hi I'm a man driven spiraling King calm welcome to my craft room in today's video we're going to be making this gift bag well actually not just this gift bag it's good to be making three different sizes of gift bag and this is a video one of two and there is going to be another video showing you another three sizes maybe than four I'll kind of explain that in a minute now I'm calling this that any size gift bag and if I explain I started out making a bag using six by six inch pieces of paper I had quite a few of them and I wanted to make something using that specific size and then I decided that I could probably make it bigger or make it smaller so I did so I'll show you all the sizes right now so this size uses two pieces of twelve by twelve this size uses two pieces of ten by ten these are inch sizes this size uses eight by eight this size are kind of where it all started is six by six this side is 4 by 4 this is 3 by 3 that's so cute and this size is madness ok so this is 2 inch square and it's really tricky to do I will show you how to do it but I'm not entirely sure what you would put in it it's not very big at all but because I could edit so today I just put these back oh we are going to be working on these three so the 8 inch is an inch and the 12 and then video to will do these ok so let me put those to one side so all you're gonna need a scoring board simply scored obviously it's the best one there is and a bone folder you're going to need a punch to make the hole of the ribbon you're gonna need ribbon and designer series paper now what I'm actually done is I've done templates for all of these and I've got some peed yet so there'll be a PDF going with each video that you can just go over to my blog and just just download it and then you've got the measurements so don't worry too much if you can't get the measurements as we go but honestly they're so easy it's it's yeah it's really really straightforward um so I'll start with the biggest and we'll go from there so this is 12 by 12 now one thing that's really important for you to think about is which side is going to be the out of it as a box and which is going to be the other side I'm going to make a nice Christmas one so this is going to have the trees on the outside and then the folded over piece is going to be this red side and then I've got some coordinate anchor so everything inside that world as you know coordinate garden green ribbon and that actually coordinator the green Nets there so put it in and when you're using this scoreboard make sure that the paper is always tucked up right hard against the top edge and the side make sure it's square in and we're gonna score at three inches on three sides so the left hand side the bottom just turn it a quarter turn each time the right-hand side and then you're gonna score one and a half inches on the top so we're gonna do exactly the same with the second one three inches three inches three inches now usually your bone folder and if you've not come across something folders before or before they are actually made of cattle bone so there are a lot of plastic ones on the market and they're really not as good as the cattle bones but that said obviously if you're a vegetarian or a vegan you probably want to use that so that's important information for you to know as well so I think if I turn it this way be able to see better on this side so we've got two squares here and we're going to cut the two pieces of paper with the scissors on here hold on one second we're going to cut them differently so this one we are going to cut squares off completely now we're crafters right so we're not actually going to throw those pieces away you could make a tag to decorate it make its matching card all sorts of things and then on this one we are going to cut two flaps so this is actually the back so that's gonna feel like that these are the size pieces and then these are the side flaps so let's turn everything around so this piece is going to lay them and stick over the top of the matching centerpiece on the other on the other piece of the bag so Tambo okay then I'm just going to put a little little wiggle of tombow along here I haven't done this on all of the bags but certainly with the bigger bags it just helps keep it tidy and keep it straight flat okay so now all we're going to do is fold the bag up so quick so what we're going to do is these square flaps we're going to put glue on there and then put that piece on and then let's stick that piece on so we'll do the two flaps first [Applause] do this this way and hopefully easier for you so what you're actually wanting to do is just make sure that that face is actually squared make sure we're in and then we're going to put glue on these flaps here so all the way along and a good squiggle on each side you can use double sided tape if you want to but Tombo multi-purpose glue is always my glue of choice I prefer it so and what you're going to do is just make sure that the top this piece here is actually lined up both sides because that's a piece that everyone is going to be looking at and there is your bag pretty much completed the bigger the bag the more ribbon I tend to put on it so that much so that's about 16 inches and you're gonna need to be able to tie knot in it so it's better to go longer with the ribbon then shorter I I'm going to then punch two holes on one side two holes on the event if it's important to you please do measure them mister where the holes go I don't tend to do it by eye and mostly it's okay sometimes sometimes it goes a bit wrong but generally it's okay so I've just threaded the ribbon through and I'm going to tie a knot and then just snip off the end and then that not just means a bib say it just holds it secures it on that side and then I'm just going to do the same on this one and that's kind of why you need a little bit extra so that's there and then besides doing exactly the same and I'm not doing any kind of fancy nut I'm just doing an overhand knot as well snip those two pieces okay so there you go so there is your first bag so that's brilliant and you know I love the fact that stamping up all the papers are double-sided and it means that you actually get to see both sides of the pattern which i think is really cool um I've made this bag just square but if you want to give it a bit more shape if you put your fingers here like that you can just sort of squash it in and it will give you sort of more of a gusseted effect like like that so that will give you that more sort of shape um on my template I have put in a size for the base card so you can put cardstock in the base and I'll show you on the next one where I would put that okay so that's your twelve my twelve so a lot to talk about so actually I made that one out the new ones there okay let's do the next size and the next size is 10 inches so this is 10 inch squares and this has got a stripe on it so I'm just making sure which way am I doing this yeah I'm just making sure that I know which side is the top so this one is scored at two and a half two and a half two and a half and one an important so the second piece is exactly the same so two and a half two and a half two and a half okay so boom fold again the camera doesn't go a bit crazy sometimes with checks and with stripes doesn't like it hopefully with have the checks on the outside and the strike so down okay so again what we're going to do is we're going to cut squares off and then here we're going to cut again don't see the other side for good cut along this side here so it's actually the horizontal line it doesn't work properly if you cut it the other way okay so if you want to reinforce the base of your bag now this is actually quite sturdy because it's it's two layers of paper but if you're gonna put something really heavy like a jar or something like that in it or a mountain of chocolate which would be my preference but I'm gonna put a lot of stuff in then putting your piece of cardstock inside is a really good plan so on the PDF and on my template if you look here it says base card and the base card for this size is two and a quarter by four and three-quarters and that you will actually stick here so that's where you would put it and it's a quarter of an inch smaller all the way around to make sure it will fit inside but I'm not good to do that with these bags to leave them as they are so let's put this one and then we're going to fold these pieces in so they come together so quickly and it's it's just great to have different types what if it's re not different types of still the same bag but but different sizes because you know I love to have a bag that will match a card or card that matter bag when I'm giving a gift to somebody I just think it looks really nice and they know that you have made that and they really like that so it's a good thing to do so don't throw these away okay so bag number two you done I'm not going to do the ribbon again because you guys know how to do that now but I do want to show you this ribbon that this is purses and it is glimmering ribbon and I'm actually gonna use that again I think in a minute no actually wrong one I was going to use the black ribbon on this one this is super cool it's glimmery same as everyone back sparkly so anyway so so that will go like so and on my blog post I will make sure I finished all and I will show you all of them but I just don't want to make this video too long for you so the last one this is 8 by 8 and this paper this is part of the Daisy safety paper love this way so this time we are scoring at two inches on three sides and a 1 inch final side so right just needs to check look this has got stripes running so I want to make sure that the stripes are gonna be doing the same thing so I do that with the 1 inch so let's try to turn the same way okay so take the top two infector you score something wrong you should bone folder and go over it in invariably it can be like it never happened okay so this again to make sure that my stripes going the right way yes and they're going the right way now so let's start again so this is 2 into 1 inch yay awesome right so it's all the right way and honestly you will never know that I scored that other bit wrong it's a joy a heavily patterned paper as well now I'm using patterned paper you can use stamped cardstock that would work really well it would make the bag even more sturdy which is super cool um but you will really have to work hard on all of these crease lines and all these score lines so don't don't be afraid to use your bone folder and make sure that you are really reinforcing their score lines it's the one thing when you're making bag some boxes that it's really really important to do so let's fold that piece over like that then on this one again so we're cutting off two squares on this one we're cutting along the horizontal line the top of the square not cutting it off and then we're going to stick this piece then we're just gonna hold seize it and glue this but I'm going to do exactly the same with this one I'm just going to finish off the bag I'm not going to put the ribbon on because then I can get it all get the video finished for you so you can go off and make stuff put plenty of glue on and if you leave it not quite to the edge it won't lose that out them so that's always a good plan make sure your tops lineup okay so that is your 8 inch square piece of pieces of paper now I haven't actually said and this is really important for you to know is how bigger these okay so this one is 4 inches by 5 inches tall and it is 2 inches wide this one is 5 inches wide by 6 and a quarter inches tall and it's pune 4 inches high and then this one is 6 inches by 7 and a half and it's 3 inches wide really big size so that's the three sizes and so yeah this is the glimmery look at this color this is the glimmering pear pizzaz ribbons that goes with that one so that's going to work really well so that's the three sizes so you need to come back next week for the video for the next three sizes and the teeny weeny weeny one which I will I will film for you all of the information if you're on youtube and you click see more underneath the video it will actually detail out there all of the measurements but also a link back to my blog and PDF so you can actually just print it out because then that's so much easier for when you're crafting so I hope you've enjoyed today's video there are links to all
