here we go to harvest our Alewife, the thing about
Alewife is that it's a closing season and we could go
10 feet down the road to where there's alewife but the
towns own the alewife fish themselves because of
being grandfathered in so that the towns can sell
them to the lobstermen so the whole St. George fishing area, this like, I don't know what it is, this like 50 miles of
rivers and some odd little tributaries that the alewives swim up into and if you see my catch and
cook with your bare hands video from last year, that was illegal because that was coming from
the St. George River Area where you're not allowed
to be harvesting them. So we're heading to a non-regulated river to be able to harvest our 50
alewives with the dip net. Alright, here we are. Time to get our fish on. - Wouldn't that be funny
if we didn't have-- Sorry.
- [Zachary] What? - Would that be funny if

- Uchhhh. We can't actually technically do legally, you're not allowed to hand fish, which is ridiculous. If you can catch it with a net, but you're not allowed to
grab it with your hand. Here you go. (water rushing) - It wasn't the best
spot but I can try here. It's not the best place.
- [Zachary] I see some. - [Chris] Just go down,
right there, right there. Dude now, now. - Oh I had it, I felt him hitting the net. - [Chris] Yeah, they can

the next thing on our list. Get our lobster traps in the
water with some alewives. The reason we love alewives
for this and lobstermen love it is because they
are one of the best bait as far as for catching
lobster supposedly even better than mackerel, 'cause the
sliminess or something. I think that's what they say.
- Yeah. - It's a sliminess. - Phew, it stinks. - Is it stinky, yeah. The lobsters love it, let's do it. Not too bad for 30 minutes worth of work. We're gonna try and trade
up for lobster and crabs in the lobster traps. And maybe while we're
waiting for those things to do their catchin', we'll go down and do some clammin'. Alright so those of you
wonderin' what's goin' on and you're like oh, you're
livin' out of a house, this is just the start of the challenge. We're packin' up everything
right now to head out. We'll be staying out at my
shelter for the seven days. We'll be out there, that
will be our base camp at my shelter in the woods
so we can build stuff, cook everything on the fire. It's not a survival challenge,
it's a wilderness living challenge we're living off wild foods, but we'll be doing some bush
crafty stuff along the way as well as harvesting food
the only way we're able to. I mean I'd love to build primitive traps and go and set them out
there or make my own, widdle my own buoys and
things but it's not legal, traps have to have holes of
certain sizes and dimensions and compartments and
tags and we got all that, so we're gonna utilize that
and live off this wild food. Let's pack it up and get out
there and set these traps. Alright, next stop
Northport, Maine to check on the boat and see if it's done yet. We are borrowing my old
boss' boat that I had rebuilt for him years ago and they
have been doing some spring maintenance to it so it's looking
pretty for us to play with Here it is, where I used to work. For about five years. Buildin' boats with this guy. Beautiful boats, we
built some awesome ones I'll show you in a sec out there. Beautiful stuff
- [Man] Wow you won't lose that in the parking lot. - [Zachary] This is a
dark harbor, 17 and a half that I built like five years
ago with Northeast Boat. It's pretty fancy. It was the first one
built in over 100 years. And back there is double
haven 12 and a half. All in good, beautiful condition. With all their stuff taken
apart for the winter time, stored, nice here at Northeast Boat. All of which I did a little
bit of work to every, probably almost every
single one of these ones. Shadow, did some planking
and the eyebrows and woodwork on it these all had one or
two planks done by me on them. I think we did stuff to the
little double ended pea pod over here might've rebuilt
the floor boards for this one. So, had my hands in the
repairs and work on all these boats that were here for almost six years. And now, it's all about
adventures and YouTube! Different life entirely. Here we are at Hamilton Marine. It's been years but I've made
many atrip up to this store when I was short three screws. This time, first time, getting
my own lobstering supplies. We need six, one to display
onto the boat to show that that's our colors at all times. Oh yeah, orange sticks? Let's do it. Orange it up! Hey, we can have like a-- - [Chris] Sword fight? - [Zachary] And I even
got orange bait bags. We're so orange. Alright, and I'll have-- - [Chris] The line. - The line for us and
then that's it, right? - [Chris] Yeah, I agree. - I probably don't need a hook, we can just widdle one. And also, almost forgot about those. One horn and one throw able device. Alright, jeepers. Now we can go back, see
if the boat is finished, paint up our buoys and set
the traps, awful lot to do. I did not realize how long
some of this would take and that was about 200 and-- what was it, 260, 270? It's not cheap. And I'm borrowing the traps
from a lobsterman friend. And I decided to keep the
traps so with buying the traps, the recreational license
and all the other gear that went into it, I ended
up spending about 700 bucks. But, you catch 'em! Oh it's gonna be so worth it. (guitar strumming) Alright. (guitar strumming) Is it? Uh-oh. Right into the-- I don't see any spots though
so I might've got lucky. It's like such a light
dust, I don't need that. (guitar strumming) She's secure? (laughs) (guitar strumming) Gettin' late, lots to do still. Gonna be a hard day. (guitar strumming) Straight in, here we are, Rockport Harbor. Are we gonna be able to
make this happen today? Will we continue? Or will be surrender to
the running out of time? (guitar strumming) Doesn't look too bad out
there but the further out you get the choppier it is, the worse it can be. Pretty darn low tide. It is way out, should
still be able to launch but it's pretty much
the lowest of low tides. That's why we wanted to get here earlier. (deep exhale) Wasn't as prepared as I would
have liked to have been. I thought when they said the other day, oh yeah you can borrow traps
and they're all set up, that meant traps came with lines and you know the lines would
be so long and we'd just go to that depth and we'd drop
'em in and use 'em at that depth only and I'd have to
repaint the buoys or something but that wasn't part of it. (light guitar strumming) Now we gotta decide do we push on? Or bag it in this method
of fishing for today and come back at it tomorrow morning? At the right tide? Set 'em out then. Maybe see if we can't catch
some trout or bass tonight. What do you think? - I don't know, it's
gettin' on in the day, that's what I think. - [Zachary] Yeah. - I mean, you know it's
gonna be another 10 feet like you can tell the
waterline is gonna be about 10. - Yeah
- They said add 10 feet, right 10 feet of rope.
- Yeah, I mean. I don't see any reason
why we don't put them out. - Yeah, I say we try it. We go for it. - Add 10 feet of rope. - Yep, wherever we find,
we add 10 feet of rope and then we're able to set 'em. Doesn't look too crazy out there, we should be able to do it. - We can still do that, we're
pushing everything back so we just have to, make that
decision whether we want this to be our first day
and kind of be behind. We're not gonna eat the bait.
- I think this should still be our first day either way,
that's part of the challenges-- the wilderness living challenge, whether we set these, you
know, if we have to go and eat the bait tonight and go and, we could put this in, you know put the traps in tomorrow, and we can go see if we can't
catch a couple of good size fish that weren't the bait
fish that are easier to eat. - Yeah
- And have fish head soup and some nice fish over the fire. - Yeah, we're still okay. We just spent probably
five hours gettin' a boat. - Yeah
- And traps. So I mean in perspective right? We could have been spending five hours-- - Even if I had not made
the mistake about the buoys, the boat itself was not ready until right when we left.
- No, it's not. It's not anybody's fault. It's just logistics.
- It's just one of those life complications, you know?
- Yeah, right. 'Cause you need certain
things that you don't have. - Like motors bolted on. ♪ Yeah, that's life ♪ - Yeah, there's a whole
variety of things that-- - You know what let's do? This will decide it,

somewhere 'cause the boat and ah, there wasn't enough
room with all the, uch-- hopefully that smells goes away. That took us like two and a half hours, for amateurs, I'd say that's pretty good. Now we gotta go find some
actual food or we're stuck eating bait tonight. Alright we're here at
the Camden, snow bowl, only ski resort on the east
coast where you can ski and look over the hill there at the ocean. So, we're gonna go over
to this little park and little lake puddle down here, this is where when we
