hey everybody ready to give this a name 5-minute Fridays hey everybody so I want to show you guys something really cool some of us have drones you know I've got a magic Pro no hand for DJI there but I really like that thing one thing that I found very useful to do with it is to go out and make maps or surveys and I want to show you guys one of my favorite tools that I use and that's open drone map and it lets me process all of the photos from a survey mission into actual orthophoto so let's hop right in here alright guys I want to show you one of my favorite things to do with drone images so you fly out and you take images of different things well there's another way to do this you can go out and actually fly missions with you know actually automated software and take images of the ground and you can create a map so what I want to show you guys is some images are acquired with my Mavic and here's a here's a whole set of them right here we've got all these images here from park and what I want to show you guys is how we actually can process these guys into a good ortho photo for use in ArcGIS or QGIS or one of those type of pieces of software so do a jump right in here and we've got to our docker containers already installed so the doctor container that we're gonna actually use is open drill map so you see it right here we've actually got open drone map is our darker container we're gonna go ahead and run against the park this folder here and we're gonna mount that against code images the next thing we're gonna do is we're going to mount the ortho photo folder to odium code /o diem ortho photo inside of the docker container and then we're just gonna kick this guy off it is gonna go and find our images automatically create this folder if it's not created and start processing them so what this is gonna do is gonna go ahead and use a couple different processes to lay them out in a good pattern to create a 3d mesh and then create an orthophoto so this takes a while so I'm gonna go ahead and set the comer down and let you guys go for now and I will come back to this so now that we've got our other photos all processed we can go ahead and take a look at those in artwork though folder here we have the PNG that actually shows the bark from the top down now so we have this odium orthophoto tiff now the cool part where it falls into is its use with QGIS so let's go ahead and take QGIS go to our web open layers and go ahead and add Google hybrid so once we have this all set up we want to go ahead and see our map that we just created so we'll pull this up and we just drag this down into here and if we say zoom to layer still take us to our new coordinates and then we should be able to add our Google Maps to that or being for that matter so there we go so right here you can see the overlay stitch turn off Google ibrid and you tell this takes a decent chunk of horsepower but so here's the parts that we have images of and then the orthophoto will then overlay over the top of this so we have an accurate map here and of course you can do different things with your mapping and draw find volumes measures all that kind of stuff so that's kind of the the point behind this is being able to use an orthophoto in the proper context that being with other mapping capabilities so here's our ortho photo overlaid on the Bing aerial looked labeled so that's that I I do want to say that this is a kind of out there as far as people wanting to use it there's probably a small niche so hopefully this doesn't turn your way so but next week I've got some cool stuff we're gonna actually do some programming next week instead of docker and hopefully you guys stick around for that so subscribe if you like this and also like it if you found this useful I appreciate it everybody thank you
