- Okay. (foot switch clicks) (clay sloshing) Oh, gah-- (laughs) - Mm hmm. (peaceful classical music) - Hi! - Hi! - My name is Micah, what's your name? - My name's Lynn (laughs). - Nice to meet you, Lynn. - Nice to meet you, too. - I always wanted to do pottery, so this is one of my dream that come true. - Wow, that's exciting! What do you think this is? - I step on this and then while that's spinning we shape it out. That's going to make a teapot or something. - I can make a doll. It's gonna be named Bon-Bon. - You wanna give it a shot? - Sure. - Okay. (clay thuds) - Perfect. (wheel creaking) - I can touch that? - Yeah. - Sticky. - Ew. - It looks like you've done this before. - [Girl] I never actually did this before. - Whoa (laughs). (clay clatters) - Can I do it? - [Woman] Um-- (clay clatters) (laughing) Okay, let's stop it. (laughing) - Am I doing this right? - Sarah! - It's a different technique than I've seen before, I don't know. Do you want me to show you how it's done? - Yeah. - Alright, let's trade seats. - Okay. - I want the clay to stick to the wheel. (clay thuds) So let's just stick it on like that. - How do you make a doll? - I'll show you. I'll make a pot that looks like a doll. How 'bout that? - Yeah. - OK, so I'm putting one hand on the outside, and I'm gonna curl my finger right into the middle. - Whoa! - Looks cool. - So now I'm gonna cross my hands together and make a butterfly. And I put one hand on the outside and one hand on the inside, and I start pulling up with both of my hands together. - Why are you so good at this? - I've been practicing it for a very long time. I went to school for it, I studied it in college. - I never went to college 'cause I'm just a little kid right now. - Yeah, yeah. - In second grade. - So what do you think, does this look like a good doll? - Yeah, we need the hair. - [Woman] There we go. What should her name be? - Rapunzel. My turn to make it. (clay thudding) - [Girl] I need help. - Maybe we should try with a little bit bigger. - Okay. (foot switch clicks) (clay sloshing) Oh, gah-- (laughs) - Mm hmm. - This is very fast. - (laughs) It's turning into like, an omelet. (laughing) - Here, I'll slow it down a little for ya. - This is not working so good. Can you help me please? - So you wanna push your finger into it. You gotta push pretty hard. - [Girl] I feel like I'm dipping my hand in poop. - How do you know what it feels like? - Because it's soupy. (laughs) - Soupy? - It feels like a wormhole pulling my finger into doom. - [Woman] Are you scared? - No. (laughs) I know I won't fall in. - A butterfly. (laughing) It got a little more up. - [Woman] Yeah, it is, it's getting taller. - [Boy] Yes (gasps). - [Woman] Whoa! - No! (laughing) I was so close. - The nice thing about clay is that-- - You can rebuild it. - Exactly. - Done! - That looks great! What'd you make? - A doll dress. Done, tah-dah! Bon-Bon. - [Woman] Good job. - Thank you. I can't wait to see yours. - Aww. - I'm planning on turning it into a vase, for my mom. - [Woman] Oh, that's nice. - Actually can you make cups outta these? - Mm hmm! - Yes, then I'm making a cup. - You're making a cup? So what are you gonna make? - Not telling you, it's not-- It's supposed to be a surprise. - Oh, okay. (laughing) - How's it feel? - Wavy. - [Woman] Mm, that's great. - Can you see this? 'Cause it actually looks so good. - Okay, stop for a minute. Too fast. - That's what I want. - Are you gonna make a teapot? (laughing) - No! - A dragon? - No. - So are you just exploring how it feels right now? - I don't know what I'm making, I'm just doing what I think I'm doing. - So you wanna make it into a handle, right? So you just roll it between your hands like that. - Good (hands whooshing) - Yeah! - Yes! - I'm just doing a little wider on both sides. - [Woman] Okay, that's a good idea. - [Girl] Yeah. - [Boy] Butterfly. - Yeah. - Mm hmm. - That's here, that's doing it up. - [Boy] It's making it bigger, too. - [Woman] It is. - It's really cute now. - It is cute. It looks like an upside-down top hat. - Oh, I never actually thought of it that way. - I could put flowers in it. I can drop my legos inside of it. I can mostly do anything with it. - That's awesome. - Thank you. I'm gonna draw legos on it. And my name, that way nobody like, Lynn over here, will steal it. - Yes. - [Woman] What are you gonna drink out of it? - Uh, chocolate milk. - Now do I go put this in the oven? - Yeah. - For like, how long? - Um, for two days. Mm hmm. - Heat it up for two days? - Mm hmm, it takes, one day for it to heat up, and then one day for it to cool back down. - Here, masterpieces. - With-- It's kind of like a telescope. (laughs) (gasps) I put it on my hair, do I look handsome? - [Woman] You look really handsome. - Thank you for helping me making a cup (laughs). - Well you're very welcome. Was it fun? - Yeah! - Dirty high-five. - Ew! (laughs) - It's nice to meet you, Lynn. - It was nice to meet you too. (children screaming) (screaming) (laughing) - (screaming) What is that? - A rotten egg! - Pig's blood? - It's coconut.
