20:18 started by mixing a short film I was not being the audio engineer on the film sets so this is the audio I got from director there's a lot of problems with this audio someplace here the audio is okay in some places there's a lot of noise going on and also over here and I've got a problem with cars driving outside the house the whole story is inside a church so there's big sound in church obviously so the problem with a whole film here is that some places I have a lavalier mic in some places I have the boom mic and sometimes I have both the idea would be to have both and there's obviously being recorded in different places inside a church someplace there's got a small room and some place they have this big sounding room so I couldn't really place EQ and compressors and everything on one track so I had to work with every single one here so the methyl that I ended up using tiling everything here up was using section based processing so going to show you functions section based processing so this is section based processing so I have a and B so I basically can put all plugins down here and when I say apply is gonna print the audio to this audio file so it's gonna change the original file the problem with this track is there's a lot of noise going on it's actually too much noise to get my usually audible noise plugins working so I had to do a couple of processing here before I could use my go-to plug-in that is isotope rx dialog D no sir so we can listen to this [Music] so you can hear that somebody is walking and that is the sound that I want and here we have some dialogue but I don't want the noise study here so I have to remove that so so when I first use the Rx it took away too much of the sound of the dialogue so that was the problem it easily took away the noise here but it also took away some of the quality of dialogue that I didn't like so I reach for the expander so expander is a logic stock plugin and it's the opposite of a compressor so a compressor it takes the peaks and the lows and compress them together so everybody basically has the same volume if you use it too hard the expander does the opposite so it makes loud louder and quiet your quieter down here we have pre listen so you can pre listen to what it does so you're gonna hear without first and then I'm gonna kick in as pad expander yeah so you can hear that expander did a really good job I'm satisfied with this and now I want to print it to the audio but I want to leave this file alone so that's why I want to create a new track and now you're gonna see what it does so I'm gonna hit apply and here you can see is a new audio file but it has the left the one that are processed along under here so I basically can a be just listening here so another so if I'm not happy with this I always can go back and tweak so that's why I like creating a new track so now I can use my other noise reduction plugins on this to take away all the noise and the dialogue will be more natural well other problem I had was this clip here you can hear a car and so I have an EQ here so when I play the audio you will see on the analyzer that there's a lot of Rumble going on in the lows so that's something that I want to take care of and that's just a simple low-pass now we can listen the car is almost gone and I'm happy with this so apply and now I can also do the same here a B if I'm satisfied but you also can see at the waveforms here we have a car here it's gone okay so I've basically been using this technique on everything so I've been through all this section based processing when I was happy with the whole film then I can start working with channel EQ making that molding the sound how I would like it and so on but the basic Corrections I used this process by section based processing so basically you just mark it out of file functions section based processing and here you have the shortcut so that is option shift and P so you can do this a lot faster like this apply done this apply done if you leave this up you can just mark apply mark apply so when everything was even and I was happy with the results I started taking some choices bouncing things down working with EQ compressor and then at the end I took the noise reduction so noise reduction that I end up using was our X file dialogue dean noise so this one and I ended up finding a manual setting here that I liked so I started out hitting learn like this now it's learning and here we have a curb and then I tweaked this and also the settings here to get the best result I could get so I hope you liked this video please hit like button subscribe I see you guys in another video take care [Music]
