only 30 000 miles as a 2013 that means it's perfect it's Flawless and it'll dry for another hundred thousand miles flawlessly right wrong let's get started [Music] there have been lots of ads I've seen them bring a trailer a 1992 Ferrari with only thirty thousand miles or even only 5 000 miles on it and you think well then it's like Factory new and I can just jump in and drive it for the next five years and I'll have zero problems the opposite is true you will probably have nothing but problems and I always think it's strange that people double down and pay double what a car is worth because of such low mileage but the truth of the matter is is every seal every hose everything is going to let loose once you start driving it daily maybe some people aren't going to drive it they're just going to get it home and park it under a tarp or car cover or whatever I don't know same thing here this is a 2013 Maserati Gran Turismo it's from a local dealer it's very low miles they want to get a few things fixed on it before they put it on the lot which makes sense because you definitely don't want to sell it that way you want to ask top dollar so we'll take a look around it today there's a big oil leak and we'll find out after we look underneath of it what the oil leak is let's take a look at this thing it's a little dusty and dirty it was drove up here I think it rained a little bit or something but these things are beautiful looks like a catfish Mrs wizard a very beautiful catfish you're right it is very beautiful I love the Gran turismos they are very very sweet cars I love this metallic blue color as well it definitely does discard Justice as we come around to the side you can see some little things like in the headlight right here the headlight assembly actually says Maserati some nice styling there and speaking of nice styling even the wheels have the Maserati Trident kind of in the Little Forks I guess you want to call the spokes I should say of the wheels really really cool looking Wheels some might find them odd but I really like them on the quarter panel we see our iconic Maserati venti ports Mrs Wizards Levante has those Gran turismos have them quattroportes have them it's just a very very Maserati thing to have yep and you can see it's designed by pin and Farina Down Below on the little badge this has a very long Sleek body and you can see it as a convertible which would be very very fun in sunny weather which is what we're getting into here in Kansas it's starting to warm up and be nice weather here is the back has nice tail lights with the large Maserati emblem so that you do not mistake it for a Kia actually it's kind of difficult to mistake it for a Kia it doesn't look like one but these things sound amazing we are not going to be able to start it up on this video because we have some stuff apart but they sound very amazing let's go ahead and hop into the interior there you go Legends you can see at 30 223 miles and interior wise it's going to present very well because it doesn't have much Road time on it as we look at the dash it's in really good shape and it's like a navy blue leather wrapped with some wood trim as well and then we go to a lovely camel color leather as well if we look over there we can see it says Gran Turismo to move over we'll see the classic analog clock that is Hallmark two miles ready with the Maserati symbol in it you'll see Maserati puts her symbol in about everything if you were to play a drinking game not that I'm telling you to but you could probably possibly become quite inebriated by all the Maserati either the word or the Trident but we have a lovely infotainment system one thing that is interesting is that it does have the numbers actually as physical buttons not what you would type on the screen 2013 don't have that touch screen integrated yet we move down you'll see some simple HVAC controls down there as well we do have our gear selector and I said Maserati symbol there's a lovely metal emblem into the wood top part of that knob is leather wrapped all the way down as we move to our door card you'll see that it is leather wrapped as well with some lovely Chrome and wood accents as well as we look at our seat which again is that Camel color oh look another Trident after stitched in as well to match the Navy that is on the columns and the top part of our Dash as we move down got perforated leather and this is have a nice bolster on the side that keeps you in there nice and tight when you're going around the corners as we look at the back seat I've pushed the front seat forward so we can see nicely in there and if you're in the back seat you are going to enjoy a serious amount of sound we've got two speakers on the side two speakers in the center and the same on the other side so you are seriously jamming back here it is two bucket seats so it is a four seater so as a convertible you at least can have three of your other friends in the car with you rather than just two but we do have a nice spot here in this Center where you can put a nice soda bottle of water whatnot and well the seats are back quite a way so there is not much leg room at the moment but if the passenger were to scoot forward as touch you would have some decent space to sit headliner as I check a headliner in a convertible I like to turn off our light look for any bright spots I don't see anything turn our light back on it's actually a two layered convertible top what we see on the inside is not what we have on the outside this is an Alcantara and it looks really nice but there's no rips no tears no light coming through so it's in really good shape oh look another Trident we've actually counted in my Levante and I think we've got to like 20. they're just absolutely everywhere we can't see them on the camera so well but there's on the glass there every little spot so they're very proud to put their logo where people can find them again simple controls here with leather and nice wood as well so this is presenting very well I'm curious what are we going to find underneath let's get this in the air [Music] let's go ahead and check underneath this really Sleek car the underneath this Sleek just as well as the top is all this plastic panels and everything is for aerodynamics go ahead and take a look over here you can see that's the front of the engine which is interesting on these Maseratis is the front of the engine sits about Center with the center of the wheels it's not like an American car where it sits Way Forward of the wheels an older American Car these are for weight distribution I can look through the back side here and see our radiator and our fans everything's nice and dry we'll go to this wheel over here brakes are good little ride height sensor is good sway bar link is good and our very expensive sky hook strut is not leaking it's good brakes are good here sway bar link is good strut is good nothing loose everything's looking really nice there to come back to the engine here we can see scariko Olio engine oil it's a drain there everything's nice and dry up to the bell housing and it's just from their back is soaked in oil you can see it's just blown all the way back here and we'll lower the car in a minute and show you where that came from but you can see it's dripping from up above it's all down the cylinder head and on the exhaust manifolds and it's dribbling its way down to the bell housing all the sweatness here is coming from up above and then it the wind blows it all the way back our transmission is actually nice and dry this is actually just all engine oil you can see that it's just been dripping tons of oil out but it only has hatchimals this thing's per right wrong as a miles has been sitting for a long time and some of the seals up above have gotten dry and now it's being driven they're starting to leak luckily we're addressing those things so they can be sold and it'll be solved but keep that in mind when you find a car only ten thousand miles on it it's perfect probably not let's go ahead and keep on moving along here's a resonator more oil leak again come back to our drive shaft which is not a flex disc it actually has a little like a CV joint here's our differential big beefy aluminum one nothing leaking from it check our CV boots are nice and dry nothing leaking from the strut brakes are good sway bar link is good nothing loose there brakes are good sway bar link is good the strut is dry nothing loose there one thing that I see once in a while on cars but not on many cars is actually some subframe bracing that you see here where it ties the body to this actual rear axle kind of a subframe thing here a cradle if you want to call it it kind of ties everything together that way as we come back to the mufflers you can see there's a little valve there that's for the valved exhaust so when you put in sport mode it can be even louder it's a very common thing on exotic cars and some sports cars today they they like to do that let's go ahead and check the date codes on our tires keep in mind that this is a staggered setup which the backs are bigger and wider than the fronts they are not able to be rotated 30th week of 2021 so these are fairly new tires so these are Pirelli P Zeros let's go see if they match up front and here we have Pirelli p0s as well they are matching brands they are not matching sizes so if you have one of these cars and someone tries to ding you you're the seller and say I don't see that you've rotated the tires you can like hit them on the head with your and say these don't get rotated dummy you can't they're staggered oh so I've actually had that argument with people believe it or not I actually get a tape measure and say look at the width of the back now look at the front do you think you can rotate that around why did they do that just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it shouldn't be done so we know it has a pretty bad oil leak let's go ahead and get it on the ground and get into the engine bay [Music] the hood struts work as you can see Danielson actually has a lot of stuff apart already there's a big cowling that goes up here you will not be able to get the valve covers off and get to the bolts with the cowling in the way there's actually quite a lot of things in the way in order to get these valve covers off this is not a 30 minute job this isn't Grandpa's Chevy 350. it's quite a lot involved just to actually get down to them and get them off there's a little PCV valve here we've removed and put some paper there to keep anything from falling in but there's these pipes and things that Danielson actually has a bungee cord I'll go ahead and put it back for him like that it keeps it out of the way all the coils have to come off there's some more hoses PCB hoses and things there's a cam sensor in the back and even then it's tough to get off there's these variator solenoids you say oh just pull it right off nope this air conditioning line is in the way but this is where our oil leak is coming from it is the valve cover gaskets they're leaking really bad in the back and it's literally pouring down the block down to the bell housing and all the way down the bottom side of the car here we are on the passenger side there is a box here that is our control unit everything's unbolted moved out of the way because it as well was in the way of getting these valve covers off and again you can pull them straight up on the variator solenoid and it hits our oil dipstick tube danielson's going to finish taking the few things apart and they'll be able to come right up I'm not going to jump ahead and take over his jaw because then he'll forget where he was and jumping in behind a mechanic is a No-No in any shop you want them to remember every step of the way apart so they can go back together in the same step so I'm not going to mess with it I'm just showing you guys where he's at and how that comes off this one is not the 4.2 Maserati V8 this one's actually the 4.7 with quite a bit more power in the newer years you get the bigger engine in the front you can see quite a lot has come apart as well which is some of the duct work the air filter several other things that had hoses going to it that had to be moved out of the way so he can continue to work on this another issue that we found it was a small leak that was not anticipated is the coolant reservoir that sits right here you can see it was leaking onto this intake duct anytime you see white like that it's chalky it's antifreeze in today's cars I really like the front of these engines you can tell that they put some time and effort into them they have nice polished aluminum pulleys and things they're not just stamped steel out of recycled Honda Civics they actually put some time and effort into actually making it look really cool here we can see kind of like in a Corvette the engine is behind the steering rack the steering rack is Not underneath the oil pan it's actually forward of the engine which is really cool Danielson tells me this engine is very similar has a lot of similar parts and pieces and the Ferrari 430. which is really really cool it is a Ferrari based engine it is not a true full-blooded Ferrari engine a lot of people say it's a real Ferrari engine right out of a Ferrari no it's not it doesn't have a flat plane crank it has a cross plane crank just like most V8s in the world Ferraris have flat plane cranks there are lots of Parts on this engine that are shared with the 430 lots and lots of things it is really really cool that they did that so just to do the valve cover gaskets is quite a bit of Labor we do charge the Exotic rate on these because the risk involved all the parts and pieces on here are not 10 bucks and 20 bucks they're 500 and a grand and four grand if I'm going to take that risk on an exotic car which this is an exotic car I'm going to charge the Exotic price so you can see already we have a quite a bit of labor involved let's go ahead and move over to this cart is our handy dandy School audio video cart you guys remember those especially some of those that are in our late 30s 40s and 50s they would wheel this thing in with a TV on it and a vcr and we'd watch nature shows or social studies shows or geography or whatever else they had going on that's what these actually are we bought them on purple wave a long time ago we have tons of these carts I got them for like five bucks a piece I've actually got things in the mail selling industrial carts for your shop 300 a piece I'm like nah bro uh five dollars is more down my line and these things work so well here's our PCV valve we talked about that came off the valve cover it has a little filter that kind of catches the vapor and drops it as oil back into the engine there's our coils there's our wiper arms here's some plastic covers here's our air filter housing and some of the duct work that goes along with it I mentioned to you guys that it had a leaking coolant reservoir and here it is and this is common on these you can see the seam it's just pouring out so here I am peeing on the ground wizard maybe that could be plastic welded but if I have an exotic car I really don't want people opening the hood and seeing plastic Weld and backyard repairs that's not really what you do on these cars so we got a new one ordered it'll be installed that one will be thrown away down below we see some panels and things that were on the engine area it covered up a lot you really can't see much or get too much with these panels in the way there's quite a lot of nuts and bolts and screws here one last thing that Danielson has done and there was some wiring that goes to this strut like I said it's sky hook suspension which is kind of like magneride or something like that it electronically can change this damping rate of the shock and there was some wiring damage here we got that repaired and it took care of one of the codes it had actually a warning light on the dash so nothing major just getting caught up on a lot of real things because it's been sitting for a long time once we get these issues solved it will be a cherry car be ready for sale it'll be a really really sweet car for somebody to purchase but just keep in mind when you see that dream car of yours and say the miles are so low this is probably what you're going to get into unless it's been serviced and had those issues taken care of you can also take that into consideration when you go to purchase a vehicle if you can get a good price on it you can save a little bit of side to take care of these services and things but maybe it's very low miles and they've had these issues taken care of then it's definitely ready for sale but if it's like I just pulled it out of the garage 30 000 miles here it is very likely you're going to have some things that need to be taken care of just like this customer here this dealer's getting them taken care of these Maseratis whether it be the coupe Quattroporte Gran Turismo Ghibli they're not hard to work on they're actually very easy to work on there might be more time involved but they're not necessarily difficult but where they really get you is the parts prices Daniel suddenly mentioned to me there was only two vehicles that were at or above Ferrari pricing when he worked at the Ferrari dealership in Clearwater or Tampa area and that was Aston Martin's which were higher than a Ferrari and Maseratis they literally are at Ferrari pricing when you get parts it's not like well this is a lower model this is not a real Ferrari so the prices are cheaper on the parts no they're not they're the same we just had to replace the AC compressor on Mrs Wizard's Maserati it wasn't 100 bucks or 200 bucks it was a thousand bucks That's not including any labor or anything I've obviously we did the labor so why are the prices so high on these why are the parts prices so high I don't know I don't set those prices if you buy a Maserati and get it cheap and think I'll fix this thing up no you probably won't they're very very expensive to repair and this train of thought can also apply to Bentleys they're very very expensive to work on another thing to keep in mind if you're looking to buy one of these that needs work or one of those you're not going to take it down to your local corner mechanic and say hey can you fix this up bro they're going to be like nope that's not coming into my shop my insurance won't even cover that if something were to happen if it fell off a lift or something bad happened I don't have insurance coverage for that level of a car we do here at Omega we have the insurance coverage but I'm just saying I have heard the story of people that buy these and say man I've been to four different shops they told me don't even bring it here turn around and leave please you're gonna have to find a shop that works on these before you buy it if you're curious what kind of tools Danielson is using to work on this Maserati check my Amazon Affiliates Link in the description below we get a small cut and really appreciate it a lot of the tools we use in the shop are listed there for sale and make sure to hit the Subscribe button because we got a full week next week lots of cool cars coming in which means more videos for you guys thanks for watching [Music]
