lord we we pray over this message this short message god though it will be short in time we pray that it wouldn't be that it would be very impactful to each of us your word is powerful your word is living please speak to us clearly through your word lord may we lord have wisdom even as we just read when we reverence you that's the beginning of wisdom i pray that all of us lord would truly reverence you in that we would have that wisdom that comes from above wisdom that's pure and peaceable easy to entreat give us your wisdom lord especially in these days that we live in teach us lord teach us in all your ways and lord i would ask that we would stand for truth help us to discern deception and lies and help us lord to know your truth because lord it says in your word we will know the truth and the truth will set us free may we be people of truth in jesus name amen amen you can be seated thank you and if you can turn with me again as i mentioned i'm gonna have just a short little devotional here before we we welcome our great guest up but uh you can turn with me first john chapter four we're going to look at two verses verses five and six title of our message is the truth the truth jesus said i am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father jesus said except by me the bible tells us that you will know the truth and the truth will set you free truth is important jesus is truth we're living in a day where around the world there's a lot of deception there's a lot of deceit there's a lot of confusion you see god is not an author of confusion god is an author of peace and god doesn't want us to fall for lies that doesn't want us to fall for deception you hear fact checks i hear people say well i fact check that well fact check your fact check because your fact check's wrong this has always been and will continue to be my fact check is right here if god says it that settles it amen i love what the bible says it says let god be true and every man a liar so i i want to trust what god has to say and for believers we need to stay in the word why because god's word is truth and we need to understand the truth we need to understand when we see something that's wrong we need to call out things that are wrong we're living in a day to day where there's a lot of deception but yet there's few of us that are standing up for truth and i pray that changes when i mentioned i went to the charlie kirk conference there in tampa florida it was so awesome the best part of the whole thing was watching all these young college age kids and high school kids standing up for truth and it was just so powerful so god is doing the work in our midst there's a small jesus movement going on here i believe and god's working in a mighty way so again just real simple truth so i want to just read this can now can you stand with me i'm going to read just these two verses here so john writes first john 4 5 there of the world therefore they speak as the world and the world hears them we are of can we say that together god he who knows god hears us he who is not of god does not hear us listen to this right here this is very key by this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of air lord we lift up these two verses to you again please speak to our hearts in jesus name amen you can be seated thank you so real quick do you realize that there's a spirit of error a spirit of deception biblically speaking just as john the the apostle writes here and i know in context he's talking about false teachers false prophets and to beware but i believe there's a lot of falseness going on right now but we need to realize according to the text that we're in that there's a spiritual realm behind it it's spiritual there's a spirit of error and as believers we should see through this error i just want to let you know that word in the original language that word error means deceit deceived to be misled listen to this or to be led away from the right way are we seeing that today i think we are there's a lot of deception going on and it's it's very interesting what's happening i don't know how many know amir safadi do you raise your hand if you know isn't he great yeah most you guys that's awesome so he does a middle east update he's a good friend of ours matter of fact our menorah he's sent from israel to us he's a as a gift and he's just a great guy we love amir but uh look at on youtube uh it says they blocked him on youtube and this is what they said if you open it up just recently says this photo may may be sexually suggestive or have partial nudity now do you think that's the spirit of truth or the spirit of air i'd say that's the spirit of air that's battling against what's right and trying to mislead people amen okay what about this how many people said i can't even say this on the second service because they'll just throw me right off when i talk about this stuff they just toss us off so we're not on air right now so we can talk i can read the whole thing now i couldn't read second service i couldn't read this i'll read it to you though so here local philippines government declares that unvaccinated people will be barred from purchasing can we say together food and is this interesting though i'm not saying the mark of the beast is the vaccination i'm not saying that at all but it's interesting that it's starting to ready without a vaccination you can't buy food revelation 13 says there's going to come a time you're going to have a mark it's called the mark of the beast you won't be able to buy or sell without this particular mark do you know in russia they've got right now they've got like they're tattooing people with like a qr code did you see that it's like a special tattoo uh to prove that you've been vaccinated so you can get into stores and buy interesting stuff interesting days we're living in one more blm leader practices witchcraft and summon dead spirits black activist claims so you might have heard of abraham hamilton iii he's on the hamilton corner uh he exposed this whole thing the the the leaders of blm uh they've talked about how they summons dead spirits and so they're into uh you know witchcraft and all this other stuff so my question to you this is the christian post my question to you is this the spirit witchcraft spirit of truth or spirit of air you decide i'll let you decide all that guys i know most of you know this and most of you are doing this and i want to just say how blessed i am to be a part of a church that stands up for truth and it's a blessing to see all of you guys doing what you're doing standing up and coming against lies and it's wonderful so those of you that are doing that i want to encourage you keep standing up for truth amen but if you're here today and you're not doing that i pray the lord will give you the courage to stand up for what's right to stand up for truth and so that's the message very simple very clear the truth will set you free stand up for truth don't believe the spirit of air because we are children of the living god and greater is he that's in us than he that is in the world you guys are well taught good good job [Applause] okay before i introduce my guest i want to share a little uh insight with you maybe you already knew this how many people know candace owens you guys know candace owens yeah his hands did she great i recently found out she said there was one video that totally impacted her life totally changed her way of thinking and that video she saw she said on youtube was larry elder it changed her entire life elder is her mentor and so our special guest that we have with us today i just want to say he is an american conservative he's a talk host uh show host excuse me talk radio show host for the last 27 years i said 28 years but i was off by one year 27 years since uh 1993 he has an audience of an average of 1.5 million listeners he's a filmmaker he's an author he's an attorney and he is currently running to replace gavin newsom as our next governor of the state of california welcome please larry elder awesome what you're doing awesome [Applause] oh my goodness thank you so much thank you so much i've been a politician now for two weeks and three days [Laughter] i'm told larry you're so authentic i haven't learned how to be fake yet i guess it kicks in in about six months pastor thank you so much for having me uh it's been a blessing to have been to be able to borrow your congregation for for for this day now i never ever thought i'd be running for office let me check that i did run for fifth grade class president it was a landslide i beat william moy i carry three out of four roles they're still cleaning up the blood but i and i almost ran against barbara boxer some years ago and i was approached as i'm approached quite often and this time i thought maybe i would consider it and i said i'll do it on one condition if the national republican party endorses me so i hopped on a plane my own dime i flew to washington dc i met all the senators who were involved in this process including john cornyn from texas and another one from oklahoma inhofe and i sat and told them about my life and why i was thinking about running and they're all nodding oh yeah very interesting very hard i thought for sure i had it i get back to lax phone rings i'm sorry we're gonna go with carly fiorina i said why they said three reasons she's a woman i said i'm not gonna have a sex change operation to run so i'll give you that she has more money than you have and i said i'll give you that she was the ceo of hewlett-packard big buyout third reason is she has higher name recognition than you do i said no she doesn't maybe in d.c but not in california i know that because one of my buddies put my name on some petition to find out what my name recognition was and it was 35 percent at that juncture now boxer ran against bruce hershen the first time and a guy named matt fong the second time and at that same juncture they were at five percent name recognition so my neighbor recognition was seven times higher but they went with her that was the only other time i ever thought about running for office so fast forward now this recall happens dennis prager comes to me and dennis prager is responsible for for my being on the air uh he had me on and uh introduced me to management and kept pressing management to hire me if it weren't for dennis i wouldn't be on the air so this comes to me and said larry a lot number of people are asking me to ask you to run for governor and i said hell no and dennis said why and i said i think that the state is ungovernable the democrats enjoy not too negative the democrats enjoy super majorities and in the assembly uh in the senate and i said even if i veto bills which i would do they're going to be able to override anything i do so what's the point i didn't know and dennis didn't know that a bill has not been overwritten since the late 70s early 80s 40 years what happens did you know that i didn't know it either uh what happened is you veto something stupid as schwarzenegger did many times and even jerry uh jerry brown did many times you go public you talk about why the bill was stupid phone starts ringing for the state senators and the assembly persons and and these constituents go what were you smoking and they don't override the bill so i was quite surprised about that but i still wasn't going to do it a woman named jenny sand approached me i'd never heard of her she's a quite a local activist conservative pro-life here in in california and she kept sending me letters time and time i said nina who is this person uh she keeps writing me and telling me i should run tell me why i should run and having all these plans who would invoice me how much money i would get and all this stuff if i were to run and i said let's meet her for coffee for five or ten minutes get her off my back so we meet for coffee four hours later i still wasn't gonna do it i was approached then by pastor jack hibbs and jack made the same argument that dennis did you were talking about these issues about crime about homelessness about the rising cost of living about the way this governor slammed down this state all against science his own kids were enjoying in-person private education his winery was exempted sitting up there at the french laundry by the way i didn't even know what the french laundry was i thought it was where you took your tuxedo to get it cleaned and he's sitting there with the very lobbyist and the medical people that drafted the mandates that they were violating by not wearing masks and by not engaging in social distancing it's a hypocrisy stupid and i still wasn't going to do it and then lionel chetwyn a longtime filmmaker approached me he's a good friend of mine he did the film hanoi hilton was nominated for best adapted screen pay for that movie and he also urged me to run for all the same reasons larry you have name recognition you have higher name recognition than anybody other than caitlyn jenner [Applause] for reasons we won't go into and um you're being on radio for 27 years you're in every major market from sacramento down to san diego people know you you've been writing about these issues you have a column that you've been writing ever since april of 1998 about all these issues and why don't you do this and i said ah and then i decided maybe i should ask normal people so i i kept waiting for somebody in my life to say this is insane you've got a good life making a nice career nobody's going to be scrutinizing your personal life the way it would be if you go into politics why do you need this nobody said that i talked to my barber he's been cutting my hair for 27 years i said you know these people are coming to me to run for do it there's a guy who owns a limo company where i drive he drives us from time to time and his name is ed and every now and then himself drives and so ed's driving and i said ed people are coming to me and asking me to run for governor he pulls the car over he parked he turns around and he said larry do it and save us i said ed not too much pressure and so because of all these things because of the way he slammed down this state and by the way a third of all small businesses are now shuttered forever one of the things that i am in addition to the other things i was a business owner small business owner the highest number of people i ever had was 12 but it still is a business and most businesses fail those that succeed often operate on very thin profit margins many of them operate from payroll to payroll it is hard to run a business big or small you can't work nine to five you know that that's called bankruptcy you work 60 70 80 hours a week that's how long it takes to run a business and a third of all small businesses are gone forever because of what this guy did and i decided the more i thought about it the more i said if not you who if not now win and now i'm in it to win it [Music] now i mentioned dennis prager got me in the talk radio but before dennis did i had this experience i'm living in cleveland ohio by the way i always wanted to be a writer this radio the tv stuff i had no blooming idea that would ever happen i wanted to be a writer and by writing i wanted maybe to have a book published but i also wanted to eat so i decided i would do something more practical uh and that's why i went into law but i always wanted to be a writer so now i'm running this business after i practice law for a few years running a small little business and it's going well enough that i'm able to take some time and start writing so i began writing op-ed pieces and i would send them to the largest newspaper in cleveland the plane dealer and i give back a little card thank you but no thank you so i wrote another one got that little card thank you but no thank you so wrote another one and they published it this is about 35 years ago and i said racism is no longer a major problem in america if you work hard stay focused invest in yourself you'll be just fine in america [Music] i didn't think it was that big of a deal i really didn't i get a phone call from producer of a radio show he said i read your article you really think that racism is no longer a major problem in america so no i don't think so i think if you work hard stay focused invest in yourself you'll be just fine in america he said are you black i said i've been told he said you want to come on my guy's radio show tonight and talk about your column and i said sure i've never been on radio before he said you're only going to be on for about five or ten minutes i said fine i was on for an hour now cleveland is about 55 percent black and so virtually every call was from a black person and they were not happy i was called an uncle tom a bootlicking uncle tom a foot shuffling bootlegging uncle tom a bug-eyed foot shuffling bootlegging uncle tom an oreo as in brown on the outside white on the inside coconut same concept the antichrist and i was called the thing you call a black person when you really really want to hurt him i was called republican a man can only take so much but you know what i was not called i was not called wrong not a single time when i said the number one problem facing black america is a large number of children who enter the world without a father was i called wrong i pointed out in 1965 25 of black boys and girls entered the world without a father married to the mother now that number is 70 now you and i could have a healthy discussion about the extent to which the 25 has to do with slavery and jim crow but you can't tell me the 70 percent does this is the welfare state in 1965 a nouveau liberal named lyndon johnson launched the war on poverty and from that point on we have financially incentivized women to marry the government and financially incentivize men to abandon their financial and moral responsibility was i wrong so i get back to my office and the phone's ringing and it's the station manager and he said i heard you today i said yeah he said you were amazing i said i was oh my goodness you have a good voice you took difficult positions you defended them without losing your temper or your sense of humor have you ever thought about doing talk radio and i said no he said i have a guy going on vacation i was going to get a pro to sit in for him but i want you to do it will you do it i said no and he said why i said i don't like it he said why don't you like i said i don't like yelling at people and being yelled back at he said are you married at the time i was he said do me a favor go home talk it over with your wife think about it and call me tomorrow i said i'll do that but i won't change my mind so i went home to my wife then wife cindy and i told her about all this she said what do you what do you think i said i know nothing at all about talk radio other than it seems shallow glib and stupid she said it is you'd be good at it gives you some idea what happened to that marriage now i've been doing it now 27 years i'm in 300 markets 150 1.5 million people heard me every day until i was taken off to run for office and the reason i was taking off is it's an fcc rule they would have to have given a show to every one of my opponents so since they can't give a show to 42 people i'm off and that's okay i um i want to tell you a little bit about my background my father came to california in 1945 right after the war now i should tell you i couldn't stand my father i thought my father was mean i thought he was unfair i thought he spanked us too hard too frequently and for reasons that were trivial and i have two brothers and all of us felt the same way about it we couldn't stand the sob probably me more than those guys and unfortunately the sob starts a small cafe when i'm 10 years old so now i have to work for him and i don't like working for him because he yells at me now when i say restaurant or cafe we're talking about a little bitty diner probably no bigger than this stage right here and 15 seats and the grill's in the middle so everybody can see and hear everything so when he's yelling at me everybody can hear it and i'm 10 years old he's yelling at me i'm 11 i'm 12 i'm 13 i'm 14 i'm 15 and i'm 15 now and i said you know what i would love to tell you i said to my father the next time he yells at me now see here we're going to sit down we're going to talk about having a mature relationship going forward but i'm not putting up with this anymore but i couldn't say that i was afraid of my father so i said to myself the next time he yells at me you just take off the apron and you can walk out the back door and leave the sob here by himself so he yelled at me and i was afraid to do that i waited another week he yelled at me i was afraid to do it i waited another week he yelled at me and this time i did it i went in the back by the way the waitress had called in sick and this is round rush hour around lunchtime so it was full of people and i walked out my father came home that night and he was furious and he said why did you leave now i was laying on my bed my dad paid me ten dollars a day plus tips and i said to my father dad i got sick and tired of the way you spoke to me and i was not gonna put up with it anymore my father threw the ten dollars that he paid me at me as i was laying on the bed he walked out of my bedroom and my father and i did not have another conversation for ten years and when i say not another conversation i mean nothing not even hey you think it might rain how about those dodgers what about the rams nothing and he was easy to avoid because he worked long hours i knew what the hours were i was in high school so i just made sure i was never in the same room with him we didn't have a big house it was easy to do that i graduated from high school i go to college in new england i go to law school in the midwest i end up working in the midwest i would come home to visit my mother i would just make sure my father was not around when i was there so now i'm 25 years old we've not spoken for 10 years and i passed the california bar i passed the ohio bar i'm working for a law firm that's now called squire patent and boggs it's one of the biggest and most prestigious law firms in the country and i was making the equivalent of 150 grand and i'm 25 years old i should be living large right but i can't sleep and i know it has to do with my father not that i ever thought we would be friends i didn't want to be friends but i was having difficulty sleeping and i called my secretary and i said cancel all my appointments i'm going to la and i'll come back in three or four days now i figured i would just call my father an sob he would call me an ungrateful son five ten minute conversation out the door then i'd be able to sleep so i didn't tell my parents i was coming because i didn't want my father to prepare so i get to lax i knew he closed open closed at 2 30. took a cab right from lax to the restaurant got there at 1 30 and i walk in with my luggage and my father is shocked to see me and he said larry should i put your bag in the back i said no dad i'm only going to be here for five or 10 minutes i want to tell you something i was going to tell him what a sob he was he would probably tell me i was ungrateful son then maybe i'd be able to sleep so i sat there for an hour and i said now larry calm down don't tell the sob everything he's ever said everything he's ever done just give him the highlights the cliff notes he'll probably call you ungrateful son five ten minutes out the door you'll be able to sleep so i waited an hour as i tried to steady myself my father sat next to me at 2 30 this close and i teed off on him i told him everything he'd ever done to me everything he'd ever said to me the time he spanked me in front of my best friend carl embarrassing the time he spent me in front of my cousin elaine really embarrassing the time that we were messing around in the bathroom put water everywhere my father went nuts and spanked me the belt that he used i told him everything he'd ever said everything he's ever done everything i could think of and i spoke nonstop for 20 minutes you guys know how i can go and after 20 minutes after telling him everything i could think of i was out of ammo i was spent and my dad said to me is that it [Laughter] you didn't speak to me for 10 years because of that and i said yeah and my dad said let me tell you about my father now this is the first time i ever saw my father cry i did not think the man had the ability to cry and i should tell you something i knew nothing about my father's life i didn't give a damn i didn't like him i couldn't care less about his life i mean i knew that he was an only child because we didn't get any presents and i met his mom one time outside of that i knew nothing about his life and i couldn't have given a damn and my dad said larry your last name elder i said yes he said that's not my father's name i said what what's your father's name i have no idea i've never met him you don't know your father you never met your father no who's elder elder was the man who was in my life the longest maybe four years my mother he said was irresponsible she didn't work she lived off different men she couldn't either read no right by the way my dad's birthday is may 25 and she couldn't even write down his birthday he knew the year when he enrolled in kindergarten he's telling me this the teacher said what's your birthday my dad said i don't know she wrote down may 25 her birthday so i told dad that he has a 1 and 365 chance of that being right for the next eight hours this man told me about his life as we sit on these two stools we only got up every now and then to use the restroom my dad got up to put more coffee in this cup outside of that we sat on these two stools for eight hours and he told me about his life and he said larry i came home at the age of 13 elder was long gone and i started quarreling with my mother's then boyfriend she sided with the boyfriend threw me out of the house never to return 13 year old black boy athens georgia jim crow south at the beginning of the great depression i defy you to find somebody who had a hand dealt like that and i said well damn what did you do dad said anything i could went down the dirt road i knocked on doors i picked up trash i cleaned the barn i did whatever i could i became a shoe shine boy a valet at a hotel and then i got a job that is a very prestigious job for a young black man in those days i became a pullman porter on the trains they were the largest private employer of blacks in those days so this little black boy from athens georgia was able to travel all over the country and one time he came out here to california on a run to los angeles and it was sunny and warm and people seemed more friendly less racist and my dad said he was astonished he could walk through the front door of a restaurant and get served he told me he always had crackers and tin cans of tuna with him because you never knew in the south if you're going to be able to get a meal so he made a mental note maybe someday i'll relocate to los angeles pearl harbor my dad joined the marines i said dad why the marines he said two reasons they go where the action is and i love those uniforms so my dad was stationed on guam he became a staff sergeant in charge of cooking for the colored soldiers war is over he goes back to chattanooga where he met and married my mom my dad can look at a cake and tell you what's in it that's how good he is he said i'm going to get me a job as a short order cook he walks around chattanooga and he's told to his face we do not hire goes to an employment office lady says you went to the wrong door my dad goes out to the halls he's colored only goes to that door to the very same lady who sent him out she wanted him to know what the rules were he comes home to my mom and said this is bs i'm going to los angeles where i was right before the war i'm going to get me a job as a shoulder to cook and i'll send for you my dad comes out to la he's walking around for a day and a half and he's told you don't have any references i'm sorry where are your references you'd need references my dad said i need references to make ham and eggs he offered to work for free just give me a reference they wouldn't even do that he was treated the same way in los angeles as he was in chattanooga maybe a little more polite about it goes to an unemployment office this time just one door lady says i don't have anything my dad said what time do you open she said nine o'clock what time do you close five o'clock my dad said i'll be sitting in that chair at nine i'll be sitting there chair until five until you find something my dad sat on the chair all day one day came back the next day sat there for half a day she calls him up i have something i don't know whether or not you're going to want it my dad said of course i'm going to want it i'm starting a family what is it she says it's a job cleaning toilets at nabisco brand bread my dad did that for 10 years took a second job at another bread company called barbara and bread for 10 years cook for a family on the weekend went to night school two or three nights a week to get his ged the man never slept five minutes here 10 minutes here 45 minutes here an hour here that's why he was so cranky if i don't get four or five hours you don't want to know me and so he walks in and this is not just day after day not week after week not month after month year after year after year like that and you come home to a house full of three rambunctious boys how are you going to feel and he told me more about his life and then he says well you know and the other time i was married what what you were married before mom he said yes i said how long i thought you're gonna say three months six months because my mother and my father were married 56 years and he said seven years i said you were married to somebody before mom for seven years what happened she cheated on me and she couldn't have kids and then the other time i got married what you were married before this one yes i was 19 years old because i was an 8th grade dropout i married another 19 year old girl their parents found out about it marched her down to the courthouse and had the marriage annulled i said so dad you had one marriage annulled another one seven years she cheated on you and you got married a third time why he said because i wanted you so as we are talking my father is getting bigger and bigger and bigger and larry is getting smaller and smaller and smaller now after eight hours i'm crying and i said dad please forgive me for judging you this way and my father said don't worry about it you didn't know just follow the advice i've always given you and your brothers hard work wins you get out of life what you put into it larry you cannot control the outcome but you are 100 in control of the effort and before you moan and groan about what somebody did to you or said to you go to the nearest mirror look at it and say to yourself what could i have done to change the outcome and finally no matter how good you are how hard you work sooner or later bad things are going to happen how you deal with those bad things will tell your mother and me if we raised a man my father and i from that point on became instant friends my mother and i are very close i would say my father and i became even closer for the next 35 years i wrote a book about this conversation called dear father dear son two lives eight hours i called it dear father dear son because when i got back to cleveland after we had this conversation my dad wrote me a letter he never wrote me a letter before in his life and it started out dear son i wrote back to him i said dear father the book is the most important book i've ever written so many people a lot of men all different races have written to me and told me your dad was like my dad world war ii generation that greatest generation these are tough old birds they weren't emotional they weren't warm and fuzzy they weren't ward cleaver and your book has made me reach out and reconnect with my father your book has made me rethink my attitude towards my father your book has made me rethink my attitude towards how i'm going to treat my children it's the greatest thing i've ever done i am stunned by the idea that we're talking about systemic racism critical race theory and crap like that after the election and re-election of the first black president i have been interviewed now by a number of newspapers since i've been running for office and one in particular kept going on and on and on about my assertion that systemic racism is not an issue not a problem in america and i said all right let's just do this let's have a little mind experience can we get your magic wand wave it over america remove every smidgen of racism from the hearts of white people okay now everybody white thinks like mother teresa do we still have a situation where 70 percent of black children enter the world without a father married to the mother do we still have a situation where in our urban high schools there's a 50 dropout rate and many of those who do graduate cannot read write a computer grade level do we still have a situation where the number one cause of preventable death for young white men is accidents like car accidents and drownings and the number one cause preventable death for young black men is homicide almost always at the hands of another young black man do we still have a situation where 50 of the non-suicide homicides in this country involve black victims and black perps do we still have a situation where a young black man is eight times more likely to be a victim of a homicide compared to a young white man if the answer to those series of questions is yes i submit to you that systemic racism is not the problem and critical race theory and reparations are not the answer [Music] i'm getting i'm getting the hook here so i want to give you a couple more stories if i can i haven't mentioned my mother my mother was a tough old bird i once told my mom if she'd gone into politics she would have been a senator has she gone into crime she'd have been jack the ripper and my wasn't that funny thank you though and and i i i took a course in african-american literature in high school by the way you've never heard me use the term african-american it's a ridiculous term i am american who is black i don't like this dash stuff i never did but that was a title of the course so i'm just being accurate and we read a poem by a guy named kante cullen and it goes like this well riding through all baltimore so small and full of glee i saw a young baltimore and people looking straight at me now i was young and very small and he was no wit bigger and so i smiled but he walked out his tongue and called me i saw the whole of baltimore from may until september of all things that happened there that's all that i remember well the teacher was furious the class was furious i was furious teachers said this is going to permanently stain this boy's psyche he'll always think of himself as a second-class citizen citizen he'll never feel completely integrated into america now my mother always taught my brothers to me nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission so as i'm coming home i'm thinking about the poem and i said i bet you my mom's gonna have a different take so i walk into the house she was in the kitchen stirring a big pot of greens and fly and frying some chicken wings my favorite and i said mom we read a poem in class and i want to get your take over it she said what is it so i pull it out i read it to her i said while riding through old baltimore so small and full of glee i saw a young baltimorean people looking straight at me now i was young and very small and he was nowhere bigger and so i smiled but he looked at his tongue and called me i saw the whole of baltimore from may until september of all things that happened there that's all that i remember my mom took the spoon out of the pot hit it on the side and said larry what a shame he allowed something like that to spoil his vacation how many wings do you want [Laughter] [Applause] and finally true story not one word has been changed for purposes of getting a better reaction this is exactly what happened right my girlfriend and i were in santa barbara santa barbara about six weeks ago in their own business you've been to santa barbara uh the demographics not exactly wakanda nobody's seen it black panther except for you huh so we're getting ready to get on the 101 and i said we should get some gas so we pull up to a gas station and as i'm getting out of the car i hear a deep male voice go hey want a banana and i'm trying to assess the situation i'm not sure what i was going to do depending on how big the guy was whether he was armed i don't know so i look up and it's a white guy next to his suv the trunk is open and there's a big basket of bananas and he's talking to a white homeless guy right next to it fishing through the trash so i said to the driver hey i thought you're talking to me i was about ready to accuse you of systemic racism so he's laughing and i said you know what i'm still going to accuse you of systemic racism how come the only guy you offered the banana to is that white guy over there now the homeless guy is laughing and i said i don't even like bananas homeless guy is doubling over he goes you're a funny guy you're a funny guy and i'm here all week two drink minimum throw something in the tip jar i get in the car i said nina did i just ask a homeless guy to give me a tip i'm gonna burn in hell thank you so much for having me may god bless you and may god bless the united states of america thank you thank you so much thank you thank you [Music] [Applause] [Applause] i love the fact that we get to know him we get to know who he is his life and it it's wonderful we need someone like this as our governor we need someone like this my hopes and my prayers is that god has raised him up for a time such as this he's equipped him for this and so he is i pray and hope because i believe that he's the man for the job and so uh every every service i do this just because our attorneys tell me i have to do this so i'm going to do this at this service that as a church we cannot endorse anybody so we're not as a church endorsing anybody but i am personally voting for this man right here thank you so last service i asked you a great question because a lot of people here are very concerned with your views when it comes to uh the sanctity of life so i'd like you if you could share a minute with uh your it's your views it's real short i'm 100 pro-life yes nope no acceptance no exception wonderful i'm opposed to the repeal of the hyde amendment that's the amendment that would prevent one dime of taxpayer money being spent on abortion as you know joe biden is now in favor of repealing it yes yes i know terrible yeah wonderful that you're standing up um just about even this last two services i have people coming up to me constantly saying pastor what do i do i might lose my job my my work is forcing me to take the vaccination uh are you supportive of mandatory vaccination i'm not in favor of mandatory vaccinations i'm not in favor of mandatory mass wearing and if i'm fortunate enough to be your governor the first thing i'm going to do is repeal any of those things that are still in force i pray the next time we have him back he will be the governor the next governor of this wonderful state of china let's give another hand for larry elder awesome thank you thank you soon god bless you wait we can pray again why don't we do this guys why don't you agree with me let's pray again for for larry elder lord god heavenly father we thank you for larry we thank you lord that we believe that you have raised them up for a time such as this lord we thank you even for his upbringing lord because lord i believe from day one you've been preparing him for this position you've been molding him you've been shaping him you've been using him lord you've given him a wonderful mind you've given him a brilliant mind lord god we thank you we ask that you would lord continually equip him for this battle we pray in jesus name that you would give him wisdom lord of solomon we pray in jesus name that you would give him discernment and understanding we pray that you would put godly men around him lord god that would know how to fight in the spiritual realm we pray in jesus name that you would lord put people around him that love you people around him that understand all the ins and outs of politics even though how ugly it can be but yet according to your word you said in romans 13 you said that they're ministers of god those that are in government you said they're my ministers we pray that he would be your minister god that he would minister things that are right that he would minister in things that are true lord we pray that you would use him to expose lies and deception lord god we thank you lord that he gets it he understands he sees through a lot of this deception so lord in jesus name give him all that he has needed for this lord god we pray for the american people the people here at least in this state for now we pray for the people in the state of california that they would vote and lord we pray that they would vote in a right way we pray in jesus name that you would work in each person's heart bless this man lord god beyond anything he can imagine we pray that you draw him ever so close to you because you promised when we draw near to you as we're doing right now you promised us that you will draw near to us continue to draw near to this man and his family and bless him we pray in jesus name and all we're in agreement said [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right let's uh let's just pray one more time for and have the worship team come on out as we pray lord god we just pray right now lord for our lives lord we we pray that you would use each one of us god lord we pray that we would know our call and that we would make that call and that election sure we pray lord that we as your children would not miss out on all that you have for us lord i pray that lord this verse comes to mind and i believe it's first corinthians chapter 13 where paul the apostle said that when i was a child i thought as a child i spoke as a child but then he said when i became a man i put away childish things lord i pray for all of us as believers that we would put away things that are childish lord things that are not of you that we would put those things away and that we would press forward to that calling that you have upon our lives god use each one of us fill us with your spirit god each one of us is believers use us for your glory and lastly we pray for any in this room those that are outside god if they don't know you in a saving way lord we pray they'd come to know you that you would draw them by your spirit even now lord may they see their need for you may they see how much they really need you god we lift them up to you in jesus name amen amen let's close out with this lesson [Music] oh [Music] will be [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] people get ready people get ready [Music] i guess with that song my question to you is are you ready let me really think of that are you ready there's i i think most of you already know this the bible teaches that one day we who are alive and remain the believers it says we'll be caught up together with the lord in the air and it goes on to say that we shall forever be with him i'm ready to go with him not that i have a death wish or i don't love my life because let me make it very clear to you i love my life i love what god's doing here in our midst i love being a pastor i love being married to my wife and i love what god's doing in our life but i don't love the world or the things of this world and as time goes on i realize i'm not of this world this world really has nothing to offer me god changed my life changed my heart and he wants to change you you see we're called to make him lord of all someone once said either he's lord of all or he's not lord at all in your life he wants to be lord over everything and that's that's what he wants to do with every one of us see he created you he knows every hair in your head he knows every molecule of your being he knows your thoughts before you think him he knows when you sit down he knows when you rise up before you say a word he knows all together what you're going to say before it even comes out of your mouth god is all-knowing and you see he created you for a very specific purpose a very specific plan and there's nothing more fulfilling than walking in that plan that he's called you to you see there's a miserable life and i lived that miserable life when i was doing things my way it's miserable because god didn't create me to do what i wanted to do what i thought was best for me but you see the day when i submitted to his lordship the day that i submitted in to what he had for me the plans that he had for me i realized that god has a good plan and i find even in my own life i could have made excuses well i can't do that or i i'm not able to do that or i'm not comfortable with this and you see for my own personal life god took me out of my comfort zone and i believe the reason why he did it similar to moses that no glory would go to me all glory would go to god and i believe for everybody's life god has a calling in your life he's called you he's placed you on this earth for a planet of purpose but it starts by having a relationship with him through his son jesus christ you see god so loved the world john 3 16 says that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever would just believe in him it says they shall not perish that's talking about hell they shall not perish but they'll have everlasting life god saved us from our sin you see sin sin basically means missing the mark we all sin we all fall short of the glory of god sin separates you from god why because god's holy and god doesn't become one with sin he'll never become one with sin so sin has to be dealt with so jesus christ died on the cross to take away all of our sin that we can have a relationship with our heavenly father have communion with him you see god doesn't want us to have religion there's a big misunderstanding in this world when i got saved my friends used to tell everyone oh he's got religion no i don't have religion i have jesus i have a relationship with god through jesus christ and that's what he wants for all of us so my question is have you given your life to jesus christ have you turned from your sins are you born of his holy spirit when you die listen when you die do you know for sure you're going to heaven i know i'm going to heaven not because of what i've done but because of what christ has done for me at the cross of calvary you see jesus christ paid my price the wages of sin is death that's just how it is that's god's word but you see jesus christ died his death was a substitute for you he died in your place if you'll receive him into your life it's not a matter of just believing listen intellectually because the bible even tells us the demons believe and they tremble so it's not an intellectual thing it's it's more than that you have to believe intellectually that jesus christ died on the cross was buried and he conquered the grave yeah we need to believe that intellectually but there's another step you need to make and it's receiving them into your life that which is born of flesh is flesh we are all born with a body with flesh but jesus christ said that which is born of spirit is spirit and he told a very religious man you must have a spiritual birth you see october of 1995 i had a spiritual birth i had religion before that but october of 1995 i became born of the holy spirit and my life has radically changed have you accepted christ as your savior have you had a spiritual birth does christ live inside of you by his holy spirit do you know when you die you're going to go to heaven you can know that today and it's as simple as asking christ to forgive you of your sins repenting turning from it and receiving them into your life you can do that today i would ask and encourage you do that before you leave the sanctuary you see the pastors are down front prayer elders are down front we have the ladies down front for the ladies that need extra prayer tiffany's down front for those that need extra prayer anyone up here could lead you in a simple prayer to accept christ as your lord and savior so do that today if you haven't done that already whatever prayer request you have take that time if you need extra prayer come on down front they'd love to pray with you today is the day of salvation don't wait another day don't say next week you might not have next week so do that we will have an opportunity as soon as we're dismissed larry elder will be out back here and you can uh take a photo with them if you'd like to do that that would be wonderful but as we close i just want to say now may the lord richly bless you may he fill you with his love may he fill you with his joy may he fill you with his peace and may his face shine upon you in jesus name god bless you
