Living From Christ Within Pt 7 - Joe Sweet

praise god living from christ within part seven in the last session about two weeks ago we talked about building up our spirit man and be led by our spirit first thessalonians chapter 5 verse 23 and 24 tells us that we are a three-part being spirit soul and body the bible says that when we receive christ as our savior the lord the spirit of jesus which we call the holy spirit but in the bible the holy spirit is also called the spirit of christ when the spirit of christ comes to live inside us his spirit becomes one with our spirit the bible says the spirit of man is the candle of the lord so the spirit of god lights up our spirit now there's other ways that our our spirit is lit up paul told timothy to in first timothy chapter 1 verse 6 he said i remind you to stir up the gift of god which is in you through the laying on of hands we're talking about building up our spirit man but to come back to first timothy those who live according to the spirit set their minds on the things of the spirit so what we think about determines whether we walk in the flesh the soul realm or the spirit romans 8 14 as many as they're led by the spirit these are the sons of god now there's four words used in the greek in the new testament for son napieos padeon technon huios in romans 8 14 it's weiss a full immature son or daughter who god gives the keys the checkbook and the authority to that's what jesus was at age 30 when he went and was baptized in the jordan river began his public ministry god spoke audibly and said this is my son in whom i'm well pleased that was that event was called wheelfesia in the greek it means the placing of a fully mature son in the house of god to do the business of the father so he says those that are led by the spirit will be placed in the house of god as fully mature with authority to do the business of the father so our challenge our mandate what's in front of us is to learn this christ is in us we're new creatures our sins are washed away by the blood of jesus ephesians 2 7 says now we are seated in the heavenlies with christ second peter chapter one says all things that pertain to life and godliness have been given to us ephesians chapter one says we've already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in christ god has done it we're born again our past is gone we're new we're in christ we're seated with him in the heavenlies everything pertaining to life the natural and the spiritual life and godliness is ours in christ so now here's what we have before us we have the option of walking according to the lusts of the flesh the reasonings of the human soul or according to the spirit and they that are led by the spirit are the we are sons of god so what we're talking about is learning how to build up the spirit man because if our spirit man is weak our soul and our flesh will dominate us but the stronger our spirit man becomes he can overthrow the flesh and the soul the by the our flesh our soul can't cannot put our soul down our soul can't put our flesh soul is willpower our mind will our emotions cannot subdue the flesh the bible says if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the flesh you shall live so we don't fight the flesh with the flesh religion and that's how we've all done it unknowingly well intended but we've we've all tried to overcome by our willpower by our ability i'll try again i'll do this i'll do that but it's by building up the spirit man and the spirit man over froze the flesh and the soul okay so first timothy 1 verse 6 paul said i remind you paul is speaking to his spiritual son a young apostle timothy i remind you to stir up the gift of god which is in you through the laying on of my hands now the gift he's referring to is the holy spirit we know that because of the next verse he said for god has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and a sound mind so there was a time when paul and they laid hands on timothy and he was filled with the holy spirit paul said now i'm going to remind you timothy stir up that gift now it's interesting that the translators put the english word stir up but if you read the words in a greek and it's easy to find now on the internet you can find greek transliterations you can look up on the blue letter bible you can find the greek word it doesn't say really stir up the gift that's i understand that's a valid translation but the literal greek means to fan the flame kindle the fire of the gift that's in you that's a that's a better greek translation so paul is saying that the holy spirit is the gift that's inside of us how many are born again how many believe colossians 1 27 christ lives in you ephesians chapter 3 tells us he lives in us by faith so we have we it falls upon us to stir up to fan the flame imagine charcoals that are just embers there's no flame and maybe there you take a stick and you stir them and then you fan it with you fan the flame and flames come up now what's going on when that happens fire has to have oxygen so when he says fan the flame of god that's in you now we're told in the bible in deuteronomy 4 24 god is a consuming fire deuteronomy 9 3 god is a consuming fire hebrews 12 29 in the new testament god is it doesn't say god has fire god's spirit is fire natural fire is only a symbol of the reality of what god's spirit is so when we look at the natural fire it can tell us things about the spirit of god now how much fire we walk in as believers how much of the manifested presence of god we walk in is up to us we're to tend the fire we're to be stewards of that fire now paul told timothy god has not given us a spirit of fear but of love power and a sound mind meaning that when we stir up the gift of the holy spirit in us it results in us being filled with love power and a mind that's supernatural the mind of christ a sound mind it happens by stirring up but but again stirring it's fanning the flame of the fire now now fanning the flame think about it to if you fan the flame of a fire if there's a little flame and you fan the flame it becomes a big flame why you're feeding it oxygen so what god is saying is feed the fire of the holy spirit and whatever level of fire you're at now it will increase yes that's what he's saying so what so we we don't have to look to somebody else to get us full of the fire of the holy spirit and as we fan the flame of the fire it results in more love love casts out fear more love more power he's given us a spirit of love power and a sound mind that means we're not unstable we're stable we know the will of god we're confident we're established clear unwavering the sound mind so that's why we're gonna that's why we're talking about building up the inner man now what is what happens when fire a little flame becomes a large flame it results in more light and more heat fire also speaks of fervency more passion so we want to remind ourselves we're we're talking about living out of christ within us and so in order to do that how many want to live out of christ we must cultivate not a once in a while but we must cultivate a lifestyle of fanning the flame keeping the fire burning so let's remind ourselves those who set their mind on the things of the spirit walk in the spirit second corinthians 5 17 you are a new creation ephesians 1 you are verse 3 through 7. you are already blessed with every spiritual blessing in christ you're seated in the heavenlies you've been given everything that pertains to life and godliness jesus christ himself first corinthians 1 verse 30 31 has become our wisdom righteousness sanctification and redemption isn't that awesome christ is our righteousness he's he's my sanctification he's your sanctifier now what when that really gets settled in your spirit you're going to accelerate in your sanctification because your confidence becomes in him not in you when we're looking at ourselves instead as as making ourself better instead of christ as our sanctifier we can get easily discouraged or deluded and puffed up one of the two extremes but christ is our sanctifier he's our redemption first john 4 9 the love of god was manifested in us toward us that god has sent his only begotten son into the world that we might live through him we're to live by christ in it second corinthians 3 5 the apostle says not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as of ourselves but our sufficiency is of god amen philippians 1 21 for me to live is christ paul said this let that sink in for me to live is what christ he's everything he's my helper he's my savior he's my advocate if any man sins we have an advocate with a father he's always in your corner he's always for you he's always with you he's always there for you he's always backing you he ever lives to intercede for you he is your righteousness he is sanctifying us he is our redemption he is the glory lifter of our head he's the one that leads us and guides us by his spirit into all truth his spirit in us prays through us with groanings when we don't know how to pray he's everything he's our life he's the one that guides us through the maze when we don't know what to do or how to do it he's with us he'll never leave us or forsake us for god's love was manifested by giving us his son that we might live through him leaning on him looking to him relying on him living from his grace in everything that's called rest living by faith is a life of rest ephesians i mean hebrews chapter 4 by faith we enter into rest joshua and caleb entered into the promised land that promised then was a type and shadow of coming into rest in christ so he said let us labor to enter into that rest now that might seem like an oxymoron but it's not he said labor to enter into that rest in other words take the time to renew your mind that's the labor take the time to worship god take the time to feed your spirit fan the flame of the fire that's in you the more that fire is flame is fanned the more we're full of love power and a sound mind and and that is christ it is his love it's his faith in us and we can enter into rest does it mean we're not working outwardly we might be working three times harder but completely at rest in our heart paul out labored all the apostles but he was at rest so that's what it means to live out of the spirit so last week we talked about jude 20 21 i want to touch on that again and go farther from it jude 20 21 do you remember i mean two weeks ago beloved you building up yourselves in your most holy faith praying in the holy spirit and we talked about praying in tongues not every believer does pray in tongues but every born-again believer can pray in tongues and every born-again believer should pray in tongues paul said and it's scripture once it's written down in the bible it's the word of god amen when god spoke to moses in the burning bush once it was in the scripture it now became god speaking to you and me yes yes jesus proved that when the decision when uh his actually his enemies were trying to trap him with questions the scribes and pharisees jesus answered to them here's what he said have you never read what god has spoken to you in the burning bush passage when he said i'm the god of abraham isaac and jacob that means he's the god of the living not of the dead so jesus quoted where god was speaking to moses but once it was written in the bible jesus said it's god talking to you he said have you never read what god said to you so when paul says i would that you all speak in tongues that's now god speaking to you this is the word of god god's saying here's god's heart i wish all believers would speak in tongues why he that speaks in a tongue edifies he builds up his spirit man makes you stronger so he said build up yourself in your most holy faith praying in the holy spirit keeping yourselves in the love of god looking for and that word is also translated over and over in the bible receiving keep yourself in the love of god receiving the kindness and the goodness of the lord unto the life of god it's called eternal life but he's already talking to people that are born again so he's not saying do this to get saved when it says unto eternal life the eternal life is describing the quality of the life of the spirit it's unending life of god she said build yourself up in your most holy faith that means have a life in the word of god read and meditate on the bible praying in the holy spirit that that builds up your spirit keeping yourself in the love of god god is love if we abide in love we abide in him he abides in us receiving the kindness now staying in the word praying in the spirit and keeping ourselves in the love of god puts us in a position to receive a continual flow of god's kindness unto the life of god filling us that's what jude 20 21 says now this message what i'm saying and i'm not saying anyone is doing this but i'm just warning us this message won't do anybody any good unless we practice it these are not meant to be intellectual discourses these are instructions to apply so we can all get more full of the holy spirit and all be led by the holy spirit all right so this is something that i'm not i heard i've heard someone else say that's a good thing to say i don't practice what i preach i preach what i practice we practice melinda and i practice this for all of our marriage all our life together we practice every day the first thing both of us do every day we get up first thing be with the lord be in prayer be in the word every day every day every day every day every day build yourself up in your most holy faith read the bible meditate on the word get it in colossians let the word of god dwell in you richly psalm 119 verse 130 the entrance of god's word gives light john 6 the words that i speak are spirit and life so if we're going to have fire burning in our heart we've got to be people of the word amen and then praying in tongues building up your inner man and keeping yourself in the love of god those three things will position us to where we're receiving the kindness of god that fills us with his eternal life it's another thing i want to say to anyone that's here or maybe watching online please guard your heart from from because it's so subtle it can happen to any of us it can happen to any of us to hear a word mentally agree with it but never practice it it would be better for you to not hear the word because we're all going to give an account to god for what we've heard not everybody's hearing these kinds of teachings you're hearing it how to build up your spirit man now god's going to hold us accountable someday we're going to stand before me and say did you build your spirit man up we have i'm saying this right now what i'm saying is because it came to me during worship i felt the holy spirit say to admonish us apply this god wants you and me to be full of the holy spirit more than we want it because he wants his life to be flowing out to touch people god wants that he wants an anointing and his presence has power in you on you and through you more than you want it this is not this message is not a lifestyle enhancement to make you have a better life is to make us pleasing unto god and vessels of honor through which his kingdom can come but if we have a mindset oh well i could i'm already happy i could take or leave that that means we're completely self-absorbed and we're not yet to the place where we're about the father's business because when we have a burden to do the father's business we have a desire to be full of his spirit so we have to practice this pray in tongues pray in tongues stay in the word keep yourself in the love of god now let's go on a little bit farther oh by the way as as our spirit man is stronger and we have a sound mind love and power it's easier for us to discern the leading of the lord the more we're in the word and our spirit man is built up the easier it is we're strengthened to obey god see love casts out fear doesn't it galatians 1 10 paul said do i seek to please men for if i still please men i would not be a bond servant of christ if our spirit man is built up where it frees us from the fear of man if we have the fear of man paul said we can't be a servant of christ we'll be too concerned about whether people like us we'll be too concerned if people think we're crazy we'll be too concerned about what people think about us so one of the reasons scholars believe that timothy may have struggled sometimes with the spirit of fear that paul wrote to him timothy i'm reminding you build up your inner man stir up the fire fan the flames because god hasn't given us a spirit of fear and as the fire gets bigger fear goes out we turn into another man read first samuel when the spirit of god came on saul the bible said he was turned into another man and that's what happens we are new creations but we can walk as a soulish man or a flesh man but god wants to turn us into the new man it's by building up the spirit and be led by the spirit now being led by the spirit is contrary to the soul to the reasonings of man if we are going to go on and every one of us not just me all of us to be led by god we will have to do things that other people think were crazy and if your spirit man's not built up you'll cower down and you'll compromise because you're afraid of what people think yes listen we're called to be overcomers i remember back in uh it was a 1978 i was born again in 1977. i had a really good job working with my family in real estate and i heard the voice of the holy spirit speak to me i was offered a job you would not believe how little i would get paid i was making good money back then but i was also burning on fire i mean my every spare man i was single every spare moment i was reading the bible or at church or at a prayer meeting or on the street passing out tracks i passed out thousands of tracks showing gospel movies leading people to christ so i was that's i was absorbed consumed with that and i as i was at my desk working one day i heard a voice of god he kept telling me follow me follow me anyway long story short my pastor who is a very saintly spirit-filled godly praying and fasting catholic priest he came to me it was my first church i was in when i was born again and he said uh the lord told me that you're called to the ministry and i'm supposed to take you under my wing and help mentor you that was one of the best years of my life with this saint of god who taught me how to wait on god meditate on the word pray in tongues and all kinds of things how to fast he fasted all the time he was six foot one and weighed 145 pounds he fasted he averaged about four hours a day of prayer and was fasting all the time floating the gifts of the spirit manifested christ catholic priest come on here's how much he got paid he was in a poor diocese in coachella california before it became famous for debauchery when i lived in coachella i ended up moving down there he offered me a job he said no i can't pay you he said the diocese they don't they only hire a priest but he said lord said you should it was a 2 500 member church he said you should be the youth pastor i said well i don't know how to do that he said i'll help you i'll train you so he said but there's really nothing in the budget to give you now watch here's how much this man got paid they gave him a house with room and board and the lady came in and she made all the meals three times a day and he got a salary of 350 a month pastor of a 2500 member church he said i can't give you very much but i can give you there's a room here you could have free room and board and i'll pay you 100 a month out of my own paycheck and for weeks before that i kept hearing the spirit of god say follow me follow me follow me i kept hearing that audibly well it sounded audible but it was in the spirit loud and clear and when he offered me that job i heard the holy spirit said that's what i'm talking about take it i left a really good pain now i could do it then because all my bills were paid i didn't have any bills my car was paid you know everything i i may have oh i think i had a 65 i don't know i think everything was paid off i just needed gas whatever so for about a year i lived down there and i worked there for 100 a month you know what it was wall-to-wall god i got discipled there for a while as the more i get read of the bible the more my eyes were open and i came out of the catholic church but god had that saintly man there to help me what if i'd now do you know what kind of criticism i took for leaving my job to take that oh the the gossip the backbiting the finger pointing people said i was out out of my mind but i wasn't i was out of their mind not my i was in the mind of christ it was god that happened again and then after a while i went back into a few years later i went back into real estate and i did ministry and real estate together then back again in 19 about i think it was 1988 the lord spoke to me again i had first i got wrongfully fired for doing i took a stand for isis i got wrongfully fired and the lord had told me i did that because i now want you to move to the antelope valley and so i i said okay lord i will and then i got my job offered back he said we made a mistake please come back and i got in writing from the owner of the business as long as i'm alive i guarantee you'll never lose your job and it was a very high paying real estate job but the lord already spoke to me here was the option at the same time i had two different pastors one in orange county that wanted to pay me if i would come and move and be a part of his church and there was a pastor in palm desert of a large church he wanted me to stay in palm desert i said no i'm moving to lancaster he said why i said i don't know said do you have a job out there i said nope just left my job he said your ministry i said nope i don't know what i have i have nothing except the word of the lord so the pastor in palm desert told me right to my face that i was psychotic he was angry with me because he wanted me to stay and be part of his church i said nope i'm going to obey the lord he said you have no job out there he said nope no ministry nope how are you getting out there i said by faith he said here's what he said he said you're psychotic because he was he was running his church by soul power and sad to say it wasn't long until his big church folded and he he left town and he's out of the ministry but god's doing something good in lancaster glory to god [Applause] what am i saying what's my point not to brag on anything except this we have to be led by the spirit our spirit has to overthrow our soul the soul doesn't have the la i'm not saying don't use your brain but the soul doesn't have the last word the spirit does i remember when uh the lord spoke to us to plant a church here lancaster i had all kinds of people try to talk me out of it you're wrong blah blah blah but that we have to when your spirit is built up you can hear the voice of god and just keep going and without any regard of if people criticize you mock you backstab you think it doesn't matter we have to walk in the spirit and do the will of god amen so so my point is this we have to build up our spirit man build up our spirit man jude says in prayer one build up our faith that's from the word two praying in tongues here's another uh proverbs two it's this is going to talk to us about the word and prayer the word and prayer together builds up your spirit man setting your mind on the things of the spirit proverbs 2 verse 1 my son my daughter if you receive my words and treasure my commands within you so you incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding so that's talking about receiving the word of god treasure it up in you then he says prayer yes if you cry out that's prayer for discernment lift up your voice that's prayer for understanding seek her as silver search for her as for hidden treasure then you will understand the fear of the lord and find the knowledge of god so there it is again god the knowledge of god is the manifested experiential presence of god in our life that's what it means knowledge of god it's not information the knowledge of god is experiencing him that's what it means so god said if you'll store the word in your heart and you'll cry out you'll pray to me those two things there's the word in prayer you'll find the knowledge of god it builds up our spirit man so jude or how many are with me so so we need to apply it you'll understand the fear of god now the knowledge of god second peter chapter one it says grace and peace are multiplied to you through the knowledge of god so there it is when he said fan the flames of the stir up the gift fan the flames of the gift now the gift in us is fire god is a consuming fire god's in us on the day of pentecost what was on their heads that was the holy spirit resting upon them so the gift that's in us is fire but if the fire goes down the soul becomes stronger the soul and the flesh start dominating us when the fire gets stronger the soul and flesh get overthrown so the way to live out of christ is feed the spirit feed the spirit feed the spirit give oxygen to the flames now you may think again that has to do with your willpower our soul is so used to being in control that when i say feed the spirit right away people's soul gets involved i will now we feed the spirit we passively receive the word get alone spend time let the word enter let the word do the work the word is alive the interest of the word brings light don't think to yourself you the old mind says oh boy now i really got to work hard to feed my spirit no you don't get alone and let the word get into you the word does the work don't think oh this is really putting another trip on us let's see i got to do this no no no not got to do this or that you're a new creation you get to fan the flames that's what happens you get to fan the flames and it'll work it does it don't think to yourself you know i'm not a super saint i don't know i don't know if i'll get yes you will christ is in you the same as he's in someone else you're a new creation like someone else is you're seated in the heavenlies just like someone else now spend time in the word get quiet let the entrance of the word bring light here's what jesus said how the word works he said the kingdom of heaven is like a man who took a seed planted in the ground and then he went to sleep and when he woke up there was a plant there and he doesn't know how it got there anybody ever read that mark chapter 4 jesus said that's the kingdom so is that your soul working hard no it's not it's you taking the word and planting it in your spirit let the word do the work keep putting the word in go to sleep wake up tomorrow keep putting the word in keep go to sleep one day you're going to find yourself in a situation where in the past you responded this way and all of a sudden this plant of the life of christ is going to come out and you go how many have had that happen already said oh dear god i didn't have a fit right now i usually have a fit when that happens you put the seed in the life comes up now one more hang with me just tell me still with me a third of you praise the lord listen ephesians 5 here's another way to get full of the holy spirit this is going to bless your socks off ephesians 5 verse 18 to 20 don't be drunk with wine now wine is compared to the holy spirit because wine alters your mood makes you relaxed your problems don't feel so bad but if you drink too much of it the next day you have a bad headache and bad breath and your problems are still there and they might be worse because you got up late from having wine and now your problems are worse so he's saying don't drink don't get drunk with wine because it disapp it wears off but get filled with the holy spirit and he's going to tell us how speaking to yourselves in psalms hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody in your heart to the lord when we come together in worship and you start feeling the presence of god filling you this should not be the only time that happens should happen every day of our life all the time so he said speak yourself in psalms hymns and spiritual songs singing making melody in your heart to the lord giving thanks always for all things unto god and the father in the name of the lord jesus christ so how many want to be full of the holy spirit okay here's what the word says don't be drunk with wine wearing his exes but be filled now the greek tense is be being filled it's a continual tense which means that we need to always have a continual flow of an infilling of the holy spirit in our life so he said be constantly being filled so now we have to be intentional we have to cultivate this so it goes along with jude 20. build up yourself for your most holy faith praying in the holy spirit keeping yourself in the love of god receiving the kindness of god unto life unto eternal life isn't that a great thing that's that's fanning the flame now every single person can do this and we must do it not can we must so it means cultivating a time when you drive when you're in the shower when you're doing the dishes our minds can be on something futile or we can sing unto the lord we can sing we can pray in tongues we can make melody and as we cultivate this habit the more we do it the more full of the spirit we become that's what it says so i want to be full of the spirit there it is right there sing and make melody and give thanks to god always for everything you know thanks giving thanks to god will make you get full of the holy spirit now that we can thank god for everything and you can turn it into a song and it doesn't matter if you sing good or not because if you're in your car nobody can hear you or in the shower does it matter just sing it says sing to yourself that's what it says so it means as you go through the day you can make up songs you can sing to the lord melinda and i both do this a lot i all hear her singing as she going through the day praying in tongues as she goes through the day i do it too to go through the day and uh just i love you lord and i lift my voice while you're driving it and you can practice and cultivate it and the more we do it the more full of the holy spirit uh and i'm going to just say this even as i'm reading this last week and the week before i felt convicted by the lord i felt like the lord saying to me you need to do this more i do it but he said you need to do it much more than you're doing it now and i'm can i'm saying okay lord i'm on it amen i i'm gonna do this because uh this is how we stay filled now there's secular history anybody read about the saint called francis of assisi okay there's a lot of stuff about him that's fluff and not true but he was a real saint of god there's real secular history about him from italy around the 1100s 11th century the late 10s or early 1100s francis of assisi understood about being filled with the holy spirit and about giving thanks now he lived it i have original writings from him translated out of the italian or whatever latin into english so i've read stories of their secular history about francis here's what he was francis lived a lifestyle all the time of praising god all the day and night of praising god he lived this verse that says sing make melody give thanks to god for everything so he lived that he lived this verse he was full of the holy spirit you ever wonder why they look at pictures of old saints and they put a halo around them because you could literally see the light of god and so francis would thank god for the sun he thanked god for the water he thanked god for the grass you thank god for the fire you know we have so much to thank god for none of us are thankful enough but the more we thank him the more we get full of the holy spirit do you know why the atmosphere of heaven is praised and thanksgiving and when we cultivate that in us heaven starts to fill us you go to heaven what's going on there is worship thanksgiving and praise adoration gratefulness so francis practiced it all the time and he was full of the holy spirit now he had about 12 disciples in his early days as he got toward the end of his life he had about 3 000 disciples people that left everything that would become single celibate and follow the lord like he did they were itinerant they would help the poor help the lepers worship god and preach the gospel now there's secular historical records these are not from some christian myth writings these are secular history from assisi from the area around italy where he lived francis and his traveling his itinerant ministers when he had a group of there's about 12 of them they would walk from village to village to preach the gospel part of and what they begged they relied on he called it begging but they relied on love offerings to support him so wherever they went they went with no food they would pray preach pray for the sick heal the sick cast out devils do what they did people would bless them with sustenance whatever they got they would give everything away to the poor and to the lepers and just keep the minimum what they needed to eat on so when they traveled from village to village it would go like this sometimes they would walk as far as five hours to get to a village said friends would say today we're going to this village we're going to preach the gospel historical record on their way they would be a five-hour journey there'd be 12 of them the entire time the entire journey they would be singing the whole time and giving thanks and praise to god for five solid hours along the way they would take of their sustenance and give to the beggars the widows and the poor that be giving all their sustenance to the poor praising god thanking him and blessing him that i've read some of his thanks some of the prayers he wrote he thanked god for the air he thanked god for the son when you hear birds singing he said god thank you for the birds he thanked god for everything that's what this bible says it says right here singing making melody giving thanks to god in all things to be filled now when they arrived at a village the secular history would say that everyone in the entire village was slain in the spirit when they showed up demons coming out people being healed people being converted that's called full of the holy spirit anybody ever seen some of the videos from about 10 years ago reinhard bonke when he's praying on a platform and he prays for people to be filled about 10 000 people fell out in the spirit anybody ever see that video whole villages would fall out under the power of god when they'd show up why am i saying this the holy spirit is speaking to me he wants me to go to a whole other level in cultivating non-stop gratitude and i think he wants us all to go there amen god is not a respecter of persons they were given the same holy spirit we have what's the difference they fanned the flame amen we can do the same thing singing making melody giving thanks for everything to god making it a lifestyle we must feed our spirit man and it will overthrow the soul in the flesh i have more i want to say but i think i've gone long enough god has laid out for us clearly how to build up our spirit man if you and i will cultivate praying in tongues through the day cultivate singing and making melody cultivate holding the word in our heart the word will do the work just keep getting the word in it sometimes it's undetectable sometimes it's undiscernable you can put the word in put the word and you think nothing's happening but it is keep the word coming in keep giving thanks keep praying oh this is you're putting a heavy trip on us we're saved by grace pastor no you don't understand this is not a heavy trip this is a privilege this is a privilege this is learning how to fan the flame i want to have more of god's fire bernie i want the love power and sound mind that's in the ho that's all that is in the holy spirit to rise up and take over how many want love power to sound mind to take over okay we got one thing to do feed the spirit feed the spirit now it's simple you can walk the floor pray in tongues pray in english madeline's doing it right now she cut up a high i remember when my oldest son was about four years old i was it's been my own habit when i go in my room and i pray by myself i kneel down and i'll lift my hands up and i'll worship god and i'll sing spontaneous to the lord i sing spontaneously i just say lord thank you i love you lord i'll start singing i've been doing that for years and years just in my private time just sing thank him bless him and i remember when my oldest son was four years old i was talking with melinda about something it was probably most of the time whenever we had a a need or something was about money back then we said oh we need to buy a crib or we need this let's say i'd always say okay i'm going to go pray about it so i remember saying to melinda we had to talk about something i said i'm going to go pray about it so i walked in the room and i was going to shut the door and my four-year-old son followed me he said dad i want to come pray with you i said okay so i knelt down by the bed i said you kneel down. i said we're going to start i said i always start by thanking god i said let's thank him so i started thanking god and then i lifted up my hands and i sang i forget what i saying i just say i just would sing spontaneously thanking the lord and blessing him he said we always thank him first before we ask him for something so i said now you do it i said you lift your hands up he put his hands up i said just sing to the lord anything out of your heart to bless him he said i don't know what to sing i said sing whatever comes to your mind he said b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p true story come on is that precious or what [Laughter] god heard it god's a person and he wants us to love him he loves us he wants us to love him back when we love him back he can't help but come and rest upon us if we'll worship him and we'll thank him he'll come and fill us for whoever worships god must worship him in spirit and in truth jesus said the father is seeking such he's seeking such to worship him god loves us unto death he's looking for somebody to love him back to thank him to acknowledge him to bless him to appreciate him and he'll come and fill us and he wants us to be filled with his spirit more than we want to be filled because he wants his kingdom to break out of us and touch people so lord we pray what we heard lord would not fall on hard soil but god that our hearts would receive with meekness the engrafted word we heard today god help us to be doers lord make me make us a people that cultivate gratitude songs hymns tongues prayers intercessions percolating bubbling in our spirit all day long the lord we would be a people that would be being filled with the spirit lord help us lord anoint us to pray in the spirit building up our inner man lord help us to fan the flame of the fire that's in us we would be good stewards of the flame you've given us the lord christ would fill us and that god we would be those who can walk and live out of christ as our soul and our flesh are subdued by the spirit of christ within us lord have your way we ask in the name of jesus and if you agree with that say amen let's give praise to god [Applause]
