hello everyone I'm here with Lydia Micawber from Slovakia and Lydia is a language mentor she also has a website language mandarin calm and Lydia helps people mainly in Slovakia to learn foreign languages but she's also the organizer of the polyglot gathering in in Bratislava and the event took place this year is also gonna take place next year if I'm right if I'm correct right okay Lydia great to have you here and yeah tell us a little bit about yourself why is it so great to be able to speak all these languages what does it mean for you to be a polyglot yeah thank you very much for for inviting me to the conference and also for this interview well I love using languages every time I can in my life and currently I speak seven languages seven foreign languages which I love to use whatever I can and my personal way of using them which I know you are very familiar with is traveling and so for example this summer I I took I took the trans-siberian train from Moscow to Mongolia and I use the Russian all the way there I also use Russian increased and Kazakhstan and then I moved over to Canada where I use some French in the Quebec area and then I I jumped over to Mexico and use some Spanish so for me that that way of traveling is just the best because you really connect with the people you can you know about everything that's going on and for me it's a magnificent way how to stay in touch with the language and use it at the same time exactly well I know I know that feeling very well so I can only agree on that from the 16th to the 25th of October that's this month we you're gonna talk at the at the lingua Hagar's online polyglot conference and your talk is gonna be about it's gonna be on the 17th by the way and it's gonna be about the Gold list method right can you tell us a little bit more about what that is how does it work what is it I'm really I'm really excited that I can present this method to you because I love spreading awareness about it is that a method that I developed it's developed by James a well-known polyglot in the polyglot community and basically means using a simple notebook like this one for writing down list of vocabulary and rewriting them every two weeks or longer and it really seems almost miraculous that by rewriting the list of vocabulary you end up remembering 30% of all these lists yeah and you rewrite the 70% that you did not remember that it's unique that you did not put into a long term memory and this is what you do every now and then and and it's just rewriting and remembering words it's really it's really an amazing method isn't the best thing is yeah yes it's basically a way to train your memory so you do this instead of flashcards it's like there isn't family it's a very exactly it's a way to learn new vocabulary put it into your long-term memory and it's especially good for people who maybe do not like flashcards that much or they tried it there they doesn't work for them or maybe people who also use them but want to complement it with something else you know and this method is really simple because you're just right you just need a notebook if you know the know-how with which I'm going to give at the conference complete know-how then you can start using it the next day and it's there for you okay well sounds very good to have to be honest I have not very familiar with the method so looking forward to watching your talk on the 17th of October so then we all gonna watch Lydia so make sure you sign up below and then you will automatically get the email and be notified when Lydia is gonna talk okay Lydia thank you very much thank you and I hope to see everyone at the online conference thank you
