we've been here in the republic of georgia for almost a year now and we've definitely learned some things along the way so we'd like to share now some things that you should know before coming to georgia so you can have a more comfortable stay here tibilisi has its own version of uber lyft and it's called bolt so you just download the app it's used in exactly the same way as you would use an uber if you download the app before you arrive to the airport in tibilisi as soon as you get out of customs you can use that app the bolt app to arrive to the city and it's probably around 25 laurie be careful because taxi drivers of the airport are going to try to charge you more for example our friend the taxi driver offered 250 lorry to bring her to the city when i first arrived i paid her on 45 but if i had just downloaded the bulb app and taken bolt from the airport to the city it would have been 25 larry so it took me a couple of months to find out about this service called usa to georgia in a nutshell this company provides you with an american address so you can get your goods shipped that address when it arrives at the warehouse in the u.s they send it over here to georgia to one of their many branches across to b2c so depending on the item or the price your order may get stuck here at customs in georgia and then usa to georgia will send you instructions on how to pay the vat fee at a local bank and then you can go pick up your things after paying a small fee you will need a georgian tax number for that if you go to the office you can pretty much just get it in about 20 minutes give it a go see how it works for you i've put the link down below oh hi welcome back to the gringo nation i've been slow traveling the globe for around seven years now and now i wanna help all you digital nomad and expats through your own travel adventures nikki is with me here today and she's now gonna tell you about how you can get organic food sent straight to your doorstep here in tibilisi georgia so one of the best ways to get produce is from a company called soplidon they work with farms and local people from out just outside of tibulasi and you can order online and the interface is really easy to use if you have any questions you can send them a facebook message and they're really quick to respond they speak english they deliver the next day the delivery is free within tbilisi and the bang for your buck is really good it's all organic produce and they give you a ton of things you can also order homemade products like homemade jams local honey homemade ajika anything like that so it's all local it's all organic and it's really fresh and really delicious and we use it a lot so when you first come to georgia one of the first things you'll probably want to do is get a sim card so we are going to compare and contrast the plans that we use shampoo is better no b-line is better i use b-line i use mag-t so i usually pay between 15 to 20 laurie per month and depending on the plans that are available at the time that i buy them i can get between four gigs to 10 gigs per month i pay 20 lorry a month i do have to pay weekly so that's five lorry a week and i get unlimited internet when we're traveling most of the time i have service but there's a lot of times i don't have service when we're traveling i have service pretty much the entire time of course if you're in the middle of the mountains or something it might not be the best service but good service all around georgia so when i want to recharge every month i can go to the actual location of b-line which there's only like one or two in tbilisi but i can at least pay with a credit card there but during quarantine those are closed so i can pay at one of those many machines that you see around the city but i have to pay cash when i go there when i want to recharge i just use the super helpful magti app at the push of a button i get more unlimited internet for the week super easy if i were to do it all over again i would choose magtie we can conclude that magtie is best so are credit cards and debit cards widely accepted here in georgia that would be an enthusiastic yes i pay for most things with apple pay or even a debit card here in georgia but there are some circumstances where you will most likely need money so if you're buying something from a small business like a fruit stand or a juice stand you will most likely need money for that also if you hire a private driver to take you to another city you'll obviously have to pay him in cash apart from that you can pretty much swipe away here in georgia [Music] okay now we're going to talk about the level of english here in georgia mickey take it away so of course in georgia everyone speaks georgian and 99.9 percent of the population speak russian do they speak english i would say that at any like international retail shops or if you go into the malls there is always someone who's going to be able to speak english especially if they're like 40 years old or less so you can usually find someone who speaks english unless it's in a smaller store like a fruit shop or like a small vegetable stand but you're in georgia so you should learn how to at least read george and it can be really helpful we have linked below in the description a website that we both use to learn how to read georgian and it's really really helpful and we suggest it to you if you want to move to georgia if there's one thing that i say to anyone moving to a new country or a new city it's joining the facebook groups that are related to that city or country and there's various groups that cater to digital moments and expats here in tbilisi and in most of georgia i always like reaching out to these facebook groups before arriving to get a feel for what life is like in that country there's always plenty of people that have been living here for years and will be more than happy to help you out with any inquiries that you may have in fact when i was moving here i reached out to one of these groups and guess who helped me out i did i did that is most correct nikki helped me out and it's all been downhill from there let me tell you so i would definitely recommend you check out facebook groups i will link a few of them down below that i have used during my time here in georgia hey so give this video a like if you enjoyed it as it does help boost algorithm if you're thinking of moving here to georgia or even just visiting you should check out this playlist here with all of the info that i've managed to gather in this past year here and i'll see you over there
