Absolutely love the first base toss and kick. 10/10 here
again. trea turner just perfect hair at all times
The point that Jomboy made, they made a bad throw is where I think the judgement should come from. The 1st basement sets up in foul territory. That is what establishes the line for Turner to go to the inside of the bag. Else he would straight up plow that first basemen 😏
I thought Davey was just throwing the base for the sake of it, I didn't know he was aiming it to say "well if you want him to run on this path put the base over HERE!"
Jomboy always picks up on these cool little things I'd never notice even after watching the replay a bunch of times
The rule is bad. Needs to be changed for this specific play.
If I had a nickel for every time Trae Turner got called out for interference when he was just running on the established basepath, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice.
100% with Davey on this one. WTF ump
Wow this one is absolutely bullshit. Where was he supposed to run? Should he have looked back to see where the catcher was throwing from and then side stepped to give the throw space? He literally just ran straight to the base, a totally reasonable and normal thing to do, especially on a dropped third strike where you just wanna go as fast as possible since it's probably gonna be close...
Everyone arguing how dumb the rule is, is missing that it was completely misapplied here. The rule:
Turner had both feet on the chalk for at least his last few strides to the bag and while the throw was en route, and thus was inside the lane as defined in the clarifying comment. Had he been off the chalk in fair ground, the rule would apply. It should not have applied with him running on the chalk, and he only deviated to both reach the bag and avoid the fielder at first base. Bad call all around as Turner complied with every aspect of the rule.
The call from Game 6 in 2019 came after Turner ran off the chalk all the way, so the rule was correctly applied after he knocked Gurriel’s mitt off his hand ahead of the throw.
Absolutely love Jomboy. Dude is living the dream and I'm so happy they're doing so well.
