so there's one question I get asked by viewers very regularly and that is how do I have my GX IT setup [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] the Lumix G X 80 it was my first camera with interchangeable lenses and are used it to its maximum capabilities for about two years now the GX 80 isn't my main camera anymore the Sony a7 three has taken that place but I still use it regularly as a second camera in my video about frame rates I had a lot of b-roll that was shot with the GX 80 basically all the shots in which you could see the a7 3 the video was obviously shot with the G X 80 I have to admit the GX 80 definitely has its limitations but if you know how to use it you're still able to get amazing shots with this camera with that said let's get into the GX 80s menu system and check out the setup so here we are in this video I'll be covering following points starting off with the image file and continuing with picture profiles focus settings and the video recording settings the image file is of course raw if you plan to edit your photos in an image editing program such as adobe lightroom i highly recommend shooting in RAW because that format captures as much data as possible to give you the maximum flexibility when editing if that is not the case and you just want to snap images and use them as they are straight out of the camera shoot JPEG and if you shoot JPEG choose the highest quality settings for the best results now when it comes to picture profiles we need to differentiate between video and photo for photography if you shoot in RAW choose whatever you want because when shooting in RAW the picture profile will be deleted as soon as you import the image into an editing program to neutralize the photo when shooting in JPEG just choose whatever look you prefer I always shoot in RAW and just choose the standard picture profile however when it comes to video the picture profile becomes very relevant videos are like JPEGs the picture profile you apply stays and it's not reversible for video I encourage you to shoot in a flat picture profile to capture as many details and dynamic range as possible unfortunately the GX 80 doesn't provide a flat picture profile like the gh 5s v-log therefore I shoot in the standard picture profile but I set the contrast sharpness and noise reduction to the lowest setting this will give you the flat as possible look with the least over sharpening but I warn you even with these settings the picture is not going to be very flat and you might have to recover some details in production next let's move on to the focus settings for photography I mainly shoot with AFS which is single autofocus that means you have pressed the shutter and the camera will set focus and lock it as long as you keep your finger on the shutter when necessary I'll use manual focus for video however I mainly use manual focus with Panasonic's auto manual focus function I don't know if that is what they call it but that's how I call it anyway it's a really cool feature which combines auto and manual focus to use it you need to be in manual focus and then when shooting you drag this yellow box on to the object that you want in focus and the camera will auto focus on to that object what I really like about this function is that because you are in manual focus the focus is now locked and will not hunt for anything else the GX 80 does allow you to use continuous autofocus depending on the lens but I actually never use it because I don't quite trust it last but certainly not least let's move on to the video recording settings the GX 80 provides various settings in 1080p and 4k in 1920 by 1080 you can shoot in 25 and 50 frames per second in 4k the camera lets you shoot in 25 frames per second and that is what I mostly choose even when my final video is going to be a 1920 by 1080 video I shoot in 4k and downscale the footage because that looks noticeably better the image is sharper and the noise is less visible I only relinquish 4k recording if I want to either save storage for some reason or shoot slow-motion video in 50 fps and that sums up all the important settings I use on my GX 80 I have this breakdown was useful to any of you and you can find some value in this video if so leave a like and if you want to see more content like this feel free to subscribe and I hope to see you again next week [Music]
