That makeup artist came out of nowhere, she must be really hungry for some ribs.
For years I have watched american BBQ shows that I pirate from the internet. Oh how I yearn to taste it, to tear it apart with my teeth and wash it down with coca cola.
"Girl, let's do this!"
these kinds of videos make me want to pack up everything, move to a foreign country, and open my own small restaurant serving Texas-style BBQ.
See, as a Korean-American, I got the best of both worlds. Good shit like bulgogi and galbi from my mother's side, and the traditional American from my father's side. But seriously, I don't care where it's from, BBQ one of the best kinds of food in the world.
im visiting my girlfriend in Korea right now, im from LA... i saw this post earlier today and decided to look this place up and it was about 40min away. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork combo set and a half rack combo set... girlfriend and i both got 1 blue moon each. total came out to 92,000 won which equals $76 USD. Not cheap but the quality was good and the portions were decently big. Picture of our dinner: http://i.imgur.com/kqpD10t.jpg
while eating i overheard one of the workers which i believe might of been the owner telling his other employee that the video from reddit just hit over 300k. He later came by and asked us how we found out about this place and i told him i saw the page on reddit as well. Im pretty sure hes a korean american like myself cause his english was perfect or he at least stayed in the states for awhile before opening or working at Manimal.
The entire staff was super cool to us once they knew we came cause of the reddit post. Offered to reheat the spare ribs if they got too cold for our taste. Asked us for our opinion on which meat was our favorite and if there was anything they could do to make it better. After the meal they gave us one of their ice cream deserts on the house which was a nice surprise. There was a table across from us with 3 girls and they didnt get the free ice cream. Felt pretty nice to get the special treatment tbh. My girlfriend said it was one of the best ice cream deserts shes tasted. Overall place is definitely worth checking out if your in Seoul. The food tastes great, they got a decent selection of beers and IPAs, price isnt bad at all considering how hard it is to get good American food, and the ambience is nice... place is alittle small just like all the other restaurants in that area so if your going with a group bigger than 6 you might have trouble finding a seat for everyone
As a huge BBQ fan, this video makes me happy. I loved hearing them say that they envied American's and their unique food. It just goes to show that every country has something different to offer. Korean BBQ is awesome, by the way, and I recommend people to try it. It's very different, but definitely worth trying.
Their reactions to the ribs made me proud to be an american. Also I was mad that they used Cuban pulled pork because that is SO different than traditional American pulled pork and I think it's a real shame that these ladies might never try pulled pork again because they didn't love it the first time.
I love how the girl was like. "I wish they had food like this in korea, more unique tasting food." Yet people over here would say the same thing about their food, it being unique.
