all right so we're we're gonna jump in today if you were not here last week I cannot encourage this enough we launched a series last week that's going to take us actually through the whole summer so I really really really really want to encourage you / if you are a member here require you do this go back and listen to last week's message because it's going to give you context to what we're talking about the whole summer and so you can get it on podcast and go the expression 58 website and and watch it but we're gonna take this summer and we're talking about Kingdom culture and what we talked about last week and just in a nutshell if you weren't here just kind of catch you up is the culture that heaven has a very distinct culture the kingdom of God has a very distinct culture and just like Jesus was fully Jewish yet fully Kingdom Jesus knew how to submit his natural culture to his kingdom culture right and we talked about kind of historically how really since the beginning how there's been kind of this Ament of natural culture with Kingdom culture and it's it's kind of historically it's happened all along and and God loves culture and this is a house that believes we're going to impact culture but we're not going to impact culture with American culture we're not going to change the world with American Christian culture we're going to change the world with Kingdom culture and so we have to get really good at becoming more Kingdom than American more Kingdom than african-american or Caucasian or Korean or whatever you wanted whatever you are right we have to be more Kingdom than any other culture and so to do that you know we really were taking the summer and just we're diving into what is kingdom culture and how do I be more Kingdom than any other thing and and so we're excited and I really want to encourage you to listen to that and so today as we as we kind of prepare for this I was saying this earlier but as I was preparing this week I was struggling I was struggling so funny because I you know as I'd like preparing sitting in my room and just taking notes and studying and I just kept finding myself literally out loud like moaning like literally I was doing I'm like this is what is happening like sounds like there's an exorcism happening in hearing and it was my flash it was my flesh kicking and screaming and just oh this is hard this is hard and you know one of the things we talked about is we want the kingdom fruit don't we but if we want the kingdom fruit we've got a pet the kingdom see we'd have to do it the kingdom way and so I really feel like even what we're talking about today this is not you know I wrestle with the guy I wrestle with God all the time of like God I just want to serve ice cream like I just wanted to tell like fun stories and make everybody feel awesome and and this is one of those you know we we recently did a not recently spent couple months but we did a liver cleanse oh my gosh and it literally this cleanse yes some people are celebrating that it was disgusting and awesome but um in the midst of doing this cleanse we had to and I I love vegetables okay but like there's a limit you know like I'm kind of like a one salad a day and I'm good you know like I don't need a salad like five times a day and but this cleanse that we did you had to juice these huge jars of juice that we'd had to drink that three times a day so it's tons of produce but then you have to eat on top of that you're already full you have to eat two pounds of vegetables at every meal I don't know if you know how much two pounds vegetables is that is a lot and so you know it was just like I can't keep chewing you know I just don't want to and I'm done you know and I would rather just not eat then at that point then keep eating you know and vegetables and but I feel I feel like this message today is a little bit like a liver cleanse I feel like this message today is I hope you're ready to chew because we're gonna eat some vegetables cuz we need it we need it we need it we need it we need some minerals we need some vitamins we need some health in our souls and so we're gonna we're gonna jump into this and I want you throughout this whole series to really be thinking personally like how can I take Kingdom culture and truly bring it into my life you know what did the challenge like gave you guys last week was how hungry are we really to see the kingdom of God because it'd be a whole lot easier just to camp out in like American Christianity kind of powerless professional Christians and not have to do the work but how hungry are we really to see God to experience God to see transformation to see heaven break into society to culture into our own lives you know and if we really want to see God then we have to do it the Kingdom way and the Kingdom way is powerful and beautiful but it also cost something so we talked about that last week so today you're gonna you're gonna feel that oh yeah that costs something you know and we're gonna we're gonna jump into this but I want you just gonna open a prayer lord I ask that you would open up our hearts this morning to your word God we say that we want you more than ourselves God Holy Spirit I ask that you would lead this time God that you would just bind our minds to truth and that you would speak your word to us in Jesus name Amen all right so we're gonna be in Philippians 2 if you have your Bibles you can turn there we're actually gonna read this passage Philippians 2 from the top to verse 11 we're gonna read this three different times you're like okay wow three times we're gonna read it three times in three different translations because it's gonna take all three times just to digest it okay so Philippians 2 so if there is any encouragement in Christ any comfort from love any participation in the spirit the affection and sympathy complete my joy by being of the same mind having the same love being in full accord and of one mind verse three do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit but in humility count others more significant than yourselves right there that hurts do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit it's one thing to read it black and white ink on the paper oh that's nice working that out in your life right but in humility count others more significant than yourself let each of you look not to his own interests but also to the interests of others you know actually the original text here doesn't use the word interest it says let each of you look not to his own and you know so it's kind of a fill in the blank here but I want to give you some some perspective let each of you not look only to your you know to your own financial affairs or your own property or your own family or your own health or your own reputation or your own education or your own success or your own happiness or your own salvation don't just think about those things plan for those things strategize for those things but look at others look at the financial affairs the property the family the health or reputation the success of others dang do we do this you know American culture so much is take care of number one build yourself look out for yourselves get your own get your money you know do your thing that's American culture and Kingdom just comes and flips the whole thing upside down it's actually lay your life down look after the interests of others and let God look after your interests oh that's so much trust though do we really believe he is who he says he is or not it's one thing to be like you're so good but I'm gonna hold the steering wheel right when you really have a revelation of who he is you'll say oh I'm happy to let go because I know what you're gonna bring out of my life is way better than what I could ever bring for myself so I am happy to serve and lift everybody else up around me it's a very different perspective verse five have this mind among yourselves which is yours in Christ Jesus who though he was in the form of God did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped but he emptied himself by taking the form of a servant he took on the form of a servant being born in the likeness of men and being found in human form he humbled himself humilities a choice he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death even death on the cross there for this is a powerful word therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name so that the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven on earth and under the earth and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father here is Kingdom culture though Jesus having all authority though Jesus having all power though Jesus you know being equal with God never even considers that he lays himself down he's up here and he chooses to get low and because Jesus chooses to get low the father exalts him that's the kingdom way human nature is the complete opposite we have to climb the ladder promote ourselves make a way for ourselves build our thing look at me how about me my needs what I need my voice right we just go up up up up up and I want to tell you this and I know this is gonna be a tough pill to swallow this morning just like heaven as a culture so does help and the culture of heaven is humility and the culture of hell is pride so with that we're gonna read it again we're gonna read it again all right now this one we're gonna read out of the passion translation look at how much encouragement you've found in your relationship with the Anointed One you're filled to overflowing with his comforting love you've experienced a deepening friendship at the Holy Spirit and have felt his tender affection and mercy so I'm asking you my friends that you be joined together in perfect unity with one heart one passion and United in one lip hold on perfect unity how is that possible why would God ask ask us to be joined together in perfect unity how could God possibly think Democrats and Republicans are going to be joined together in perfect unity what it's possible right it's only possible through humility because unity isn't we all agree on all the same things unity is I'm gonna look we're gonna love each other we're gonna fight for each other we're gonna value each other we're gonna try to understand each other no matter what because it's not about being right you see you can't do that without humility humility is the only way to have unity ask anybody who's been married for five minutes they will tell you that without some humility that marriage is not gonna last right anybody married in here yes no okay it's just it's just the nature of it you can't have healthy relationship without humility right so this is the invitation here walk together with one harmonious purpose and you will fill my heart with unbounded joy verse three be free from pride old opinions for they will only harm your cherished unity I literally want to make this my banner on Facebook come visit my page it's gonna have a verse across the top be free from Pied filled opinions for their freaking killing our unity like I want that to be you know paraphrase like my version of this scripture here be free from pride filled opinions because they destroy unity here's the thing we want to be right and we want to be heard more than we want to be united that's the culture of Hell the culture of heaven is I value my unity to you I value our connection i value love I value relationship so if me giving my opinion is gonna break that relationship and cost us unity I'm gonna shut up I don't need to be right I don't need to be heard because I'm not willing to violate unity and connection and relationship why because I have humility you can't do that without humility dang right this is why I was like it's hard be free from pride filled opinions and if you're like my opinions aren't pride filled they're just right okay then you know then you know it keeps going it gets worse don't allow self-promotion to hide in your hearts don't allow it to hide it hides it likes to hide it likes to sneak in there it's not like here I am self-promotion it's like hey you know if you probably don't do this they're probably not gonna value you so you really should it's that little hiding voice that's telling you yeah you probably really should make this happen I mean you got that prophetic word probably because God wanted you to make that happen or whatever you know today I mean it's not self promoting it's it's sneaky it hides in there and this is challenging us do not let self-promotion hide in your heart but an authentic humility put others first and view others as more important than yourselves right does anybody else's flesh kick as hard as mine dang it's what like I said it's one thing to read it putting other people above your own needs right so good I lost my place put others first and view others is more important than yourselves verse 4 abandon every display of selfishness every display of selfishness possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests it's all fine until you only have one TV right or whatever like okay you know whatever it is like break this down into your everyday life what does this look like with your coworkers what does this look like with your children play with me play with me play with me play with me play with me like what does this look like with your spouse I need you I need you I need you uh you know like what does this look not know I'm just like manifesting up here just ignore me possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests you know I'm gonna say something that's a little bit I know it's gonna make some people uncomfortable but I mean there's a balance I think sometimes we take good things and then we wrap religious bows around them and they turn into bad things so something that's a good thing like hey I'm just protecting my yes hey that's a boundary good thing but then we put a little religious bow on that and we're like we have so boundary to our life but no God can't interrupt and nobody we have you know literally no time for anybody or anything or any kind of God interruptions in our life you know or it's like I'm so I'm just protecting my yes oh I can't actually love on this person who needs me right now I can't actually make that phone call I can't actually do this that is not keep done that is not Kingdom and when we have a posture of humility in our heart not that you become a doormat we're not doing that but your submitted like Jesus was to the father father what can I do for you today not God what can you do for me today how god no get God here's the list of how I'd like you to bless my day most of us approach God that way versus coming to God saying I'm your servant how can I serve you today there's somebody want me to love on there's something you want me to do is there something I can do for you I mean how many of us honestly wake up every day with that kind of a posture in our heart towards God humility right I told you is gonna hurt all right verse 5 and consider the example that Jesus The Anointed One has set before us let his mindset become your motivation I love that but his mindset become your motivation his mindset was although fully God fully powerful I'm gonna surrender to the Father's will every second of every day and I am gonna live for them I am gonna give my life for them I'm gonna pour my love out even when it's really inconvenient right that's what Jesus did verse six he existed in the form of God yet he gave no thought to ceasing equality with God as his supreme prize promotion wasn't his aim right love was instead he emptied himself of his outward glory by reducing himself to the form of a lowly servant he became human he humbled himself and became vulnerable our culture says do everything to not put yourself in a vulnerable position and Jesus Christ willfully became vulnerable choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient he was a perfect example even as death a criminal's death by crucifixion because of that obedience God exalted him and multiplied his greatness he has now been given the greatest of all names can you take one more time you guys with me you guys good you guys await something you need to wake up a little bit all right we're getting the word in us we're gonna read it one more time we're gonna read it in the message I love how this starts it's like a level-10 like passive aggressive it's awesome if you've gotten anything at all out of following Christ if his love has made any difference in your life if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you if you have a heart if you care then do me a favor agree with each other love each other be deep spirited friends not just friends who are your guests friends who just tell you what you want to hear deep spirited friends who call you higher right don't push your way to the front don't sweet-talk your way to the top you're like oh I thought it was clear after the pushing part no you're just a sweet manipulator right trying to get your way both are just as bad don't push your way don't sweet-talk your way put yourself aside and help others get ahead don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand I love this part think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself think of yourself the way Christ thought of himself fully powerful but fully surrendered not willing to do anything that the father wasn't doing right he had equal status with God but not think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what not at all when the time came he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave became human having become human he stayed human that was hard it was an incredibly humbling process he didn't claim special privileges la he didn't claim special privileges dang entitlement we're talk about that instead he lived a selfless obedient life and then died a selfless obedient death and the worst kind of death without a crucifixion because of that obedience God lifted him high and honored him far beyond anyone or anything ever so that all created beings in heaven and on earth it just feels like a real weird sentence okay this is good for us to get humility this is what you need to understand you know when I was thinking and praying we're talking about like the different attributes of the kingdom here's the bottom line you cannot even access the rest of them until we get this one because humility is the door into the kingdom humility is the doorway into the culture if you remember when Jesus on the Sermon on the Mount was beginning to talk about the kingdom of God talking about heavens culture the very first thing out of his mouth was blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God humility is the doorway that we're going to experience the kingdom of God I know some of you were like I'd really like a back door I know we all would but it's not possible you know something that I think that is very common that's happening right now it's like all these different cultures and groups and people are in a corner like fighting to get theirs it's like all these different groups but what about this but what about that like everybody is just fighting and getting louder and louder trying to be heard trying to have their issue heard trying to and it just gets overwhelming somebody's like you know we should you know care about AIDS victims it's like but what about cancer patients it's like anybody can't say anything without like 50 people screaming back in their face their issue in their corner and their peace right and here's reality as the body of Christ we are not called to engage in that level we're called to unite we're called to bring healing and so to do that we're gonna have to figure out how to really work this humility into our life because humility is what brings unity now you know as I was I want to talk about what is humility for a moment as I was kind of study through the Hebrew and the Greek and the Latin there's not really like a precise definition if you will but the word humility that's used really comes out of the root word low getting low not that you are low that you're like oh I suck I'm terrible I'm really stupid I'm that's actually false humility and that's just as as sinful as Perez pride because it actually is pride so you've got two ditches on either side pride and false humility and in the middle is real humility and either one of those ditches are a problem because actually false humility when you're like I'm terrible I'm this and that's actually so much self focus it's just the same amount of self focus as pride so actually those are just two variations of pride humility looks like I Know Who I am in Christ I know that I'm powerful I know that I'm awesome I know all of that but I'm fully submitted to God it's not for my glory it's for him it's all for him it's what can I do for him it's all unto him right it's full surrender it's not walking around like a wimp it's not it's not it's it's being a powerful submitted person right that's what biblical humility is also you need to understand this when thinking about humility it's comparing yourself to the Lord not to other people when you look at yourself in light of heaven it will give you a proper alignment versus one better than that person I'm worse than that person that's that's not Kingdom but when you get your eyes focused on heaven and you see who God is you go oh yeah I'm gonna get real small I'm gonna go ahead and get low I'm gonna go ahead and close my mouth when you see who God is right it's it's it's this it's having a right heart posture before God therefore when your heart is right before God you treat other people right we would talk a lot about this righteousness right it's like being right here therefore right here humility opens the door for righteousness an Andrew Murray's book humility the beauty of holiness he calls it the place of entire dependence on God humility is not so much a grace or virtue along with others it's the root of all because it alone takes the right attitude before God and allows him as God to do it all Scott Stuart are sorry Stuart Scott who wrote up from pride to humility says when someone is humble they're focused on God and others not self even their focus on others is out of a desire to love and glorify God a humble person's goal is to elevate God and encourage others in short any quote 2nd Corinthians 5:15 no longer living for themselves but for him who died and rose again on their behalf how many of us can honestly say I'm not living for myself I mean we say it but is that true in our lives I'm not living for myself I am I'm surrendered to Christ I'm his servant that's how Jesus lived Jesus walked around says I don't do what I want to do I'm doing what the father tells me to do right once again how much do we want kingdom culture are we gonna do it the kingdom way their only way in to that is through the doorway of humility all right once again humility is not you know I suck I'm terrible I have nothing humility is when I look at God I cannot help but lay all that I am and all that I have down for his glory I'm his servant I live for him his agenda his way is not mine therefore I approach every relationship every person with the mindset of God how can I love and serve this person for you what I'm so focused on loving and serving God I have no room to think about myself Jesus was the perfect example of this all right so here's something that you know we talked about this but the powerful thing about humility is the way up is the way down when we choose to humble ourselves God exalts you I want you to hear me you will see people be exalted around you do not let it throw you off not everybody you see being exalted is being exalted by God if you exalt yourself you will then be responsible to sustain yourself and let me tell you it's gonna get real tiring it's gonna get real hard and you're gonna have to hustle a lot and start having to just do things you weren't created to do to maintain that so don't worry about what's happening around you don't you know it's good to get input from you know have you know people that you're like oh I want to be like that person where that's all fine and dandy but at the end of the day the person you should want to be like is Jesus Christ right he is our model and so you know whatever people are saying like build yourself up do this do that we're gonna do it the kingdom way in the kingdom way is I'm gonna I'm gonna like Christ I'm gonna choose to get low I'm gonna choose to surrender I'm gonna choose to not promote myself and let God promote me I'm gonna choose because guess what God does God will exalt you at the right moment and when he does there'll be full provision they'll be grace there'll be everything for you to be sustained in that place and you won't get taken out so don't get distracted with what's going on around you also you need to know this you know it's like the great paradox in Christianity but humility listen to me humility is the avenue to glory actually in Scripture some of the very greatest promises are promised to those who walk in humility let's look at a few of these God supports and strengthens the humble I think we have a graphic for this God blesses the humble God dwells with the humble God gives grace to the humble God exalts the humble humility leads to riches honor and life God shows favor to the humble wisdom is given to the humble God guides and teaches the humble him LLL 'ti brings honor God crowns the humble with victory how many of us would like these things in our life we would like for God to support us and strengthen us we would like God's blessing we would like God to dwell with us we would like some grace anybody need some grace I do we would like to be exalted by God we would love the riches honor and life don't mind it right don't hate that we would love God's favour we would love his wisdom we would love him to guide us and teach us we would love his honor we would love him to crown us with victory who doesn't want that we want to sign up for the therefore you get this without having to pay the ticket price of humility these are promises of what comes to the humble which is once again why it's like you know but humility is a choice I want you to hear this pride and humility are not personality types they are a choice pride and humility are not personality types they are a choice what is our choice in the kingdom just as humility is the way up pride is the way down you'll see the contrast to what we read earlier in Isaiah 14 starting in verse 12 says how you have fallen from heaven Morningstar son of the dawn you've been cast down to the earth you who once laid low the nation's you said in your heart all ascend to the heavens I'll raise my throne above the stars of God I'll sit enthroned on the Mount of assembly on the utmost heights of mountains often I will ascend about the tops of the clouds I will make myself like the Most High God but you are brought down to the realm of the dead in the depths of the pit Wow Wow like that is a rough ending there okay this is the complete opposite of what Jesus did this is a picture of how the enemy works this is what Satan did right it's like okay I'm gonna make myself powerful I'm gonna be my god I'm gonna get my own praise I'm gonna make myself you know whatever and it's this trying to make your way up and what happens he got brought low most of us would never say I would never use the words like I'll raise my throne above God or whatever that sounds crazy you know we do it like every day we're like I'm gonna do it my way today god I'm tired I'm gonna go ahead and not choose humility right now because so-and-so's being a jerk I'm gonna do it my way I'm gonna I'm gonna you know I know better I whatever you know like we do this subtly in our hearts you guys okay you guys with me you guys good I see some scared faces you breathe in this is so good for us and I want to encourage you to be honest and examine these things in our life because once again it's those little subtleties it's not the big like none of us sit down and write in art wake up in our prayer journal like I will ascend above the heavens I will be like God you know like we don't do that but it comes out in our daily little choices in our little attitude that's that sneaky little foxes that get in the vineyards it's those sneaky little things where you go oh yeah I'm kind of doing that bless you just got delivered she just got delivered CS Lewis puts it this way the essential vice the utmost evil is pride on chastity anger greed drunkenness and all that are mere flea bites in comparison it was through pride that the devil became the devil pride leads to every other vice it is the complete anti God state of mind the kingdom of God is all about love and connection and relationship and humility is a doorway to that and pride is the absolute destroyer of relationship and connection take your door they both lead to a kingdom and a culture I want to briefly talk about entitlement for a moment because it's just something that's so really rampant in our culture and I think it's one of the most common ways that we see pride an entitlement is is totally anti Kingdom but to be entitled is believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment you know nobody like this in LA I don't know feeling that you have the right to do or have what you want without having to work for it or deserve it just because of who you are like what's wrong with that right that's entitlement right let me give you some examples my boss should be coaching me more the company should pay for my schooling I should be a manager by now my kids should listen to me more my church should let me be a leader that casting agency should have booked me should should should should should write get your out of here guys I need more sleep okay set differently it's like I deserve and this is a trap I deserve this I deserve that I deserve I deserve I deserve and many of us approach God very entitled god I should remind you the great calling on my life I want to remind you of all the prophetic words I want remind you how awesome I am because you said so god here's the list of things I'm gonna need you to do for me right and God's like cool you know what you don't even have to ask for those things those things will actually just happen when you do this Kingdom stuff like if you just plant the kingdom see that's just fruit you don't have to ask for that's just gonna start popping up in your life see first the kingdom all that stuff just comes along with it it's awesome be trying to seek first the kingdom you know and we're like that's like a lot of work so I'm just gonna really want to just you know listen to some good workshop and go to church on Sundays because you know I really got to use my time to go after this calling you gave me you know you called me to this thing and so I'm gonna need you to go ahead and work on your list God and bless me while I do my thing I mean that's like a lot of Christians am i right entitlement it really is I should have my throne raised up I should be exalted I should right and we cannot live with this mentality that God owes us anything it's very different than faith we act as though we're calling our favor our success is owed to us don't get me wrong God loves to bless his kids but he also cares more about you your heart than your success he cares more about you not being he's not gonna give you the success the success that's gonna destroy you if your heart's not in a good place so he cares more about what's happening inside of you right so this humility is this fast track to getting that stuff worked out in us so that he can give us those things God exalts the humble alright there's a little a little uh I want to look at kind of the difference between pride and humility here for a moment pride is a weakness humility is a strength pride is not teachable closes down to feedback and resist input correction and advice how are you doing with that humility is teachable and strives to learn and try on new behaviors humility seeks input counsel and feedback ask yourself how good am I at asking people for some feedback in my life you know I did that this week I was really scared I asked Tona one to ten one being like worst-ever and 10 being like I'm pretty much Jesus like how humble am i I was so scared right he was far more generous and I would have been to myself I'll just say that but ask some people get some feedback in your life is that terrify you to the thought of that like completely terrified you're like yeah no I'm not asking anybody that you know you might want to consider repenting up some pride if that's the case you know how how teachable are you pride rarely admits wrongdoing or mistakes or commonly here's a big one commonly blames others or gives excuses for their shortcomings with a saying am I in my house because I'm like I cannot stand when somebody apologizes to me and then throws a big huge butt in the apology I mean fighting words right like I'm sorry but you get your big butt out of my apology get your big ol butt out of my apology right no don't give me all the reasons while you were justified to do that hurtful thing you know kids are awesome at this I'm sorry I threw the ball at your face but if you weren't being such a jerk and butt out of the dead I wouldn't have had to act like that you know like we're just grown up versions of kids doing the same thing you know in our marriages and with our friends like are you you know it's right back to the garden Adam like that woman you gave me I mean I don't know you know it's like this is pride pride is gonna get you kicked out of the garden you know this is pride blaming other people for your behavior wolves cuz my parents was cuz my boss you know it's because whatever you know humility is the opposite humility admits when they're wrong and takes responsibility does not accuse others to excuse themselves pride this is a big one makes assumptions about other people's thoughts intentions and motives I know what you're thinking I know what you were saying when you were saying that I know what she really meant no you don't that's pride right humility believes the best while being a great listener an active listener and asking insightful questions I'm choosing to believe the best right now help me to understand where you're coming from help me understand your point of view okay awesome I really want to get my head around what you're trying to say versus I'm making assumptions about you right difference between pride and humility pride has no personal development plan in place and is waiting for somebody else to promote them humility has a clear personal development plan in place seeks mentors coaches counselors to increase their potential how many of you are hurting right now been alone uncomfortable okay pride is angry unforgiving and easily offended humility rolls with the punches remains calm and collected right pride hates to be inconvenienced dang it demands better service and is easily annoyed shoot humility takes time for those around them gives grace to the struggling and seeks to serve how do you treat your waiter how do you treat people in traffic you think God doesn't watch when we're in our cars you think all rules are off in your car you think that stuff doesn't count it's still in your heart you can have straight worship music going off and you just start like swearing somebody up and down we live in this dichotomy what is that how dare we be annoyed how dare somebody have bad customer service how dare I mean la at its finest that's not who we are because we're Kingdom people we choose humility you know what it looks like you're having a hard day can I help with something instead of like berating your barista or berating or whoever can I help you with something you're doing a great job ah you know like it's a conscious choice to do that you gotta choose to not just sit and all your flesh right it's like adulting on the inside it's adulting on the inside it's like I'm gonna get up and I'm gonna make there I'm gonna be loving I'm gonna be humble I'm gonna be kind pride judges or dislike those who are different I don't have to like Democrats I don't have to like Republicans I don't have to like whoever I'm right that's pride 100% pride humility expresses interest in learning about those that are different values inclusion and diversity pride finds it difficult to submit to someone else's ideas wants or needs humility seeks opportunities to serve honor and build up those around them pride boasts and their hard work their favor with God they're calling their success humility has no need to talk about themselves because I feel so deeply grateful for what God has allowed them to be a part of pride is deeply focused on self and one's own life and humility is deeply focused on God and seeing him glorified in their lives humility you know chooses the hardest task instead of sliding it off to your husband you know humility is willing to give in in discussions even when you're right because it's not about being right humility is not looking for attention admiration or credit we're real big on this we want the credit we're gonna if we're gonna do it I want the credit humility doesn't need the credit cuz not about me it's about God's glory doesn't matter who gets a credit it's about God's glory right does anybody elses flesh just like ticked right now humility doesn't have time to compare or look at the faults of others because they're just too busy looking in the mirror looking at their own stuff right humility isn't trying to get in everybody else's business is it hoping somebody's gonna gossip in the room humility is man I want to serve everybody I want to love people so that's just gonna that's that's not gonna work for me humidity millet E is gentle and kind in confrontation not presumptuous expecting everybody to cater to you man James 4:10 says humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord and he will exalt you humble yourself it's our choice it's our choice are we going to choose the path of humility it's not easy but it's so worth it I'm telling you I'm telling you I'm telling you it is so worth it once again we're not going to be able to impact culture to impact society to impact entertainment astray to impact whatever the church by doing it the same way everybody else is doing it your authority comes from doing it God's Way and as we embrace humility we're gonna begin to see heaven heaven had been released out in our lives I want you to imagine for a moment imagine for a moment what would it look like nationally in this nation if Christians all over this nation began to truly embrace humility or that look like think about humility is the beginning of wisdom right so if if Christians were humble there would be this flood of wisdom coming in to the church wisdom creativity strategies the world would look at that and go they're humble and they're like brilliant I want what they have I can trust them I want to promote that person in my company she's humble she's not after her own thing she's here to make my company better she's here to make me look like a genius she's here to serve me she's proven that and she's got this wisdom on her it's unlike anything I've ever seen let's give her more influence also humility is the doorway to obedience so if there was more humility in our lives and we were then therefore being more obedient because humility is about submission and obedience so if we were being more obedient think about how much more heaven would be pulled down to earth every day in this nation if the church just embraced humility you know when you think about these things it just starts getting me so stirred of what God wants to do what if just this community you know let's just not look at the whole nation would have just this community what if what would it look like if we just begin to fully embrace humility like never before what would your own breakthrough look like what would your own walk look like it's completely going to go against everything your head tells you to do it's like going into the middle of the ocean and everything in your head tells you stay afloat and choosing to sink it just feels crazy humility feels that crazy that I am going to spend my time serving you instead of taking care of my business take care of my stuff what I want I'm gonna let you have your but I'm gonna bless you I'm gonna pour into you not expect you to pour into me right what does that even look like what is on the other end of that so many people will never come into Kingdom a true Kingdom experience because they are afraid to walk through one door what would happen if we walk through that door for real in our lives we're afraid of the door but I'm telling you what's on the other side for the toy set before me you can endure the cross when you begin to understand the freedom that comes on the other end when you begin to understand the power and the authority that comes on the other side of humility you you're never gonna want to live any other way blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God how much do we want him so a few things for you to think about this week one I dare you ask somebody how humble do you think I am ask your spouse ask your roommates ask your parents and then don't like give your big old but just listen right what ass begin to ask all this week what does humility in my workplace and my family in my day-to-day look like when I pray am I overwhelmed with gratitude or listing off the things I kind of believe God owes me ask God to show you any areas of entitlement in your heart and then ask God to give you a revelation of who you are and your need for him I know this is like a tough one this morning most of us don't wake up on a Sunday more anything man I really hope she preached on either on either you know humility or patience man I'm really hoping it's one of those two like nobody wakes up thinking I really hope that's what we're talking about today but I'm telling you last week you all were like yeah we want the kingdom culture we want it tap into that right now remember that remember the big yes you told Jesus last week remember the like I don't care what the cost is I'm going in I wanted tap into that right now cuz this is the cost that's the pathway it's surrender its humility it's doing it his way and I'm telling you it's going to feel extremely counterculture but the more you do it the more it will become natural to you and you're gonna see the fruit of it I'm telling you it's not just this like oh my life I'm a doormat no no no it's in this beautiful posture of surrender you begin to watch God be glorified you begin to see God exalt you you begin to see God have his way you will become so it you don't not gonna want to live any other way after that I'm telling you it's beautiful it's powerful the way up is the way down will you stand as we close we're gonna pray I'm gonna ask our ministry team to come forward they'll be available at the end if anybody needs prayer Jesus man God we want to do it your way God we don't want just just to be professional Christians Lord professional Western Christians God we don't want an inferior watered-down gospel Lord we want to see heaven come to earth Lord Jesus we want to see you get your full reward Jesus we want to know you on your terms God we want to see your power and your glory revealed in our day God Father we just repent huge big fat confess and repent God that we are such selfish people we're entitled or selfish God we like to fight for our own voices our own needs our own interest God and we just say God help us help us help us help us God we make a choice today God that we are going to choose like Jesus chose to empty himself but we are going to choose to surrender before you know we're gonna choose God to posture our heart before you Lord we get loves that you can get high gotta want a love for real not just with words God with our life and so God we say Lord we want to walk through this door of humility will you teach us your culture Jesus how to be totally powerful and totally surrendered at the same time would you teach us how to be confident yet deeply deeply humble expectant yet deeply grateful or teach us how to live in the complexity of the gospel God we don't want to be humbled we want to choose to humble ourselves Lord before you and God we don't want to exalt ourselves we want to allow you to exalt us God so Jesus we just come before you wide open and we say God have your way in my life once again Lord I feel like the kid getting saved again it's like God come in what I surrender I surrender again fully surrender teach me how to live more surrender to God to you God I choose the path of humility teach me how to would Yuri culture eyes me to the culture of humility God we just cast off anything that stands in contrast to your nature and we ask that you would lead us speak your blessings over everyone here in Jesus name Amen bless you have an amazing week [Music] you
