Making a horn bow - How to make a composite bow

This glue has been used for centuries. 1 day later .... again 1 day later .... Round slightly 2 water buffalo horn for 1 bow. Only the outer horn strip can be used. In the hot steam the horn becomes very soft. a few hours later .... Hollow out inner side slightly. Apply glutin glue .... .... and allow to dry. This process is repeated about 6-8 times. a thick layer of glue is formed. Dissolve the glue with water .... .... heat the horn for 3 minutes and the glue becomes soft .... .... press. 1 week later .... The horn side is formed. Starting at the ends of the bow, the wooden core is formed. Dried animal sinew. For this bow I use deer back sinew. Comb out tendon fibers in parallel .... .... coat with glue .... .... shapes .... .... and wait 15 minutes. The glue is gelled. With water, heat, and a delicate touch, I apply the sinew coating to the bow. The first sinew coating is ready. 2 weeks later. The second sinew coating follows .... 3 month later .... The glue und sinew is now completely dry. The sinew coating is smoothed. A piece of bone is fitted in the middle of the bow. Also beef bone for the bowstring bridge. The bow is clamped for the first time with a bending gauge. Leave stretched for half a day. Finish at the ends of the bow Leather Winding made of glued animal sinew. Mother-of-pearl The bends are precisely adjusted by ablation on the horn side. Birch bark makes the bow waterproof. The thickness is 0.2 - 0.3mm. A little honey in the glutin glue makes it more flexible. Apply glue and allow to dry. Dissolve glue with water. An arrow guard is glued on. The bow is oiled.
