sir we are live now please start sure let me share my screen yes sir we can see now okay thanks thanks for confirmation so hello everyone welcome to the today's session on thinking beyond the obvious the innovation story i hope you are doing good and safe at your place myself i am dr kushal patel so i am working as a test lead in the ibm storage system basically here we are responsible for ethernet networks and now i'm basically leading a test team for ethernet ethernet related aspect of one of the leading storage products for ibm so about me i mean i'm responsible for leading the functional test effort here for ibm flash system apart from that i also serve as an ibm master inventor with holding of around 130 patents and many many research publication around 100 plus research publication so that's the quick introduction about myself and with that uh we just get started with today's agenda so basically what is an innovation so many people many times people come to us and says hey i have to innovate but i don't know what is it i don't know how to do it so exactly what is an innovation so innovation is something uh which is the only way to win so this is the words of steve jobs so innovation is the only way by which a real engineer uh this is the only way by which the real engineers can make themselves relevant so what is it uh what what is uh what is it requires so is this something that needs higher education or highest grades in your engineering degree the answer is no is this something that needs a phd the answer is obviously not uh is this innovation is something that needs highly equipped laboratories the answer is mostly not because again the it is dependent on what type of field in which you are innovating if it is related to physical chemistry then you may probably required a laboratory with some equipments but for the software and the related artifacts for the related innovation areas you probably don't need any in any laboratory equipments to to make an innovation so what does it needs is that something that needs a different mindset the answer is yes this certainly needs a different mindset and thinking and challenging beyond the obviousness so that's that is a major key thing that is required for the innovation that we should be able to think out of the box and we should have the capability we should have the mindset of the mindset of challenging the obviousness so in the next subsequent uh slides we'll discuss how do we how do how do we make ourselves habitual to think beyond the obvious and to challenge the obviousness so this is what the innovation is all about so not always the innovation can be a patent it need not to be patent all the time so there can be if we want to classify uh the innovation there are two major categories in which we can classify it one could be uh it could be a discovery or it could be and the innovation so discovery is something that that is already known to the world but that is something which is new to you let's take a simple example um anything which we have discovered in our base job could be a discovery and this could be an innovation for for us i mean if i don't know anything and if i if i'm trying to do it in a little different way and that is helping me out in my day's job that is certainly an innovation for me just to give an example here when i was in college i used to memorize the index of the each subject basically in our time we we usually had the patterns of the unit and each unit in this in the subject had a particular mark weightage associated with it so what i used to do is i used to remember the uh the index of the of that particular unit and when i i don't know the exact answer of the particular question then i i used to memorize that from which unit it is from and based on that i used to i used to make the contents about the background and try to score at least one or two marks in for that question even if i don't know the answer i mean that was my own style i don't know whether i have really gotten one or two marks for that but that's something which i tried new and which helped me to at least write an examination in my university uh university papers so that can be uh that i can think as a discovery the other example could be uh again when i was doing my engineering uh from pune university so we generally had two types of books available one was a local author textbook uh the content was really really less uh in that in those textbooks however the other type is a reference book a reference book where i mean at that time reference book but too heavy to digest so i made a work around there so i used to get the figures from uh the reference book and try to elaborate the contents uh in my own word so that helped me at least getting understanding of how the reference book figures are how to elaborate uh the contents from figure and that helped me a lot while writing the examination variable and scoring more and more so can this be patented the answer is obviously not but this is certainly helped me scoring more so this is an innovation from my angle so this is certainly a discovery this is not something that i have alone did it uh in the world there there could be many people who are doing it but i have done it uh in a different way for at least myself so this could be a discovery for me so that would classify uh as part of the innovation the innovation could be anything it could be any new thought which is stroke in our mind getting a familiar to any any new thing like uh learning new technologies so nowadays uh latest technology technologies uh cloud 5g ai so learning a new technology getting familiar to that could be uh could be a new discovery to us it could be a new process or it could be a new new thing a new method that we have learned which makes our life easy so it should make our life easy it is a main mode of having a new discovery and making a new innovation essentially the second category which we could certainly think of here is it could be an innovation innovation has to be a different completely different thing and completely new thing to the world so the major uh the the major thing for the innovation here is uh it should be new to the world and it should have a thought which should be novel worldwide it could be uh it could be anything it could be related to a bit uh it could be related to a product it could be related to a feature or it can be a process which is not thought by anyone else so not thought by anyone else yet is one of the key thing about the innovation so we have to think out of the box and we have to think about the new ways of solving the problems which anyone is not done yet so that's the basic key thing about innovation so it need not require us to to do the physical experiments all the time and to to do a lot of complex uh complex thinking all the time so what does it mean how do we think about the innovation so that's the that's the next bigger thing which comes to our mind so how do we think about uh the innovation how do we innovate so is there any formula for it and how do we do that so the answer to the formula yes we have a formula for it so it's not a straightforward mathematical formula that we can we can plot and we can get the get the innovations uh flowing through across it but there is a defined formula by which we can we can at least try to try to think innovatively and we can train our uh trend ourself to think about the innovation and if we apply these uh these learning into our day's job then certainly we uh we certainly get uh some of the innovations out of out of our mind what is that formula so sustained innovation contains uh there are multiple factors of this sustained innovation one major thing is uh thinking beyond obvious you should think beyond the obvious questioning the obvious always we have to leave the question like why why it is like this and once we start questioning the obvious will try to get more and more information and more and more data points about why the things are designed like that and that is a baseline where we start collecting the information about the existing existing technologies or existing available arts on which we we can certainly leverage the existing available ads to make more sensible items out of it the next major thing which i certainly think here is tapping the trades so to make the innovation to get the new novel uh novel products or novel features or novel processes we should trap the trains because it is equally important that uh to grow as an inventor or innovator we should know that what are things are already available into the market or what are the technologies that are already that are already available we can certainly use them uh as a background references and we can we can create more sensible things out of it uh if you know them already what all things are already available available today so there is no point basically uh reinventing the field uh hence it is equally important that uh it is equally important to know that what are the latest trends in the market and we should we should try to keep our focus on the latest strains that is one of the equally important point here which i wanted to mention that we should keep the latest trends in our mind so that we can we can think about it we can think about the future and we can make it better so that's the uh that's the key thing that we have to uh we have to keep in our mind the next major thing comes here is knowing our subconscious mind so it is being said that uh the subconscious mind is a thousand times powerful than the the conscious mind so and then the subconscious mind is most of the time is under utilized so let's take a common example here of uh when we learn driving when we learn to drive a car when we were learning it we pay hundred percent attention we we pay very very con we are very very conscious while driving it because our conscious mind was driving the car but when we acquired the driving skill our subconscious mind learns to drive the car and then we don't need to pay full hundred percent attention or hundred percent hundred percent of our conscious mind while driving the car because that is a skill which is learned by our subconscious mind and when we when we get habitual of it then it doesn't take a lot of efforts like uh it where uh when when we learn when we try to learn about the driving so that's how this subconscious mind and conscious mind works um works in the human body the same analogy applies for the innovation as well so when we when we start it when we start thinking about the obvious or when we start challenging the obvious it might it might think you might think that this is a difficult or no this needs a lot of lot of attention all the time but that will not be the case when we uh when we train our subconscious mind uh to do it the same analogy applies for innovation as well so once you know how to challenge the obvious and trend your subconscious mind the ideas will uh literally start flowing because your subconscious mind will start challenging the obvious in the background without knowing you so that's the power of the subconscious mind so training the subconscious mind is equally important in this uh in the sustained innovation so let's uh take an exercise here maybe this is a quick exercise we can do so if you can see this this picture so there is what is in problem in this field in this picture so if we can really see it we will know that we are not able to identify on which side the arms are the glasses are there but at least i am not able to recognize on which side the arms are the frame arms whether they're towards me or they're towards the opposite side i'm not able to [Music] get it properly from this this image so this is an ambiguity and the ambiguity is a genesis for the innovation because as you are seeing in this figure we are not able to recognize the we're not able to get the exact figure or exact picture of the lens and we are confused that where whether the answer on our side or they are on the opposite side it could be it could be on my side it could be on the opposite side or it it might be the possibility that one arm is on my side and other arm is on the on the other other side of the other glass so this is the problem finding the problem in the innovation is one of the very very important step than finding the solution so once we know the problem statement we can make n number of solutions to it but finding the problem is one of the key area where most of the most of the people are lacking to find the problem itself because once we know the problem we can we can find we can at least try to solve it and we can at least make some solutions based on our understanding of the problem but if you don't know the problem then uh what what we will solve then so that's the major key point so one of the major thing here is problem identification is the key for the innovation and once we have the problem then we can definitely try to solve it in a different uh different different fashions based on uh the individual's understanding okay so this is one of the uh one of the common common picture of a manhole why this manholes are round all the time have we ever thought about it so this is a very common picture which we usually see on the roadsides and and vancouvers are around all the time i mean have we ever thought about it why this manholes are not maybe of square or maybe a rectangle or a triangular shape so basically this is an obvious thing and we don't usually challenge this obvious because these from our childhood these uh things are like that only so have we ever thought about it why this manholes are round all the time so if we are then we are certainly on the on the right track to challenge the obviousness otherwise we certainly need to think about how can we how can we start questioning these um these common things in our day-to-day life so this is one of the common example and i i'm pretty sure that some of you have definitely know the answer of it but for those who don't know this is the answer so this is a round shape all the time because it can't slip through the smaller ropes and if we have say a square shaped manhole then there is always chance to there is always chance that it can it can slip inside so these are the reasons these are the these are the some of the common things that we have to start challenging in our day's job so that we can we can think about it we can start thinking about it our subconscious mind in background will start think of thinking about it all the time and that is the that's the main genesis when it start thinking about it and it starts collecting about the information and so that it can it can make some some reasonable thing out of it in the back of the subconscious mind itself so let's take a next example uh by this where the clock is uh turning clockwise all the time why it is not an anti-clockwise have we ever thought about it so since since childhood uh we have seen clock always uh does the clockwise clockwise movement but there is no anti-clockwise clock uh present in the in the world so why it is like that so have we uh have we ever thought about it the the answer is obviously no because at least i haven't thought about it uh till the time i have seen uh this slide from one of my mentors presentation and i thought that i i must include this in our presentation as well because this this certainly makes sense and this certainly makes ourselves to think so the reason is the sun moves from east to west and the shadow moves from west to east so on the earlier days when we when we use basically sunlight to derive the time then at that time the shadow moves clockwise from west to east and that is the major reason why the clocks are derived like that where the clocks are moving in the clockwise direction all the time so that's the that's the basic reason that we we generally don't uh try to answer ourself we just follow it follow it so that is something that we need to start challenging ourselves to make a sustained innovation or innovative mindset in uh in our self itself so next major thing which i certainly wanted to uh point out here is tapping the traits tapping the 10 traits is is a must so the change is the only thing which is uh which is a constant every time the change changes is a constant in that we we all know about it and the reading and keeping an eye of what is what is going on what disruptions are currently going on into the industry whatever industry in which you are working on it could be a pharmaceutical industry it could be it could be computer science or it could be telecom industry or anything but we are we have to keep an eye on ongoing disruptions in the in our respective industries so that will help us in two ways one is we will keep learning we'll make ourselves relevant to the technology all the time and once we know what i think what all things are available today then we can certainly think on top of that what better we can make so that's how this uh this innovation basically works i mean this is a basic basis for the for the innovation to start we have to keep a tap on the changing trends and technologies for example if i am working on a telecom telecom industry then i certainly make a watch about what is going in the 5g industry what is going in the 6g research and things like that so that i can make myself relevant to the technology in which i'm working on and it also helps me to visualize the future and visualize the things which are not available in today's world so that i can innovate them so we must know what is available in the tech today so that is very very important point that we have to make and how do we do that i mean it is always i mean it's it is uh very easy to say on pen and paper that we should uh we should keep an eye on the ongoing technologies but how do we do that so there are a lot of tools which are available which we can we can use to learn the things i personally use the new scientist dot com for learning the new things carter and idc they usually they usually publish the technical trends uh yearly so we can certainly keep an eye on that as well to see what all the trending technologies are are certainly certainly impacting us or what are the new areas new innovation areas in our art industry sector industry sector so this is mainly we have to be this is mainly because of to be ourself relevant today to the industry that's how uh we should start making the baseline about the innovation so what is the next once we know about it uh we know we have started thinking the obvious then the next thing is suddenly there are few human characteristics uh which we have to we have to you know make it into the practice while making the innovations and the patenting so first thing is the passion so it's not something that i can think about the new ideas forcefully it needs a passion to think beyond the obvious and to think out of the box it needs a certain type of attitude so the attitude of problem solving attitude of questioning the obvious attitude of learning so these are the important attitudes that we have to pursue if we want to become an innovator thinking of course thinking is a must then the entertainment entertainment is nothing but we must enjoy what we are doing i mean it's not like we uh we are not enjoying the research and still we are doing it then it's it's of no value so unless we start enjoying the thinking and starting uh starting to plot a new ideas then uh you will start enjoying it otherwise it will be very difficult to uh to make an innovation one of the most important point here is not to giving up it's not like overnight you will get a new patent idea or overnight you will get a new disruptive innovation so it takes time and it takes a lot of effort so i i remember my older days when i submitted my first patent application at ibm it got rejected i submitted five different ideas after that and all of those were rejected but never giving up is is a key thing here and uh when i when i then submitted next set of five ideas then at least they were written for the improvement at least i got at least it was better than the rejection and then then i got my uh first patent file so it takes multiple iterations it takes a lot of energy it takes a lot of a lot of patience that we have to make uh while uh refining the inventions finding it out finding the new new opportunities and it it is a repetitive it is a cyclic process basically it also involves the teamwork teamwork includes consideration of our teammates your co-workers are the participating students if you are doing a university research and contribution and the the mentoring mentoring is one of the one of the key key thing here which which i certainly want to emphasize on because every individual is a different and everyone works with a different mind then everybody's mind works differently and that helps creating a golden midpoints where the innovations are we can get some innovations from these golden midpoints so that's how basically it we have to we have to create it so it also includes a networking self-motivation mentoring mentoring is one of the key thing here because many a times it happens that we try to think about it but giving guidance and receiving the guidance is one of the very very important steps in the innovation so mentoring is must so this is all about how do we how do we start thinking about the innovation how do we start challenging our mind how do we start thinking beyond the obvious what are the other tips there are the tip number one importance of t in the innovation so many of us have been uh read earlier or know earlier that t-shift career growth in the uh basically the t-shift career growth so the same is applicable for innovation as well so let's take a simple example here for this t-ship uh t-shift career growth so we should also i mean we should have the broader knowledge as well as we should have the speciality and in-depth knowledge of at least one subject so that is the the t-shape t-shift career growth that we usually call as so here if we take a simple example maybe i do basically work in the computer networking area so we can just take an example of simple computer network where we are expected to know how the computer network works into it but this is not sufficient enough at the same time we should also have it is required to have in-depth knowledge of at least one key area which is playing an important role in the networking thing it could be a tcp ip or it could be anything else but we should certainly know one subject where we have in-depth information so that we can apply this information maybe to the same sector to the other sector and at least try to make some innovation out of it so that's where this uh importance of t in the innovation plays a major uh major role because once you have the broader knowledge and one one subject's in-depth knowledge then this in-depth knowledge we can certainly try to apply it to the peering technologies or to the other areas and see if there are any chances of probably innovation or not so that's the uh that's the tip number one the next major important thing which i would again like to emphasize is rendering is must it is it is there is no one like it is too good or too successful to have a mentor but certainly we need a mentor to guide us all the time so mentors helps a lot when it comes to the innovation i i still remember my my past days in the ibm when i was doing my mtech internship in ibm systems and uh at that time i was basically engaged in creating a tool on top of the operating system computer operating system so there are used to collect the information a few statistical uh that that i have to capture and i have i was making some information insights around that and the artifacts the collected statistics was not at all meeting my require my expectation because essentially i was expecting the data to be different than what it is actually returning me so then we went to my mentor who is who was a product architect in the same team and i have explained that this product is not behaving well it is not meeting my expectation at all i was expecting the behavior like xyz and it is not giving me that behavior at all then the architect came back to us and said that whatever you are thinking is not at all implemented in the operating systems job scheduler and what you're thinking could be a potential it has a potential of getting a patent out of it this is a new thought that you have encounter you have observed in uh in the current operating systems and then he gave his insights on that and he paul he helped us polishing the innovation idea and based out of that we got our first patent file so that's the that's the role of the mentor that he'll always ready to guide you and it is always important to to have a mentor in in our in your innovation journey so it and it also uh be on the river other side as well so once we grow as an innovator we should also have uh responsibility to grow our prodigies so it's always uh always helps to have a mentor mental relationship while you are on your innovation journey so this is a simple graph based thinking to find the ideas so let's consider that i mean once we once we get the uh get the information about the technologies our areas and whatever which uh whatever areas in which we are interested on then what how can we start thinking about the areas where i can find the innovation thoughts so that is yet another question we have to face while uh while this innovation journey so this is a simple graph piece thinking approach where this can help us creating a new thoughts and ideas and this will certainly work i mean uh in this graph based approach we have to basically select two domains uh one domain is on x axis and other one is on the y x and based on that we have to start plotting the attributes of each domain on their respective axis so let's take in simple example of the operating system computer operating system where let's say domain a will be a job scheduling or maybe the features of the operating system and the other domain which we can certainly take is a cloud one of the aspect of cloud one of the characteristics of the cloud could be a multi-tenancy let's take this as in characteristics one as a multi-tenancy and this attribute one would be any attribute related to the system operator operating system let's take an example of cpu job scheduling then when we came to these attributes and characteristics of each of these domain then we have to see the intersection points of these two here in our case this is a multi-tenancy plus cpu job should be so this is an area this is a potential area where we can get the new innovative ideas so it obviously it doesn't work uh 100 times but certainly many times we can get the ideas the novel thoughts in this region in our case it is cpu job scheduling plus multi-tenancy so here we can certainly think about the thoughts like how the computer scheduling should work how the operating systems job scheduling should work when we have multiple users like each user has paying a different cost and in that case how the job scheduling should work so this is the area where we can start thinking and we can get more this is an ipduck where we can there's a potential point where we can catch the um catch the innovations so that is how this uh this graph based thinking works in the uh in the innovation so not always all the time you will get the ideas that are painting table but certainly you will get a thought for food and we can certainly blend the blend the new ideas on top of that so that's the uh that's the uh graph base uh thinking style that that we have to follow together with at least areas where we can we can start thinking of where we we can spend our energies on so once we get this so it's not like all the time we'll get the ideas that are pretend table but uh at least we'll get some thoughts or some concepts which we at least try to apply it and try to get whether they can be patented or not so what things which we cannot which we cannot patent so thoughts certainly thoughts concepts abstract ideas and pure mathematics so we can't patent usually patent this of course there are exceptions to it but usually the yeah the ideas that are following into these categories which we cannot patent it out so the next thing could be the process is done entirely by human motor coordination such as dance routine we can't patent it out then the surgery the methods used for the surgery or it could be non-operable innovation so we can't certainly claim something which doesn't have the enough enough implementability associated with it so we should i mean we can't say that i'll go to moon or i'll go to mars we can't simply uh patent that out we have to make the concrete steps out of it how do we how do we get this done what all steps we have to execute are those steps are implementable enough we have to answer these questions ourselves first before thinking about i mean once we know the area once we know the uh the raw thought about uh raw thought in our mind then we have to answer these questions first before starting into the patenting journey so that's the that's the key thing which we certainly wanted to and i wanted to apply here so there are few patenting tips that once we know the idea what we should certainly do first thing write down your problem statement what problem you're solving because many times it happens that we try to solve the problem but there is no problem at all so if that is the case then in that case there is no require absolutely no requirement of having more innovation because problem itself is a hypothetical problem so in that case writing of the problem is one of the important thing this is the problem statement what problem we are solving we can suddenly expand anyone else's patent as well or anyone else's idea but our addition to that idea or our addition to that patent must be a concrete enough and must be must be it should be enough uh addition to the existing ad so that certainly we have to make concentration we can apply an existing idea to the new field but in this case it should not be the obvious one so like we can we can directly apply any existing idea from one technology to our other technology it should be uh it should be normal but it should be non-obvious non-obvious and novel these two are the keywords while uh while making our innovation and patenting journey so we can combine uh the existing things in the new in the novel way so in the software world there are many many platform capabilities that are available in the in the current technologies and if we can make a novel solution out of it then that certainly can be patented so don't do not have to implement your patent that is one of the key thing which uh many people are missing that if we are trying to submit a patent application or if we are trying to make our idea as a patent then we don't need to implement it end-to-end but it must be implementable it should be we have to give the steps that if we if anyone wants to implement it they should be able to do that but it is not absolute required that we should able to implement before claiming that patent so that is one of the important thing here we want to make our patent as general as possible because this covers a broader area uh and the broader infringement scope as well but at the same time we have to avoid the uh being it as a week because it should be concrete enough it should be clear enough to claim what exactly we are thinking so that and what our thoughts are so that it can be claimed and it can be preserved as uh in the in the form we want so that's the key thing here and we can certainly give an example uh in the patenting like what what we have to claim what could be the examples what would be the embodiments and things like that but the major thing which we wanted to emphasize is the key novelty which should be globally novel and it should be it should be non-obvious but that's the key thing and the key key patenting tips that uh we wanted to keep in mind while while selecting for a thought i mean it might happen that we we have came across three to four four thoughts but we don't know which is uh which is the most concrete one then the first selection criteria would be it should be novel and it should be the non-obvious one so that's the key thing in many of the patenting uh offices they have a defined criteria to grant a certain patent application so uspto basically uh looks for the utility value novelty and the non-obviousness certainly the utility value is uh the purpose the operativeness of the innovation or operativeness of the steps that you're claiming as part of your patent application the novelty and the non-obviousness so non-obviousness we have to be clearly uh we have to be very very clear about the existing arts versus our innovation what is our addition on the existing arts how they exist our invention is different than what are the existing ads that will be available in the market so all those things which we have to take care before submitting the uh the applications so if we based on all these uh this knowledge if we try to make a simple thought about it so this is one of my favorite example of the tearing storage this is a sample thought sample food for innovation for all of us so let's take an example here like if we have 10 types of we have different types of disks that are available in the market each of the disc has a different capacity and different price point and they have their own price performance and capacity characteristics and we categorize them as maybe a tier one tier two and tier three drives tier 1 could be the fastest performing drive fastest performing disk as this is the fastest performing it is a very costly and it has a less capacity associated with on the other hand if we go with the slower tier disks they are slower in their operation but they provide a huge amount of capacity and their comparatively less costly so we have to make this price point arrangement while making our decisions of uh selecting the disk storage for example let's take an example this modern cloud back-end services these provides the way by which we can move the data between these different types of disks based on the utilization for example if the data is being heavily accessed by the applications then it is certainly make sense that we should keep the data into the fastest performing location and when the application stops accessing it then in that case we should move the data from the fastest location to the slowest location that is a commonly uh commonly uh known as an storage steering where we move the data between the different types of disks based on their utilization so in this case so this look all fine but whether this is all this is not there are many many issues in this in this type of plane architecture where we move the data from the upper storage to the lower storage close to this docker storage bank based on the access count the practical example here was when the michael jackson was passed away so that time everyone started searching about him and suddenly the search engine engines crashed so why they have crashed one of the major reasons is the data about the michael jackson was located on the slower disk location because since that time no one no one knows that suddenly people will start searching about it and then so this was the pro one of the major reason one of the reasons why the search engine have crashed and when the data is being accessed so many time in that particular bit time window the the cloud backend services move that data to the faster steering location and when the data is on the fastest performing location and people have stopped accessing uh people have stopped searching about him because by that time it was already 24 hour 48 hours time time went then it's off again no use of moving that data to the fastest performing location so these are the some of the corner cases that we can certainly solve using uh by using innovative thinking like if the data is highly being used it goes up it if it is not being used it gets down there are lot many other things that we can do with that the other thing which we certainly wanted to i certainly wanted to bring it up here is movement of the data is not that simple every time we have to move from one location to other location and move back to the older location again so how can we minimize these copies so that is also one of the one of the interesting thought which we can think about and we can make n number of solutions to minimize this data copy operation or to make the data movement the conditional data movement and we can certainly think about it more and we can see whether if that is not already patented then we can basically claim it done on our name if if that is a novel and non-obvious thought so that's how uh this innovation basically works so out of all all of these exercises what we have learned so we have learned is sustained innovation needs thinking beyond the obvious questioning the obvious tapping the trends have missing the human attributes and the characteristics and know about your conscious mind and training your conscious mind to think about the innovation so that's the key mantra for the sustained innovation so major thing is we have to keep thinking keep thinking to find the solutions and to start challenging the obviousness i'm pretty sure if i can do it you definitely can do it so that's the overall summary of uh today's session that i certainly wanted to emphasize on so again this is as i as i mentioned earlier uh we have to tap the times we have to know what are things are already available even for this slide as well i have taken some of the reference lights from the uh from the other other references from some of my i'm from interest charts which i used which i generally refer to so certainly these are some of the references which i have made to make make these slides and overall content available to all of us so with that these are the some of the important slides uh imported important sites which i would certainly want all of us to refer to get the information about the technology and the latest trending technology so that we can start innovating and start thinking out of the box so with that i think uh here we'll go to the the question answers so if we have any questions then i'll certainly try to answer them uh in the in the limited available time so i have one question here so is innovation should be entirely a new story or some applications with low cost solutions can also be an innovation so this is a very good question so one of the very important point is innovation is something that should help you innovation is to help us it can be a low cost whether it is a low cost solution or it is a very high cost solution that actually doesn't matter it it should be new it should be new this is certainly a thing but we can certainly create our solutions on top of the uh the existing arts available let's see for example you have 4g technology available i'll give an example we have 4g technologies available we have say some of the healthcare technologies available we can certainly think about marrying them and see if we can create some best possible solutions out of it so that our next generation can be can get benefit out of it so that's how this innovation work so i hope i have answered your question so next thing is next maybe i'll jump to the next question next question i'll just pick uh how to make a patent to be implemented into a tangible and the product or service which can sell okay so while writing the patent application or writing while making the patents it is very important that it should be it should have some usability and it should be an implementable uh implementable design if someone wants to implement it they should be they should be able to implement it out and how to make a pattern to be implementable that is up to us once we claim the art on our name then it's our responsibility to uh if we want we can we can certainly get a tangible interface or we can integrate that into a patent or it is certainly an ip matter that we have to follow once we claim a patent on our name so i hope i have answered your question okay so let me uh jump to next question so does age of the person have any relation to the innovativeness i would certainly say age doesn't matter uh when it comes to the innovation because to be very honest i have seen people who have started innovation at the age of 60 and and they have they were masters in that on the other hand i have seen the people who have started started innovation at at the age of 18 or 15 and it actually doesn't matter that how what is our age uh while it comes to the innovation for my case i have started my innovation journey when i was uh 22 years old when i was doing my internship into this ibm ibm systems lab where i have started thinking about the beyond the obvious and uh started my innovation journey so certainly uh age doesn't matter here start it at any point okay so i think i have answered most of the questions uh i can see some of the questions which are uh being answered as part of the other questions so i'll not take uh take go through uh go through them at this moment so i think yes so most of the things are being answered from the questions so i would certainly want to make a point before we uh before we leave this discussion is there is a key mantra of the innovation that we should keep learning more more and more and keep thinking more so if you start thinking and we park these thinkings in our subconscious mind to and subconscious mind will do its own job and it will start thinking more and more what whatever food you have given to him and once you do that once we start following this practice innovation will literally start flowing and you will see the amaze results about the innovations and your innovation journey so with that uh i would like to thank all of you for for listening me for uh for around 1 hour now and wish you all the very best for your future innovation journey thanks a lot
