well good afternoon a very warm welcome here to a little bit of a rainy liege best only age wrapped up against the cold michael woods rolling his way down the start round four saying what a start to his season well the riders really had many days like this so far this season they rolled out of the start then at 10 10 this morning [Music] big crowds despite the weather to greet the peloton 175 riders 25 teams and it wasn't long until they rolled out of the neutralized section to get the race underway no sooner had the flag dropped then the attack started to happen immediately riders trying to break clear and formed the break away and it took a little bit of time until the breakaway formed valverde is at the side of the road and it looks here like valverde is climbing off no alejandro valverde has abandoned liege best on liage with 103 kilometers to go in the team car for alejandra valverde once we go over the top of this climb then it is just a few kilometers to the coat of one and that's where this race really is going to start to bite as julian bernard now decides right there's a few riders freeloading in this group and he tries to extend the advantage and maybe prize two or three riders with him who are a bit more efficient to try and go ahead and take as much time as possible over the top of this climb then what problem here and this is is a gear date he just had a little bit of a tech problem there trying to get his feet back in the pedals no one giving him a shove or anything you'd have thought a fan would help him out surely eleven climbs on the menu today bernard on this little cobbled section now still looks efficient not even getting out the saddle just clicking his way through the gears attacks now he's decided he's going to try and this one out here here we go with the olympic champion 74 kilometers to go and van avermaet just tests everyone out a little bit he's obviously decided he's going to take this one on if he can over the top of the codelocked heavy and van avermaet is going solo mark's problem here looks like roman baday at the side of the road dade has a bike change not a big attack now on the left-hand side of the road the movie star team are coming out to play they no longer have valverde here so they are really starting to turn the pressure on and another attack from greg van avermaet and ava matt trying to go clear now another huge attack by the olympic champion well he's going on the aggressive streak today he doesn't want to leave this race to chance he knows it's one of those days tunnel can get accelerates again onto his wheel goes the astana rider and it looks like it's omar freili who joins up at the front now with can get de la cruz is looking for the team car those gears are all over the place and here it comes team sky with one of their last mechanicals of the season as team sky sixth tour de france wins since they started and de la cruz gets a new bike [Applause] he knows this climb better than most still we have no indication as to who's going to win liaise best on the edge it looks like batter gleam trying to go clear a bit of a move by him and immediately onto his wheel a counter-attack comes everyone looking around [Applause] and gilbert finally gives up the legs have gone four riders now at the front impe of mitchelton scott the velens of lotto sudal who immediately goes to the front can get a vf education first and the borah hansborough rider patrick conrad we crossed this final climb with 15 kilometers to go and meet van vloyton used it as her springboard literally a kilometer from the base eight seconds it's coming back kwikovsky takes off his final jacket alaphilippe is back at the front anna philippe's recovered let's take a look at this little bit of a slide oops one of the astana riders going into the field on the left hand side bit of cycle across [Applause] on to the final climb of the day 1.3 kilometers uphill velens decides to go belen starts the acceleration he knows this is the place to go and try and go for the race victory tim vellans has accelerated hard now for lotto soudal the belgian is going on the attack this is a big big move by tim valance [Applause] so woods followed by valence followed by fugal sang then ala philippe fulham valor philippe is vincenzo neberle on the wheel of nebulae is david formulo then roman baday david gaudu velen's is struggling to stay in the wheels barde unzips the jersey and here goes fugal sang attack of fugelsang allah philippe can't go with this one ala philippe working his way backwards and ala philippe looks to be in difficulty here adam yates is there adam yates trying to go across allah philippe is coming to a bit of a standstill nebulae is there this frugal sang woods and formula formula won that spectacular stage in catalonia where he was solo for the entire lapse of barcelona a few weeks ago here we go now with fugal sang woods and formolo three riders going clear over the top of the climb ala philippe is rocking and rolling all over the place adam yates alongside him with neverly and bardet they look around alaphilippe to do the work so it's a group behind but the three riders in the ascendancy fugal sang michael woods and david de formalo of italy [Music] and michael woods just cannot go with this such a shame the legs have just given out at the wrong time [Music] [Applause] frugal sanger's attack now fugelson goes clear he gets rid of uh david formallow a huge acceleration by the rider from astana yakov fugelsang is he finally going to win the race he's been looking for all season inside the final 13 kilometers it's time trial time look at the speed of him now he's throwing every single risk possible how did he not crash then that was incredible he absolutely broadsided it and somehow jakob fugusang holds the bike up what an incredible moment in this race here it is he goes into this corner and he slides the bike totally how did he hold it up wow how did he hold the bike up these riders then still chasing they've still got a chance they won't give up until they get there early still putting in the effort we're getting close to that corner that foogle sang nearly crashed on everyone is safely through it's all about this rider yakuza under the red kite one kilometer to go this has been a sparkling classic season for jakob fugusang the danish diamond is about to bring it home yakuza sang out the saddle [Music] he's been searching he's been looking he's been hoping that liaison liaise would be it that would close his classic season where he's finished on the podium of every single one-day race he's ridden he finally celebrates he sees the danish flag at the side of the road yakuzang is going to win liaise bast on liage with a thrilling attack over the top of the final climb taking with him davey de formalo and michael woods and then getting rid of them just a few hundred meters later get ready now 200 meters to go no one denies this rider the victory he deserves it his season has been sparkling and now he's bringing it home jakob fool sang winsley age fast on liaise for denmark frastana superb absolutely stunning racing by yakov coming into the finish now is david formerlo the last danish winner of the age bastard on the age was rolf sorensen in 1993. david formerlo comes in in six hours 37 minutes second place for formula and here's the sprint for for third place vincenzo neberle is looking for another podium finish in a monument nebulae leading out here comes adam yates in second place the sun is shining here on the boulevard of roy in liege and it's going to be a big spread michael woods looking for it as well we're going to have two borah riders on the podium shachman takes third place yates is fourth woods is fifth [Music] the 23rd victory of astana of this season and the biggest victory of yakufuksang's career the winner of liaise bast only age from the astana team yakuza [Music]
