I Donald Trump is preparing to welcome a newcomer to the election campaign Trail vetting influential Republicans to become his pick for vice president well yeah but I think I'll announce who that person's going to be during the convention I think that's pretty normal normal is not a word some experts would use for this VP search who describe it as more of a fty contest when Trump says jump he or she says how high that's it that's all there is loyalty Trump pressured his last VP to stop the peaceful transfer of power to Joe Biden after losing the election Mike Pence is going to have to come through for us Trump and his supporters became enraged when Mike Pence [Music] refused VP Front Runners this time appear to have taken note I wouldn't put a nickel on them to stop uh Trump from stopping the uh peaceful transfer of power I wouldn't put a nickel on them because they're going to do what he says Front Runners including Senator JD Vance have shown loyalty by attending a trump court date and retracting past negative comments my my view on Donald Trump I've been very clear on this is look I was wrong about him I didn't think he was going to be a good president data and I was very very proud to be proven wrong while Republican senator Tim Scott would not commit to accepting election results still 5 months away at the end of the day the 47th president the United States will be president Donald Trump yes or no will you accept the election results of 2024 no matter who wins that is my statement but Trump's supporters argue loyalty in politics is necessary and what you don't want is to have a Maverick out there contradicting you and raising questions this former Republican governor of Virginia says fears about Trump and his VP pick are overblown it's just politics that's just an effort to scare the American people into voting Democrat the Republican convention will be held in the middle of July Donald Trump has until then to make up his mind Katie Simpson CBC News Washington
