welcome back today i'm going to show you how to install a three-way switch this is the uh cassette wireless pd5 ans three-way switch that i'm putting in and instead of boring you guys with trying to undo all the screws i always basically took out the wall plate took out the old switch already and then i also turned off the power remember always have a something to check make sure there's no power um this is a voltage uh tester to make sure there's no power power in here and there is then that's already dead so i'm just going to explain to you how to hook it up on both ends that's why there's going to be two parts to this um so this is the first thing is i already separated it out this top bar right here is the one that's going to my light these two are the traveler wires meaning these two wires are going to the other side of the three-way switch and that's what i mean by travelers travel travel the wires okay so these two are going to my other three-way switch this one is going to my light and this is how you would hook it up on this side you would take your uh switch right here first of all what you want to do is i don't need the cover for this side so i'm going to pop out the cover first um and they just snap off that snaps off and then we have the screws cover down then for this one just need to take this off the screws we don't need this anymore because oh this cover won't work for this area since i have it's a dual dual switch dual gang box so i'm gonna take this off real quick should i take this off come on there we go oh don't want to lose that screw all right just taking this off okay now that i got that off um i'm just going to show it show you guys exactly which wire goes to which wire all right lutron does give you a packet of uh wire nuts so we're gonna open that and get what we need out some wire nuts out so we could uh tie everything together so first wire nut all right what what the instructions is is you have a bunch of wires back here you have a red black blue white and green all right the one of the things that i always like to connect first is i always like to connect my ground wire it's just something that i made a habit to do so i'm going to connect i'm going to get this ground wire in and um just kind of put it in there then using one of these get my ground wire in get nice get nice and tight so this ground wire is already connected to the rest of my system but i like to get my ground wire in first and therefore that's something i just like to do next i always like the next one i always like to do is i like to get my neutral wire in which is a white wire a bunch of neutrals coming in here it's sharing the neutral so i'm going to take this one off all right lots of new lots of wires coming in there's a lot going in this box i'm not going to try to explain exactly what's happening in this box but um got some got some good grease in there so it's just to make make it a twist better inside there add one more neutral wire in here lots of neutral wires in here all right let's get that in there we go all right come on they off it there we go got all those neutrals in right there there we go all right all those neutrals should be in there all right and then oh that was the sound of my uh voltage tester dying or turning off by itself next we have three other wires right here okay the first thing we need we need to do is we need to connect the uh the red wire to the um to the light so for my wire the one that's actually connected to the light is this wire so we're going to take this red wire and connect it to our light that i need to turn on let me get another wire that first out of the bag this red wire will go to the wire that's going to our light which is this one there you go and then these are our two traveler wires um you need to make sure you know which one is going to which one back at the back of the area um i will i like to just i'm just going to connect the blue to the red we're going to use a blue wire for for one of them and we're going to keep the black and the black together okay so this black and black needs to go together right here which are our traveler wires and then the blue we're going to connect to the red all right so this is the wiring for this end remember travel wires are the wires going between the three-way switches and that's what i'm saying right there but this is it's the blue and the black that needs to go back to the other side all right well this is wiring for this side if you want me to go back through again one more time put the green first right here white the neutral the red is to the load basically to the light is right there and then the black to the black and the red to the blue so it can get to the other uh hard switch so all right look for the next video i'll do the other switch but anyways i don't need to bore you with how i screw that back in i think most people know
