well good morning we are in Siem Reap Cambodia and I'm heading from one hotel to another so I'm all packed up I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel it was beautiful and the cost was fantastic I will definitely stay here again in the future I mean there is no reason not to it was a great stay the staff was wonderful you had good strong Wi-Fi here and the location was not bad it was a walking distance from a small park that had a pull-up bar in it so I could get my morning workout and there were several food carts that set up in the area so perfect to just grab a bite to eat very inexpensive in the evening but now we are heading into town so we're on the outskirts of town right now we're gonna go into town and see what Siem Reap looks like from that perspective we will also be discussing my cost of living for this month in Cambodia we're gonna head into what I believe to be the French quarter and Pub Street areas and we're gonna walk around there and check that all out so come with me let's have a fun day let's check out a new hotel and explore a little bit let's go [Music] let's grab a tuk-tuk to get us across Siem Reap five dollars [Music] [Music] the latigre hotel is just a few minutes walk from Pub Street and the night market in all the places you want to go and for 14 a night this is a really great little boutique hotel that has a real Cambodia feel to it [Music] foreign [Music] foreign let's take a look at the room and it has air conditioning you've got several outlets you've got strong Wi-Fi in here there is a lock box this particular room did not have a refrigerator but it did have a nice bathroom what a beautiful location let's go grab a bite to eat you really can't go wrong with the cost of living here in Cambodia I have now stayed in two different hotels both hotels have cost me 14 a day that's incredible I have had utilities paid for Wi-Fi bottles of water every day in the room cleaning services every day included with the room 14 a day take a look right here I'm gonna put up what that is for the month that's my cost of living for housing in a month do you know what my cost of living is for housing back in my home state I don't even want to say it but I'll just put it here so you can look at it that's what I would pay for cost of housing back in the States right now just housing not food not car not Health Care just to have a roof over my head no thank you [Music] let's talk about the cost of food what is it costing me for food here first of all back in the States if I got away with this back in the States for a month of food I'm doing good that's like eating a lot of your meals at home not going out that's just making it but here I'm looking at meals they are cost me five dollars and I want to show you the kind of meals that I'm getting too let's take a look at some of the meals that I've gotten today so that you can see for yourself the cost of food here in Cambodia I'm cutting my food costs in half from the states let's take a look s on is a fantastic little Japanese restaurant right here in Siem Reap Cambodia and close to Pub Street and Night Market oh thank you oh my goodness thank you so much oh that looks great thank you six pieces of hot crispy gyoza three dollars having great Japanese food like this reminds me of my home in Hawaii okay oh that looks good oh thank you so much oh my goodness look at that thank you very much that looks great udon noodles yes please and chicken or yakudon with it this set the udon and the oyakodon four dollars [Music] [Music] a great team over at usan I'll be back when I'm traveling something that's important to me is self-care taking care of myself I do my morning exercise and I try to eat healthy but I also like to get a massage about once a week I do a two hour tie massage while I was here in Cambodia I looked around and I found an amazing place the price blew me away considering how professional it was and it was a great two-hour massage let me show that place to you now the spa at CM reap this wonderful Spa is located very close to Pub Street and the night market when I first looked at it I thought this is going to be luxury this is out of my price range that was not the case at all one hour Thai massage was eight dollars two hours was 14. so I booked two hours which I love to do every other week it's very healthy and just look at the room not only did the room have a very professional look but it has its own bathroom and shower facility as well an outstanding two-hour Thai massage for 14 dollars [Music] a lot of people getting their afternoon walk in here is a variety of different musics that I'm hearing it's really interesting so from this side over here there's a place where people are bringing flowers in to a religious shrine and then to this side of me is a group of young kids that are playing like western style uh you know kind of like hip-hop music it's just kind of interesting the blend happening in the same park let's talk about health care costs my health care costs for this month that's probably the best way to put it because you think about health care costs they can vary depending upon what month it is whether maybe you get some dental work done like I did last month I got some dental work done in Thailand I also had some blood work done in Thailand so I had to pay you know about a hundred or a little bit more than a hundred dollars for that to get my blood work done whereas here this month I'm you know God forbid you know I'm not spending much on Health Care this month but for insurance purposes if I was back in the States I would have to have insurance otherwise if something was to happen everything would just be my whole savings would just be destroyed and that's going to cost me right there that's what that's going to cost me a month yikes on top of everything else whereas traveling I can actually get full health care insurance for right there every month and you just pay for like the year if you pay for the year you get a nice discount you know so that's something to think about you do get a much better deal on health care when you're traveling and a lot of the Travel Health Care just make sure you always check it make sure you know exactly what the benefits are that you're getting make sure that you know what the deductibles are and that it's covered in the countries that you want to go to hey just a little hint out there for the veterans no matter what country you're in ambulance and emergency room care is covered by the VA did you know that within 24 hours after going there's an online submission form that you re you submit all your receipts to the VA and you will be reimbursed for ambulance and emergency room costs anywhere on Earth [Music] what about cost of Transportation what about cost him a car you see I don't have a car here when I'm in Southeast Asia back in the States I would pay about this for a car some people in the U.S they're paying this for a car every month I was not okay but I paid a lot because you had insurance and gasoline and you had taxes and registration and a car payment and all that kind of stuff I was reasonable about what kind of vehicle I drove but when you add it all up it's still a big chunk of money here in Southeast Asia I'm not spending anything on a car but I am taking tuk-tuks here in Cambodia the tuk-tuks are costing me about five dollars anywhere on a go sometimes they they quote me four or they quote me like three but what I've learned and I mentioned this before when you come to Cambodia go to the bank and just get a big stack of five dollar American bills because you use them for everything here meals and tuk-tuks everywhere you want to go you just give them a five dollar bill and you're done thank you [Music] and I am simply not spending much money on tuk-tuks every once in a while maybe to get across town but really every day I don't spend money on tuk-tuks I just walk everywhere I go that's one thing about southeast Asia that I've mentioned before the idea of the 15-minute City the idea that everything you need is in 15-minute range that's happening right now in Southeast Asian countries and we're talking about doing it in the west it's already a reality in Southeast Asia whoo nighttime is very different here at the park all the families are out people let me let me show you real quick so you can kind of see behind me all these people have set up tents and uh they're kind of having little barbecues out here in the park it's very nice during the daytime when I come here for like my morning walk it's quiet there's hardly anybody but at night you got music you got food it comes alive [Music] I am going to start heading back towards the hotel and I'm going to take you to another place to eat so stick with me don't go anywhere I want to show you how inexpensive the food is here and it's fantastic I have to say it again if I haven't told you yet make Cambodia part of your Southeast Asian plans don't skip this country I found it to be friendly low cost the food is great there's a lot to see here it's a enjoyable stop and I want you to make it part of your trip here okay ah I'm glad that you spent some time with me I've really enjoyed talking to you about what my cost of living is here for a given month in Cambodia compared to what I would pay if I had stayed back in the States and we will talk more we have a lot more of Cambodia to see and we also have other countries that go to all year long we're hitting southeast Asia all year so come with me like And subscribe the video and let's enjoy southeast Asia together hey I'm getting hungry until we talk again aloha Taverna Bistro will keep you coming back you have Indian food Lebanese food all of it is two three dollars a dish my goodness thank you so much thank you that looks great thank you oh look at that thank you oh my God oh that looks good thank you so much a fresh Lebanese salad with chicken on it which was flavorful really good three dollars chicken curry even the rice is flavored delicious three dollars the fresh hummus two dollars fresh Pita just comes with it oh yeah [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] I wanted to show you this before the video ends this is the Outdoor gym area that I go to every day in the park for free it's quite busy in the afternoon and this is what a rainstorm looks like in Cambodia it is powerful just what I thought it was safe the Mad Dog of Siem Reap he's got my scent you see him he's got my scent he's been tracking me the Beast is a Mad Dog of Siem Reap tracking me through town like a predator
