MacBook Pro 13 A1708 2017 (flexgate repair) no backlight at 90 degree angle

hello everyone today we have a macbook pro 13-inch 2017 model with a very common issue it's also a factory defect the issue is there is no backlight when you open the lid at 90 degrees as you can see when i open the lid there is backlight but when i open it more than 90 degrees there is no backlight so this factory defect is caused by overusing the lid or simply opening and closing the lid way too much [Music] still it's not a reason for the flex cable to be damaged all the older models didn't have this kind of issue because instead of a flex cable there was a regular cable which was more durable in the newer models there is two backlight flex cables that connects to the main lcd board and then connects to the main logic board [Music] [Music] so let's see which flex cable that is damaged and replace it [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] as you can see the second one is the damaged one there is a crack or a break in the rails in the flex cable which prevents the data and the power to flow to the backlight [Music] so we are gonna take out the lcd so we can work freely and comfortably [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] to fix the issue we are going to cut half of the old flex cable and clean the black cover so we can reveal the rails [Music] [Applause] [Music] and here we have the new flex cable which we are gonna cut also a half of it and replace it with the old one by soldering the rails [Music] use super glue to glue the flex cables and start removing the black mask to reveal the rails [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Applause] simply soldering jumper wires from one side to the other and take in consideration the wider rails they are power rails and you need to solder thicker jumper wires to not overheat the flex cable [Music] anyone who knows electronics very well knows why you should solder or replace the choirs with the same thickness [Music] so [Music] mask the jumper wires with uv mask and let it dry [Music] [Music] so [Music] cover the worked place with a tape to prevent it from damaging [Music] [Music] assemble the lcd and test the work [Music] and as you can see the backlight is fully working and even when you open the lead more than 90 degrees so that will be it for this video i hope you enjoyed it and if you did hit the like button and subscribe to the channel for more interesting videos and if you have any other questions just leave them in the comment section down below and i will try to answer them see you next time [Music] [Music] you
