[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] please subscribe to my channel let the bell icon welcome to the AC now enjoy greetings AC family welcome everyone I see you guys in the chat and it is awesome to see you here we are going live right now here in Olympus the terrarium it's a brand new terrarium actually which houses a huge super colony of Asian Marauder ants our new Titans are you guys excited I am super excited about this because I cannot wait to show you how ravenous these ants are they are so hungry they eat every single day but I'll go more into their diet and everything else all that goodness for you guys in a bit this livestream is going to be one hour long approximately I mean I've got lots to show you now if you don't know who the Titans are or what Asian Marauder ants are be sure to watch after this livestream last week's video where we introduce them to the channel they really are awesome what's great about them is they're super polymorphic meaning the workers are at different sizes and they're just really cool ants guys so as you guys already know this is going to be a live feeding so let's get to it let's add their food right now so I'm just gonna set this mic down what they're gonna be eating is a freshly killed cockroach because I just feel like feeding them some live food at the moment of course it's not alive even though you might see the cockroach struggling I've chopped it up I've explained this in previous videos but insects have a very funny nervous system it's their brain is distributed through the center of their body they have ganglia that's what it's called and it controls their movements so even if they're dead if you chop up cockroaches head off they're still capable of moving all right so I've got this tube here like a plastic tube which will help me aim when I drop it in okay here we go let's drop this cockroach in oops okay it felt so that that didn't work guys we're going live do you guys know that but lucky for me I've got backup ok let's try let's try this other cockroach I'm just gonna lower this with tweezers oh they're going crazy now let's just go come on there we go all right perfect so as you can see a couple of the ants have discovered the new cockroach and watched the colony come guys these ants are amazing so all of these that you see on screen right now are minor workers so there are very small workers but perhaps later on you'll start to see some majors come in let's hope so let's cross our fingers AC family alright just going to adjust the light here so that you guys can see the ants clearly alright now these ants eat every single day it's it's crazy they can't go a day without eating otherwise they they will lose their largest members and I'll go into that later in the stream and why that is but but these ants are very cool Asian Marauder ants are found throughout Southeast Asia and the difference in worker sizes is what I think is the most impressive about this species they're so hungry right guys also for those of you who are chatting feel free to leave me your questions any comments I'll shout you guys out as best I can because I'm looking right now at the chat box and it is going by so fast so sorry if I miss your question but I'll try to do my best look at all those ants oh and you know what I see a major there oh and here's a larger major coming now to see that on screen up there towards the top of the cockroach now the reason why ants like Asian Marauder ants have majors is because these majors possess all the jaw force of the colony so they will specialize in opening heart to open food items like seeds or in this case a cockroach which has super strong exoskeleton and they also specialize in defense so if I were to stick my finger in there these super majors would probably give me quite the bite now if you look carefully at the livestream you'll notice that some ants are now taking pieces of soil and they're going to try to bury this cockroach and the reason why ants do this is what for several reasons one ants like to bury their booty they like to bury their their finds because it helps them conceal what they found because especially when something is fresh like this it attracts other insects it attracts other creatures that would come and maybe steal their food and if you think about it this cockroach will help the entire colony survive for an entire day all of the protein and nutrients from this cockroach will go on to feed all the members of the colony all the young to feed the Queens who are constantly laying eggs so it's really important that they protect this new large piece of food so they're gonna try to bury this another reason why they will try to bury this cockroach is because currently it's freshly like cut open so all the guts are kind of spilling everywhere and in insects when there's a wound just like in humans the guts start to clot like the just hemolymph contains stuff that helps that hemolymph clot so like if there's a wound eventually all that gooey stuff becomes hard and sticky so the ants will find it easier to work around the cockroach if there's pieces of dirt helping with that clumping it just makes things easier it forms sort of like a lattice work around the cockroach yes blood stuff says isn't that cockroach beautiful yes it is I mean not the cockroach the major the major is beautiful but let's hope a super major comes out at some point in this life stream the super majors for me are the most impressive I'd like to also shout out right now someone who donated a hundred 25 Philippine pesos thank you so much for that super chat someone also poka poka partum depression 'z sent in ten dollars super chat thank you so much really appreciate that if any of you guys do super chat i don't ask that you do super chat but if you do it'll go towards feeding these ends of course and it's greatly appreciated because not sure if you guys have noticed yet but on my channel I don't do endorsements I don't do sponsored videos I kind of want to keep it pure that way so I do rely of course on you guys viewing and and in the support so thank you so much for super chatting means a lot to me but look at all those ads now it's just incredible see it only took a few members for the entire colony to know about this cockroach it's really fantastic and I've got a lot of cool things to show you as well later on in the stream thank you so much Natalie uly4 your five dollar super chat really appreciate that a lot mm-hmm now these ants are called Cara Berra diversa that's the scientific name they used to be called fadela yet and I versus until they were re renamed which happens a lot in scientific nomenclature but there are several there are a few species of Cara Berra in the Philippines here where I live in this species was collected just outside of Manila and they are commonly called Marauder ants and I'll also explain why they are called Marauder ants thank you so much Shelby for your super super super chat of $1 appreciate it thank you so much Mitch for your super chat of $1 by the way guys if you guys send super chats and I don't see them sorry because I'm looking at different screens this is kind of my first time doing this kind of livestream so please bear with me but thank you again for the support it really means a lot to me and yeah so these ants do eat a lot one thing I did want to show you is that they I found they don't only eat insects now these ants don't like sugar for some reason they don't do well with sugar oh thank you so much for the $20 Oh everyone sitting super chats now I'm missing it now thank you so much guys for you sending in super chats as are saying they also will eat other items and if you look at this video that I'm going to show you here you'll notice see this is the second day the Titans were living in Olympus in the middle there you'll see a cockroach which they're eating and you'll even see a super major there right in the middle you see him there her there I shouldn't say him all these workers are female and lots of the miners love to ride these super majors it's really cool and they look really impressive and the super major is really just chilling out on top of that cockroach making sure that no enemies come and steal their cockroach but if you look around the cockroach you'll notice some seeds and the ants are slowly pulling out these chia seeds apparently they love chia seeds so they also do love to eat seeds I guess that's where they get their carbohydrates from and here's a footage from the next day you'll notice that the ants create eventually a tunnel to and from the nest to their food source now these ants eventually started to realize hey food keeps dropping in this area so they decided to create a fortified tunnel so that they can keep that pathway to and from the nest nice and moist dark protected and that's something these ants I find love to do and if you recall from the video from last week it was kind of a mystery why they were moving soil into the portal tube as they were moving into this entire terrarium and now I understand this is what the ants do they love to create tunnels to and from major highways and if you look on the screen you'll see where their location of their nest is they're nested somewhere under this rock here yep now here you'll see the fourth day they're pulling out old garbage from the feeding Bowl they keep this feeding area nice and clean now what they'll do is they'll remove these exoskeletons and place them in a communal garbage site Wow I'm looking at the screen now at the chat and so many of you guys donated thank you so much Wow thank you Netscape for your 10 euro super chat Thank You shadowmaster for your $20 super chat thank you Matt McKechnie Oh from mobile hi squad thank you so much American dollars five dollars Samuel deal from five dollars thank you so much mythical beast for your donation of 666 Colonel Sanders ooh chicken ah ha ha for your donation of 15 as well alena Nowak for your $10 10 euro tent donation and Ryan Chapman for your 9 pounds 999 pounds thank you so much guys this really means a lot to me so yeah you'll see the ants eating here this is another freshly cut up cockroach it's still kind of struggling but the ants are loving it they'll be able to use all of this very sustainable protein for the growth of their colony I love feeding these ants I really for some reason just enjoy watching them eat and I love these tunnels see look at the tunnels eventually it's it's got a complete roof and it's very safe for the ants these ants really have it all figured out now going back to the site and it looks like these ants are still working on that cockroach they're really doing a good job at covering the lower half I do see a major they're walking around patrolling the area I really hope one of the super majors come out yeah that that's a pretty big sizeable major though wouldn't you guys think don't you guys say so Oh more super chats wow thank you so much I love Hanson for five dollars thank you from Guam great chase Jones thank you so much for your $50 Joe it's joins sorry chase joins for your $50 super chat Thank You Netscape for your 10 euro super chat Thank You shadowmaster oh thank you really appreciate it twenty dollars and you guys are the support is really overwhelming oh I do see is that the same super major oh is that several super majors are coming out now this is awesome okay so I guess the ants feel like this site is worth deploying these super majors from the nest because they I guess probably because of the size of the kill they want this extra support right just in case maybe some kind of bird comes along or perhaps a lizard a terrestrial lizard who might want to steal this cockroach or even other ants it's really fantastic do you guys like this colony I don't know I really love my algae colonies of course the fire nation my fire ants the golden Empire the yellow crazy ants who've been through so much my black crazy ants the dark Knights who have went through no drama they've been completely easy ants to keep of course I love all the new colonies that are blooming guys wait till you guys see a Vista and the bobbleheads that colony has grown the Asian bullet ants I also love those are the the black panthers and of course the black dragons the we've lesser Weaver ants as well love them love all the colonies but right now I am really obsessing over these Titans these Asian Marauder ants oh you guys are just so supportive thank you so much / Petra Tom thank you for your super chat polka partum depression again Thank You Bjorn Wahlstrom thanks so much for your super chat Nathan's nature TV thank you yeah I really appreciate it a lot someone asks how long do they live to be honest we don't actually know how long most colonies live what's surprising is there's been very little research on ants and I mean there are thousands and thousands of species so even if we do we find something out about one species of ant it doesn't necessarily apply to all species of ants so research is really needed in terms of studying and so if you're one of those people who have super ant love do feel free to enter entomology and become a biologist and study ants that would be fantastic we don't know how long these ants live we really don't there is a study and a record of about 30 years that scientists have found that a queen LaCie Schneider was able to live almost 30 years can you imagine in a lot in a German laboratory so who knows maybe these colonies can live that long or perhaps longer but what we do know is that these colonies are poly more polygynous meaning the colonies can have more than one queen and we don't know exactly yet how these colonies start we don't know if say a bunch of pregnant Queens come together and they found a colony cooperatively which is known as play of mitosis we don't know if say Queens leave the nest and then mate and then return to the nest we don't know actually we don't know if these Queens can mate in the nest and then they branch out which some answers some ants do like army ants it's a turn it's a form of reproduction called branching so we don't know how long they live let's hope they live long this colony in particular has six Queens so even if we lose one we've got others yeah thank you guys again for all of these super chats really appreciate it for those of you who are new to these live streams super chats are donations from you guys the viewers and they're totally not necessary to view the videos but I do appreciate the token of kindness from all of your ant loving hearts guys mm-hmm okay so someone asks a question which I get every single video every single post oh wait there's a super major on the screen before I get to that you can see it right on the corner I wonder if I can Circle it is it possible to circle here for those of you who don't know or can't see it I don't know why you wouldn't be able to see it because it's just right there this super major is right here yes do you see it she's huge she's been deployed guys it is fantastic I love them aren't they beautiful now what's amazing is these super majors aren't the most common in a colony when I saw them moving in I think I only saw one or maybe two huge super majors in the colony but now that I'm feeding them a lot and a lot of protein I'm hoping that the colony starts to produce more super majors because these super majors are very nutrient costly they require a lot of protein to make I mean if you can just imagine if you look at the miners imagine how many miners it takes to create a super major I mean biomass wise right so they are they are nutrient expensive for the colony but I think the key is just to keep feeding them as much as I can as much protein as I can and eventually they will i'll see more of them in the colony so for those of you who are keeping ants that are polymorphic which include ants like fire ants some species of pagano mirmix of course camponotus carpenter ants are very polymorphic if you want to see your supermajors in your colony be sure to feed them well give them lots of protein this will also lead to production of the reproductives the elate queens and kings I'd also like to shout out a good friend of mine his name is Miguel say hi Miguel hey guys what's up Miguel is here and he's a representative from xsplit who is allowing us to livestream like this if you've watched our preview livestreams they were very amateur in production it was basically just from my cellphone but now that I've been able to work with the great team at xsplit I'm we're able to stream using my SLR camera camera that I used to film the ant videos do you guys see the ants okay eventually when I change location which I'm planning on doing uh we would like to stream in 4k so you guys can get super good with the details by the way are you guys liking all of the latest videos that are all shot and uploaded in 4k it really is a different thing now if you watch our latest videos I think for the past month and a half you might notice that you can see all details now of the ants you can see all the neat texture of their exoskeletons you can even see which ants have parasites which is crazy to me and yeah I apologize if some of you guys are getting laggy images for the video I'm actually streaming from my place in Manila and internet isn't so good here but again as I said I am looking to buy another place actually to expand the space for for these ants and this new place will have much faster internet yes someone says have you ever thought of making oh it's so hard it's so hard - have you ever thought of making a tank for city ant life like public path and just put some junk on the floor like everyday items you would find they could feed on half a burger and donut actually yes I was I was originally thinking of creating literally a miniature room like for the dark nights because the dark nights the black crazy ants are very notorious domestic ants like ants you would in a home in almost all tropical countries I've been to so I was thinking why not create a setup which is like basically designed like a kitchen table or like you know a kitchen countertop or something and literally just drop burgers and fruits and spill some coffee you know things like that I was thinking of doing that and perhaps I may in the future once I get more space first mm-hmm oh yes another thing another thing I wanted to address is a lot of you guys were saying and bringing up the termites who here wants to know about the termites because every single video I upload every post I make people bring up the termites yes see so a lot of you guys want to know about the termites so an update on the termites for those of you who don't know what we're talking about if you watch our video ants versus termites basically a termite nuptial flight was happening in my ant room and some of these kings and queen termites were falling into my aunt setups and I was able to film them trying to pair up while ants were hunting them down it was a crazy suspenseful end video and in the end I ended up saving a breeding pair that ended up conjoining and essentially termite marrying and so the update on them is I wanted to keep them so I've placed both king and queen termite in a test tube full of like decaying wood some rolled-up cardboard paper and some cotton III have had no experience on starting a termite colony but that's what I did I've put them in the dark and one thing I haven't done is I haven't checked up on them often because I have tried keeping termites in the past and I was able to get the termites to lay eggs but as soon as I brought them out into the light I brought I brought them out into a fluorescent light to look at them and I could see the and I could see the eggs but when I put them away a couple days later the termite pair died so I don't know if that species happens to be light-sensitive so I'm very scared to check up on them if I ever will check up on them I'll like really dim the lights cuz I don't want to lose them guys but trust me I am keeping them in the dark safe I am peeking at them every now and then and it does look like they are still alive so crossing our fingers hopefully everything will work out and the ant Channel will have a termite colony all right so that is that that is the that is the update now I wanted to show you guys something else that I was able to film after keeping these ants for a total of one week there are a few things that I learned about these ants well first of all as soon as they moved in they began relocating the brood to new areas of the nest they continued digging throughout olympos here which is great if you look there on the hill you'll see a line of ants moving the brood they ended up moving just under that castle figurine which is neat it's cool to know that the ants are actually finding a purpose for that castle now this is what the nest looks like when we're not filming it's very condensed there's a lot of condensation and it's very humid inside and excuse me the reason why that is is because the tops as you saw in the video are covered with filter wool Asian Marauder ants want extremely humid and low air circulating environments here's a picture of what an Asian Marauder ant natural habitat looks like now if you look the ground is constantly wet even when it's not raining the soil is always damp and because these rain forests these South Asian rain forests are so thick it breaks the wind so there's very little air movement in their natural habitat um it helps the ants stay moist and as you can see here they've created those cool barricades and tunnels to and from food sources and having moist soil around helps them and it really suits their lifestyle especially because they're always trying to create new barricades new tunnels and these ents generally love their environments damp so this is why Olympus is kept damp I've actually had to wipe the glass for this live stream so Olympus is designed to replicate their damp low winds natural habitat so I've learned that they love that another thing I've learned is that they must keep eating every single day as much as they can and the reason why they need this is because as mentioned earlier they've got a huge worker force to feed especially the super majors and the Queen's now they love their protein sources and some seeds but they don't like sweets or sugar water and I do believe that's because they do have a high demand for protein to feed these super majors like this one here as you can see that's quite a large ant can you imagine the amount of protein needed to create that aunt from larva stage and to sustain it to keep it alive like it this ant requires extra energy than say a miner because it needs to be strong enough to carry that huge head and to you know use those very powerful jaws so these super majors are very nutrient expensive for the colony and of course the Queen's which are constantly laying eggs in this colony you have six egg-laying Queens they require a lot of food so I make sure to feed these ants well every single day in fact these ants I would say eat as much or if not more than my other super colonies now here's a picture of a colony of trap-jaw ants who were actually moving their brood out of their nest because Asian Marauder ants were invading them they were actually invading this trap-jaw ant nest so these Asian Marauder ants are so hungry they will leave their nest to go and hunt other ants and their babies Marauder ant actually means one who roams from place to place making attacks and raids in search of plunder so whoever had named these ents marauder ants knew about their lifestyle of being Marauders and so these ants don't just forage they really go out they leave their nest and they do a mass sweeping of the rainforest floor of all protein that they can find insects frogs lizards you name it they will eat it other ants they will burrow into tunnels of termites they will just eat they'll even eat earthworms they love earthworms these these ants and they need that valuable protein again to feed the supermajors it's really great so that's another thing I've learned about these ends these ants according to Wikipedia even and even among the ant keeping community they are notoriously difficult to keep any one that I know who's ordered these ants from outside of the outside of their natural habitat they've died they haven't lasted long I do know someone who has kept these ants successfully in an in a country where they don't exist and it was because they were able to sustain them in they set up much like Olympus here which was completely enclosed it wasn't open to air and they happen to do well of course on this channel we don't support or condone you order ants outside of your country only because it's very ecologically dangerous so if you can imagine ordering some fire ants from Southeast Asia and say you live in Europe and they escape or say the Queen starts producing reproductives and they go out and they mate even if you're in a country where it's you have winter and you don't feel like the ants would survive I have so many stories where ants have survived indoors and they've become invasive including black crazy ants they've survived indoors and they can completely wipe out native species they can displace native species so it's really bad news if you want to keep ants and can't find any Queens of your own I suggest you visit our website and Canada home we have a page called called the Gantt project under Queen ants for sale and you can there you can find people who are selling ants in your city so hopefully you can find local and keepers who can sell you local ants that they've caught from your area so you don't have to worry about any kind of like invasion or ecological destruction and it's it's really great our ants colour-blind please answer well we actually don't know if ants are colorblind we know they can't it's speculated that ants cannot see red light again we don't know if that applies to all species or just some and this is why some people keep red film over there ant farms because it helps the ants feel like they're in the dark but you can still see them so we actually don't know some ants I find have better vision than others ants with good vision include Weaver ants I find Weaver ants have very good vision maybe that's because they're always above ground and they need to constantly be seeing things around them they live in the trees right by the way thank you guys for all these super chats again thank you I appreciate it Sarah Huffman who donated 19 USD again thank you chase Joe joins for your $50 super chat appreciate it so much thank you so much for those of you guys who are joining us we are going live here in Olympus watching these polymorphic Asian Marauder ants known as the Titans eating and if you look there look at that super major isn't that just beautiful and look at her guest er her abdomen her abdomen is so extended meaning she's been eating very well her social stomach is so full I find these super majors also are great at acting as live storage the super majors tend to be what are called replete s' which means the miners gorge these gorge themselves and feed these super majors and these super majors store all of this regurgitated food in their abdomen and they keep them there kind of like a food bank in case food is scarce so that the colony can have a constant sub by of nutrients it's really great Nature has designed these ents to really survive regardless of you know safe food famine or if there's a flood and it's hard for them to find food Wow look at them look at those ants go oh is that super major biting okay that supermajors just patrolling the area at the moment but perhaps we might see it start to bite and it's like a one giant can opener on its face basically it will really tear at that cockroach it's really awesome one of the reasons why it's advantageous to bring body parts of the cockroaches into the nest is because inside the nest it's a lot more moist and the food doesn't dry out as fast so that's it when someone asks oh it's hard to see your comments yeah feel free to ask I'll try to see I'll try to answer any of your questions but right now it's all moving so quickly thank you so much Brava Kumar for your mm I know that Japanese I don't know what that currency is but thank you so much ravish Kumar I appreciate your super chat means a lot to me as I mentioned before my channel does not rely on sponsored videos thank you so much Wallace for your 5-pound super chat don't I don't rely on sponsored videos I mean what could I endorse really anyways like pest control chemicals no right I don't rely I really rely on your your support you guys viewing the videos and you know I just had a meeting with my partner manager at YouTube and the YouTube team here in Manila Philippines are just blown away by the support you guys show from around the world for these ants it really is phenomenal I can't believe how supportive you guys are of this edutainment Channel I never imagined we would ever reach over 2 million subscribers which we hit just maybe a month thank you guys so much I really appreciate it oh thank you so much - who is this - derpy who just donated 50 Hong Kong dollars thank you thank you for that support but again yeah thank you for the support guys it just it's you guys fuel this channel you guys are the lifeblood of this channel as long as you guys keep watching I will continue to to create these videos each video guys takes me approximately four to five days of work so literally once the videos up I'm already looking at all eight of my colonies to see if I can film something to create a story from for you guys week by week and I've had to upgrade my equipment at first I started uploading and editing with a laptop and then that laptop kind of broke down because the video files were becoming so big when I upgraded the camera and then I bought another laptop which was able to edit these 4k videos which I eventually graduated to but then that laptop broke down because it couldn't handle the amount of work needed to create the 4k videos so I had to create a very powerful desktop to edit the videos so now it's a lot easier I'm editing in case you guys were wondering I'm editing out of a I nine desktop computer rog computer and i'm shooting my videos out of a Canon 1dx using a 100mm macro lens and I'm editing using Sony Vegas one of you guys just asked do I have a job well actually my job would be youtubing I I run four channels some of you guys might not know I have a daily vlogging channel I also have a comedy channel and I do have a music channel as well and so I do that and as well I run the ants tour ants canada.com by the way if you guys want to get into ant keeping be sure to visit and we sell all sorts of and keeping products it is not a merch store like a lot of youtubers have a merch store right really know that and Canada calm I my dream for it was to be a place where people could rely on real and products produced by and keepers and not like the novelty products which are out at like toy stores right now like gel farms and that stuff which are not good for ant colonies for those of you who are serious in getting into and keeping I suggest you guys check out s Canada calm years of experience went into the design of those ant farms and a lot of you guys already have those ant farms thank you so much appreciate the support all the funds that we earn from the store helped us do more research on creating better products for and keeping because I feel like and keeping can be just as big as keeping aquariums in my opinion I mean look at this live stream how many of them are tuned in right now right now you guys are oh all 3,000 say over 3700 of you are tuned in right now which is amazing and every week you guys hundreds of thousands of you are watching the videos the videos are often trending in various countries around the world like ant love is so strong I feel like eventually one day people will accept ants as beautiful creatures to keep in the home in setups just like aquariums and like lizards and her herbs for those of you who keep reptiles and even tarantulas and that sort of thing that is my dream uh as well as a lot of n keepers that hopefully and keeping will be mainstream and by the way you guys are spearheading that entire movement by watching this channel thank you so much yeah for those of you who are just tuning in now thank you we are live streaming from Olympus this here is a six Queen polymorphic super colony of Asian Marauder ants that you guys have called the Titans and wait what are they dragging around there is that a piece of oh man they're dragging body parts around already it's amazing they've cut it up I guess that's I guess that's what the super majors are therefore they're starting to cut up the pieces and take them back to the nest I wonder if we could look at where they're going here I'm gonna try to move this camera right now and see if we can have a look at okay so they're headed somewhere behind that wood I don't know if you guys can see that see that's where they're heading into that hole and there's another super major right there right at the entrance and look at that gaster so full she is so full of food it is wonderful so that is the entrance of the nest one of their entrances I do believe they've got several entrances and now that we're at it let's look around the kingdom right now let's go around Olympus shall we so we have of course the ants eating there but there's another trail here of ants going underneath the castle right oh no wait underneath the castle and actually over here to a hole to the left right there they're coming out of a hole there as well Wow they've got they've got a great Network going on here they're also coming out of the castle door isn't that awesome the Titans are actually using the castle okay but they are heading where let's see let's go down where would they be heading oh they have found the cockroach that I dropped in the wrong section so these ants are getting the double meal right now awesome very very cool see them there they're working on that second cockroach that I dropped earlier good I'm glad they're eating actually I want these I want this colony to have all the food they can get all right um and I wanted to show you one last thing that I find is really cool now if you look here if you look to the bottom you'll see a cool addition that I've done for this ant colony and that is I've added what's called a decal if you watch this colony here you'll see the terrarium the terrariums actually covered the soil part is covered with a dark sort of film and you can see it says the Titans there and Olympus on the right it's called a decal so I've printed the ants flags and the ants kennel logo they're even their names you can't really see it because it's really dark but this decal peels off and it allows me to keep the soil portion dark so that hopefully one day soon the ants will burrow next to the soil and we can film their chambers because I'm curious as to what the chambers of this species look like now where did I get these this decal they are an awesome company that happened to be family of mine based in Toronto they're called wall euphoria so guys be sure to follow them in on Instagram they're called wall euphoria and on Twitter wall euphoria they have a website which is launching officially in a couple days and they can create decals for your end colonies if you have a name for your end colony you can even have them print it they can print anything there in fact they can even create red film if you would like to have your aunt's your ant farms covered in red film I'm hoping to partner with them actually for promo maybe perhaps for Black Friday or Christmas where we can include red film in the packages or possibly even ant wall art who knows but do check em out they're called wall euphoria all right it looks like they've even deployed some majors on this to this second cockroach isn't this amazing look at how awesome these trailing highways are I love this so much yes all right all right do you guys like this colony what do you guys think isn't this colony pretty amazing someone asks do ants have lungs I believe ants have sphericals so those are like basically tubes which run into their body I believe around their guest er and they're essentially like I guess they're like ant lungs right it's really fantastic yes so someone says oh that was a great comment there let's see these your comments are just coming in I'm not complaining it's amazing you guys are so engaged and as interested as I am in this so marauder ants is the Asian version of army ants only three times smaller because their use they're used to what pale aging right oh okay so someone mentions that Asian Marauder ants are kind of like Asia's version of army ants I would say so perhaps because I mean they have said they're very similar right if you're talking about army ants of South America you're referring to ants belonging to the genus a Catan a lot of similarities they're nomadic the only thing that's different I would say first off right off the bat is that Asian Marauder ants are not 100 percent nomadic they do stay in nests and they will move nests if their nest conditions aren't ideal like if the soils dry out they will definitely move but Eket on army ants from South America they are constantly on the move and what they do is they create things called bivy wax or a Biv 'ok and what it is is they'll find a cavity and they'll they will make that their temporary camp before moving on and I think that's why they're called army ants because they're kind of like an army raid you know that set up camp and then they move on so that's how they're different but they do have a lot of similarities one thing they're very polymorphic both ansar Akutan have crazy huge super majors with very menacing teeth so perhaps yeah maybe Asian Marauder ants are like the Asian version of of army ants now if you want to read up on some amazing literature on this species of ant I suggest you look up mark Moffitt's best-selling book called adventures among ants and he's got a huge section on these Asian Marauder ants and he's even been to the Philippines to study these ants and they happen to be among his favorite actually dr. bugs which he's commonly known as Mark Moffitt a good friend of mine by the way is a very famous entomologist very famous ant scientist and he's written books about it he's guested on several TV shows and all of that you might know him and he's taken some great photographs of this species of n so if you want to read more about Asian Marauder ants be sure to pick up adventures among ants all right so it looks like we have about eight minutes left to this live stream I'd like to thank you guys so much for tuning in now if you guys are just tuning in now you can watch this live stream it'll be uploaded on the channel just as a normal video so you can re-watch all of this and goodness I'd like to quickly thank Miguel here from xsplit thank you so much Miguel for helping no problem he's been great at managing the different frames and shots and really helping us pull together a quality live stream for you guys ideally I eventually would like to get these live streams to 4k live streams which hopefully will happen soon and to make them 24 hours wouldn't it be awesome if you guys could just log on to your favorite and colony at any time and watch them anytime you want that is the goal and for those of you who've been saying that my aunt room is getting crowded you're absolutely correct I'm actually right now doing some home shopping to get a place just for the ants believe it or not it's gotten to that level where I'm shop home shopping for the ants so I might have to relocate the anti verse the ant room to a new place and this new place will be will have fast internet so there will be no dropouts and all of that so you can look forward to that how I'm gonna be moving some of these setups like the fire nation's Sava de fuego and the golden Empire's has handed El Dorado I have no idea I will just have to think about that I'll ship him in through helicopter I don't know yet but again thank you guys so much for the support without you guys watching and tuning in every week to listen and watch these epic stories of ants this channel would not be where it is today and I am eternally grateful every single day of my life I really appreciate all the ant love you guys show also appreciate how kind of an audience the AC family is I don't know if you guys have seen the fandoms and like communities of some other youtubers like some friends of mine they get it really bad and a lot of times some people are nasty but for some reason the AC family is just 98% like kind you guys are funny you guys are inquisitive and intelligent and it just it makes my day seeing you guys really engage in the polls and leaving your comments and suggestions and whenever we have problems giving your recommendations on how to solve these problems a lot of you guys are experts in fields that I might not be expert in for example the keeping of shrimp some of you guys have really helped me out and for that I am eternally grateful for the AC family thank you guys so much mm-hmm so checking in at this colony it looks oh look at that super major coming in its carrying with it some miners on its body and on his head isn't that amazing so as I said in the beginning of this livestream these super majors will actually act as mounts we're like a bunch of miners will ride on the supermajors and then once they get to the food they will deboard the super major as if this super major was a big tank transporting all of those miners for some of you guys are asking will there be an episode today sadly no all week I was preparing for this livestream so I wasn't able to edit so every time we announced a live stream this live stream will count as that week's video hope you guys don't mind but hey you could watch this video again and treat it exactly like a 1 hour long video right without the drama that some of you guys complain about now about that a lot of you guys have been bringing up concerns that a lot of this is manufactured drama now to that I say one I cannot possibly direct the ants to do this or make this happen or dump a bunch of mites into a setup and cause the ants to be infected by mites that does not happen the only reason I've been able to create content week after week every 7 days is because the lives of these ants are really truly epic in every sense of the word there is always something to shoot a video about even the most uneventful ant video where not a lot of drama happens it is still packed with so much cool events updates and cool neat science that creating a half hour 20 minute long video is so easy I do not I I don't manufacture I tell the stories yes I write out the stories and and I do tell them in a stylistic sort of way but I don't manufacture the events that happen so the ants the ant videos that you watch on this channel are truly all basically reality episodes it's not scripted Wow look at that super major I am just amazed right now at the screen it is crazy before we log out we got about three minutes left I want to check on that other cockroach down here where did it go there it is oh wow they're having quite the feast today I mean it is a special location ready see family this is thousands of you guys are tuning in right now and this again this live stream will be up forever after this broadcast so be sure to watch again leave your comments all of that good stuff all right love it so much another reason why I love doing these live streams is because it gives you a taste or even all the ant videos in general is that it gives some of you guys a taste of what some of the ants are like in tropical countries I remember live in Toronto Canada I was born and raised there and I spent my whole life keeping ants from North America so you know the camponotus nova bar ken says and the Lacey is and the Formica there Tetra more iam immigrants which recently got a new scientific name by the way they're not called tetra Miriam species II scientists finally section them off as their own species so they're called tetra Miriam immigrants I've kept all of those ants and they are awesome but I was always curious as to what the ants of the tropics are like so this is also what motivates me to create these videos of the ants here in Manila Philippines where I moved seven years ago here in Southeast Asia actually it's a wealth of ant species it's one of the hot spots actually Philippines happens to be in that hotspot area where there are many many species events as well as Borneo which is which possesses a rainforest older than the Amazon rainforest so you know you can imagine the species diversity in that rainforest and I do have actually a video of live-streaming from Borneo on my channel so you could look that up as well we saw several ends and many other creatures like a tarantula in that lifestream oh it looks like their soil just fell Oh I've noticed here ants are really oh they're really excited guys about all of this food they're even causing miniature landslides look at that major coming out of the tunnel this is all fantastic yes all right guys so oh I believe it's yep it's 9:00 it's 9:00 p.m. here in Manila so all my aunt setups are on timers it is now nighttime now these ants will continue to feed through the night and all of this will be done by morning and likely they will have a tunnel built over this cockroach
