[Applause] [Music] so I've got the parts made and it's time to start on the second side of the long travel rear suspension I've got the hub maybe go back here we don't have another axle yet but it's all the way so I'm just gonna use the same one parts of the same one to get this site built I've got two levels the zip tie for jack stands and some other stuff going on but I've got this as far as I can tell in exactly the same location and position as the other side and I've got it tacked onto here of course it'll be adjustable afterward with the links but I want to make sure I get it as close as possible now so that when it's adjusted it's not different [Music] [Music] well we've had the 450 sitting around for a while yep we knew she was gonna get toasted eventually we have some ideas for the engine it'll be awesome I'm gonna go ahead and steal the shock from it for the Odyssey and then and we'll figure out the rest later [Music] [Music] alright guys we're gonna take a quick break from this video to talk about bacon our sponsor for this video is butcher box butcher box is a monthly subscription service that sends you high-quality humanely raised meat every month straight to your door with butcher box you choose what kind of meat you want and then they send it straight to your door you don't have to go to the grocery store to pick it out it just shows up big box of delicious high-quality meat and it's cheaper than what it would cost to buy in the store so my box of meat came with most importantly bacon but they also sent me big package of chicken all humanely raised no antibiotics really high quality stuff a big ol pack of wild alaskan salmon and they sent me this ground beef this is a hundred percent grass-fed raised without antibiotics ground beef and if you sign up right now using our link in the description the first 150 people will get ground beef for life that's the best deal we've ever gotten for you guys so you get two pounds per box as long as your subscription lasts yeah guys this is this is an awesome deal and they also sent me some states but they looks too delicious and I heard he ate them and all of this meat comes shipped to your door and you might be wondering like I was how it all stays frozen and fresh but they bring it in a big cardboard box and it's all recyclable it has all the breeze all the insulation is recyclable the whole box is recyclable and every single piece of this was completely frozen still and Eilidh way back out in the middle of nowhere the free ground beef for life is the best deal of butcher box offers and it expires soon so click the link in the description and you'll also get $20 off your first door exciting times mail time we should make a mail time song like Blue's Clues so and you said new you meant like brand new I didn't see that coming I thought you meant like newer like everything we have is new to us so as it turns out they don't actually sell Bratz axles anymore nobody makes them which is dumb but they sell ones for slightly newer Subarus that have the same ends just a slightly longer center section so I ordered two of those and we'll see how much longer they are just a couple inches it looks like so we got two options either I can stance it way the hell out which isn't really an option because then the dish I mean it is an option we'll see it would take some adjusting of things but that's an option or I can just take these ends off of the axle and put the old axle into the middle but I think if I can I'd rather just stance it out a bit it's exciting next time we do this I'm gonna research before we build it and make sure that we can actually get new axles I just remember back when I drove the brat everything for it was cheap and readily available and then they stopped [Music] so it's time to weld this adapter thing together and I put it in the lathe basically just so I could make it perfectly straight they're pressed together a little bit but it's still you know it's not much distance so I wanted to make sure it's as perfectly straight as I can get it and then I'm gonna do it with TIG in hopes of being a little more delicate and not warping it too much so and I'll keep it in the lathe while i weld it which TIG is also good for because I don't get berries all over the ways and stuff and then that way I can weld a little bit turn it weld a little bit and then I can check it with the dial indicator try to keep it as straight as possible so I finished welding the axle adapter here the other night and you know having it in the lathe and being able to see which way it was warping like I would weld this side check the tolerance and then weld the other side and I think it's pretty darn close if you spin it here it's got approximately three thousandth of an inch of variation which is incredibly minimal like the the shaft has barely more than that or barely less than that to start with so I think that'll do [Music] well I don't know if there's any gas left in the carburetors but if there is the plan is to harness plan is to start it up real quick and spin this axle and see what it looks like when it's then kind of travel it a little bit and see make sure everything's gonna work that's the idea yeah all the moving parts look solid so far yeah you know the axle doesn't seem that you know that seems like it's a perfectly fine angle for it seem maxed out or anything [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right what's the plan got some serious brackets going on here I've got the bottom link tacked on there I might have to change it but that's probably where it's gonna go the difficult thing here is clearing the clutch because it's a ginormous clutch but I've got my piece of cardboard here somewhat CAD work it'll look something like that and then you know a little bit bracket on the other side too of course that gives it makes the top link a little bit shorter than the bottom link which is what you want for camber gains somebody was saying something like 80% the top one's supposed to 80% the link to the bottom one I'm gonna start with a little bit more than that and then see what what the camber looks like cuz I don't want too much camber gains I mean it's an off-road vehicle we don't need mad camber her just a little bit [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] he's go so well together it's just a whole lot of rowdy on a rowdy beast yeah now you can see like two inches finally got all of the brackets for these done that took an eternity and got these ones up here most of them are welded on at least halfway and now both axles are in so that's step in the right direction yeah wheels turn now I just got to finish gusseting this side like I did that one and then I'm just have to weld it all up when it's ready to be tested yeah today is another day on the Odyssey we got Sam up here again helping us put on the finishing touches and then we're gonna go for a test drive [Music] that's pretty close 15 pounds yeah not bad at all my best guess was 16 buy one free through the welding the place here I'm pretty sweet yeah [Music] well after half a roll of electrical tape we never learned and we're ready to rip yeah it's not going anywhere it was better than zip ties because zip ties just break electrical tape just stretches yeah it also dissolves with gasoline so that's good it's going down what was your first state analogies to him Oh taking all the new bills like a first date a little bit nervous trying to make everything look right they just gotta get out the door you're in a rush [Applause] [Laughter] yeah oh yeah [Music] [Applause] let's take a look nothing sleek in doesn't look like anything's grubbin yet smooth [Applause] yep [Music] that is officially amazing how much fun is that all of it that's all of the fun Wow it needs a lot more steering angle like it drifts really nice and there's like and that's all the angle when you spin around yes not much yeah so next up breed pull starter right here actually probably right in the middle last time the Odyssey was running I broke it before Edwin could drive it so yeah we're gonna give him a chance to rip so this is my first I don't have the pleasure but it wasn't a pleasure well no it was but it's more of a pleasure now yeah [Applause] [Music] [Applause] well no warm-up laps for Edwin huh [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] well that in the suspension so dead yeah yeah now yeah it's surprisingly good also this is what my face looks like after one donut all right so we're gonna give it the reverse test now that we've come down a little bit the first question is does it even will it go into will go from forward to reverse well it's running so fire it up [Applause] now you can give yourself dust baths now that we got the speed test it going we know everything's working nothing's bending nothing's binding I'm gonna do some flex tests oh yeah let's see that long travel action [Music] how did that feel good and the front kind of up because it was the front sucks but and then when I landed it landed front first and again the Front's not improved yet but ok look good looks super smooth yeah time for the modest ease first Hill Climb crushed it [Applause] that thing is so cool yeah [Music] yeah the thing I definitely want to say too is it looks rougher on camera than it feels it feels just absolutely perfect like he can't even tell the bumps are there like when you're jumping like you should probably don't even really know you're airborne until the front hit right right yeah the front like when you hit something hard with the front you can definitely feel it cuz it's still stock but the rear like you can't tell whether it's touching the ground at all it's like is it floating is it flying I don't know it's off for crafts Sam's track record so far is smashing the BMW into a tree blowing the radiator on the Tacoma what else have you done so if the Odyssey can survive Sam then we're pretty much have a guarantee that it's good to go all right Sam let's see if you can break it [Music] [Laughter] [Applause] [Music] [Music] well there's some Odyssey she goes now we need to do the front end so stay tuned for that thank you guys so much for watching this video and again you want to check out that free ground-beef your life offer click the link in the description we're going to throw some of this ground beef on grill and have some dinner
