uh-oh this man's circling back yikes my goodness this frog thing is so bizarre oh God that is insane no the Buddha [Music] um oh from the book he read oh yeah good call wow oh my God [Music] no yeah he said that last time too that little town was decimated wow surely there had to be people in there it's all right [Music] is he really surrendering this time yeah I don't trust this man now go apologize to wifey [Music] oh with the money with the money they stole no that wouldn't have been enough [Music] are they the next two faded lovers this guy could be a god no [Music] that's the next master all right that was so fun that was like a CL this is why I like Kung Fu films because they are able to play with action in a way that other people can't pull off ah for sure but this was also like I love what Stephen Chow did with this it's different style I mean not just the Kung Fu but the comedy that he infused into it it's definitely self-aware of what it's doing but it does it in such an interesting way and I really love the twists and turns in this film we were able to predict some of them but it doesn't matter because you're so invested in the characters anyways what I love to do about this film is like characters you're just not expecting to I mean you're like okay that's that's just a small Time character that's an annoying character it's like oh no they've got a much bigger part to play from the landlord lady to Stephen Chow's character I mean from his character it's like yeah we got the backstory and like I just was not I mean later on I started to piece together he was going to be the master but this is one of the coolest arcs and heroes Journeys I've seen from a character in any film I've ever seen I know that's quite a bold statement to make especially after I'm just watching this but just from the perspective of I just wasn't expecting it because like where we see the character from the beginning where he's just this con artist and he's just like a low life and just wants to be part of the ax gang and just where he cut like how he just becomes a man it's really well earned and like he wants to be something and like he literally becomes the greatest master of all time it's just it was so well earned and I really loved again his hero's journey his Arc it just I loved it was so well done I like the idea that they're playing with that even though he started out good and then got kicked to the ground and pissed on literally and was like I'm never gonna be good again he still couldn't be bad he never had it in him no matter how much he wanted to have that in him and I like the idea that the good guys in this film the good women in this film are so unassuming they don't want to fight like it's so is in the Buddhist way like do harm to no one they were only doing that when they had to protect people and even then when they had the choice to kill they didn't yeah no it's the Mr Miyagi way you know yeah karate is for self as for defense only and yeah I totally agree with you and I love the point too that you make they only want to fight like when provoked I know obviously she doesn't talk but their chemistry is it's really well done on screen and I just like I was so invested in that relationship even though they didn't get a ton of screen time between those two characters the Stephen Chow's character and the uh I'm not sure what the actress's name in my book is but I really love that part of the storyline as well also we got to talk to the action in this film is so bombastic and so awesome I love the action it fits the tone of this movie obviously if the movie was a little more serious it wouldn't obviously work but for this film for what they were going for in this film and what Stephen Chow was trying to do it really works and I love the style of kung fu we got in this film no quick edits we got a lot of long shots on stuff it looked like the actors were really like doing their own stunts and I that's what I love when I'm watching because you really feel like you're in the moment in the scene with these actors so I thought the action was phenomenal film yeah they did a great job of balancing genres even though they allowed itself to get pretty far-fetched while still being contained in the story wants to tell which I think is hats off to Stephen Chow for that because from the running you know and like there's this very Mr Rogers effect with the lips and this animation and even the Frog Style kung fu and the screaming Kung Fu it's so imaginative and I love it so much and it's like the whole time you're like what yeah that's sick like I love that type of action where you can be like that's wild like I can't believe you're gonna go there but I'm so like Buckle me up I'm here for the ride yeah too and also with the musicians where they were just using the Muse I mean there were so many really cool stylistic choices that they made when it came to the action in this film and I just really deeply appreciate all the choices that they made when Stephen Chow became the master he was doing the the hand Buddhist move at the end and then when the bad guy was doing the LeapFrogs I mean there was just so many cool stylistic choices that they made in this film and I just I loved all them there wasn't anything I'm like why did they make that choice that that was kind of ridiculous I loved them all they were all so well done and so well executed I really appreciated it and I loved also too the background score the music in this film it was really really emotional got you really engaged it fit with all the scenes that were going on whether it was action whether they were going for comedy or even more the dramatic moments just really well balanced score and I love I always appreciate a good score movie scores are a lot of times that's what my favorite part of films can be are movie scores oh really oh yeah I love the movie score in this one it was so beautiful so well done yeah like classic Chinese music like that playing with the strings I think it is so perfectly added into the filament going back to one of your first points of character arcs I loved you know the landlady you're like you're the worst you're so annoying like these people barely make money they just want to be able to live in peace and you're just being so annoying but you get it kind of you know like she's had hard chips her and her husband you kind of understand the relationship in this odd way it's so works when I didn't think it was gonna work we even were like I get why he would be wanting to look for other women but it's like no he was just like messing around yeah you know that's his lady they're trying to get away from the Kung Fu they just they're disguise I mean again with the distraught of what happened with their son they've like just gone into this disguise live livelihood and they just want to totally get away from what what they really are unless obviously when they had no choice and they were provoked to what they had to become or what they had to originally what they were that's what I love about this film it's like there's so many unassuming characters who you just brush off when you initially see them and then later on it's like oh man that was so well earned now when you re-watch and you're like you have a different sense of like okay you know what's gonna happen but it's like it's still so well done executed that I feel like even on repeat viewings it wouldn't bother me like even though you know the twists into the turns now again it's just so well executed and Stephen Chow I mean obviously the acting was phenomenal but his Direction with all the actors he's really good yeah it's really impressive when a director can write a film and star in it and that is unbelievable and I'm more used to Kung Fu dramas but I know that there is such a huge genre of kung fu comedies and I'm excited to delve into that more because I think they go together really really well and also too I loved in this film the production design and the locations that they shot at especially when they were in more of the city locations too I mean obviously I love the main location that we got where they literally just decimated that town which was awesome but I love to like in that in that City that they were in where especially at the end and also in the Middle where the uh the woman who was mute uh were the she was selling a lollipops a lot of the production design there really reminded me I was getting a Blade Runner Vibe with the lighting and all that okay yeah me personally which and Blade Runner is one of my favorite films especially Oh Yeah from the music to the production design I freaking love them that's a huge compliment yeah oh no yeah that's that's a major con it's not copying thing but it's just compliment like when I get those vibes like uh I was again the Productions there was just so many things that were just so well done in this movie I didn't know what to expect all I knew was that this was infused with Kung Fu and comedy which is interesting because I haven't seen too many films that have those two genres in it so I was kind of curious how I was going to take this because I love obviously I love both genres again it was just so well balanced and so well executed and just the characters were just so well done especially the arcs I just really appreciated this film it was really good me too I get why people have been gassing Kung Fu Hustle for as long as I can remember and I'm glad I can finally say I saw it I'm excited to see more Stephen Chow films in the future for sure this was a fun one thanks for watching with us y'all we really appreciate it before you go make sure you hit that subscribe button
