Make your heat transfer vinyl t shirt look screen printed

what's going on people it's carmen of customize me htv vinyl and in today's video i'll be showing you how to make your htv shirt look as if it was screen printed so if you're new to making t-shirts or just looking to take your custom t-shirts to the next level then keep watching because this video is just for you [Music] before i get started i just want to point out a couple of tools using this video i have my weeding tool this is used to weed out the htv vinyl i have parchment paper which is used to protect the heat press and the t-shirt have the alignment tool this is used to align the image on the t-shirt and also i have a silhouette cutting machine right here you see me choosing which color vinyl i want to use this bright green shirt i have three colors to choose from from gray yellow rainbow and black something about that halo rainbow that made the shirt pop plus the spectrum coats would give the shirt a outer space effect [Music] [Music] well i went with the halo rainbow now that i have my vinyl and t-shirt picked out i want to move on to the image the application i'm using the silhouette studio designer edition also i have left a link in the description below to download the same svg file one of the things i want you guys to notice the matte size that i'm cutting on is a 12 by 12 inch matte size also my image size is set to almost 10 inches this is going on a large shirt so i don't want it too big but i don't want it too small so normally on a large shirt 10 inches is a pretty good size a few things to note to make sure that your image will cut out right it's good to always spot check by zooming into your image and making sure that your cut lines are set up properly you don't want to mess up any vinyl guys vinyl vinyl can get expensive if you have to use too much of it by making careless mistakes the settings i'm using are custom settings specific to the vinyl i'm using this liner i'm using is customize me vinyl you can find a link in the description below if you want to use this vinyl now that i'm done cutting out my design i want to show you my weeding process this was a very detailed design which took me about 20 minutes to weed and i just want to mention you want your shirts to seem screen printed and have a high quality effect and feel it's all about the vinyl you use the vinyl i'm using is from my own inventory you're interested in trying this out i left a link below but to get that high quality effect using good vinyl will make or break you and how we know the difference high quality vinyl is thinner once pressed onto a t-shirt you get a soft touch and feel and the vinyl seems to be embedded into the fabrics low quality it can feel thick and stiff if it wrinkles or has a paper look and feel then it's low quality also once it's pressed onto a t-shirt it can feel like you wearing a chest plate [Music] okay i have weeded out all the planets now you see me removing the large portions of the vinyl cutting invite out in smaller sections keeps me from peeling up the entire design this makes the weeding process faster and it reduces mistakes to me this is the best technique working with designs that are very detailed [Music] here i'm using painters tape to remove fine pieces of vinyl i like to use this trick when working with very detailed designs man i really didn't realize how detailed this design was until i really got started with the clothing believe it or not weeding the planets was the easy part to make sure you make to the end of this video i had to speed it up a little bit also if you follow me on instagram or facebook you'll see some examples of how our htv vinyl is being used especially when making detailed designs just like the one done in this video today a few things i make sure of before pressing a shirt always pre-press the shirt removing any moistures or wrinkles i did not show this in the video but a heat press is set to 320 degrees and at a medium pressure this binder doesn't require a lot of pressure so i'm able to close and open my heat press machine just with one hand here i'm using my alignment tool to line up the image and place it just right on the shirt i can't tell you how many times i've lost count of pressing shirts cricket this alignment too has been a lifesaver [Music] if you're one of those people that always press your shirts qriket comment below one of those people who like to double check because i like to get my designs perfect so here you see me again double checking and triple checking to make sure i have the image lined up just right as you can see my ruler keeps me honest it measures from the neck down the three to four inches that's needed and also it helps me line left or right so i have my image perfectly thinner i pressed the shirt for about 10 to 15 seconds unlike other vinyl you don't have to press for 30 seconds this vinyl is a warm peel so you have to let it cool for about a minute before removing the carrier sheet some people like to fan their shirt which is okay or kind of lift it up to cool out faster you see me doing it here i'm impatient [Music] look how easy that is to peel you shouldn't have to fight with your carrier sheet i peel that with just one hand that's some high quality vinyl [Music] i'm just gonna hit it one more time just to make sure that vinyl adheres to the shirt this is the curing process pressing it again for another 10 to 15 seconds [Music] there you have it the halo rainbow vinyl took this shirt to another level shirt looks like it's been screen printed look at how
