Making a Mosaic Tree Stump Table

uh [Music] so we're starting on this project today this stump is from a cedar tree mark cut down several years ago right now it's not level [Music] so mark's going to level the top cut it off for me so it'll be a nice smooth surface and i've been working on my mosaic design for the top and once it's done i have a little table that i can keep on the deck or put on the future patio or whatever so i'm excited to get started can i help you she just wants you to pet her it's just a ham yes [Music] ah [Music] [Applause] [Music] these are the holes i need to fill here's one big one there's some small ones here there's one here [Music] it's kind of a big one and this is a deep one kind of goes into the side so [Music] let's see what i can do [Music] do [Music] so the wood filler is done it's dry i'm gonna have to come back and sand but i've got all this to work with now i'm gonna get some wood glue and try to push this in and hold it over here too it's really bad this is what i'm using it's waterproof exterior [Music] no idea if it'll work [Music] [Music] [Music] you may be wondering why i didn't just peel all this outer bark off but i like the way it looks we have so many cedar trees out here and that's what they look like we even used cedar post natural cedar posts for our carport [Music] just like the way it looks [Music] okay now we wait for it to dry [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] it's pretty smooth it's not perfect but it's a lot better so now i have to figure out how to get this elastic off without destroying the wood around the edge don't think it's happening all right let's try the next trick i can just touch that with a marker or something so you can't see the silver [Laughter] [Music] [Music] it's done oh my gosh how many staples that i put in there oh my gosh more than enough [Music] oh my goodness these six tiles for the mosaic that are going to go in the center are a lot thicker than the other tiles and so they would stick up more so what i'm going to try to do is trace them first and then use a dremel tool kind of dremel out the wood that way i can kind of push these tiles down and hopefully make it more level once i've got all the other tiles on there [Music] [Music] one [Music] i finished cutting out all of the holes for these thicker tiles and now it's time to put the tiled adhesive on and go ahead and tile everything just hoping i don't i don't destroy it in the process so let's see what happens [Music] do [Music] uh [Music] so [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Music] okay oh my gosh it's a mess i have my design all worked out i just need to go as fast as i can [Music] do [Music] okay so i'm going to lay a board on top of it just to hopefully get everything as level as possible and let it dry that way and then tomorrow i will try to grout all right and now we wait wow [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
