even though it messed me up emotionally it threw me in the washer and turned the knob to emotional cycle this book does scare me though because while i have had a shift in terms of romance books that is more so in the adult realm i tend to kind of feel iffy in terms of romance when it comes to why a book so this will be a test to see how i feel i'm gonna go in with an open mind open heart and open eyeballs because obviously i gotta see the words i hope that my arrow ends on the love target and that this book hates the spot next up i got the girl who fell beneath the sea i am so excited about this book because i love the concept and i've heard great things about it so far i've heard that she just executes it so well so in this book we follow mina and each year in her homeland a maiden is thrown into the sea to serve as the sea god's bride it's believed that the sea god has been behind all these crazy storms and floods that wreck mina's village but when mina's brother's girlfriend is the one to become the maiden and sacrifice herself mina knows that she can't let this happen and so she decides to throw herself overboard and sacrifice herself now that is one good sister mina is swept away into the spirit realm seeking out the sea god but when she finds him she realizes that he is caught in an enchanted sleep so she takes on the mission to wake the sea god and break this curse that's been wrecking her village there's a part of me that's convinced myself that this book will be exactly like a studio ghibli film i've been trying to find a book that'll make me feel the way that a studio ghibli film will make me feel and i feel like this is a strong candidate i will keep you guys updated like even when i was reading the description i could just visualize this grand whimsical animated film in the style of ghibli and that has me excited i read a book by this author recently and i really enjoyed it so i'm hoping that this one is enjoyable as well next up i got my hands on a magic steeped in poison in this smoky follow our main character ning who unknowingly brewed the poison tea that killed her mother the poison tea that now threatens to take her sister's life when she learns of the competition to find the kingdom's greatest shinongshi i think that's how you pronounce it which is the masters and magical art of tea making she yields herself into the competition because the winner will receive a favor from the princess which ning thinks might be the only way to save her sister as someone who has finally come around to tea the fact that the magic system in some way revolves around tea has me wanting to hit up my local boba tea shop crack open this book and sip and read sip and read the last three books i'm going to talk about all together because they are the same book um i'll explain myself it's gallant by v.e schwab if you're new here i collect ve schwab books so i got three editions of gallant i've got of course the original us edition the waterstones edition and the owlcrate edition of gallant there are a few additions that i'm missing the illumicrate edition is coming and i could not get the forbidden planet edition and i'm still very upset about it because it would not accept my credit card so i was unable to get it i'm still very frustrated if anybody would like to send me the forbidden planet one i'll pay you back just saying gallant is the story of olivia whose only traces of her past involve her mother's journal when a letter invites olivia to come home to gallant she jumps at the chance but when she gets there she realizes that it's not everything that she expected it to be and quite frankly nobody was expecting her to show up so the question is who invited her home i'm very much so looking forward to getting to gallant i've heard that it's got like kind of a fairytale vibe to it which again that's something that i've been craving recently and i love me some ve schwab i feel like she is just a full-on master when it comes to storytelling those are all the books that i picked up recently and i'm very excited to get to each and every one of them even if it takes me like 10 to 15 years to get to some of them it's fine there's no rush but i am very excited about all of them you guys
