Welcome back! Today, we catch up with Tanaka,
our laziness champion, and his best pal Ohta. In recent events, classmate Miyano sought Tanaka's
guidance in mastering laziness, sparking a misunderstanding with her best friend, Echizen,
who mistook her admiration for romantic interest. The air was cleared when Miyano confessed her love
for Echizen, not Tanaka. Our duo also uncovered a secret about their class president, Shiraishi.
Behind her flawless image, she's a normal girl who works hard to uphold her reputation.
Tanaka exposed her secret, noting that while looks can change, some things remain the same.
One day Tanaka invites Ohta for errands before returning home. En route to the supermarket,
Tanaka reveals the errand request came from his younger sister. Coincidentally, Ohta also has a
younger sister, who differs significantly from the boys - she's more attractive and industrious.
Inside the supermarket, Tanaka struggles to remember the shopping list. Guided by Ohta, they
discard items that require too much energy from Tanaka. As they navigate the supermarket, Ohta's
knack for budget shopping and bargain hunting impresses the women present. In the end, Tanaka,
failing to recall the list, decides to buy items starting with 'P' - the lone letter reminder
in his phone. He eventually surmises that his sister wanted him to buy pancakes on sale. He was
off the mark. His sister had intended for him to buy a cleaning product. As a consequence, Tanaka
is served a meal of his irrelevant purchases. As we move along, we join Shiraishi. Knowing that
Tanaka is aware of her real persona offers her tranquility. Yet, she senses a novel emotion
stirring within her. One day, while observing Tanaka during break, she feels her heart flutter,
though she's unsure if it's love. This newfound emotional unrest concerns her friends, leading
Shiraishi to share her potential infatuation. To their delight, this development seems to bring
out a more natural side of Shiraishi, lessening her strive for perfection. In the classroom,
Shiraishi ponders on ways to connect with Tanaka, given their limited recent interactions.
Observing Tanaka's close friendship with Ohta, Shiraishi decides to learn more about Tanaka by
watching them. She briefly thinks about gaining strength to carry him like Ohta, but deems it odd
for a newcomer to lug a snoozing classmate around school. Her initial plan flopping, she recollects
their first accidental hallway bump and tries to recreate it. However, she runs into Ohta, and
spotting an opportunity, she chats with him, subtly inquiring about Tanaka’s love life. Ohta
suggests that Tanaka is too indolent for romance, and has never been in love. Shiraishi interprets
this as her green light to introduce the beauty of love to Tanaka. Her resolve wavers, though, when
she spots him chatting amiably with Miyano. A pang of jealousy strikes her, and she flees the scene
to avoid interrupting them. Alone on the rooftop, she berates herself for presuming that she could
make Tanaka fall for her. Just then, Miyano appears and escorts her back to the classroom.
Assuming Shiraishi's interest in becoming Tanaka's disciple, Tanaka steps in to clear the air as
Shiraishi gathers courage to ask Tanaka for friendship. Tanaka replies that they already were
friends since they share a secret. Miyano suggests swapping contact information to commemorate
their fresh friendship. At this juncture, everyone's content, and it turns out that Miyano
is aware of Shiraishi's feelings for Tanaka. Thus, she offers to aid Shiraishi covertly in her
budding relationship with Tanaka. The following day, Ohta gazes out at the rain with a touch of
melancholy. His mood shifts when he spots Tanaka arrive, entirely drenched. Tanaka admits he had
an umbrella but was too lethargic to open it, choosing instead to endure the rainfall.
Shiraishi, also observing the heavy downpour, fantasizes about sharing an umbrella with
Tanaka. Her daydream is interrupted when she notices Tanaka standing purposelessly in
the schoolyard. Back in the classroom, Tanaka elaborates on his failed experiment to create an
anti-water barrier. Shiraishi advises him to use an umbrella to avoid getting a cold, which Tanaka
heeds. Since his umbrella was mistakenly taken, Shiraishi's dream comes true when she gets
to walk home with him. The following day, Tanaka attempts a new strategy to avoid raindrops,
which, predictably, fails and leaves him drenched once more. His consistent exposure to the rain
leads to a cold, but it doesn't seem severe enough to worry Ohta at this point. Nevertheless,
Ohta keeps a watchful eye on Tanaka, prepared to escort him to the nurse's office if needed. Given
Tanaka's sore throat and higher-than-usual energy expenditure, Ohta suggests he write instead of
talk. The strategy appears effective at first but falls short when Tanaka needs to borrow a
forgotten book from Echizen. Ohta's attempts at nonverbal communication only make sense to
Tanaka due to their close bond. On the next day, Tanaka heads to school appearing healthier,
albeit behaving peculiarly. With his mask on, he's free to make faces unnoticed, delaying
the return of his usual lazy expression. Later, Echizen nervously navigates the school halls,
under the impression that both Tanaka and Ohta harbor feelings for her. This mix-up
originated the day Tanaka borrowed her book, leading her to believe she must choose one
of them as a boyfriend. Up on the rooftop, Echizen weighs the pros and cons of each option
but is left in a state of greater confusion. Unsure of what to do, she contemplates changing
herself, starting with shortening her skirt, but Miyano interjects in the nick of time. As
they converse in the classroom, Tanaka walks by. Echizen fears they'd make an ill-matched couple
due to his height. However, Tanaka reassures her he admires tall people because they could
potentially carry him like Ohta does. This brings Echizen relief, but she gets flustered
and trips on her skirt. Ohta catches her, escalating her nervousness. She makes a hasty
exit, stumbling down the stairs in the process. Once everyone has calmed down, Echizen speaks to
both Tanaka and Ohta. Tanaka explains that when he was ill, he was merely too lazy to write
his long surname. He asked her to choose an easier one like "Gouda" or "Tanaka" to save
himself unnecessary effort. Understandably, Echizen becomes upset over this miscommunication.
Tanaka proposes a simpler nickname, "Eken", which makes her blush but also brings a smile to her
face. A few days later, Tanaka returns from the bathroom to find a box of chocolates in his bag.
Ohta reminds him it's Valentine's Day and suggests it could be from an admirer. They're further
surprised to find another chocolate bar, this one for Ohta. Despite their appreciation, the mystery
of the gift-giver remains unsolved. An mysterious note in the box reading 'I'm always watching you'
only deepens the intrigue. As the school day ends, Ohta contemplates helping Tanaka find a suitable
gift in return. However, the larger concern is identifying the anonymous classmate who's in
love with Tanaka. They briefly suspect Miyano, as the note would make sense in that context, but
discard this theory when they overhear her telling Eken about forgetting to give chocolates to
their teacher. With one less suspect, Tanaka and Ohta start to wonder if the chocolates might
just be part of a prank. The mystery deepens, causing confusion and anticipation. But then,
Ohta suggests tasting the chocolates. Maybe, just maybe, they could sense some intent behind
the gift from the flavor. The homemade chocolates taste exquisite. This leads Ohta to ask
Tanaka if he's ever seriously considered having a girlfriend. Tanaka admits he's indulged
in fantasies but deems the effort required to make them a reality too exhausting, so he settles
for daydreaming instead. Ohta tries a piece of the homemade chocolate, finding its flavor
reminiscent of Shiraishi's macarons. But this theory is debunked when they overhear Shiraishi
confess she completely overlooked Valentine's Day, engrossed as she was in her exam preparation.
Walking home, Tanaka is somewhat disheartened at not discovering who gifted him the chocolates.
The atmosphere takes a darker turn when a voice recorder falls from his bag, closely followed by
the unexpected appearance of his little sister. However, the tension subsides when Rino Tanaka
clarifies the voice recorder is hers, which she uses to record her teacher’s lectures. With this
mystery solved, Rino invites Ohta over to their house, and Tanaka appreciates the prospect of
having a personal pick-up and drop-off service.
Upon arriving at their apartment, it's clear that
Rino, Tanaka's sister, is his polar opposite. Despite their similar appearances, Rino's
energy contrasts with Tanaka's languor. When Ohta mentions how well he and Tanaka get along at
school, it ironically annoys Rino, who blames Ohta for encouraging her brother's slothfulness. Tanaka
attempts to diffuse the situation by discussing the mystery of the chocolates, but this seems
to stoke Rino's ire and jealousy. To ease the tension, Tanaka walks Ohta to the station, and
the truth behind the Valentine's Day conundrum is revealed. The culprit behind the chocolate
gifts was none other than Rino. Jealous of Ohta's close bond with her brother, she decided
to prank them both. The homemade chocolates, as well as the handwritten note, were all part
of her scheme to remind Tanaka of their familial bond. Several days later, Tanaka faces an unusual
predicament: Ohta doesn't show up at school. Tanaka asks Echizen, their mutual neighbor, to
deliver Ohta's class notes. But Echizen refuses, insisting that Tanaka should deliver them
himself as a testament to their friendship. Echizen is surprised that Tanaka doesn't know
where his best friend lives. Tanaka admits he has been to Ohta's house on several occasions
but never consciously remembered the route, as he was usually asleep. Nevertheless, they
manage to find their way to Ohta's home. Tanaka's unexpected appearance at Ohta's doorstep leaves
the latter in disbelief. Tanaka merely hands over the class notes, surprising Ohta with his unusual
show of effort. The reason behind Ohta's absence is an accident which led to a twisted ankle.
In a brief flashback, it's revealed that Ohta had come to the aid of an elderly woman carrying
heavy items. When she lost her balance and fell, Ohta was unfortunately under her. Initially
brushing it off as a minor incident, the elderly lady insisted on taking him to the
hospital, where it was discovered that his ankle would take a week to heal. The real concern
arises from wondering who would tend to Tanaka during Ohta's recovery period. Surprisingly,
Tanaka steps up to repay his best friend's usual care. He resolves to look after Ohta in
his own way. During lunchtime, Tanaka ventures out to buy food for both of them. However, on
the return journey, his energy drains, leading him to consume his purchased anpan (a sweet bread
filled with red bean paste) to regain strength, so he could make it back to the classroom.
Echizen drops by to check on her friend, Ohta, bringing along a dessert she had bought for him.
While he initially hesitates to acknowledge it, Miyano verifies that Echizen did indeed get him
a treat he likes. Later in the self-study class, Tanaka decides to catch a quick nap, having
expended more energy than usual. His nap, however, is cut short by a nightmare. Upon waking
up, Ohta reminds him of the grammar exercises due at the end of the day. Tanaka gets to work and
finishes the task quickly, albeit incorrectly. After a peculiar conversation about converting
all languages into Japanese, their classes finally conclude. Suddenly, the evacuation alarm blares.
It turns out to be a drill, and everyone is asked to exit the classrooms calmly. In the school
yard, Shiraishi notices Tanaka's absence from the group. Before panic sets in, Tanaka arrives,
explaining that he got lost as Ohta would usually guide him in such situations. Back home, Tanaka
admits to Ohta that he struggles to manage most tasks without him. Ohta reassures him, glad that
Tanaka at least tried to help in his own way. As the days pass, Ohta recovers from his injury
and things return to normal, with him once again rescuing Tanaka from being late for class. That's
