LAKE MEAD UPDATE Major Water Level Change.

unless you've stood here looking down it's a little unnerving to hang your head over the side because I promise you my friends you will not make it a halfway down before your body turns into mush if it's not inflames [Music] first it's only been a little over 4 months since I've been out to Lake me but it seems a lot longer and today we're going to an area I haven't been to since I was a kid I don't know why I didn't come out here during all the lake meat updates but we're headed out to Cottonwood Cove and I don't know if I'm going to have a frame of reference to even know how it was when the lake was low right out there I don't know if we can see the lake from here or not let me try to zoom in I'm using a little dinky camera right out there we're going to head on over to Cottonwood Cove I'm going to have to probably look up some uh pictures that were taken of it place them right about here so or not right about here I'm going to probably have to look up some pictures that were taking of it and when we get down to the Cove when we get down to the marina I'll show you what it was when the lake was low so you'll have a frame of reference like I said for before and after cuz the lake has come up a lot here's something that always makes me laugh palm trees in the Nevada desert you know they're not indigenous to here these palm trees had to be dragged all the way out here Cottonwood Cove ranger station we got campgrounds we got a post office overflow parking I've never been here so we have no clue where we're going we're just driving in this is the residence I didn't realize people lived out here Cottonwood Cove well here's the boat launch and I'm going to put some before pictures of what it looked like out here from the boat launch two years ago when the lake was at its lowest versus now so you can see just how much the water has come up [Music] that water is Crystal Clear I know it looks green on camera probably from the bottom but I mean we can see all the way through it nonpotable water looks like it's covered in spiders or ants or something turn on fish cleaner before cleaning fish I said spiders and uh Rosie booked it Cottonwood Cove is about 84 miles from Vegas or from where I live so it was a little over an hour to get here it's a I like to visit everything to do with Lake me and I don't know why we didn't come out here during the whole water shortage or whatever it was but also I like to make sure that we support them and we usually get like a fridge Magnet or something from all these places that we go around Lake be and all our adventures Disneyland and everywhere else I mean it's not like I don't have any fridge magnets right they even have a little cafe out here which I didn't know they had pretty [Music] cool this is a super cool little cafe out here they got a great little menu you come in here and get some really good breakfast Sunrise Breakfast breakfast burrito Sunrise sandwich that's awesome and we do have a Lun this is Karen guys so if you come out to Cottonwood Cove make sure you see Karen and here's our lunch menu and everything is excellent they got short stacks they got guys they got biscuits and gravy you know how we are about biscuits and gravy oo I'm might have to come out here and check it out and then over here I would imagine is their little uh like convenience store grocery store gift shop type of place which is where we'll go ahead and go and get a fridge Magnet or something always Ducks how come you a look cold it's not that cold out here what a cool little store guys we're going to wander around and see what we can find for souvenir see they got the typical stuff you can get your you can get your drink cups your coffee cups your tumblers you get your water [Music] bottles I think we found the best aisle in the whole store it was meant to be that they came in this store today because his name is Mark and you know how cool name that is so when you guys come into Cottonwood Cove and you come is what is this is this a convenience store is it convenience store and front desk and front desk so make sure you come and talk to Mark and get your goodies I got a uh a fridge magnet and a pair of sunglasses all right let's let's talk about this major blunder that I just did this is Cottonwood Cove it is part of the lake lake me Recreation Area it was not affected by the drought so in the before and after pictures I showed you in the beginning or when we got down to the cove that's the reason why you don't see the water loss as bad as it was everywhere else because and I can't get a 100% of the story right but it has something to do with Davis Dam and them keeping this Cove at the level that it's at now so the whole time Lake me was having an issue with the water and it was dropping Cottonwood Cove never dropped so we drove out of here for nothing and I I'm not really nothing I can't say nothing I actually love doing these little road trips and coming out and seeing things I haven't seen before and this is cool and you know now I got the pricing I got the website so we do learn something and they got a ton of these house boats behind me which is uh that's a VCC trip if I've ever seen one or a weekend and we totally need to do [Music] it [Music] yeah you can totally tell just by where I'm standing right now how much the water's come up from the few times I've been out here when it was way back there and they had to extend the docks to get out there it just goes to show you that maybe I should put a little more planning into my videos cuz I typically don't I typically just show up with the camera and just wait it um I'll look around I'll ask questions I offer information that way but driving all the way out to uh Cottonwood Cove probably should have researched that a little bit better still doesn't make any sense to me that it's part of Lake me even though they call it Lake Mojave and none of the water went down has something to do with the flow maybe it's on one side of a tilted funnel I don't freaking know but uh now we are where all the issues were and we've been out here to Lake me Marine a bunch of times you know you know it's time for a [Music] cheeseburger leg level one 75.4 and the water temp is 52° that's a little bit chilly mostly sunny I am so excited to get back to one of my favorite restaurants believe it or not that happens to be out here at Lake me the boat house you know how much I love the [Music] burger it's been so long and I've missed it I am totally going to Grub today love this little restaurant you know know me and you know it's going to be the mushroom Reef ground beef burger topped with grilled mushrooms and onions smothered in Swiss cheese and I will change all of that I will add a Patty I will change it to mild cheddar cheese and I'll get rid of the onions they even have a salmon wedge salad I don't know how I feel about that I don't grilled salmon on a salad I've never had fish on a salad so I don't know it might be good if you go back to Lake me up update videos ago that I've done the lake was at 10437 s and now it's at 10754 the lake has gained 31.6 3 ft of water since then from my last video it's gained a little over 9 ft that's a lot of water over a lake that's 95 miles that's crazy exactly the reason why I haven't done so many Lake meat updates is because there's so much water has come in there isn't a lot to see out here anymore but we're still going to go look cuz there's some areas that I can show you before and after of what it was when we used to come out here when there was no water and now what it looks like now and the last time we came out here one of the harbors even though it thrown up with water was full of bugs was like a plague waiting to happen and then young one here's never seen Hoover Dam so we're going to take him over there and let him skate down the side of it well what was that that'll be [Music] fun and then a saint appear pierce with food I try look at that we got a appetizer the boy doesn't like hot sauce we got mild and regular I'm going to have one of the regulars and one of the Milds cuz it's going to be delicious this is exactly what I'm talking about why this is one of my favorite restaurants even though it's all out here in the lake most restaurants when they bring your ring wings or bars they bring them out all slimy they might be cooked all the way through but the skin is slimy this is nice and crisp oh my God that is so good are they moist extremely look hungry not only is she a saint but now she's an angel cuz I've been I've been craving this burger for like months and months and months ketchup and mustard look at that Tower of magnificence holy cow they give me like a whole bagat dots that's [Music] crazy even that club sandwich looks really really good might have to steal a piece of that when nobody's looking and the lad got these gigantic chicken fingers those look good too how's the seasoned fries let me check one out seasoned fries are good but I will stick with the mound of tater tots they gave me I'll never eat them all but if you can perfectly cook a tater top they have accomplished that feet [Music] Yep this is where you separate the men from the boys I've said it a lot and I'll say it again restaurants in Vegas could learn a lot by coming up here to figure out how the hell they make this burger because this burger is freaking delicious and it's flame broiled so you get the taste of the grill on there it is super greasy which is fat and I don't mind fat better than sugar just an amazing burger and I literally would drive all the way here just to eat this thing which is kind of funny because that's how the first L meat video was made that I did on this channel drove up here to have a burger and the rest is a whole bunch of views later one of the best [Music] really as I'm walking through here down the dock to get out of here I can see that the way I hike to get to the World War II boat is right over there none of this water was here I actually hiked all through here up over those Hills and that's how I got to the boat that boat's totally underwater now uh my friend that lives out here was telling me that they sailed right over the top of it and you can look down to it when I found it it was sticking all the way out of the water I am totally running out of light and I still got two more stops to make the last one I don't really care about filming it in darkness but this one shows a lot of what has happened in the past three years out here at the lake I need to race over there look I'm disappearing in the light but I need to race over there so we can see it this is part of an old defunct boat launch though we're not going that way we're going to cruise up over to the left here to show you something we've been to a few times that's probably changed significantly oh yeah they've really cleaned this area up quite a bit but look at all that water I don't know if you remember this area or not one of my thumbnails is a giant dead fish that we found out here this was completely Barren desert with abandoned buoys everywhere and you know what's funny those buoys that they just left laying on the ground are being used again well they're not being used again just kind of floated again after laying here for 2 years they floated up that's as far as my camera can zoom but there's the buoy there's one and then you come across hopefully this isn't all blurry there's another one over there yeah this was all underwater this was all dried out yeah this this was all dried [Music] out it is really cool to see the water level coming up out at Lake me as much as it is and uh everybody shares the same thoughts on it they're totally stoked 170 something more feet and we'll be back to where we need to be [Music] welcome to Hoover Dam that white line right there that big thick white line that runs along there that's called the bathtub ring and the very top of that white line is where the water was when I was growing up here in Vegas well we're in Boulder City but that's where the water was and if you look right here the water was to the very bottom of the walkways of those Towers when I was growing up I used to look over this side of the dam and I used to think we could just jump right in there and go swimming you jump now your feet will come out your forehead the sun is literally setting on me but can you imagine in the 9s there was so much water in here that it had to go up over the top of this Spillway and then they shot it out on the other side of the dam over [Music] there look at this ladder that comes up into the spillway and this is exactly how the water went out it went out it went it came over and it went straight down that hole right there which is a tunnel through the mountain and shot out the other side of the dam and I'll show you where came out when we get over there it's just amazing to me that there used to be so much water we had to let it go and now we're pretty much begging for the water to come back I like to cruise around and walk down there I like to walk down here I think it'd be fun to explore that big ass tunnel over there I don't know how you'd go down it skateboard maybe I just want you to see the stairs of death that I came down to come over here that's going to be a fun trip back up the hill and this is the entrance to the spillway tunnel look at that that's almost straight down can you imagine guys blasted their way through this mountain with dynamite pickaxes to make [Music] [Applause] [Music] this [Music] [Applause] that is a long ways [Music] down you can take a tour of Hoover Dam that will take you all the way down into the generator rooms there's tunnels that they take you into um tunnels that are actually leaking water and they'll tell you that it's supposed to do that but yeah it's a fun tour I've done it multiple times as a kid our our elementary schools used to take us on uh field trips right it's a it's a fun tour oh look a drinking fountain I wonder if that's water from the [Laughter] lake tastes like fish that was good we've currently crossed over into the future cuz in Vegas it's only 6:00 p.m. but now we're jumped into the future and it's 7:00 p.m. on the Arizona side I think we discovered where all the water from Lake me went there's a floor drain at the dam they've been lying to us all along the water isn't going through the spillway somebody's stealing it aliens the bad thing about all this is the parking lot that we're currently walking through is closed so uh I have to ascend Dante's staircase to get to my car and uh just in case I don't make it I hope you guys enjoyed this video and uh wasn't very much of a lake meat update cuz we have so much water but it was still fun I had a good day now uh I'm going to go have a pulmonary ISM and I'll see you guys on the next [Music] one I'm halfway up and I can taste blood Traders don't leave me it's okay Mark you can climb Dante staircase all by yourself you know you can do it you just did a treehouse at Disney last week but that was that was like 15 stairs at a time not 500 I'm almost there I did it I did it you can't even see you there you are you know what would be really crappy right now is if uh the railing I'm leaning against which is the very top of the stairs gave way and I tumbled all the way back down that would suck what are you trying to say [Music] seriously thanks for watching I'm going to go get some water
