Making embelishments from household junk

hello everyone this is Sue's Journal adventures and I'm Sue um I'm going to show you something today that I made the other night and I'm going to make it with you um because I did another video of things you can use in your own home for free and I actually forgot to show you a few things one of them was Kirby grips if you haven't got any paper clips in your house you might have some hair clips Kirby grips you can use them as paper clips um and because the kind of bulby shaped at the end you can even Loop cotton through there double it hang some beads on it knot it at the end and you've got a little dangly for your journal and I would recommend cutting I don't know if you can see it does oops what are you doing crazy cat lunatic um yeah the little I don't know if you can see it the little sticky up bit there I would probably cut that off with some wire cutters so it doesn't impede on your other Journal bit sorry I've got really mental cats um yeah so it doesn't impede on your other journal pages and make a hole in them I would probably just snip that bit off with some wire cutters but you could use them as Pig Clips um or is just a journal decoration just um if you've got any junk junk jump Rings just attach a few with some beads dangling off you know whatever a charm and you can just put them on the edge of the page as a little decoration um but to be honest I think you're probably more likely to have paper clips in your house than Kirby grips it's not something a lot of people use is it really um the other thing was um we get a booklet every month through the door and it's all local advertisers uh you know you can find a plumber or a gardener or a decorator or whatever and I just thought well that little booklet is actually a ready-made booklet all you have to do because ours is made of paper Oh my days is going in the cupboard this is not good and anyway what you can do what I would do with that little booklet I can't show you because I would probably stick card on the front cover and on the back just to give it a bit of strength cover it in some really light Fabric and then on the pages inside where all the advertisements are just put some white copy of paper on it and then decorate from there and add to that whatever you want to add to that so that was another idea and then I found these when they were going around my house looking for things for part two I saw these because I've got three or four Reed diffusers in my house and when I've filled them with water about four times and actually really really really don't smell anymore I put these into my underwear drawer they still smell nice actually um but I just I was looking at them I'm thinking can I make something with them um anyway the answer is I can and this is what I made [Music] there you go that is what I made from read diffuser reads and it's so simple now I just want you to be aware that summary diffuser reads are wood and some are this this is like really really condensed paper and so this was easy to cut I'm not so sure about the sticks they might be a bit harder but it looks like a little raft I don't know so I'm going to show you how to make this but if you're a person that's starting out on a budget you don't have the ink pad you don't have the bark flowers you can't print words off Pinterest because you don't have a printer we're going to make it without those things so we're going to make the little raft and I'm going to color it with a brown felt tip 10 so that's all you need um on one of my videos the other day talking about things you can use in your house if you've got any old silk flowers if you've changed your Decor cut some petals off them I'm going to try and make a flower with that that might be the most fun part actually but um so I'm going to try and make my own flowers and as for the quartz if you haven't got print Pinterest and you can't print things off let's get a word out of a book so let's do that just let me get my word I have pre-looked for a word because tell you what I've got about four books out and I couldn't find a word I like you serious in all these millions and millions of words I can't find a word anyway I've found one and it is loyalty so I don't care if it's Courtney at this moment in time so I've got loyalty that's a nice little word cut out of an old book is really and I'm it let's show it oh good grief it is no book 1912. so yeah it's all kind of poems and songs is this uh I thought surely I'll find something in there after pulling out an algebra book and a aerodynamic science book I'm like oh goodness sake found a word I pre-cut some of the little dudas did I just lose one then it will surprise me everything goes in that draw right so I've pre-cut some of these little things so the first job is to glue them together that's probably the most messiest and annoying part of it I might just want my tweezers of something anyway just to hold them still this was the the most fiddly fluffy part are you um you're in shot earlier you can see what I'm doing I hope so I'm just gonna splodge a bit of glue along the edge and put the next one up next to it doesn't matter if they're not the same size doesn't matter if they're not perfect it's a junk journal and we're making stuff out of junk so let's just go along there with some more blue just a thin bead of glue should do and just pop them all together this is the master fluffy bit I'm actually not I shouldn't no I won't say it I'm not going to say it because I know it'll just all go wrong I was gonna say I'm not the faff I'm gonna say it I'm not faffing as much as I was faffing the other night um but yeah so just get the glue on the side and stick all your little whoopsies all your little Reeds together can you still see me would you like to whoopsie would you like to come a bit closer please don't fall out phone please don't fall out right [Laughter] um I've just got a bit more blue I just run it along the edge and what I thought this is it sticks it might be a little bit chunky for the inside of a journal but wouldn't that make a lovely decoration for the outside you know on the front cover I think well something like that and a bit of lace and stuff around it that it's quite cute so here it goes keep going still keep going don't chat too much let's keep going I'm going to try and do a couple of things on this video because I am aware that I do chat and awful my daughter evens it's me chat loads mum and you're always moving your hands and I'm like well I do kind of talk with my hands anyway but what else can you do when you're doing a video and there's not really much for people to see at that moment in time you've got a you've got to use your hands she makes me laugh should I eat you waving your hands about all the time mum so it's nice though to get you know some if if it does look really stupid I'd rather people tell me um I'm all for people being honest oh gosh I'm getting a big bubble coming out Sid but what are you doing in that cupboard but you know what my cat is being really annoying since I came home meowing his head off he's being fed the back door is constantly open okay now leave them open for the cats because my Garden's enclosed oh gosh that's a big blob um and he's just been meowing his head off at me and then he come flying upstairs like a little not cares and now is if you can hear a noise it's my cat gruffling about in my cupboard I need to try and move these off of there so that they don't actually stick to the table they're just sticking to me instead oh I've got a Vesuvius going on I need to teach you I ain't got a tissue anything in within that'll do pop the lid on quick that one that Vesuvius going on right so that's that done okay so I'm really going to utilize my time today so while that little thing please don't stick to the desk while that little thing's drying I'm just going to move it to the side very carefully okay while that's drying just let me get this glue mat turned over I'm going to show you something that's inspired me because the other day I was talking about pens can we use our pencils Pence whatever um can we use our pens as paint but then I started thinking about little decorations you can I don't know I can't draw maybe you can draw I cannot draw but I can doodle so around the edge of our journals we can doodle I did show this on the last video I'm trying to be neater um we can do little flourishes and just go up the page and every so often just do a little flower so you can doodle right right round the edgy page and that looks very nice and very effective um but then I tried this I'm going to show you because I quite like it I did that okay I'm gonna do it again so basically all I did was a circle as if I was drawing a flower and I did some circles within the circle and it's just I don't know if it's called um I think there's a name for this actually is it Zentangle or something I don't know and then I drew some petals trying my best to be neat and keep them all a similar size like I say I'm not very good I'm not very good at drawing should I bring you down a bit again cap and see what I'm doing right up there can you like what is that spec on that paper oh my days are getting worse yeah don't look at me drawing but um something like that then I filled in the gaps in between with more petals this is really bad my other my other drawing was a lot better but time with it I'm rushing because I'm on a video then I did this weird thing like every so often just come out is this called Zentangles where you just draw crazy shapes and stuff um and the reason I started doing this oh gosh I'm not going to fit another one in there no one um I'm just gonna put a little hat in there um the reason I started doing this is because when I've done that doodle on my page the other day it reminded me of something that I was sent a lovely lady sent me a rack a random act of kindness all the way from Australia and she'd put lots of stuff in there for me to use but she'd also put some kind of half done projects and like she'd started them but she's not quite finished them so I put my own twist on them and made them into other things but she'd done some of this like Zentangle stuff on it think that's what it's called may just be simply called Doodles I don't know um that noise was not me it was my cat um so yeah I just kind of kept going with little um I don't know flicks little things coming out each each and I just made it bigger and bigger until it looked like that one and I thought and then I wet it with the water brush and I just thought so that's quite cute that look that would look quite cute just as a page decoration in the corner ignore that bit there um so yeah I quite like that idea and sitting here just doodling and doing that it's quite therapeutic and it's also another way of using your pens so the reason I did it I'm going to show you what this lady sent me and use them all she sent me these all the way from Australia bless her and as I say some things were done and some things were not so she sent me this let me move you back up again so she sent me this and she's colored the background she's actually drawn all of that all those flowers are hand drawn and little dots Roundup and little twills and I saw that was so cool and it's it's just the back of a pad you know when you get that thick piece of card at the back of a writing pad that's all it is all I did was stick and stick a coil on there that's what I don't really need to do anything to it because it's pretty but then she sent me this other one and look at that that's what gave me the idea this was just plain white um but she done these Doodles on it and I just thought oh that's cute looks quite effective so I added the ink and then I decorated the other side and made it into like a bookmark thing and I even paid homage to it by putting an Australia sticker on there um and then she'd done this one I've Inked it I've stamped it and I've put the sticker on but she'd done this bit round the edge so she's done lots of these little Edge bits and I just thought you know what that is so cute this one do you think it's stitched it's not it's pen she's just done it with a green pen and I'm like wow that actually does look thorn and I decorate the middle she just sent me the piece of card with the eyelips in it this one just a plain piece of white card so I need it to lower your I Inked it and stamped it with all the little bumblebees but then she'd sent this bit that wasn't decorated it was just that bit on a piece of white card so again I Inked the card stuck a flower on it stuck a bit of um meshy stuff and a word but look at that doodling that she's done how really cute is that so I was like do you know what I really like these things that she's done this one she'd put the colors on um I'm holding it so I uh she'd put the colors on all I've done is add the pocket add the butterflies add the quote and a couple of stickers so she'd predominantly made the card I've just added bits to it but look at that going round the edge just a pen drawn can you see it shall I bring you down I think sometimes it's better in Focus if you come down to it so how fantastic is that and she's just doodled right round the edge which I think looks awesome I'm gonna try that myself but then she'd also done that on the back little flowery things so that's what made me think oh why did I try to do a bit of that doodling doodling Malarkey so I did so anyway I think my thing might be dry now right we're dry yeah a fabric attack don't take long so if you don't have an ink pad you might have a brown marker pen so I'm just gonna go over it with the brown Mark pen that doesn't even look Brown it looks black how weird is that so what I did with the other is a rubbed the ink pad over it but because there's valleys it didn't quite get in there so I'm just gonna go over it doesn't have to be perfect you don't have to sit coloring every little speck of it oops sticking up a bit there um you don't have to cover every Speck of it I did Cover color the edges because I thought if I stick it on the outside I'm not going to do that now that's a bit laborious you don't need to watch that but you can color the ends as well have I just got yeah I have don't pick it up till it's dry top tip um so yeah I just went down the creases getting as far as you can I don't know if it's going to work with this pen actually because I did it with ink and the ink didn't do that to my fingers it might be because it's pen maybe pen wants to if it is try shoe polish or something like that so I'm just going to do that the best I can and hope that it doesn't rub off it probably won't rub off it probably just needs time to dry um if all else fails get an ink pad just a cheat 97p one from um from the range oh dear me see ya anyway I think you get the gist you don't need to see any color every little speck then I got my um little AliExpress paints nice pen I should move over so as you can see what I'm doing and I just went in the gold get a bit of water in there get some of the gold and just paint little bits of gold here and there not everywhere just here in there and not all of this um white is covered could actually ah did I use some of this brown or just put gold in my brown now could just try a bit of that on there as well so we've got multiple excuse me multiple colors on there I did that right knit microphone London sorry it's nice actually I don't like that because it gives it a bit of a metallic doodle right I'm not gonna bother you we're painting it too much so that's that I'll clean that off in a minute right oh gosh that was the part I'm not looking forward to this little quote what's this here okay um okay I'm just going to take a bit of this card because I think with that being book page and that being ripply it's not really going to stick very well so sorry I'm doing that off camera not that you really need to see me put in a bit of paper I'm pretty sure you know how to do that um I'm just gonna take that edge off daba around dauber is around just ink it a little bit so this is just a word out of a book um and I'm gonna back it onto a little bit of card just to give it a bit of strength because the paper's probably just gonna I don't know Wibble wobble on there very good with my descriptive words and I just move over there we go and I'll just chop the excess bits off and that's just a bit sturdy and I wanna just on a little piece again in fact why didn't I ink it when it was on the card it would have been easier wouldn't it you know me I never do things the easy way and I was doing the hard way right there's my little word and there's a little mess and now oh gosh this is the bit I'm not looking for if I even know if it's gonna work is it I want to make a small flower so I'm gonna have to cut into these [Music] um thinking about how I would need to cut them actually it's a weird shape but hey just go for it just go for it if you're not bald and you don't try you never know what might happen just sometimes I've tried some stuff and just being flabbergasted at how cool it looks afterwards and I'm like whoa did I really do that it's Buffy I hate fluffy things foreign because I'm pretty sure you don't want to see me cutting all these out but unfortunately guys I don't know how to pause and carry on filming I don't know how to do that so just if you barge just fast forward me I don't mind I'm not offended probably want to fast forward me half a time anyway because I just top behind legs of a donkey I remember this um this man a good friend of mine he was an older man and he's passed away now but my friend talks a lot and we were all out one day and he says she talks the iron legs of a donkey that woman he went there's loads of donkeys in the field somewhere with window legs I still remember that sister a field full of donkeys with no legs I'm just cutting these in triangles now I'm already bored could still use eight after as well you know I don't know um I do it long ways I suppose I get a few more out of them but I have a quite enough do you think I don't really want to make loads because um yeah it's time in it time is of the essence right so oh my Gideon I've got to try and assemble these into some some kind of a flower I really should have pre-tried this before I came on camera I really really should okay um okay punch punch I just need a little punch maybe that one yeah that'll do punch a bit of card I've got a big cat paper anything just punch a little circle that might be too big a circle actually I'm just wondering if it might be better to have a little base it probably will for me to have a best I cannot imagine how horrific this little flower is gonna look but you know you never know until you try and I took I took the um challenge to do it on camera I could have been all clever and tried it beforehand you know like most people would prepared beforehand and and did it all you know you know like blue Peter people in England here's one I made earlier yeah I'm not doing that I'm just doing it the hard way probably making a total fool of myself but hey I've cut these in really weird shapes but I think you get the gist is you can make a flower out of a flower tools I should probably get more glue in there fabric fabrics Brill Bridge was dry pretty quick um I just stick them to I don't think I've got nowhere near enough petals to make this very random looking flower but I'm just gonna keep going because I'm not a quitter I don't give up [Laughter] wait you're all fat and I thinking now give up soon really just give up right I'm gonna put another blob of glue in the middle well yeah like that Squad oh not that squagy good grief um and I'm just gonna try and cut a few little more petals because I don't think I've got enough sorry sorry if this is barring whoops that's completely wrong that's not a petal um that's flown in that's lost forever in my desk I can't close my desk because um the camera that I have attaches to the desk um only problem is my desks are really big thick side so the only place I can attach the camera is where my drawer is so I have to kind of leave the drawer open but anyway so yeah all my rubbish and debris falls into the desk get off my finger DNA I bet you I bet you're good having a good laugh at this anyway if you're having a good laugh that's better than not in it really at least we're available these are just the worst shape of petals I've ever seen in my entire life come on guys play play the game these tweezers are a bit rubbish as well I'm blaming tweezers now but seriously I need something else another pair of tweezers call Lindy call Lindy you know we need help we need help we're really really I really need help well yeah probably right okay that you you don't belong here get off invader pick the thing up right so that's my really random petal if you had more petals cut properly because you'd take time to do it um unlike me who has just done it on camera and met at all who are of it you could take time and make that prettier okay cut the petals nicer stick them carefully me for screen time purposes I'm just doing it quick I should have pre-prepared remind me of that um and then all I want is um oh I don't know a little um I don't know why when I got go in my bling box I always end up getting these so let's just have one of them mediumly sized things this is the worst file we've ever seen in your life that it's a flower and it's going on this whoops it's going on this raft I better put a bit of glue in there because yeah have you ever seen a flower like this one listen I don't know what type of flower is that it's uh I don't know it's a sue flower that's what it is oh my petals moved stop sticking to me it was a good idea to put that circle on the back because otherwise it had by now it would be stuck to my desk a gemstone in the middle [Music] and we have this really I don't even want to show you a close-up of that it is hideous you might be better at doing this than me this cutting cutting anything out is not my forte drawing cutting cutting straight lines absolutely no but anyway I've got me raft and I've got a flower and I've got a word so basically you just stick all that together and you've got another one of them little decorations just using things in your house okay so you can make this beauty out of stuff in your house I think you've had more time and then I took my time and did it more carefully I would make a better one than this but this was just to show you that you can make it and it is pretty easy that flowers horrendous but I said okay you know nobody goes around scrutinizing your general do they and look in every little thing and saying that's not straight that's not right and if they do well they shouldn't be looking at your Journal just remind them if anybody does that to your Journal that it is a junk journal and it's not meant to be perfect okay so there we go that's a read diffuser raft I don't know what else to call it it's a little embellishment so um I do prefer this one so I'm going to keep showing this one because that one's a bit you know that that's a [Music] um but it's a nice little accent to the front cover of your Journal so I hope that's given you a bit of inspiration maybe you can find other things to do with the reads from your read diffusers maybe you can I don't know you'll have to let me know um that one's still a bit gluey actually but yeah it's okay it might go in the um that's the word the defunct box things that I'm not keen on um so quickly quickly I'm just going to do another little demo because I got these tags off of um they're basically just off a gift bag you know right you get those um wine carriers or gift bags and I had a coloring book flower so I've mentioned coloring books before if you've colored pictures in Cut things out of them cut you know little bits out because it it's just nice and you can make something nice from it so this is just a coloring book page flower and I thought well because it's a similar color to the background All I'm gonna do simple simple simple can you say simple anymore so it's just stick it on The Middle and then on the middle of that I'm just going to add a very quick I did pre prepare these so you're not sitting around all night waiting for me to cut things out so there we go then I just put love on there and that's it tagged on so that is just junk from your house if you've got any coloring box again you can use a book word and that's just a tag offer a gift bag if somebody sent you a gift and I've got another one because this gift bag I had had two tags on it so this one a lady sent me this really pretty um die cut in a rack um so I thought that was nice that's a similar color so I'm gonna put that on but first I cut out some of my circles I think on the very first video I did you saw me cutting out circles and stamping little flowers on them so all I've done in this on this is stamp letters on and I've already pre-inked it I'm getting Vesuvius going on here now so I'm just going to go around the edge with this I don't know if it's in the right place I'll find out shortly and so I've just stamped love with my letter stamps I've moved that up and made a mess there now um they don't ink very well because the the glossy they will take the ink it rubs off a bit but it just does I don't know if you can see it leaves a slight bit of color in around the edge so it will kind of help if I have my tag thing at the top because this is going to be slightly off now but you've got a few seconds with the um fabric to move things put the egg on oh so yeah I just thought I'd show you these very quick because and even if you haven't got any die Cuts or a die cutting machine you can cut something out of a magazine if you just want you know oh gosh how am I going to stick this thing okay I'm reverting to the glue stick glue stick where's the glue stick gone it's up here I don't even know if the glue stick's a good idea to be honest probably just gonna stick to it and break it oh I don't know no that's not a good idea yeah I'm gonna glue I'm gonna glue I'm gonna try my fine nozzle if it's not blocked again this I love die Cuts but this is the thing I don't like is this ain't gonna play because it's probably blocked oh the joys of crafting okay just put my little pin back over there right you're gonna come out this time I only need a little bit just to stick the fluffy bits down come on Club it's coming there we go I just need someone like the outer bits I'm not bothered about all the inner bits because they'll just stick down anyway is there any glue even coming out yes right can you see me all right oh my goodness why did I pick a die cut like this one I could have picked something a little bit easier to get glue on corner well as long as it's got some glue on it a little thick metal anymore yeah probably um see as I go along in these videos I'm I'm not a person that likes to faff a lot and measure and be very precise I'm like no I just want to crack on and do it yeah so there we go there's another one it's not brilliant I probably yeah I think well where's that round pen let's um can you see me let's put some fake stitching around the edge of them just to make it look a bit better I don't know if it will make it look better but hey just a bit more added interest [Music] um so yeah simple thing like stick some book page to a piece of card here's your circle punch cut out some circles you can make words you can make little pictures stamp it with pictures stamp it with flowers whatever do some floor stitching around the edge I like stitched things I just don't have a sewing machine and I really cut so I'm going to show you some that I made yesterday yeah you'll get a look at my sewing then so that's that and where's the other one that's that one and that's that one just add two gift tags off um a gift bag and things that I already had in my house like a coloring book and book pages I've got some stamps so they're quite simple little things I'm just going to show you these before I go I don't know if I should show you these so this is my sewing um what I've done is I had a piece of linen fabric think um it was in a little pack of bits of fabric that I bought so I just went through stamping little images on them because I'm trying to embrace Fabric in my cookies and cream journal and so far I've I've put one pocket in there one fabric pocket and I think I've got um a word stamped on fabric that's it that's the extent of the fabric in my journal so I thought if I make these at least I can stick these in or I can back them with some lace and some other bits and pieces and put them in so I made this so this is the stamped image and just put a bit of lace down the edge back to I probably should have used different colors and I've got a bit of cheese cloth a bit of um raggedy old vintage cotton lace and then I've just got a piece of fabric behind it to kind of hold it all together so yeah that's my sewing that's why I don't so because I can't even sew in a straight line um and then this one is pretty much the same thing a different flower I've only sewn across the top on this one because this already had stitching around the edge which is way better than most did you so I've stuck that down a bit of cheese cloth again a bit of vintage lace and then I just did um I've got a piece of brown fabric that were on my desk and I thought okay I'll just ruffle it around the back and that's another little um is it a snippet or is it a cluster somebody tell me because I I get very confused with Snippets and clusters I'm not entirely sure which is which I think it's I think it's a plaster I don't know version It's a thing that I handmade for my journal so there we go I hope you enjoyed this video and I hope you've had a laugh because that's what it's all about and it's crafting and fun crafting chat a bit of fun and a bit of laughter um and I'm glowy gunked to death now and Inked as well very yeah very Inked so yeah that's it for now um on my next video I think I'm gonna make some tags from greetings cards um stencils if you've got any stencils if you haven't if you've got any mesh or a plastic place mat with holes in it or a bit of orange um I showed you it yes yesterday on the part two video of crafting things in your house that mesh you get round oranges you can stencil with that so I'm going to stencil all I'm going to use is clean greeting cards um stencil flowers cut out of a book and I'm gonna make some homemade stickers to put in them so I'll do that on the next one I hope you've enjoyed this one thank you all for my
