hello? Today, the best place in the country to get to by public transportation is We are going on a trip to the volcanic scenery Today's destination is quite far from the metropolitan area, but there is an easy way to get there This is Gangbyeon Station on Subway Line 2 It’s been a while since I came to Dong Seoul Terminal As expected, there are many travelers, right?
(Mecca of public transportation travel!) The bus I will board today leaves from platform 11 Although it is the first train, the departure time is a little late at 8:40 When I take the premium bus, I always reserve seats between 13 and 15 This is because it is the location with the least shaking in the vehicle structure Let's go now! The first bus departure time was 8:40, so I ate well until breakfast :) The weather looks great today too! After driving along the highway for a while, I arrived at the ‘Andong’ halfway stop I rest here for about 30 minutes Andong Station is right in front Andong Terminal has good restaurants and supermarkets There is about 30 minutes of stopping time, so you can have a quick lunch here Snacks available for purchase (11:40) The bus departs again and runs near Andong Dam I was surprised that the lake was much bigger than I expected We arrived at the last stop of the bus after driving for about 4 and a half hours, including a 30-minute break Although it is far from Seoul, you can get there directly without transferring It wasn't that hard There are commercial facilities right from the entrance to the parking lot, so you don’t have to worry about after-parties and meals This is ‘Cheongsong UNESCO Geopark’ in Gyeongbuk It is also a cultural heritage protection area When coming from Seoul, you can get there easily by taking the first bus bound for ‘Juwangsan’ at Dong Seoul Terminal It is also the only direct bus in the country that comes here On the far right, an overwhelmingly large rock cliff welcomes visitors It looks like the shape of a palm, right? Entrance hours to the geopark are from 9 a.m The admission fee has now changed to free :) The starting point is a temple called ‘Daejeonsa’ It is a temple built in an amazing location with the wonderful rock cliffs of Juwangsan Mountain in the background Juwangsan Mountain was originally a huge lake, but after a huge volcanic eruption, volcanic ash piled up and became the current Juwangsan Mountain So its geological value is recognized It has been designated as a world-famous UNESCO Geopark The reason Juwangsan Mountain has a unique shape that cannot be found anywhere else in Korea is due to a volcanic eruption Pass ‘Daejeonsa Temple’ and take the right path There are good signposts everywhere, so you don't have to worry about getting lost After passing ‘Daejeonsa Temple’, a path continues through a dense forest Clear valley water flows on the left side of the road, so this is a wonderful course where you can walk while listening to the refreshing sound of the water The Juwangsan Mountain course is also good for walking barefoot There are different grades for each section, so please refer to them when making your choice There is a shoe rack and foot-washing facilities are well-equipped If you go straight from here, the course takes you to ‘Jubong’, the summit of Juwangsan Mountain Because there is almost no view from the ridge to the top If you are not going for the summit, the course crossing the left bridge is much easier and more fun You can cross the bridge called ‘Giamgyo’ After crossing the bridge, there is a clean restroom and the full-scale trekking course continues If you go a little further, there is an interesting rock There are many small stones on top of huge rocks in the valley This rock is called ‘Son Rock’ Turn around like this and throw a stone between your legs It is said that if you climb on top of a rock, you will give birth to a son :) As it is a UNESCO Geopark, there are many wonderful rocks here and there A small tree branch was placed under the rock like this? It also has the meaning of praying not to collapse, and if a tree branch breaks, It also has the meaning of a warning that rocks may fall Most courses are flat and the roads are well maintained It was nice that there were many rest areas everywhere This is ‘Kitchen Valley’ The refreshing sound of water against the backdrop of wonderful rock cliffs was exquisite Dark red ‘andesite’ created by volcanic ash can be observed everywhere The Juwangsan Mountain trekking course is still being improved Looking down, a very large shelter is almost complete The spacious foot washing area is especially impressive When completed, it will be one of the best barefoot walking courses in the country There is also a valley right next to the rest area The water in the small valley surrounded by cliffs was really cool It would be really great to rest here in the summer Now you will come to ‘Juwang Crossroads’ From here, I will go towards ‘Juwangam’ You can cross the ‘Jaha Bridge’ bridge This course passes through a short hiking course This is a trekking course in a dense forest where you can feel the phytoncide pouring down all over your body I definitely recommend going to this course first Although it is a valley deep in the forest, it has good wooden decks and stairs There was no discomfort in walking If you go a little further, you will reach ‘Juwanggol Intersection’ Here are two attractions you shouldn't miss: First, shall we go see ‘Mujanggul’ on the right? The road to ‘Mujanggol’ is a very narrow mountain road Although it is not a course that many people visit, it is only about 400 meters away, so please visit at least once Suddenly a huge gray cliff appears This is where the Chinese ‘King Zhou’ fled to Silla There is a legend that weapons were hidden here The scenery of ‘Juwangam’ and ‘Gwaneumbong’ right in front of ‘Juwang Cave’ is amazing Although the mountain is not high, its majesty is overwhelming ‘Mujang Cave’ was truly amazing It is a natural cave about 6m deep created by natural weathering If you look from the inside, does the light come in through the small hole at the top? I think it will become a popular photo spot Let’s return to the intersection again and this time go to ‘Juwang Cave’ The road to ‘Juwang Cave’ felt like something magical They say the black butterfly symbolizes the soul, but I can feel its strange energy The lovely double cherry blossom tree at the entrance is also very pretty When you enter the entrance, you will be impressed by the location of this place The truly amazing place is behind the hermitage A narrow valley road continues, as if entering a sacred place in a martial arts novel The yellow wishing paper with wishes written all over it tells you what kind of place this is If you go up the stairs along the breathtaking valley, it is literally A secret scene appears This is ‘Juwang Cave’ This place was created through weathering over a long period of time It is currently being used as ‘Sansingak’ Mother Nature is so amazing that a cave like this can be created in the middle of a cliff The scenery when going down feels even more mysterious I understand that ‘King Zhou’ was hiding here to avoid the soldiers Now come back to the intersection and take the mountain road on the right This course literally has endless things to see This is the ‘Folding Screen Rock’ observatory A majestic rocky cliff with a panoramic view was looking down at me It’s a spectacular view that will leave you speechless! There was a ‘water fountain’, ‘folding screen rock’, and ‘Yeonhwabong’ Among them, the ‘water fountain’ is the highlight There was a man named ‘Kim Ju-won’ who did not become king during the Silla period.
I built a palace on top of this cliff and lived there Since water was drawn from this place, it was called ‘watering station’ It looks like a black water mark on the cliff, right? It's strange that such a great trekking course is so quiet I think most people go to places that are comfortable The path continues between the ‘water fountain’ and ‘folding screen rock’ that we saw earlier So, if you look up to the left and right, you will see dizzying cliffs This section has a new deck road built I think this first course would have been difficult to pass without this new bridge Now, the ‘Haksodae’ three-way intersection has appeared There is also a bathroom here There is the famous ‘Sirubong’ rock They say it resembles a ‘shiru’ steaming rice cake In fact, it looks like a human face when viewed from the side ‘Yongchu Gorge’ begins from here This is the highlight section of this course You can cross the ‘Haksogyo’ bridge The valley is very deep and beautiful You can also see the side of Sirubong really! ‘Haksodae’ can be seen only when you cross the Haksogyo bridge and look back It is named so because blue and white cranes built a nest on the cliff The scale is really grand From now on, a secret scene that will leave you speechless begins This is ‘Yongchu Gorge’ This place, created by a volcanic eruption, is the only volcanic scenery in the country The water is so clear that you might want to drink it if you're nearby This wonderful waterfall is ‘Yongchu Waterfall’ It is an unexplored scenery surrounded by cliffs that can be seen beyond 100m Juwangsan Mountain has many wonderful waterfalls due to its geological characteristics Today, I will introduce them to you one by one The ‘andesite’ that makes up Juwangsan Mountain is very resistant to weathering and erosion Even after a long period of time, erosion has not been carried out properly, making the movement of valley water complicated Selected as a UNESCO Geopark When you walk this section, you can only admire it It is definitely a secret place worth visiting before you die It is said to be especially beautiful in the fall with the autumn leaves However, there are a lot of hikers in the fall, so it was better to enjoy it quietly now The road continues past ‘Yongchu Valley’ When you cross the last bridge, you will come to a fork in the waterfall From here you can go to both the left and right sides Shall we go to the left first? The road to the waterfall runs along a huge valley Can you hear the sound of a roaring waterfall in the distance? Even when viewed from a distance, the scenery is no joke This is ‘Yongyeon Waterfall’ I can’t believe there was such a view in the world! It's unbelievable ‘Yongyeon Falls’ is a two-stage waterfall with two major turns You can see it better if you go down From this side, it looks like a waterfall Now let's go to the second waterfall Go about 200m from the crossroads The road to the waterfall was also very nice I would have regretted it if I hadn't come The road to the second waterfall is a narrow valley road There is ‘Jeolgu Falls’ at the end of the valley road It looks small in the video, but the actual height is over 10m It's a two-stage waterfall Strangely, there is a mortar-shaped hole in the center It is a natural hole created by a waterfall over a long period of time It is said that it is cold here even in the middle of summer if you lay down a mat and rest for a while Please note that the road to ‘Jeolgu Falls’ is a little-known photo spot Now I'm going down again, and when I go down, I'm greeted with a different view! I came back to the ‘Haksodae’ intersection If you go up the stairs from here, you will reach the ‘Juwangam’ course that I came to earlier If you go to the right, you can easily reach Daejeon Temple When I go down, I will also go to the right If you want to comfortably see ‘Yongchu Gorge’ from ‘Daejeonsa Temple’ You can come to this course This course is a barrier-free course that anyone can walk comfortably It is a good trekking course with views of strangely shaped cliffs here and there The name of this rock is ‘Guam’ There was a Chinese character engraved in the middle A huge rock became a piece of paper This place is called ‘Juwang Fortress’ There are a lot of piles of stones left, and now it has become a playground for squirrels :) The squirrels didn't even run away For your information, this course is great even for young children There were many people walking barefoot Now I have returned to ‘Daejeon Temple’ The spectacular view of Juwangsan Mountain keeps me captivating I think I'll visit again in the fall I have some time left on the bus, so I'm going to have dinner here There are so many restaurants that the menu is similar no matter where you go really! There was apple makgeolli called ‘Cheongsong’ You can't not try it, right? Have a hearty meal with your favorite wild vegetable bibimbap I was a little disappointed, so I ordered green onion pancake :) The apple makgeolli barrel was yellow, but the makgeolli was white It had a mild apple flavor and aroma Eating after hiking is always delicious :) Now we are back at the Juwangsan parking lot There is a bus to East Seoul three times a day from here Last ride is at 5:40 PM
(08:23 / 14:08 / 17:40) You cannot purchase tickets in advance online and must purchase them on-site Credit cards are now also accepted ‘Cheongsong UNESCO Geopark’, which we introduced today, is quite far from the metropolitan area If you are tired after hiking and driving your own car, it may be a bit difficult for a day trip But fortunately, there is a direct bus that comes directly from Seoul I can sleep while going back and forth.
It was especially nice to be able to relieve fatigue when returning When planning a trip to the spectacular volcanic scenery rarely seen in Korea
I hope this helps Thank you for watching today!
