hey guys what's up welcome back to the channel so today we are doing some stair strip boards and some kind of very dimly wet conditions here um we have we have our existing set we have our stairs framed up here it's not I didn't frame them up but we have them framed up here um then we're going to add our our snare skirt board on here which would be this trim piece that goes on the side here um these things are a little difficult to learn out the first thing you want to get for it when you when you you want to you want to get your measurement so you can order your materials for it so you just want to imagine it from the top I just lay my tape measure here on the stair noser just like that now I get some over here just down to where it hits and then I just gotta remember that my top is the short points so from there I want to have like another six inches so for this we've had about actually um pocket screwing them together and gluing them together so this side here we actually have the same deal uh you can see there's a joint there Carly can tell but it's all going to be painted so it'll look pretty good um the second thing you want to do here is you want to get your boards here and you want to go you have a decision you can lay them out this the first thing that I did was I cut my stair angle which is on top of the speakers if you don't have a wall up there put it up pass the nosing and then you just want to tack it to the wall I just touch my stair angle over here which is actually a 38 degree angle stairs usually 40 40 you can guess around 40 degrees for the stairs this is near the 38 you know right on so I cut my angle this way I'm gonna have my stairs spirit board base there so I can trace it you guys gotta let me know in the comments what you guys do for stairs especially for skirt board I know you can get those big forward and square things that you could actually just like you know copy the layout of the stairs on it and then just set it on your board and trace it I I don't have one of them I don't know if that weighs easier or not um what I was doing here I just had it settled my staring at you and then I just put a strip I just put a stairs so it's just packed in place and stays there I also have this piece of drywall Corner that's sticking out we just take the corner off there all right so what I do I have my little torpedo level and I know my scare rise is seven and three eighths which would be this number from the um from the tread to the top of the other tread uh that's seven three eighths uh it's about seven and a half but I'm just going seven three eighths just you know just pretty Flawless but right along there um now what I was doing here is I lay out and I'll get a little closer here check it out yes well there we go what I found works pretty good is I just tack it in place there and I use my little level and I'm actually just leveling up from the Riser and I just draw a line I just measure up from that line my seven and three eighths and I make a mark I was measuring each one just so I can have you know as close of a a fit as possible it doesn't need to be right on because my stair treads are going to be going on here so but there's a little bit of a gap there it's fine um this is what I was doing and I got my that'd be my Riser there and then my tread I'm just doing a level line back from my top of my Riser height just like that same deal here again I just want to measure what that is this top is Step seven so they must have forgot to take off and they figured it out because the whole step should be the same foreign [Music] [Music] I just like to just so you know it just gets that [Music] nice finish when you install it there's not like a huge gap you just want to make sure that you're you know your gun there when you're measuring your Treads back they should be hitting the the point here where your Riser starts at that right on the corner there where your risers start should be your tread you know level out from there um I think that's kind of a given um but I thought I would just mention it so these stairs are all different I think they I know they installed different size material a few not sure why they did that I gotta just make a jig here at seven and a half just so I can mark it off nice normally that's what I would feel but I think I can get a few here yet so I'm just gonna continue that 738 foreign foreign [Music] [Music] foreign my what I end my stair skirting here you can't see me now um so right here I'm adding my stair shirt so what I'm going to do here is I just want to have a straight line down from the from the wall here from the corner of the wall and my stairs starting is just going to stop right like that there is going to be trim on the um the open end Reds so that'll be on the other side that'll be on the underside of this strict that'll be on the Stringer all right so what I want to do here is I just want to I want to terminate this out so what I'm going to do here is I'm going to put my last tread on here um I'm just going to go level from my last riser because I know that this is going to be sitting down there's the rest I actually want to measure what my shred here is nine and a half technically I want to measure what it is to that corner can't really see it looks like nine we're gonna go nine and a quarter just to be sure you can always take some off if we need to so we got nine and a quarter here and then [Music] on our Stringer here we just want to go straight up from there I think half nine and three quarter Maybe we're just gonna go ten like I said you can always cut it off later so that is what my stair skirt will look like when it comes down to my corner here that'll sit down in there it's going to look like it's gonna look like the bottom here except that it's going to be on a step so it's going to look like that but it's going to be like one step up on there so that's what that's going to look like we're gonna go ahead and go cut these and then see how it fits all right so we have our stair stripper cut so we're going to attached out of here I know it's really fast before a little bit I have to take off that corner of that but for right now this is just checking to see if I'm anywhere close with it hopefully with luck I am it looks pretty good I know my corner here is a little long even I left it running along it's about a quarter long it's not bad it looks pretty good the top is the top is right in there nice everything else lines up pretty good yeah so that is tomorrow and cut stair strip board
