Man dies after dispute with tow truck driver at Brooklyn gas station, NYPD says

good evening thanks for joining us tonight I'm Jessica Moore a vigil is underway for the man who died after a fight with a tow truck driver in Brooklyn loved ones are gathering tonight to remember 61-year-old Carlile Thomas who they say was known for his cooking and his sense of humor tonight his devastated family spoke with CBS 2's Christy Kian it's just like a horror story at the end you know Andre Lee Peters is still trying to make sense of what happened to her stepdad 61-year-old car L Thomas better known in his East Flatbush neighborhood as quench on Saturday night his family says he parked the van he uses for work to drive children to school at his usual spot he parked his car in the gas station he had a couple drinks him getting the call to come back downstairs is what ended his life his stepdaughter share that for $10 the shell employees let neighbors park there but on Saturday night a gas station employee says Thomas refused to pay and walked home to his nearby apartment building about 2 hours later a tow truck was called and so was Thomas one of the staff members called him personally on his phone and said hey your car is being tow right now it's already on the tow truck the shell employee says an upset Thomas returned disputing the toe and got into a heated argument with the tow truck driver police say Thomas was punched in the face and knocked onto the pavement he was rushed to the hospital where he died and police say the 30-year-old tow truck driver is in custody I'm happy the guy was caught and I I just hope that you know time is served because like you took someone's life the gas station doesn't have any visible signage about Forester towing or any tow company we called Forester Towing and in response no comment a family now in disbelief that they have to mourn the loss of a man they say was the life of the party and always cheered everyone up anise Flatbush Brooklyn Christy Kian CBS 2 News police have not yet identified the 30-year-old driver they have in custody no word yet on charges
