Léa Kyle performs an insane quick change act on Fool Us, Season 7, Episode 8

sorry i'm late i couldn't decide what to wear my name is lia kyle and i come from france who i am today was created by a variety of life experiences horseback riding gave me a taste for competition passions and self-improvement my searing studies allow me to create all of my costumes i discovered magic seven years ago thanks to my boyfriend who is a professional magician at first i tried sleight of hand but it wasn't for me so i began quick change acts i applied my passion kids to make a new innovation on the traditional act i never thought will be presenting my act to pen and teller the dream come true and to food them will be incredible don't blink because here comes leah kyle [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so get ready [Applause] [Music] so get ready [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] wow that's amazing you're probably the only woman that says i'm just gonna change real quick and we can believe you thank you very much wow did you make all of this yes i make all the costumes that is unbelievable thank you very much and do you start with the design of a dress and then work it into the routine or start with the trick and work in the dress she did the sewing studies so how does it make you feel to be out here performing i am very happy to perform here it's a chance for me to be here and this is the first time that i perform in usa oh wow oh thank you for doing it here yeah thank you all right let's see if your quick change gets you a quick trophy boys leah we love that act so good so beautiful and just moves right through and goes uh so much further than we ever thought it would go we were really happy with five or six changes and you did i think seven hundred thousand um now we've been doing this show for seven years and uh quick change does not seem like magic to us we know the basics of quick change but this isn't the quick change act this is a magic act because we know how all quick change is done and we do not know how all your act is done there is stuff there is stuff in this act that leaves us totally mystified completely and utterly mystified thank you and um i am we don't want to open a floodgate here this does not mean that quick change artists can come on and fool us because prick change artists can't magicians can and leah we look so forward to having you on our show in vegas thank you congratulations thank you

Amazing stuff. I've always thought that dressmaking is really an engineering profession, except with soft materials, which is probably harder in many ways. To have that much control of it is a whole other level.

Ive seen a lot of clips from Fool Us, but never seen the trophy they give. I love that it basically just says F U in huge letters

Wearing all those layers and moving around like that must be exhausting. Notice how thin she got towards the end as all the layers came off and the second to last piece was a two piece bathing suit. The last dress was tucked in the top piece and was released to reveal the last dress she was wearing.

The green dress change is truly a spectacular effect but it’s quite simple (I think). As an editor, we do similar tricks to the eyes but with cuts.

Your eye thinks that the dress is snapping to her. But if you watch each one individually you can see the dress off the hook get snapped back (this is what I don’t know, but I’m assuming by some trick wire and a spring loaded device or human to retract) into the black box and her dress on her body is also snapped back this way (as she has carefully positioned herself in front of a seam) The trick to the eyes is the timing of it going into the box exactly as it comes off her body revealing that she’s wearing the green dress.
