welcome everyone to bonafide custom to our special week of consecutive videos don't forget to subscribe because at the end of the week only subscribers will be entered for the giveaway now today we're gonna be building a titanium survival knife as my customer calls it the bone crusher let's get right into it so to start off our titanium survival knife we're gonna have to do some drawings the overall dimensions of this knife is gonna be about 13 inches long five millimeter thick and about two and a quarter inches wide at its peak so let's do some drawings [Music] now that we have our drawings done we have this billet of titanium and we're gonna take this and we're gonna put it in the Forge and we're gonna draw it out and Forge it down to our overall dimensions now this alloy in particular is called 6a l4b it is a very tough and strong alloy used in aircrafts the reason why we're going to use this titanium to make this survival knife is because a survival knife needs to be extremely tough it's not necessary necessarily has to be extremely sharp it's more for toughness and titanium after forging is basically indestructible it's also a big knife so if it was a steel knife it'd be pretty heavy titanium is about 45% lighter than steel so that's another reason why we're gonna make this knife out of titanium [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] now that we have the titanium all forged we're going to take our template we're gonna draw an outline of the actual blade itself and then we're going to take it over to our milling machine and mill out the rough shape and thickness of the blade now I like to use the milling machine instead of just grinding it because it's a lot faster and a little more accurate when you're bringing things down to size so let's do that [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so after we roughed out her shape on a milling machine I took it over to the belt grinder and ground down the shape a little bit closer I also ground the angle the cutting angle and I put a pre finish at about 220 grit sandpaper on the blade itself now we're gonna make some scales and fit them to the blade now these scale is going to be special they're gonna be made out of billet aluminum 6061 t6 we're gonna take it over to the milling machine again and we're gonna put a crosshatch knurl on it with our sham fur tool and this will give it a real good grip and it's a really tough scale [Music] [Music] now that the scales are all fitted to the knife we're gonna powder coat them but before we can powder coat them we have to put a little finish on them so we're gonna glass bead them first and then we'll put the knife back together [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] thanks again for watching bonafide custom and our awesome build of our titanium survival knife the bone crusher thanks again thank you for all your support now keep in mind this week at the end of the week we will be having a giveaway but the giveaway is only for subscribers so if you haven't subscribed yet just push that button subscribe now thanks again for all your support and we'll see you later on in the week
