Mariah Carey Sings All of Your Holiday Favorites in a Game of Song Association | ELLE

gonna find out who's naughty nice i prefer to be nice but you know you never know what happens hey i'm mariah carey and i am here with elle magazine and i'm about to play a game of song association for my cover shoot let's begin oh wait before we get started let's discuss the fact that i have a christmas special coming up very soon on apple tv plus and it's festive also um just if you haven't gotten a chance to check out my memoir the meaning of mariah carey um it's just the most important project i've ever done and i really hope you get a chance specifically the audiobook but however you want to do it and it really means a lot to me so um check it out my holiday playlist is always complete because i work on it two months in advance snow i won't even wish for snow when i i've recorded and written a lot of holiday songs i've reinterpreted a lot of holiday songs but the first christmas song that i ever wrote was all i want for christmas is you and so it has a lot of significance for me as a writer and obviously as a performer it's great to be able to share a song with the world um and hear their experiences with the song their memories about all i want for christmas is you so um as a songwriter that's like the most incredible thing you could ever hope for gift of a gift he brings this is a section of a song i'm not quite sure of the memory of where it comes from i may have just written it just now so don't bite that if you're out there songwriters copywriting joy obviously when we talk about joy there's lots of things to say but the first thing that comes to my head is joy to the world which i do perform on my christmas special coming soon christmas hmm christmas i don't know what to say about it kind of obsessed with it um let's see [Music] never performed it never recorded it do love it don't think it's been top don't think it can be topped so there's that naughty um gonna find out who's not in nice santa claus coming to town naughty i prefer to be nice but you know you never know what happens winter walking in a winter wonderland never recorded that either there's a lot of different renditions of it i don't know why this is holiday themed only but guess what i have no problem with it you are going to hear the reoccurring theme of holiday jolly have a holly jolly christmas it's the best time of the year i'm festive i can't help it cold well there's baby it's cold outside there's so many but um i also have a song so cool but i don't really like that one anymore it's from my second album it's not worth listening to really wonder hmm well obviously when i think of wonder the first thing that comes to my head is stevie wonder he has quite the expansive catalog you can check out any one of his songs and you will feel the wonder of stevie my favorite artist tree underneath what is it how's it go hmm i don't care about the presents underneath the christmas tree again it's my song people always want to do this to me and tell me to say all i want for christmas is what it's not even that i don't even have one thing to say about that it's more i want this christmas to be amazing for us all we've really been through a lot this year and um i celebrate for my life every year and i'm gonna be so excited to celebrate this year and really to watch the special with my family and my friends and really just become immersed in the holiday spirit that's it well are you listening walking in a winter wonderland again some of the christmas classics people don't even realize how incredibly well written they are timeless born born on this day i have a song called born in this day it is on the merry christmas album i don't know that everybody knows it but it's one of my favorites that i've written card i don't know many songs with the word card in it there's probably a lot of commercials like i'm not gonna say the names of these cards but um yeah i don't i have you win on that one december december morning you make me feel so sweet new song there you go december morning don't bite it and you make me feel so sweet isn't what i would do if i had time to like really rhyme it but this is off the top of my head okay next frost frosty the snowman again never recorded that one do love it also the show frosty the snowman a classic classic not debatable not up for debate thanks so much for watching me play song association please don't forget to watch my special mariah carey's magical christmas special on apple plus and if you feel like it the meaning of mariah carey you can download the audiobook now on audible or you can buy a hard copy and it's an expression of something that means a lot to me so i appreciate everyone who helped make it a number one new york times best seller i thank you so much and have the best holiday ever
