Lake Havasu Visitor Center - London Bridge

[Music] hey all rusty rvtv welcome check it out we're at lone tree blm dispersed campground we're just north of lake havasu there's highway 95 busy busy road tons of rvers here i snuck in late last night spent the night here we're gonna run down into town and explore some havasu yay february is my favorite time here nice and warm can't wait look at the terrain you can see the lake way off people climb them low mountains there you see a lot of youtube videos about that there's a dirt trail you can actually take your atv all the way to town and explore way back in those hills not a very big camp area at all [Music] but heavily stayed at a lot of people camp here i mean lake havasu is probably one of the most pristine places you can come to in the winter and you can actually camp for free we're gonna check out some more free camping around here and see what else we can find let's get on the road well let's head to town i gotta make quick pit stop at walmart load up on some supplies maybe we'll cruise down by the bridge or something yeah those rock formations are in the left those are cool people climb those i've seen youtube videos on it looks like a big lobster claw or something huh plus you can camp at the base of these it's they're very small areas you can't fit too many rvs in there you always see rvs parked right at the base of them both sides of the road actually there's little dirt trails that you can get off on the right slightly i'll point them out up here here's one coming up on the left you should see some rvs yep right underneath the power lines and stuff you do get the road noise but hey why not it's free free and have a suit then right up here on the left there's a little road right before you get the airport and it takes you way back into what they call craigie wash there it is right there there's the airport straight ahead well i'll make a quick pit stop here walmart just need to pick up some water supposed to be in the 80s this coming weekend yay you know havasu has all kinds of events all winter long all right you guys wait in the van i'll be right back see that didn't take so long huh all stocked up case of water a couple gallon jugs a couple things make sandwiches we're good we'll cut through the parking lot you know i noticed uh down at the other end this is a huge shopping center there's a rv dealer it's really something anymore that these uh shopping centers are all closing down no one has retail look at this guy he set up a whole dealership right here and made his office part of the shopping center big paved parking lot kind of a pretty cool idea look he has them low uh pole trailers those things are expensive though i bet it's 25 30 grand for one of them things all right we say let's cruise down to the bridge instead of taking the main highway let's take the back road this is called london bridge road we kind of skirt along the lake a little slower but it's definitely more scenic a lot of rv parks and resorts back on this road condos this is really building up big time it's all changing real estate here is a premium massive inside storage units anymore they are everywhere but you don't want to let your rig set out and get cooked in the heat another rv park but boy they cram me in like a sardine can those rigs are on top of each other they get pretty good bucks for a month by the month now i know last time i checked it was uh 800 900 bucks a month stay at one of these plus electric but you got the lake right there okay right here off to the right is lake havasu state park it's really hard to get a reservation to stay there and guess what i got one in a few days we're going to come back to that it's going to be a future video right there spending the night finally super hard to get a reservation in there i got lucky anyway that'll be a video down the road lake havasu state park we're heading to the bridge right now though a lot of different boat shops along uh london bridge road plus it's motel hotel row these are right on the channel that goes underneath the bridge and you can see the lake and all that from them have us use a year-round town in the summer it doesn't matter about the heat them boaters come here oh man do they come thousands of them every weekend all right right around this corner should be a big parking lot we'll stop walk down under the bridge i want to see if the visitor center's open every time i go down there it's closed i looked online looks like it's open they got some really cool pictures in there and some uh neat stuff okay let me pull in here this is all free parking and made it there's the bridge mighty london bridge there's the channel hand dug channel man-made it's not very deep either you can usually see the bottom let's walk on down to the visitor center right here is where you get your two dollar boat ride go to california side to the casino what's the sign say casino wow they're closed mondays and tuesdays huh of course they're regulated over there in little california i'll be darned they're only open five days a week but you still go to the island they even bring school kids over there you go two dollar boat ride round trip it's a fun ride if you haven't taken and do it it's worth two bucks [Music] all right let's go find that visitor center there's one starship that'll take you way up up river up through the canyons unlimited towing 99 bucks what a good business on the lake huh i mean on the weekends you can get thousands of boats it's just insane uh-oh look at this we had a couple uh revere tv fans just fly in they're looking for breakfast they're just out quacking around all right enough duck jokes [Music] yeah you can rent anything down here jet skis and i got these houseboats up here rubber duck safaris there you go beach house beachwear but check out these uh pontoon boats you got chairs barbecue diving board there you go sunday and uh good times and tan lines that's fun this guy's pumping fuel how you doing walking the roadway sorry man you're all right maybe i'll do that this weekend come take one of these boat rides i always say i'm gonna do it never do it boat tours and excursions 79 it ain't no 79 degrees yet something's wrong with that thing i'm guessing it's got to be around 62 63. pretty good first of february though the chair big blue chair it's a pretty popular restaurant food beverage tasty ways mac and cheese bar huh don't remember that [Music] have two thing up the mighty fountain let's go check the fountain looks like visitor center's open two gate there you go let the water roar a lot of selfies get taken there like millions of them okay here it is here's the go lake havasu visitor center they're on facebook they're heavily on facebook a lot always posting videos and stuff let's go on in check it out [Music] and well we got videos look at this they fixed this up this wasn't like this last time i was in here got maps of the area all over the country all over the world they're koda arms hi how are you but if you're looking for info about havasu this is the place to come to all about the lighthouses around the lake looks like a little rest area oh charging station you can even charge your phone here cool good little pit stop see what else it got out back looks like another big screen a lot of big screen tvs in here about fishing wow look at this whole of the bridge there's the chainsaw guy mcculloch he's the one that bought the bridge says idea marketing genius to bring this thing here hiking trails everywhere around the lake [Music] check out some of the old pictures when they're building a bridge aerial photos look at that huh i've never seen these there's all the numbered bricks look at that everything every one of them had a number like a big puzzle and all the crowds when they opened it up it would have been cool to been there huh that'd be in the 60s that's something there they are digging the channel like all them crowds see there's a good picture of them digging out see that was all dirt they created havesu island pretty cool yeah i've never seen half these photos before oh look at that that's when it was in london how cool is exactly where that was before from the giant pieces of eight and a half times in arizona and the new home well good glad i came down here all right let's go check out the bridge i want to walk over see if that i think it's called dixie bell try to find their phone number that'd be a fun one to take a boat right on that old timer they still have their christmas wreaths on there wasn't that spectacular if you get a chance watch the video of the christmas lights of the bridge i caught back in december that was phenomenal absolutely incredible how they lit this thing up red green and gold how it changed colors that was something there's some better lighting i think this was all dirt they dug it out you've seen the pictures yeah christmas time that was something to remember more jet skis right up here is that dixie bell let's see if we find a phone number for it [Music] here it is this looks cool doesn't it take a ride on the dixie bell there it is wow 45 take a ride oh boy but hey do it before it gets too hot be fun well cool let's head back to the van [Music] mighty london bridge it's always cool i i've been down there a few times perfect time of day to come down here about mid morning it's roughly around 10 30. oh phone booth well not bad glad that visitor center's open good info actually the guy told me back there that the museum is open let's go find that and check it out i guess i'm gonna have to splurge and take one of these boat rides i'd like to take that blue one there that goes up through the canyons north of havasu i believe i'm not sure have to find out [Music] perfect day i mean you can see the color of the water against the brown of the dirt [Music] world famous london bridge millions of folks come here and look how havasu has grown i mean them houses go way up towards the mountains anymore this place has really changed since i've been coming down here over the last 15 20 years there's a good shot of 95 and that's actually part of the state park right there we're going to be camping there in a few days then that rv park over there that's crazy horse and there's the big old island perfect [Music] [Music] so not bad i mean it doesn't cost anything to walk around the bridge go to the visitor center free parking get you a two dollar boat ride down here to go to the california side or the casino just remember it's closed mondays and tuesdays they changed that i always thought it was open seven days but i don't get down here too often but hey we're here we're gonna spend a few days in lake havasu
