DEVONTE CARR: Got a car
with defective equipment, got a left tag light out. I'm going to stop him,
have a talk with him. See about the, see if he knew
about the tag light or not. How we doing? Good.
Devonte Carr, Sheriff's Office. The reason I stopped you,
your left tag light-- Oh. --is close to being out. Do me a favor, you hop out, I'll
show you why I stopped you, OK? You see that left tag light? That left tag light is, I mean,
close to being out when you can't see your tag within
50 feet, all right? - OK.
- Cool. Just step to my Chevy-- step
to my Chevy on the right, here. You say your license is good? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Where you coming
from tonight, boss? Uh, just stopped
by a friend's house. I just got off work, actually. Well who, what
friend did you go see? Uh, my buddy, Chris. How long you known
this friend Chris? Uh, a couple years. Yeah? What's his address over there? Oh I don't know. - You don't know it?
- Not by heart, no. Yeah. Would you give
consent to a search of your personal vehicle? No, because I mean
I really didn't-- I mean, what did I do wrong,
to tell you the truth? Well I've noticed
some cues that gives me reasonable suspicion to
ask for consent to search. It's your right. It's your fourth amendment right
to deny consent, all right? But I'll take my
next step, is I'm going to call the canine out. They'll do a free air
sniff of the vehicle, and based off the
reaction of the canine, I'll have probable cause
to go inside the vehicle. So speaking to the driver,
notice some indicators on him, I asked for consent to
search, he did not consent, and I requested the canine. We got the canine out now
that's going to do a free air sniff of the vehicle, and we'll
go from there, see what we get. All right. 1-7. I'll go pull everything out
of the driver [INAUDIBLE].. - Yeah.
- 27, [INAUDIBLE]. The dog did alert the
driver's side door, all right? Gives us probable cause
to search the vehicle and your personal, OK? All right. You sit tight, I
get some gloves. Come to the front of the car. Just turn around, put
your hands on the car. Not any trouble, I'm going
to search you, all right? All right. Put that shoe back on. Huh? OFFICER [INAUDIBLE] Come on, put you
hands behind you back. All right. Just being detained, OK? Please don't arrest me, man. I didn't even know it was-- I didn't know that was
in there, I promise. All right. I'll break it, smash it right
here, do whatever you want. Give me your other hand. That is my ex-girlfriend's. DEVONTE CARR: Right. And I told her that because
she, she was being prescribed the Adderall for quite a while. Yeah. And I found out she was doing
this to compensate for that. OK. And I'm helping her out. You understand, though-- Yeah, I understand. --having it in a
vehicle is illegal? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It did test positive
for methamphetamine. Oh, I'm sure it did. Well, you're under arrest for
possession of methamphetamine, all right? Please don't take me to
jail, man, I'm begging you. I'm begging you. You're going to go for it. Was there anything else
on your person, man? No, I promise you I don't. I'm begging you, within-- I'm begging you please
don't take me to jail. That's fine, man. So I'm going to have him
just-- have you sit in the car, and then we'll go
from there, OK? So the subject
had more narcotic. He's now going to be charged
with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
