My big problem with Craig's argument is the fact that he's creating an exemption for God. To Craig, everything, the universe, quantum mechanics, time, the multiverse is subject to the question "Why is there something rather than nothing", except God. Why? Because no good reason. Because he needs the God-construct to answer the question, and wrap it in a neat logical box. But there is no good reason not to include God in the 'something'. "Why is there God rather than nothing?", is as valid and demands as much of answer as an eternal universe or eternal multiverse. There is no reason to treat God as something special.
I can't listen to Craig. Such a pompous windbag. I can tell he doesn't even believe his own shit, and love Krauss's other videos about him, where he shows screenshots of Craigs online store to show how disingenuous and only in it for the money he is.
William Craig is useless- he uses the same tactic as every other theologian there is- speak loud and fast, and avoid the question at hand.
Great discussion. When "Bill" stops debating the actual question and starts talking about religion he sounds like a complete idiot. None of his other "beliefs" have anything to do with the actual question either. As for Christianty being right and Islam being wrong on the nature of his "God" when you take into account the universe of 200 billion galaxies and 200 billion solar systems in each...absurd and ridiculous don't even begin to describe him.
The Sydney debate is here
"Bill" is even more childish than in Melbourne.
This is part two of this three night debate between Krauss and WLC. Originally, parts one and three were released at the same time, but for some reason the City Bible Forum didn't release this second video for a while. Professor Krauss's facebook and twitter were ablaze with people asking where the second video went, with a few people convinced that Krauss had requested the video be removed because he lost the debate, or performed terribly or something.
Obviously this was not the case, as it is actually impossible to lose to WLC in a debate.
Part one, I think, was Krauss's strongest performance. His opening remarks are devastating. The moderator in the second debate made me want to slap her shit.
The moderator is an idiot =)
Is it impossible to think that the universe* has always been here?
*When I say universe, I mean the whole shebang, not just the universe that we observe. Other realities, dimensions we don't fully understand, all these hypotheses and theories about the universe beyond the observable...
I couldn't help but smile when Dr. Craig mentioned Occam's razor.
Invoking a causeless, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, personal, God that exists separate from reality hardly seems to be the simplest possible solution.
