so everybody loves a tips and tricks video you feel like there might be like some secret knowledge that's going to help you to finally get over all the hurdles in your database unfortunately I can't promise that in this video but what I am going to do is show you a couple of things that have helped me just to work around some of the intricacies of log seek now these are pretty random if I'm honest I was just looking for a way to consolidate a few topics into one and the second thing that I'm going to be honest about is that I'm still testing my mic setup because if you watch the previous video you know that I have a lot of comments or I have had a lot of comments about my volume and trying to get the audio as best as possible and I want to see if I need to invest in another mic so if this audio is good please let me know in the comments if not please let me know in the comments just do it gently so as always I'm not going to bury the lead here are the five tips in order from most simple to most complex and they are using a back to tick turn remove annoying tags using Code mirror for your code inserting page icons adding Advanced queries in Your Daily Journal page and then using vs code to make bulk edits so I'm quickly going to go into them one by one so what is a backck a btic is a markdown way to indicate inline code so for instance if I get like some import this has happened a lot of times with things from readwise or from omnivore then I have a number 10 there I might not want that to show up in my link references for number 10 so then what I do is I can just simply highlight that and then enter the back text sign it's usually next to the number one on your keyboard I think and there we go it just shows his inline code so it's not a linked reference anymore and that can just help you to clean up your link references also if you're making tutorials or something and you don't want to have things linked that's a great way to get around that the second thing is using Code mirror for your code code mirror is just a great built-in tool into log seek and the way that you can access that is just by saying enter placating a new block and then three of those back ticks and then enter again and then you have the code block and this specific code block here is how I get my tags to look a little bit more like obsidian which I think a little bit better than log SE tag so if you want to add that into your custom CSS I'll add a link to that res SCE below so how do you get the code language to appear in the top right corner like that well simply if I'm in there and I just say Escape I can say for instance maybe I want this to be HTML and there we go so now it's HTML and we render HTML code and unlock going to pretend that I'm a coder and then I could code in HTML but yeah for those who know what they're doing it's going to look very nice Okay the third one is inserting page icons now I get this query a lot when people look at the left sidebar so if I say TL here you see all these different page icons over here it's super easy to do that the way you do that is by using page properties and Page properties is just entering a property on the first block of the page and the way that you can do that is just say colon colon and then I can say icon and then there we go and then I just well I can choose some of the Matched ones over there but for Windows if you use your Windows key that one that looks like a little Windows sign and your period Then you can enter your icon that and now this page will show it will show with that icon eventually so yeah that's how you do it to enter with a Mac I think it's control command and spacebar and that's how you get your your emoji menu okay the next one is really helpful and that's using Advanced queries in Your Daily Journal page let me close oopsie close this up here TL and the advanced queries that I use is a custom query that I built to be able to find things that I don't want to miss so I used to do task management exclusively in log seek I've since moved to another program you can have a look at that t but we're looking at log seek now and I still leave some things that I definitely don't want to miss in log seek yeah and that's more like the long-term thing so like replace passport or get new driver's license I put all those dates in log seek and the way that I do that is I add this default queries in my config doeden file so the way to get to your config doeden file is you go up here to your settings and then if I go to settings and then edit Global config then sorry I chose the wrong one there settings edit conf. this this is you you'll see a block down here I don't know if it's going to be around the number 30 but you'll see default queries and this is where you add this code so I'll add this code as a reference for you and why this is great is if I just go to my home notes Let me just go GJ okay uh you'll see here that I've got this query which then shows tasks scheduled for between a week and 3 months and here is a something which I've scheduled which has revolute detail updat so I must update my Revue details and it has to be done before the 3rd of December so this is a great way just to make sure that that nothing is falling through the cracks and the two components here is it has to have a to-do or later um designation so that's using task management and then also a scheduled date so if I go if I can actually click this here shift click open up here you can see all my messy things and there we go I've got all these things that I need to renew and I've got some vehicle Administration stuff here just things that I want to reference at some later point and yeah these will all then show up in the Horizon and ensure that I don't miss them okay the final thing and I'm going to get back to it now is this is this daily template that I add here and it's got your morning writing gratitude dreams affirmation okay hardly ever write in that anymore which is a bit sad but I should do it more and the trick that I want to look at here is how to use vs code to make bulk edits so what I did I actually went to chat GPT first let me show you the exact conversation I said I have this text repeating on a number of files in a folder of mine I.E these are the my markdown files I want to replace where there's no information IND dens it underneath so anywhere there's any information it must leave it so if I've entered it leave it in there if I haven't I must replace it so it gave me some rejects it didn't work so then I said it doesn't copy properly into vs code oh it said Visual Studio codes is a little bit different so then I copied this and then when I go to visual studio you'll see that I've entered that in and in 72 of my files I have this exact block over there or I haven't actually entered anything in those blocks now when I want to go to my gratitude or dreams where I have written that sort of clutters it up so I now want to get rid of that so now what I can do is I can just replace all now I warn this is do approach with caution here I have gone and look through all of these to make sure that I can actually delete them so I just quickly scroll through the 72 I am not advocating that one should use vs code and you don't know what you're doing like this is as I say the more complex are the tips so this is now going to make both edits and if I just say Control Alt Enter that's now going to replace those 72 occurrences and empty them M and that is going to update in log seek as I go as well so what date was this this was the 10th of or the 6th of October let me go have a look at that quickly and you would recognize okay I have this Portuguese lesson here so these are like all my Portuguese notes coming in and that was at the bottom there and now it's gone okay so that's just a super helpful way to make bulk edits in your workspace so I hope those tips might help you as I say let me know about the microphone and yeah if you are looking for a comprehensive introduction to log seek I've got the course log seek Mastery and that really does take you from beginner to foundation and like helps you to really understand how log seek works and implements it in your own workspace so thanks so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video
