This is a very good (but long) lecture with guidelines on how to respond to people with BPD. I learned a lot from it, and wanted to share it.

It explains emotional regulation and how they disregulate, how validation can help you reach them when they are disregulated - why it is so hard to do, steps on how to do it, when and for how long to do it. It gives tips on how to regulate your own emotions during their chaos so you don’t become part of the chaos.

The second half is the best. It identifies patterns of behavior of people on BPD - excellent, very specific ways to assess situation and step by step tactics to use in those! I found that all those behaviors I had seen, and I can see how her suggestions do help.

Thanks for sharing this. I started watching this the other night and fell asleep. For me the comment starting @ 17:00 struck a real nerve.

I have lived with the 'You shouldn't feel this way' BS for so many years I started to wonder how I SHOULD feel. This second guessing yourself is very damaging. I know this is geared towards what you say to your Borderline, but it was directed at me so much.
