I like that it's a live audio recording; uncommon for a music video.
I was pretty impressed on the simplicity of the drummer using a newspaper as a snare. I've played percussion all these years and never saw anyone do that.
I love that the entire band seems to be just having a good time and singing a song. Such genuine enjoyment of making music is just heartwarming. :)
I picked up her album after seeing her on Colbert. I think she's brilliant with Damien Rice and I was willing to try out her solo stuff. There are a couple good songs, but it seems rather uninspired on the whole.
Hehe i've been in that pub.
Lovely song
I'm so emotionally unstable I practically teared up from this song.
From wiki- Hannigan emits "a moan of delicate strength, and stirring warmth and humanity", describing her style as that of "plinky plonk rock", a genre coined by a friend. She performs using "broken-down, wheezy old instruments", assisting her band members in the transportation of this equipment. Her blog posts are noted for containing recipes for baking cakes.
She got the Colbert bump when Stephen randomly saw her on youtube and invited her on. :]
So beautiful, and a reminder as to why I hate recording studios so much. They're great for "crafting" but the life and energy of music played together is so often sacrificed.
Lisa is pretty cool...thanks for the link!
Unfortunately, this is the only song of hers I like.
