hi guys this is rosa kelly welcome back to my channel so today we're gonna be working on a new tutorial so i hope that you guys are excited and let's get to it so hi guys welcome back to my channel so i am so excited to be able to share with you a new tutorial this is going to be a step-by-step detail tutorial on how to create a beautiful mini album i am going to be using the mintai lady collection and this is actually a kit that i got from crafty city and i do have a coupon code for you so i'm gonna leave it on the description box below so you guys can go check it out and the coupon is actually good for the whole um store so anything that you want you can go ahead and use my coupon and it will be for 10 percent off your purchase and so this is one of their beautiful kits that i actually hauled and i showcased some time ago so i'm gonna have um the kids here on the screen you can see all of the things that come with it and so yeah so i think it's absolutely beautiful these dress forms i think they are just so fun they perfectly go with this collection and i just can't wait to start playing with all of these um your kit also comes with two sets of flowers i only have one here i don't know what happened to my other one i think i used it already and then the memory frame some little cheaper pieces some uh flat back pearls and of course the beautiful paper collection so i will do a quick quick um showcase here since i already did a whole video for these uh some time ago but i just love the flowers i love the green color of this collection i think it's very refreshing very beautiful this would be an amazing um like a bride to be wedding book i think or like a wedding book but just for the bride when she's getting ready with her bridesmaids before the ceremony or even a proposal book i don't know or a sweet this thing just something very girly elegance and so um i love it absolutely love it um so yeah so that is what we're gonna be playing with i love that you have this bonus sheet every mint collection comes with that and it is very very practical so i'm going to get set up and let's go ahead and start making the base of the book we are going to use two pieces of chipboard got an 8x10 and one piece cut at 3x10 and then i also went ahead and joined together three pieces of lightweight cardstock so we're gonna wrap these chipboard around it with that and if you would like to see written instructions on this tutorial going to be available on my digital magazine and i'm super excited we're starting a new year of the magazine i have a lot of fun things planned for the magazine for 2021 and yeah i'm so excited so definitely consider subscribing because you um save a little bit more okay so i'm just going to glue these and down and when you put your chipboard you want to um leave a space in between the two pieces so my spacing is about an eighth of an inch and if you want to be very specific about the spacing all you have to do is use your scrap pieces of chipboard and just glue two pieces together and that will be about the same spacing that you will need in between and sometimes that is good to do depending on what type of chipboard you're working with because yours might be thicker than mine and so you know exactly what your spacing will need to be okay so now back to the chipboard i'm just going to glue this one and again i'm leaving my space in between the two pieces and then i'm just going to press down and then i like to trim out the sides because i only need about an inch for wrapping this up so i like to cut all of the things that i don't need the way it doesn't get extra bulky so i'm just going to take that out and then you also want to cut your corners out okay and also you want to leave a space in between your chipboard and your um your cardstock in there as well and there's a very useful tool which is called the right angle tool and i mentioned this um so many times already basically you put it here and then you know exactly the spacing that you need to have uh for your corners and that really helps out because then you know um that your points are not going to be exposed because sometimes the chip work after you wrap it it kind of shows or sometimes your your corners are just pointing and sticking out and yes so this is a very useful tool me because i've done it so many times i already kind of know what the spacing needs to be but again very useful to have um so i'm going to add my double sided tape all along here and i'm just going to cut that out and i'm just gonna press down here now before we glue this down you want to massage your cardstock okay so just go very slow i like to do a 90 degree bend first all over and then i slowly start pushing this all the way around like this okay and then you're gonna press down and this is really going to prevent your cardstock from cracking or coming apart and there you go so now i'm just going to remove the tape and i mentioned this so many times and i've been asked about this tool and this is actually what comes with your cricut machine and i use it to peel off the back of my tape and so it's really useful one of my favorite tools for you so if you have seen my videos before you see me use that million million times okay so now i'm going to go ahead and do the same for the other side really quick so then you also want to mark in between your gap lines right here so you can bend these easily okay so there you go and then i'm just going to wrap the two other sides now when you grab this one you want to tuck in your corners i'm just getting my other score tool and i'm just going to tuck this in like that okay and then we're going to fold these the same way so you want to fold this slowly and then press down and then we're going to add our tape right here like that and then take out the tape here okay and then we're just going to press this and down and there you go so i'm going to do the same with this other side so there you go now we're done wrapping the chipboard around and now we're going to add the hinges and secure the inside of this spine okay so for the hinges i'm going to use two pieces of lightweight cardstock and i'm cutting these ones at nine and a half by eight and a half and i am going to start scoring at one and a half and then we're going to do two and a quarter two and a quarter and three then we're going to do three and three quarters four and a half five and a quarter six inches six and three quarters and seven and a half okay so then i'm going to trim this right here at the last score line which is seven and a half so that's gonna be my first piece and then for the second piece i am going to score at three quarters then add one and a half and then i'm going to score at three inches and i'm going to cut these at the three inch line okay so then this book is going to have three signatures and it's going to have a three-quarter inch gussets in between so now we're going to start making the hinges so the first one is one and a half inch so we're gonna leave that along then the next one is the three quarter inch we're also not going to touch that one and then we're going to use the next two okay so nothing nothing and then the next two we are going to join together and i'm just going to press down okay so here we go i'm just going to press down both ways then i'm going to skip the next one again and i'm going to join together the other two okay and again i'm going to fold these along here both ways okay so now we have two hinges and then the next one we're going to skip and the next one we are going to fold along the score line and then here we have half half a hinge right so then this half is going to be joined together with this one here so we're going to fold the first three quarter inch down and just simply glue these two together to form the third hinge so i'm going to add my glue okay and then we're going to join these two pieces together and this will be much easier if you have a 12 by 12 page then you don't have to join them together you can just do one entire um score but because i only have the eight and a half by 11 i kind of have to join them together okay so now i'm just going to glue the hinges together as well so i'm just adding my glue on the back and i'm going to press down here okay and then we're going to do the next one okay and there you go so now i have my three inches ready and i like to place them to one side and then give it a good fold and then we're gonna place it to the other side and give it a good fold so we will have a one and a half and then a score line and then we have the three quarter inch which is your first gusset then we have our three inches then you have another three quarter inch and another inch and a half at the end and now we can go ahead and add that on to our book right here so i like to have these score lines you will see your first score line and your last should both match to the gap length here on the spine and that is a good way to know if you are adding these um straight you can use the score lines as a guide as well okay so i'm just going to add my glue all over the back okay so i'm going to add glue all over here and you want to make sure you put enough glue behind each one of the hinges as well as the sides okay and then i also like to add blue right next to the bending lines right here because this is the area that tends to bubble up so i'm just gonna make sure i have plenty of glue right here and then i'm ready to add my hinges so again i'm going to use the first score line as a guide i'm guiding myself to the two bend marks on the top and bottom and then same thing on these sides so they should all line up and i'm just going to press down so i'm going to use this tool right here and press and down and i do have a link to my amazon store where you can find all of the crafty tools that i use um all the time okay so i'm gonna have that link below and there you go i love this one because you can really get in there and get all of that air out and then what i'm going to do is use my ruler and just gently press down here again we already have the score line but i just like to mark it once again and then i'm going to just hold my ruler down and fold this over and then i'm going to do this here okay and you can see that your score line should match and if it doesn't that's okay as well you can just create a new score line just make sure that you are doing that on top of your bending line and i'm just gonna press here and give it a quick fold okay and there you go so now we're done with our hinges and i'm going to add my double sided tape to each one of these hinges so you want to add it closest to the outside edge and you also want to add these on both sides of the hinge okay so just like that and then finally i'm going to add two pieces of heavyweight cardstock and these two pieces were cut at nine and three quarters by seven and three quarters and these are just going to help me protect my hinge in place and it's going to secure all of the binding so i'm just going to glue this down [Music] and there you go so now we're done with the base of our book and we can move on and work on the pages so for the base pages we are going to use three pieces of nine and three quarters by seven and a half in three pieces of ten and three quarters by seven and a half so i'm going to score the large pieces and we're going to score at half an inch along the ten and three quarters inch side so we're gonna score at half an inch and add a 10 and a quarter and i'm going to do the same for the other two pieces so then we're going to fold along the score lines both sides here and we're going to add our double sided tape to each side so i'm just gonna add one right here and then i'm going to add my tape here and just take that out and then we're going to do the same to the other pages as well okay so now we're going to put the page together so basically i'm going to line up these two pieces the one with the score tape and the one without and i'm going to peel off a section of the tape here so you're just going to take some out and put it to the side and then we are going to make sure the other three corners match just like that and then you're gonna press down on that sticky side and just remove the tape and then i'm going to hold this on the center and remove the tip from the other side and there you go so that's how we're going to put together the base pages and i'm going to do the same with the other two okay so we have these pages ready then to make the pages loaded i'm going to add some expandable an expandable section to them so so we're gonna use three pieces of nine and three quarters by eight inches and six pieces of seven and a half by two inches and then we are going to score these large pieces at half an inch along the inch side okay so i'm going to do the same for all these three pieces half an inch and i have one more half an inch and then for these smaller pieces we are going to score along the two inch section at half an inch one inch and one and a half and we are going to do the same for all six pieces so now i'm going to start with the large piece and i'm going to fold along the score line and i'm going to add some double sided tape in here okay and then we're going to line these up to our base page so i'm just going to basically add it to this side so first i'm going to take out some of the tape again and line this up right here and then we're just going to press down on that sticky side and remove the tape okay and then we're going to use two of the smaller pieces and we're going to fold these pieces in half and then we're going to bring in one side and the other side so you want to fold this like an accordion basically and then you're going to have this piece that looks like that and we are going to glue each one of these to the sides now you want to make sure that these uh accordion is pointing in towards the page okay and then also make sure that when you add these nothing is sticking out and if it is sticking out you might want to trim that a little bit because when we close this it's going to push this out a little bit so it might come out like mine comes out a little bit okay so i'm just going to trim out a tiny bit that way i don't have that issue and then i'm going to glue this down so we are going to glue one on the bottom and then one on the top so i'm just going to add this one first right here okay press down and before i glue this i'm going to add the other piece on the top so same thing here i'm going to fold along the score lines just like that and then we are going to glue this here make sure that it's pointing towards the inside of the page and i'm going to take out just a little section off okay so i'm just going to add my glue okay and then this will go right there along the top okay and then we're gonna press down and we are going to add glue here again and here okay and then we're going to close this page okay so make sure that goes inside and then press down and then same thing here press it all the way down just like that and just like that and then you'll see that we have our expandable pockets here and you can definitely add a lot more formats and pictures on these pockets compared to the other flat pockets so i'm going to continue doing the same thing for the other two pages [Music] [Music] so we have our base pages ready and we're going to start working on each one of these at a time so i'm going to start with this one and we're going to be doing some layouts into each one of these pieces so for page number one which is going to be this side this is gonna be one and two we are going to use two pieces of nine and three quarters by seven and a half and i am going to score at half an inch along the seven and a half inch side so now i'm going to fold along the score lines and i'm going to add these pieces onto my book now i'm going to be playing around with some punches because i feel like i haven't used my punches in such a long time and they just add such a delicate touch to your book especially with the collection that i'm using that's very girly and pretty so i'm gonna be using one of my martha stewart punches here and i went ahead and did a little search of some punches added some into my amazon store so they're easy to find and i found some pretty ones [Music] okay so here is this piece and you can see the beautiful edge and i am going to add the one with the punch edge on the left side and then i'm going to add the other piece on the right side of the page so we're just going to line this up [Music] and there you go so that is going to be our page number one and then we're gonna move on to the back so for page number two we are going to use two pieces of five inches by eight and a half um and we are going to score the first piece at half an inch and at eight inches okay so we're gonna do half an inch and eight inches and the second piece we are going to do the same half an inch and eight inches and we're also going to do half an inch along the five inch side and these are basically going to be a double pocket page so i'm going to take out the corners for the bottom page and before i add this onto my book i'm going to do another edge here on both of these pieces okay so now we're going to fold along the score line so i have the piece that goes on the bottom which is this one right here and then the one that was only scored on the sides so we're going to add these piece first so this one is going to go at the center of the page like this so i'm going to add some glue on each side here okay so we're gonna do it there and some glue here and then i'm going to place this one right in the center okay and then i'm just gonna press down like that then i'm going to add the other piece with the button score on the bottom so we're going to add the other one right there i'm gonna add my glue right here [Music] and right here okay and then we're going to add this [Music] piece so for the next page we're going to cut two pieces of eight inches by seven and a half and we're going to score along the eight inches at half an inch and at three quarter inches so i'm going to do the same for both half an inch and three quarter inches and then i'm also going to do a border punch for one of these pieces so then we're going to fold along the score lines and we are going to add one piece along the top and i'm going to add the one with the border punch on the top and the other one on the bottom so i'm just going to add my glue and we're going to place this piece on the top right there okay so now i'm going to add the other one along the bottom so you want to lay these flat so you can line up the edges and then we do have a quarter inch gussets on these two pages okay so we are going to stand up our gussets and then we're going to close these up so then we're going to use two pieces of seven inches by two and we are going to score at half an inch one and one and a half i'm going to do the same with the other piece and we are going to make another expandable type pocket so i'm going to bring back my page here and we're going to open these up and then we're going to add these pieces on this side to create the accordion um pocket so i'm going to fold these pieces here okay so i'm just going to fold along the lines and i'm going to do the same for this other piece okay here we go and then i am going to glue these two pieces onto the back of this page and we're going to make sure that the point is uh facing the inside of the of the page okay so we're just going to add some glue and i'm going to line this up to the edge here there you go and i'm just going to put press that right in there and then we're going to add the other one on the other side okay and then i'm going to do the same line it up and just press down and then we are going to add some glue on the other side of the accordion folds and we're just gonna close these pockets okay so here we go and this is going to be a larger it here so i'm just gonna mix it make sure these two are lined up to the page and i'm just going to press down okay so here we go there you'll see we have an expandable pocket and then this is going to close here on top and now let's go ahead and work on the back so for page number four i am going to use one piece of nine and three quarters by seven and a half and we're going to score this piece at half an inch along these seven and a half inch side and then we're going to fold along the score line and we're going to add these page here on our book so i'm just going to glue this down okay and we are going to add these page here [Music] so i went ahead and added the border punch on this flap as well i just love how that automatically embellishes the page is so pretty um so now let's go ahead and work on page number five so for this page we're going to use two pieces of nine and three quarters by four and a quarter and we are going to score at half an inch along the four and a quarter inch side and i'm going to do the same for both and then we're just going to fold along the lines and we're going to add one on each side of the page so i'm just going to glue one here and these are going to make a gatefold page so i'm just going to add one to the left okay so we're gonna press down and then we are going to add one to the right okay so here we go and then i'm just gonna press down right here and now we have our gatefold page and now we are going to work on page number six so for page number six i am using a piece of eight and a half by seven inches and i'm going to score along the eight and a half at half an inch and at eight inches and i'm going to add this piece to the center to create a belly band but i'm going to use my border punch and i'm going to do a double edge on each side of my punch edge and i am going to just fold along the score lines and we are going to add this piece here on the center and i'm just going to add some glue okay so here we go i'm going to do this side as well and then we're just going to add these to the center so there you go we're done with the uh main pages and we're gonna come back and decorate using our beautiful mint lady paper collection so i hope that you guys join me next time and don't forget to visit my website i will have all of the brilliant instructions for this tutorial on my digital magazine this is the volume 3 and yeah i hope you guys are enjoying the tutorial and i'll see you on the next one bye [Music] you
